Pregnancy or period symptoms? 2ww

Hi! So I'm currently
Trying for 1st baby
Cycle 9 of trying
Cycle day 78
8 DPO
Had a chemical pregnancy in August

So I'm cycle day 78, my periods are extremely irregular but so far this is my longest cycle I've ever had! But finally I got a positive OPK, I'm 8DPO at the moment and I know period and pregnancy symptoms are pretty much the same but I'm experiencing some things I never normally get leading up to Aunt Flo, so far the symptoms I've noticed are

5DPO - couldn't stop crying!
6DPO - Boobs slightly sore at times, extremely hungry like all the time non stop!
7DPO - Boobs slightly sore but nothing too much, extremely hungry still, frequent urination, a whole night of vivid dreams.
8DPO - Boobs are bigger, more veiny, sore and my nipples are so so sensitive and my back aches today and I'm also getting a mix of small twinges on my right side and every so often I feel a small shock? (google says it's lightning crotch??) also very emotional today and i fell asleep at 2am this morning and I woke up at 6am this morning and couldn't get back to sleep but still really tired (which is really odd for me because I usually fall asleep really early in the morn then wake up at like 11am) I also treated myself to McDonald's as I was awake early enough to order it for once 😂 and I struggled to eat it like I just smelt it and was like... ew... 😂

Anyone else experienced anything like this before getting your BFP??
I'm not testing until NYE which will be 10 DPO for me!

Any help or answers are appreciated 🥰

Now I am off the pill we are both wanting to do it all the time! Another reason why I came off and it really effected my libido.
I haven't been able to track anything as when I was on the pill I didn't bother so now I'm so new to all of this! Technically we aren't actively "trying" as such but would be over the moon if it happened sooner rather than later 🤞🏻

OnMyJourney · 03/01/2021 11:14

@timeforanother1

Honestly the long cycles stress me out quite a bit, like I've had only 7 cycles in 2020 when most other people had 12, where it's nice not to have a period for so long it also makes it very hard ttc as if I have a 90 day cycle and I don't get pregnant it's even more heartbreaking because it could potentially be another 3 months before getting pregnant again, I also go through over £150 worth of pregnancy tests and OPK and vitamins just in one cycle and sometimes it looks like we might get a peak and then it'll just drop, and my partner and I get exhausted, and it feels like it's hard to DTD for fun anymore it feels like a chore, I love him but I get so tired most of the time we just cuddle! 😂

Well that's good! Hopefully you won't have to use any, hopefully you'll get your BFP instead this cycle! But crazy cycles can make it super hard to know when you're supposed to be baby dancing, OPK's are deffo worth it!
I've not tested today either, I don't think I'm going to test until Tuesday as that's the 1st day of missed period! Hopefully pregnancy wins the contest and not Aunt Flo lol! But hopefully it means something, I've been having bad cramps for a few days so I'm hoping that means something too 🤞🤞

I think AF is on her way! No cramps but light pink spotting has started 🥲🥲

Hi, Iv been reading everyone’s comments, I have one dc, who is 6 years old, when I found out i was pregnant I was completely shocked, as we only tried for 1 month, just two days in the fertile window , and I didn’t feel pregnant at all, however I was full of cold for a week, and I was taking paracetamols, I only took a pregnancy test because my period didn’t start and I am always on time and got a Bfp, anyway just found out that I’m pregnant again, and my symptoms where just like every other month PMS symptoms, there started 2 weeks before my period, and I was really upset, because I knew my periods will start, anyway 4 days before my period, I took one of those cheaply internet pregnancy strips and I had a faint positive and since then my symptoms started changing, such as my PMS gone away and today I tested positive on the digital pregnancy test, we only tried in December am I’m 42, I wish you all luck.

timeforanother1 · 06/01/2021 23:07

@2021year thank you.

OnMyJourney · 07/01/2021 02:22

@timeforanother1

Me too AF came! I was absolutely gutted I thought all these symptoms may have meant something but nope! So instead I'm eating loads of take away and binge watching tv shows! 😅 but after 81 days without a period I got an extremely heavy flow but with like next to no cramps! At least I'm day 5 of my period now so it should start to clear up in a day or two and can start trying again! This cycle I think I might do more exercise (More like Just dance and Ringfit Adventure on the Nintendo switch cause of lockdown!) eat better, drink better, sleep better, take vitamins and the rest! My Partner was so upset we didn't get pregnant last cycle, so my fingers are crossed for this cycle 🤞🤞

I'm sorry to hear that you didn't get your BFP either, it's heartbreaking when you feel so positive about it and it's not the cycle! I've got my fingers crossed for you for this cycle 🤞 xx

@2021year

Congratulations on your positive test!!

I wish the symptoms I had meant something but apparently not, I've been trying for over a year now and I'm still quite young and it isn't happening for me unfortunately, I'm still waiting for my positive test! Hopefully it will happen soon! But thank you! 🥰x

timeforanother1 · 07/01/2021 21:25

@OnMyJourney thank you... sleep better you say? What time did you send that last message lol?!

I feel for you with these long cycles.
Roll on ovulation day!

I'm going to start tracking from about cycle day 7 and use every trick in the book!

I'm on vitamins and will be doing pillow under bum and legs in the air for 20 minutes after dtd!

2021year · 07/01/2021 22:47

@OnMyJourney it will happen, and your young, which means you have time to conceive, all I can say is when your pregnant you will know, for me it was 4 days before my period, that my PMS symptoms faded, and I knew my period was not going to come, you feel different, I don’t know how to explain, but you feel better, no PMS pain and no period, I’m now almost 4weeks pregnant, so stay positive x

OnMyJourney · 07/01/2021 23:22

@timeforanother1

Literally don't even 😂 sleeping is an actual task for me, I don't normally wake up until lunchtime though so I get about 9-12 hours of sleep sometimes 😂

I think I'm going to start ovulation tests from about CD7 too! I know it's not likely to be soon after that but I don't wanna take my chances!!

I'm going to try taking "Conceive plus Ovulation Support" vitamins and putting my legs up and the pillow! And I'm also going to use the menstrual cup method, if you pop it in after baby dancing then it holds the sperm closer to your cervix only giving it one direction to flow in and you take it out in the morning! This is what I did the cycle I got pregnant with my chemical pregnancy so I'm gonna give it another crack and hopefully it'll work!

Let me know if you've tried anything else! I'm always interested to know! X

Hi, I think I may be pregnant but I’m not sure? Ive not had a period since 13th of November 2020 which lasted till the 18th nov so I’m not sure if I have even ovulated or anything as I don’t really track my cycles I’m new to this stuff. Anyways I have been having some symptoms of what I think is implantation bleeding so brown discharge for the last 3 days (5-7 January 21) I also have had cramps in my lower stomach for the same length of time as the discharge. They feel like PMS cramps but no where near as sore as them, also have been feeling really sick during the day which lasts all day and it makes me not want to eat anything so I haven’t had much of an appetite. Basically I’m just wondering if anyone else is having similar symptoms and has had a BFP because all my tests this week have been BFN and I really want to be pregnant.

OnMyJourney · 08/01/2021 17:57

@Lele2000

If you haven't had a period since Nov a pregnancy test should show positive by now if you were pregnant but I could be wrong so I'd say test every other day! (Use some cheap tests or it'll get really expensive)

I've had symptoms similar to yours and I didn't end up pregnant unfortunately as they can also be a common symptom linked with PMS! But I've got my fingers crossed that it means something for you! 🤞

If you don't get pregnant this cycle it's important to track your next cycle! It will give you such a clearer picture on when you need to baby dance and when you're ovulating and about to come on! And if your cycles are irregular then it's best to figure out why, it could be a thyroid problem, stress, PCOS! I have PCOS and I take ovulation tests everyday even if I think I've hit a peak ovulation I keep going just to be sure and I also check my CM (Gross I know) and I use this app called Femometer, I also use their ovulation tests to track my cycle and to help shorten my cycle I take inositol, folic acid and I also have a low sugar and low gluten diet and I also have a mug of Raspberry leaf tea a day and also have incorporated 2 hours of exercise into each day!!

I really hope this is your cycle and you are pregnant but if not I've got my fingers crossed for your next cycle 🤞🤞x

Lele2000 · 08/01/2021 20:54

@OnMyJourney Thankyou for the reply! Yeah I’ve been testing every day with cheap tests and nothing so far so I think I’m just going to wait a few more days but I don’t think I am pregnant as it’s been too long now. On my next cycle I’m going to track everything and hopefully it happens next cycle!

Lele2000 · 08/01/2021 20:55

@OnMyJourney also I think I will need to go to the doctors and see why by periods are so irregular! Hopefully have some answers! X

OnMyJourney · 08/01/2021 21:36

@Lele2000

It's worth a visit to the doctors, I didn't actually get a proper answer to why my periods were late until I had an ultrasound and they saw I had polycystic ovaries, but hopefully they'll order the right tests for you and give you something to help regulate your cycles, I chose not to take any medication to regulate my cycles, I feel like if I can force myself to exercise and diet and do it naturally would be how I'd love to get pregnant! I am overweight and they say it's hard to conceive when your overweight, apparently being 5ft5 and 11.11 stone makes you over weight but if I can push myself to get healthier and conceive naturally that's my goal 😊xx

OP posts:
Lele2000 · 08/01/2021 21:55

@OnMyJourney yes I think so too! Has to be something going on with me so hopefully have some answers soon. That doesn’t sound overweight to me at all! I am wishing you all the luck and baby dust in the world! Hopefully we can both get what we want very soon❤️Xxx

OnMyJourney · 10/01/2021 13:15

@Lele2000

Thank you! I'm hoping too!

I'm gonna update on here through this cycle so hopefully we both get what we want 🤞🤞x

allthingssparkly · 10/01/2021 13:32

Hope it's ok to jump on.
I'm due on 16th Jan, hoping for a positive test. I've had mild cramping the past two days, a weird bloating feeling and a wave of nausea this morning I still feel it's still so early to experience these symptoms but these are things I haven't experienced any other month. My periods are normally on time and regular so I suppose time will tell. I'm going to test on the 17th if AF doesn't make an appearance 🤞

wildraisins · 10/01/2021 15:40

So sorry to hear about your struggles, OP :( That must be so stressful having such long cycles and the waits in between.

I have to say though, a lot of symptoms you are describing as early as 5 DPO are really unlikely to be because of conception.

If you think about it, if you get a negative pregnancy test, that's because you don't have enough of the pregnancy hormone in your body yet to get a positive.

And it's pregnancy hormone that causes the symptoms.

So if you've not had a positive test, it means you don't have much of the hormone in your body and you are unlikely to be getting seriously sore boobs/ food cravings/ massive mood swings etc. Any of those symptoms that you get before you've had a positive test are not very likely to be linked to pregnancy.

£150 seems like a huge amount of money to be spending on tests in one cycle... is all of this impacting your mental health? I wonder if it's worth talking to your GP about that side of things as it sounds like you may be struggling (very understandably) :(

I really hope you get your BFP soon.

OnMyJourney · 10/01/2021 17:40

@allthingssparkly

I hope it means something good for you! I think it might be a tad too early to have symptoms but you never know! I hope you get your BFP! Xx

OP posts:
allthingssparkly · 10/01/2021 17:48

@OnMyJourney I keep thinking its too early for symptoms, I mean they're very mild and come and go but I have still noticed them if you get me.

Fingers crossed, thank you x

OnMyJourney · 10/01/2021 17:58

@wildraisins

I know that 5/6 DPO is too early to actually have pregnancy symptoms but Implantation can also happen around 5/6/7 DPO and it's definitely possible to have symptoms before you get a BFP but either way I think it's important to track all your symptoms 😊

I do spend a lot of money on tests and vitamins and things but I feel like it will all be worth it in the end! It's not really affecting my mental health that much, I have days where I feel a bit low but who doesn't, the money isn't stressing me out I choose to spend that money and my cycles are long which is very annoying but I have pcos and I eat rubbish and don't exercise properly and I've recently started improving myself and I feel a lot better about myself, I feel like I want my journey to be natural and I want it to be medication and medical intervention free so I'm really hoping I get that! 🥰

But thank you I'm hoping for my BFP this cycle 🤞🤞xx

timeforanother1 · 11/01/2021 15:46

@OnMyJourney have you started your opk's?

I took mine today and it's completely negative.
Have you heard of the sme method? I'd never heard of it until the other day and thought I'd give it a go as I'm too quick to say 'we're done with dtd now' when maybe we should keep going afew more days.
We will start dtd tomorrow!

I like your idea of the menstrual cup although knowing me I'd lose it up there and end up in a&e lol!
