@Pamparam I hadn't thought about the next box (I'm still on the first) - what a terrible waste of plastic to have to have a new reader every time! It's a good job we don't give up and hop in the bin after the first month, although we might feel like it!

Pamparam · 08/02/2021 15:33

@TTCat39 it is SUCH a waste of plastic (feel guilty enough about the daily waste of the sticks) and batteries/whatever elements are in the microchips too. I should've stuck to the old reader for the rest of this cycle, which is 3 years old, dating from when I was TTC my first, still works perfectly, so I'm positive you could use them for multiple cycles if only they would let you buy the sticks.

I guess it looks bad for the product if if you can buy more than a couple of cycles worth... 🙄

Pamparam · 08/02/2021 15:34

@TTCat39 although in its defence, I did get pregnant the first cycle I used it, which is why I had some left from last time and only just bought more!

TTCat39 · 08/02/2021 16:58

@Pamparam I am so pleased for you but so envious at the same time, that you were successful on your first month using OPK! I swear I have become a different person since TTC and I'm not sure I like her!

selina37 · 08/02/2021 18:32

@Loladoodle of course you feel the same side effects as me, twinny! I too am now taking first thing now. I've read it should be taken with a healthy fat, so I'm tending to have porridge (with milk) instead of toast and loads of butter. Probably should have a better fat source though.

Do you take just one 200mg capsule?

@DawnWW hope you are ok. You've got lots of support here 💜 xx

Misty84 · 08/02/2021 18:49

Hello I hope it’s ok if I join🙋‍♀️
I’m 36 and have been TTC for 18 months.
AF arrived yesterday (cruelly 2 days late) so just trying to pick myself back up and get back into the mentality of restarting.
Have done most of the fertility tests but it’s a LONG, frustrating wait between each appointment. Just feels so hopeless and I’m so scared about not being a Mum 😟 Keep trying to tell myself there is still plenty of time 😬

thislittlebird · 08/02/2021 19:04

I’m interested to hear your doses because I’m planning to start taking ubiquinol on cd1 @selina37 @Loladoodle

Hi @Misty84! Very relatable. It’s awful when it’s late when you’ve been trying for some time, doesn’t get easier. AF is due for me on Wednesday and it very much feels like it’s on track for tomorrow or Wednesday right now.

Kitekat81 · 08/02/2021 20:16

@DawnWW glad to hear you've got a plan and fingers crossed you don't have too long to wait for the BUPA scan. I hope you get some answers soon x

@thislittlebird I'm due on tomorrow or Wednesday as well. My mood has just crashed today 😣 Bring me all the chocolate.

thislittlebird · 08/02/2021 20:20

Ugh, hate it @Kitekat81. I got very emo earlier because Deliveroo wouldn’t deliver me any sugary things Confused. I walked to the co-op in the snow instead, determined to have the sugar.

Pamparam · 08/02/2021 20:31

Welcome @Misty84. Have the tests given you any answers or just more questions? Hope that the next month is the magical one!

@TTCat39 obviously luck/coincidence mainly but in my case the OPK proved we were completely missing ovulation (stopping trying too early... two people with fairly low libidos meant we ran out of steam quickly haha). That was after 5 months of post-MC trying though!

@Kitekat81@thislittlebird matching cycles there... will you test or just wait?

thislittlebird · 08/02/2021 21:00

@Pamparam I’ll just wait, I don’t bother testing really (unless I’m late) because AF is usually regular, and I’m not convinced seeing all those negatives is good for my mental health. I have a selection of tests in the cupboard for when I finally get the opportunity!

I do wonder if I’ve been missing my ovulation too. CB monitor was useful this month at pinpointing my Lh surge.

Kitekat81 · 08/02/2021 21:19

@Pamparam I don't usually test but I did do one yesterday as I had a Zoom drinks party last night and wanted to know if I could drink. It was BFN :(

Loladoodle · 08/02/2021 21:43

@selina37 of course we literally are the same 🤣 yes I take 200mg first thing with breakfast. Sometimes that includes avocado which is a healthy fat but other times it might just be cereal or toast depending time wise. The extra energy is great but I definitely cut back to one capsule as the insomnia was shocking!! Think I’ve got the right balance now hopefully.

Loladoodle · 08/02/2021 21:44

@Misty84 welcome! I know it’s hard when it feels like it will never happen, but remain positive there’s been lots of success on our thread 🙏 hopefully not too much longer for us all!

Geriatric1234 · 09/02/2021 07:39

Morning all!

Quick Q - how do y’all get along with ovulation kits? I bought some in a post-MC frenzy but I sweartogod I am hopeless at them. I have Boots ones that look a bit like CB version but are just lines. I got PG last time just using my free p-tracker app so I know I ovulated that time, but thought I’d try OPKs as I’m not really understanding the progesterone debate and thought this might be a way to confirm.

Anyway, I’ve done a few for past few days and nothing, though my period is regular as clockwork at 28 days so it should have happened yesterday.

My bladder is the size of an acorn though, so possibly I’m just rubbish at holding it long enough... Any thoughts appreciated! Xx

@DawnWW so relieved to hear from you. Sending lots of love!

@Misty84 Darling you are a veritable infant yourself compared to me (I’m 42)! Have faith and fret not! You have lots and lots of time to try before even taking alternative routes. You’re going to be a-ok! Most of my circle had their first in their much-later-than-you30’s and any that struggled had them in their 40s with a little help. I’m only trying now as I met my DH late and after resigning ourselves (quite contentedly, I might add) to no children (I was told I couldn’t have kids when I was v young) I ended up pg! Fertility is a funny old thing!! I look forward to cheering when we see you BFP - make sure you share it :-)

@M4v3r1ck Thank you! Sending love and luck back atcha :-)

thislittlebird · 09/02/2021 07:50

I never got on with regular OPKs (couldn’t get a dark line) @Geriatric1234 and used CB for the first time this past month, with the monitor in my case, and they’ve been a lot easier. You use first morning urine which takes a lot of the hassle and guessing out for me. Picked my a bit later than expected ovulation up, which was great.

Geriatric1234 · 09/02/2021 08:37

@thislittlebird Thank you! That’s is excellent intel. I will switch to those next cycle and see how I go. First pee in the morning would deffo be far easier. Xx

Kitekat81 · 09/02/2021 08:37

@Geriatric1234 I use the Easy@Home opk's and get on fine with them, I use the premom app which takes a photo of the test and plots a wee chart. I like that they are really cheap so I can use 2/3/4 per day if I want to make sure I catch my peak. My surge comes very quickly and is quite short so I might miss it if only testing once per day. I have a 12 day luteal phase so when I have a 28 day cycle I ovulate on day 16 so would get my opk peak on day 15 x

Geriatric1234 · 09/02/2021 08:46

@Kitekat81Awesome - thanks! That’s exactly what I was worried about was missing it if my LP is short. I’ll look those up - thank you!

Misty84 · 09/02/2021 10:24

@thislittlebird Thank you! Sorry to hear it feels like AF is on track. I agree that seeing BFNs is not good for mental health so I don’t test early either- I have a selection of tests ready too for when the magical time comes!

@Pamparam My AMH is very low (2.3), everything else ok so far. Hard not to feel anxious. Your comment about running out of steam made me laugh- my OH is def relieved when the tww begins and he can have a rest!!

@Loladoodle Thank you so much ❤️

@Geriatric1234 Your message was SO lovely, I can’t thank you enough, it brought a tear to my eye and smile to my face as I read it on the train into work. Immediately made me feel calmer. Invaluable, thank you 💐

Regarding opks: I used CB which worked really well for me however they’re expensive so switched to One step opks 2 months ago but never got a dark line with them so had to guess when I was ovulating. Going to start temping for the first time to see if that’s effective!

MgW1 · 09/02/2021 10:50

Hey ladies
Im Cd26 and I think iv got a faint positive or its an evap line I really dont know , will drive myself insane now for next 6 days. It will be a year end of next monday since me and my husband started trying ( im 37 and he is 40) , had 2 mc's at 14 & 5 weeks .... this had been a difficult journey. Hope everyone is doing ok on here xxx

Pamparam · 09/02/2021 11:09

@Geriatric1234 apart from my issue switching readers (and the expense... and the waste...) I do find the CB ones pretty foolproof. I test first thing. That said, I went from the O symbol yesterday to the static one today and that is a day earlier than I thought, so who knows.

Unfortunately my OH and I were bickering all yesterday evening -lockdown life really getting to me/us mainly, so neither of us was in the mood. He also said last night, after agreeing to try this year and me buying the CBs etc that he's not entirely sold on having another. He wasn't sold on the first either and said if we were younger he would have preferred to wait a few more years/decades! He absolutely loves being a dad now, though. Very frustrating.

Pamparam · 09/02/2021 11:10

Oh @MgW1 that's exciting! If yu possibly can, try to hold for another 48 hours and test again?? Keep us posted!

thislittlebird · 09/02/2021 11:18

@MgW1 fingers crossed for you x

@Pamparam what’s the switching the reader thing? I have the CBAFM so I’m not sure what the reader is like on the other kind of CB. I assumed it was an app 🤔

Shame about the DH but maybe it’s just an off day. Hopefully he is more positive again soon.

Misty84 · 09/02/2021 11:36

@MgW1 That is very encouraging and will be so lovely after the struggles you’ve had. I can’t even imagine the pain of having mcs 😔 Best of luck that you get that line 🤞
