Thank you for the welcome My dh has just started night work which is causing problems. I have a 16 month dd and a 16 year old ds who is on half term at the moment so getting very little opportunity. Thinking of asking dh to leave specimens and then using turkey baster Really want to get pg!! Good luck to everyone else.

Tania is this your first month off pill too ? (can't remember your situation) if so maybe thats what is happening to us.

Congratulations pandagirl

Tania2 · 25/10/2004 13:59

Sorry golds i havent been on the pill for 10 years. (told it would be hard to have babies) Have endo but since having ds my periods have become quite regular heavy but regular. ds is 2 next month and have been ttc since xmas didnt really ttc ds it just happened but never used any thing to stop it from happening for 10 yrs so dr said that i would have taken us several yrs to conceive ds. Seeing a natrapath for a cycle and a half but the herbs iam taking souldnt make af lighter but heavier cause that is good for a clean out the more you bleed the more eggs you release. Maybe iam holding on to all hope here but when i was pg with ds i had a strange af and i didnt find out i was pg till i was 7 weeks. but i have to doubt it cause i will do my head in otherwise i will play this cycle out and see how i go if i start to get pg symptoms in a couple of weeks i will know then.

alterego · 25/10/2004 14:11

Just signing into the new thread. Ttc no.3, have had two mcs at 10 weeks in the past year plus 2 very early mcs (ie. I'd just got the bfp and then a couple of days later AF came). Last mc was beginning of October. Have just done OPK and it's now +ve. Not allowed to bd this month (not with the "gloves" off anyway ) but good to know that I'm ov'ing again and can start trying again soon.

Sallie · 25/10/2004 14:16

alterego - good to hear from you again and hope you are ok. Have your doctors said you aren't allowed to start ttc now then? I had a similar early m/c in Sept - was about 6 weeks and two days after my BFP, I miscarried. But am carrying on ttc after some heartfelt discussions with dh about whether we should wait a few months. My reasons were a little sketchy really - wanting an autumn rather than a summer baby. We have therefore decided to see what happens and let nature take its course. Having said that, I am using persona so will know when our best chances are!!! On cd12 at the moment and usually ovulate about cd18-20........

SHELY · 25/10/2004 14:16

thanks sweetheart, i found it!! anyway ladies, this morning, i got a peak fetility reading on my clear plan monitor. i dont know how long that peak reading will last, as this is my first month of using it. i wish i bd last night, but i was tired and did't know i was peaking. iam gonna get me some tonight and hope for the best. i feel like i messed up by not having sex las t nite. anyone know anything about how long this peak lasts? 1 day or more? thanks!! hopefuly his will be the final threat of ttc we'll need! baby dust to all!

Tania2 · 25/10/2004 14:17

It cant be golds iam just being silly and hopeful.
Sorry you have had such a rough time alterego I bet your looking forward to next cycle to start again hope it all works out for you soon and a warm welcome to you too.

OP posts:
golds · 25/10/2004 14:21

Theres nothing wrong with feeling silly and hopeful, I'm sure we all have at some stage, when you want something badly, every little thing is a sign.

I was hoping that something like that was happening to me too, but I don't think it is.

Tania2 · 25/10/2004 14:22

Girls i hate to do this but i really have to go to bed 11:30 here in Australia and i am very tired. enjoy the rest of your day and i will catch up on the chat tomorrow sometime between taking ds to swimming lessons, cleaning mums house, cleaning mine and doing dh's bookkeeping. Reading all that just made me even more tired.

wilbur · 25/10/2004 14:46

Ho hum, so much for being on CD25 yesterday and planning to test tomorrow. AF arrived this am so I'm back to Cd1. [wilbur blows a big raspberry] I didn't really think I was pg, but it's still disappointing and I don't know what's up with my cycle, last month it was 30 days, this month 26. Grrrr. Dh is feeling better though so I reckong another week and I might get a gentle bd out of him .

Anyway, brill news, pandagirl - excellent and well done! Good luck to everyone on this new thread.

jeddah · 25/10/2004 15:06

Tania2 'nite nite'
Me and you seem so similar this month!
I ve been ttc since Jan.......cd4 today, having funny af!! just spotting now and I usually bleed for 6-8 days!!!!! no Idea what is going on???
Just been wathing a programme on women who are over 40 ttc and IVF feeling very pissed off now!

Sallie thanks for advive....but what is a persona??????? how does it work, I am using OPK strips at the mo......says they are 99% accurate!

Pandagirl03 well done you lucky chick! our fisrt graduate!!!!! yipee

Welcome to jc and bj and alterego....this net is great for support and advice and a good old girlie moan!!

Shelly, a peak in LH means that you will ov 12-24 hrs later....hope this helps.....but does anyone know when you count from??? I can find a surge at 10am or if I test that day at 6pm it will also show a surge..?????

QUESTION!
if there is an egg and a sperm.....why the hell doesn't it fertilise!!!!!!!?????????? (11 months loosing hope!)

jeddah · 25/10/2004 15:10

tesiebear thanks for info!
seems all this ttc is a bit hit and miss?????

I always thought that if you can predict your ovulation and bd at the right time it just happens....how bloody stupid of me!!!

jeddah · 25/10/2004 15:17

sweetheart sorry about the BFN you say that you are cd33 but how many dpo are you??? and will you test again??

Sallie · 25/10/2004 15:21

wilbur - sorry about af arriving - particularly annoying when she arrives early
jeddah - presuming you don't live in the UK if you haven't heard of persona??? Its usually used as a natural form of contraception. You have a monitor and test sticks which you wee on and then the monitor gives you a red or green light. If its red, that means you are likely to become pg if you bd. But quite a few mumsnetters (including me!) have used it to pinpoint when they are ovulating etc. It gives you an 'o' when you are about to ovulate which is very helpful. You don't have to test every day - only when yellow light is flashing and after a few month it gets to know your cycle and you get less red lights. You can get them in most chemists including Boots. Worth trying.....a lot of people on mumsnet have recommended it and so did my doctor!!!!

jeddah · 25/10/2004 15:35

sallie I do live in uk......but never heard of persona.
How much do they cost
Thanks for info

Sallie · 25/10/2004 15:41

the monitor itself costs about £65 and that comes with two boxes of test sticks (which you need in the first month whilst it is getting used to your particular cycle). The test sticks are £9.99 for a box of 8 - which is how many you need per month after the first month. Have a look on the for sale thread on here as people are often getting rid of them. Would really recommend it as I always thought I was ovulating on cd14 whereas it told me I was ovulating later - cd19 and 20. I got pg with dd in my first month of using persona! You can use it afterwards as a contraceptive although I think most people would say its better used the other way round!!!Does that help???

runtus · 25/10/2004 15:44

Back again (why does my work go mad, just as MN gets really exciting??)........

Tania - I have had loads of people email me today asking if I'm ok after our big row, hadn't realised it was that public! We so don't row normally so I think it came as a bit of a shock to our mates! How embarassing.......

Have been told there are loads of good pictures around though so might try and post one if I can!

sweetheart · 25/10/2004 16:02

jeddah,

I thought I ov'd at around day 17 which would make me 16dpo however - after visiting the doctor and her saying she doesn't think I ovulate every month I think maybe this month was one where I didn't ovulate. I'm not holding out any hope of a BFP this month.

Runtus!!!!! Wow you do make me giggle!!!!

Twiga · 25/10/2004 16:03

JUst saying hi again while dn is sleeping, we've had such a fun, busy day in the park and meeting new friends, just waiting for uncle to get back from work so we can have our dinner. Probably shouldn't let her sleep for too long but she had such a heavy day and late night last night, hopefully do no harm.

Congratulations Pandagirl03, excellent news x

Welcome to Bonniej, Jiminycricket, Childmindersam and Colditzmum +++++++++

Jeddah, glad you had a super time in Barcelona, did you see many of the sights? I was going to test but am now in a real pickle - tested thurs (CD31) but got BFN, however I've also had some very light spotting, brownish pink not really enough to need a liner and my af normally just starts properly - not sure if this is my hormones still disrupted after mc in July or what - never experinced this before. Am as a result now scared to test again as if am pg will worry about the spotting, going to wait it out and see if af arrives - if not might test in another week or so - CONFUSED!
