Hello everyone, sorry about AFs .

One of my best friends who had also been struggling with ttc (we've spent hours complaining and sharing stories and tips about ttc) has just told me she's pg... Really happy for her although very too (of course!) - but I know her well enough to tell her that. Her news has hit me the hardest of all my friends, think cos we were (previously)in the same boat...

Also can anyone tell me this, why do people (not on mn) get pg and immediately forget how hard it is and join the ranks of the well meaning but annoying people who say 'oh, just relax and it will happen'???

Rant over!

Her top tip by the way was that she had colonic irrigation a few times over the summer... not sure if I can face that but watch this space - I'm sure I'll get to the point where I'll try anything! (acupuncture is next on my list!) Other thing was that we were planning a skiing holiday cos we thought that if we weren't pg at least we would have that to look forward to! Looks like we're going by ourselves then!

Hulababy · 01/11/2004 16:40

This is my chart for this month. It is a bit more steady than last months I think.

mariella · 01/11/2004 16:40

Hi everyone, this thread is soooooo long, i think we should start a new one, it doesn't have the same good luck vibes as the previous one IYKWIM!
anyway I'm on CD17, did opks from day 10 - 15 without any result (and then ran out), bdd on days 8, 10, 12, 14, 15, then dh went away until next weekend so thats it for this cycle! Cycle usually 29/30 days. what do you all think? any chance?
guess i just have to sit and wait for 2 weeks...

Hulababy · 01/11/2004 16:49

mariella - I am sure there's a chance. Do you know when you normally OV?

Don't you find the second half of the month lasts so long?!

mariella · 01/11/2004 16:54

hi hulababy, no i don't know, never used opks before, i've just assumed it was about in the middle of the cycle and that has worked with my previous three pgs. but becuase I've had the mirena out i wanted to know i was ovulating, and i haven't found out! frustrating really

Hulababy · 01/11/2004 16:58

I've never used the tests - they seem very expensive! I'm trying the FF charting to see if it helps. Last month it said I PVd on Cd18, this month CD15. So??? No wiser yet. LOL!

Godd luck.

mariella · 01/11/2004 17:01

they were 2 for 1 in boots so i got one pack of opks and one double pack of tests! the charting looks very complicated and if i started that i'd become all obsessed and wierd (i'm like that with everything) so i think it is best with me if i keep it with a light touch (like running out of opks the day before i'm likely to ov, duhhhh)

go on hulababy, please start a new lucky thread, this one is so long it is killing me, i'm on dialup!

Geordie · 01/11/2004 17:03

Hula- chart looks ok to me!! Ovulation can differ month to month due to stress, holidays, sleep paterns etc etc...so chating can be helpful for those of us who don't have the stamina to bd everyday!!

anyway....deperately hopeful this month.........know I am gonna be upset if af does arrive in either 4 or 6 days time.

I have given up on opk's too expensive and too much preassure to bd etc...we find it less stressful to bd bd bd every other day until i have a temp rise!!

Hulababy · 01/11/2004 17:05

Oh, I don't know the policy on starting new threads. There was something mentioned once, but can't remember what it was. Sorry! But I agree It is soooo long!

Geordie · 01/11/2004 17:07

hula- it was decided that there was no polocy as such...but there was a lot of chaos about the person tha started the thread getting annoyed etc etc....

what does everyone else think???

Hulababy · 01/11/2004 17:07

Cheers Geordie - your temp seems to go up and up after OV. Whereas mine just rises and hovers around that higher point. Last month (and first month a bit) my temp stays at this higher level right through AF too.

What does the actual rise in temp show? What makes the temp go up? I don't just mean that OV has occured, but what is it in your body that does it?

Hulababy · 01/11/2004 17:08

Maybe we should decide a new thread is needed after a thread reaches xxx number of posts - ans do it simply based on practicalities of reading the threads!

Geordie · 01/11/2004 17:09

progesterone makes it rise...that is the corpus lutem (the egg shell left in ovary?)makes hormones to sustain early pregnancy and implantation and if no implantation it dies away and temp goes down...sometimes my temps come down towards the coverline but don't go below it until the 2 or 3 day of af.

Geordie · 01/11/2004 17:11

I vote that we should start a new thread every 500 posts??? what do other folks think??
I also wondered about starting each post with a set of abbreviations for newbies to read and a set of stats summing up the last thread....??

I would be happy to co-ordinate and put on a webpage and a link if folks want?

Hulababy · 01/11/2004 17:13

Sounds a good idea Geordie - I vote for that too

Right, so I need lots of high temps then? Last month I had 2 or 3 temps that went below the coverline after OV.

RudyDudy · 01/11/2004 17:28

I agree Geordie. As a relative newcomer to the thread it is v. hard to know 'who's who' quickly so stats and stuff would be great.

And a very generous offer - sounds like a lot ot work to me.

velcrobott · 01/11/2004 17:28

Well I think we should go for a higher number.... look this thread is 6 days old and we have 700 posts. The 11 Thread went to over 1500.
Don't care really but it goes so quickly that i think we should aim for 1000 or 1500.

Hulababy · 01/11/2004 17:31

The problem is that when it gets as long as this it takes a logn time for the messages to all download and show up, and for the add reply to show up - if you are on dial up this must be a pain.

I guess if we limit to just 500 or so it makes it much easier for those with dial up to start with.

Or we could go for a weekly thread? Say every Monday whoever is online first starts the new thread?

velcrobott · 01/11/2004 17:33

Oh the joys of broadband

Geordie · 01/11/2004 17:35

Hula one temp under the coverline between 7-10 dpo can be ovulation...but ideally they should stay above it!!! My book (the bible to cahrting called taking charge of your fertility) says that 16 high temps are nearly always because of pregnancy...you need not do a hpt in that case!!

maybe a 1000 posts would be best (those who've got dial up...is that ok?)...once i've set up the info it won't take that long to alter it every new thread....so it's only hard work initially!

Geordie · 01/11/2004 17:36

good idea hula! weekly would be a way of knowing where we all stand with new threads too...that would also solve the problem of the titles too!!

Geordie · 01/11/2004 17:38

well I will start a new thread for stats so that I can collect peoples details to get started anyway I certainly would find it v useful in supporting people if didn't have to search the threads to remeber where they are at!! off to start stats thread.

hester · 01/11/2004 18:08

Geordie, thanks for sorting us out thread-wise. My brain has turned to bread pudding so I have no opinion; am happy to go with majority view .

This thread started lucky, didn't it? But we seem to be going through a fallow spell . Certainly, I feel very grim and low - would be due to test this coming weekend, but I feel very premenstrual (cramps and weepy).

Which brings me on to your question, Becki. A couple of my friends had really strong period pains just before they got their BFPs. Another of Mother Nature's cruel tricks, if you're like me and get cramps for 5-6 days before AF, 5-6 days of alternating despair and wild hope .

SOMEBODY GET PREGNANT SOON AND CHEER US UP!!!

Hester - I believe they call it 'hormones rebalancing' or something, I have the same thing (normally sore tops half during OV and then can't even look at food or drink the day before AF is due) I think mother nature has a sick sence of humour! lol

Valley girl - How long have you been on Angus Catus? any changes to your hormone levels yet... or side effects?? (apart from a shorter month, mine's already 26 days ... don't want it any shorter!) lol
