Thanks for that link @Narwhal88 I've ordered an AMH test today as not yet had one. Be interested to know what mine is whilst we await final NHS follow up before we go private for ICSI/IVF. Been waiting 8 weeks for it as our clinic is delayed again due to covid so feel I'm doing something productive whilst we wait 😊
Hope everyone is ok and has a lovely weekend xx

Hannah154 · 15/01/2021 12:22

We got the SA results this morning. So the GP said his sperm count is normal but morphology and motility are low. The only advice she gave was for him to stop drinking completely so I think we'll share a bottle of wine tonight then that will be it for us 😩 (I feel I should support him through it n do the same). She's going to send over his results so we can see the actual figures. Has anyone had any other advice on how to improve morphology/motility? He takes Wellman conception and CoQ10 already.

The GP said to wait 1-2 months then ring back and he'll get another SA and I'll be referred for more tests (as I've only had the basic blood tests done) if it hasn't happened by then.

notyetamumbuttrying · 15/01/2021 12:52

@Hannah154 proxceed plus sachets instead of wellman. It's good you're going to stop drinking with him. I'm surprised you've not had a uterus scan yet, that's standard alongside bloods for women.
@crazycatlady1981 thanks, it sucks! Hope you're well x
@Motherofkittens28 thanks, hope it went well at the clinic today? Annoying you have to go to the main one now.

@Hannah154 my dp takes Wellman Conception, CoQ10, vitamin c with zinc and vitamin e. I found the fertility information for my hospital(quick Google search) and it says cutting down on alcohol consumption, stopping smoking completely and taking vitamin C and vitamin E can lead to an improvement in the sperm count. I know your dp doesn't have an issue with his count but adding those vitamins might be worth a try? Certainly can't hurt! Be interested to see his results, if your willing to share of course! How long has dp been taking his supplements?

@CreativeThinkerTequilaDrinker snap! Past 4 months for us too and he's taking proxceed but his count and motility are low as well as morphology so I doubt it'll happen naturally for us ever...has he got a date in for his next test yet?

Hannah154 · 15/01/2021 18:07

@notyetamumbuttrying Tell me about it! My Dr was really against me having any tests but my husbands Dr has been much better so I'll be asking to speak to her in future! I'll look into switching the Wellman Conception for Proxeed.

@RobinRose Thanks - I think I'll see if he wants to add Vitamin C and E to his regime. I've been taking Vitamin C to try and lengthen my luteal phase so we have tons of it in already! He's been taking his supplements since early September so quite a while now given sperm takes 2 - 3 months to renew. I'm hoping his is just taking a bit longer. His results weren't great - his morphology is less than 1% and motility 32% (motility doesn't seem too bad from my google searches but morphology is pretty bad). What were your partners results?

@CreativeThinkerTequilaDrinker Sounds like they have similar motility levels! With my husband's morphology being less than 1% I feel there could be a fairly big difference between 0.9% and 0.1% but probably not even worth thinking about. He already wears loose boxers and doesn't take baths - he gave up smoking in August/September as well so maybe his sperm is just taking a bit longer to adjust. Everything I've read seems to suggest waiting a few months before repeating the SA so I'm not really sure why the Dr told him to book in in 1-2 months to request another one. I guess she could be anticipating that with waiting times that would take us up to 3 months.

RobinRose · 15/01/2021 18:55

@Hannah154 dps last test showed total motile 69% which I think is quite good given the circumstances! Everyrhing else was within the right range except count and concentration was a little lower too. Didn't say about morphology annoyingly but a year ago it was 2%

Hannah154 · 15/01/2021 19:13

@RobinRose That sounds really positive 🤞🏼! Hopefully the fact they've not mentioned the morphology means it's normal

Narwhal88 · 15/01/2021 20:44

@notyetamumbuttrying I have to be on the medication for at least a month before getting the blood test repeated.

Just so people have something to go on - DH had been taking Proxeed for 2.5 months and had another SA just before Xmas. Results had actually got a little worse than the 2nd SA in July. So it hadn't really changed anything. Which was disappointing. The consultant said to carry on though as it's a good supplement. The biggest improvement was between the 1st and 2nd SA where he started wellman conception, quick drinking and caffeine and stared exercising more and eating more veg. Hopefully you guys will see an improvement but be aware everyone is different and it's not a miracle worker.

So I got a bit of bad news yesterday. I had an MRI for hip pain and by accident they scanned my uterus. It showed I have adenomyosis - which is where the endometrium grows into the muscle walls. It's the sister condition to endometriosis. I've seen since it can cause miscarriage and late term miscarriage as well as causing low fertility. Made me quite upset that we now have another hurdle which reduces our chances of IVF working when we thought we only had male factor 😔 I need to send the clinic the results so they can see if they need to change anything.

Marvellouslymadmum · 16/01/2021 10:47

Hi all, hope it's ok to join? We've been ttc for 2.5 years now, had a m/c a year before that, my partner was told at a young age that his swimmers had low motility but he went on to have two boys, I have two from previous relationships but only the one conception and m/c with us together. I have pretty regular cycles normally but am currently CD47 18 days late for af but she's nowhere in sight! Nothing but bfn tests and I'm feeling very rubbish right now!

notyetamumbuttrying · 16/01/2021 11:28

@Hannah154 yeah speak to her for sure if you can. Proxeed is expensive but are the ones recommended. They're sachets so taken as a drink twice a day.
@RobinRose that motility is amazing!! My Dh's was only 14% 😣
@Narwhal88 oh I see. Not too long to go now then. Oh I'm so sorry to read about the scan. Let us know what the clinic say. Hopefully ivf can still work!
@Marvellouslymadmum hi, welcome! That must be tough going, hopefully she shows soon or you get a bfp! Have you and your partner gone for any tests yet?

@CreativeThinkerTequilaDrinker we've not had DH sperm tested but my consultant advised against sex every day in the fertile window. Something to do with how long it'll take god the dorm count to replenish 🤷🏼‍♀️ I'm with you that it feels like we aren't properly going for it if we just do every other day.

AF has arrived with a vengeance for me. This is the most uncomfortable I've been in ages!

Hi @notyetamumbuttrying it's very frustrating! We haven't had any tests at all and not sure we will be eligible for any on nhs as we both have children from previous relationships 🤷🏼‍♀️

Thank you @CreativeThinkerTequilaDrinker

notyetamumbuttrying · 16/01/2021 13:30

@CreativeThinkerTequilaDrinker we already know the plan, definitely icsi! But yeah first appointment with the assisted conception unit at the hospital.
I haven't been told that, but have read it's best not to do it everyday as the sperm needs longer to regenerate so go for every other day as the maximum. Not heard of that app, will download it and give it a watch. Dr Ramsey is the king of male factor infertility! Enjoy your weekend too xx
@Theawkwardblonde sorry hun, this was me a few days ago. It was horrendous!
@Marvellouslymadmum no I think you're right. Might be worth going private if you can afford it?!

OP posts:
Marvellouslymadmum · 16/01/2021 13:35

@notyetamumbuttrying I've no idea of the costs and things guess I'll have to have a look into it!

RobinRose · 16/01/2021 13:36

@Hannah154 i am hoping that is the case! Forgot to mention, dp didn't take supplements untill after his first results so he was taking them for about 9 months untill his second sample! Hopefully your dp just needs to take them a little longer 🤞

@notyetamumbuttrying I was quite surprised at the results to be honest, I was not expected much of an improvement, if any! Has your dp had another sample?

@CreativeThinkerTequilaDrinker I agree! At least M&Ms taste nice 😂

Marvellouslymadmum · 16/01/2021 13:49

Anyone who can give me recommendations into supplements for myself I'd be very grateful please

@Marvellouslymadmum blood tests aren't too pricey but scans and SA's might be. I know you can get combo packages. Supplements I would suggest coQ10 and zita west vha alongside folic acid.
@RobinRose no not yet. He'll get the repeat one at the feb appointment if it doesn't get cancelled.
@CreativeThinkerTequilaDrinker so the feb appointment will be our first one at guys. We got referred through Dh's urologist. She sent the letter and suggested ivf with icsi. She sent the letter off in November and we found out same month I think so it's been a 3 month wait to be seen. We also had a referral going through via our gp but that went nowhere and it was the urologist that pushed it all through. If you have male factor get your Dh a urologist referral from his gp and they'll push it through. Kings would be fab! Have you had all tests done now then?

@notyetamumbuttrying thank you, I'll look into those! I think I'll probably try temping, opk, suppliments and regulars dtd for a few months once af shows up and things get back to normal then if no luck by say June I'll look into the tests
