welcome back hula- it has been a great run of +ives...hope that it continues for those of us left!!

Well girls can't believe how stressed I am about ttc- and it's only months 2 (23 months ttc ds!!). I either ovd on cd18 or cd20 (ds been night feeding so could have delayed ovulation) and temps are now soaring!! Just hoping that they keep up and get a bit higher....would be a lovely xmas pressie for dh!! A bfp that is!
so cd 24 (I think) here.

oh well....just feeling impatient I suppose. Really want a bfp soon......so hope that the unsuccessful cycles go quick!!

Hulababy · 30/10/2004 19:28

I know how you feel Geordie. I'm on Month 2, but DD also took a long time to arrive last time round. So hoping this time will be quicker.

MommyD · 30/10/2004 19:36

Geordie/Hula - I am also on cycle 2 of trying for #3 and straight away I have become impatient to get pregnant! Daft isn't it? I should really be wallowing in the contraception-free time (I haven't been back on the pill since sons (ages 1&2)) and we HATE HATE condoms......

velcrobott · 30/10/2004 19:57

Saw Golds is posting but not here....
Can anyone tell me how many days in a row you can have a positive from an ovulation test ?
Thanks

velcrobott · 30/10/2004 21:57

Where are you lot ? Surely not all BD

SHELY · 30/10/2004 22:44

hi mousey70, if you would have told me before it happened, i wouldn't have dropped dead on the spot---i wouldn't have believed it myself!! guess you never do know till it happens to you!

anyway, i know those stupid predictor kits and microscopes, can be alittle bit confusing, and hard to read to. i have the opk test strips, the lady q, saliva microscope, for the ferning, and the clear plan, fertility monitor, plus i check my cervix, and all that fun stuff, which i just started doing. never thought i'd try that one, sounded too gross, but it wasn't so bad. i have done this all, and no baby news to spread just yet. sucks doesn't it! the waiting till af is the worst part. i think soon it's gonna start taking it's toll on me. right now when af comes, i don't "cry", but iam sad for a couple days. i guess that will only get worse w/ time. i don't understand it really. tons of sex, years of bding, even before really trying, and not even one "scare", which never would have been a scare, but you know what i mean. nothin! doc's can't find anything wrong eigther! oh well, keep on keeping on. i go to my specialist again on 11/4. hopefully, he'll have some kind of test i can try or medication i can go on. it's getting hard to keep the sex life alive without just thinking about baby making! can't wait to get back to enjoying sex! that should happen after i get pg. till then, for all of us, best of luck, and i'll say some prayers for all of us approaching our af time! stay away you wicked old witch!! lol baby dust to all

SHELY · 30/10/2004 22:47

velcrobott- you usually have a positive ovulation test anywhere from a few hours, to a couple of days, i have heard, mine has only lasted a day or less, but it can happen, to be more then that in some lucky women. so, still keep doing some heavy bd-ing, even a few days after the positive line goes away. best of luck to you

SHELY · 30/10/2004 22:52

thanks munnzieb - a gift he will always be to me

i gotto go have myself a couple of pints lol. ughhi better wait till af comes, just in case. do you or anyone else know, how bad is it to have a couple drinks, if you have conceived, before you know it? abstaining completely is rough. i don't over do it, but i was just wondering, cause i could really use a beer or 2, every now and again. i read too much, some sites say alcohol causes impairment of infertility, but the hubby says i shouldn't believe everything i read, so i dont know what to think!

lots of love to all

BeckiF · 30/10/2004 23:22

Jeddah - my last cycle was TWELVE MONTHS! PCOS does that to you! LOL. Mind you, I am on 3mg of Metformin a day, the max dose you can be on, and have been for quite a few months. Maybe this will help regulate me a tad. Ah well.

Tania2 · 31/10/2004 04:57

SilverLining · 31/10/2004 08:56

Morning everyone! feel like I've been up for ever! Stupid neighbours car alarm trilling out at 4am and then DD up at what should have been 6am but with stupid clocks going back it was the unearthly hour of 5am arghhhhhhh!!!! Who wants to watch Stuart Little at that hour??!!!

Sorry for my silence despite best efforts to be more "chatty"! had bad day on friday - not 1, not 2 but 3 friends all announced unplanned pregancies!!! Soooooo jealous! . not proud of it but really felt so jealous of them all! Just what I wanted to hear "Oh, we weren't even trying" GRRRRRRR!!!!

Does that make me sound a horrid person??? I am pleased for them but you all know what I mean??

had a lovely day yesterday - went into London and saw Chicago with my girlfriends and then dinner and lots of wine afterwards!!! !

Off the Bluewater today for shopping therapy!!

Will be back later - hope everyone is well!! If no trick or treaters come I've got a vast array of chocolate for later on .... xxx

jeddah · 31/10/2004 09:01

hiya silverlining!

know what you mean about jelousy thing..........3 of our friends are now pregnant....it just kills me.....one of the couples is our best friends!!!

it will be our time soom....cd10 for us today ah?

jeddah · 31/10/2004 09:01

soon even!!

SilverLining · 31/10/2004 09:07

thanks Jeddah - perfectly summed up! don't know why it got to me so much but it did and poor DH took my reaction quite badly - he just couldn't see why I wasn't over the moon for them - which I was but ... you know what I mean! Anyway, bless him he went to Boots and bought some OPK(buy one get second half price!) and brought them home like the crown jewels as a gift!!! Didn't really want to go down that route and have promised him far more bed action regardless but it just made me feel better!

So CD10 onwards for us and I'm trying to relax now I had my hysteria fit out of the way - sure a little shopping will be good for the soul!!!

have a good day - shouldn't you be knee deep in chilli yet????

Thanks for the words of encouragement ... xxx

velcrobott · 31/10/2004 09:11

Good morning everyone !
Thanks Shely for your reply... I will do an OV test again tonight.. I hope it's negative otherwise I will have to wonder if my sticks are wrong... or maybe I can't read them properly... can't find the instructions
Jeddah - how many days in a row can one have a positive on OV sticks, I have had 2 days already !

hester · 31/10/2004 09:28

Hi Silverlining, so sorry you're about all the pregnancies around you. It's HARD having to keep a smile stretched on your face when you want to scream 'What about me?'. I normally manage it, but did burst into tears when one friend told me she was pg at what was a particularly low moment for me. She felt awful, I felt awful...

Welcome pooka! This thread is very lucky, we'll have populated a small town by Christmas

ebbie - sorry to hear about your BFN. How long ar e you going to wait before testing again?

Tania - sounds to me like you may have reduced your chances of conceiving this month but you still BDed when you had eggwhite so you're still in with a good chance. Try not to worry - I've had friends swear that it was the least likely month (i.e. the month they scraped in just one BD at a less than perfect time) that worked for them
Btw Tania, I got chatting yesterday to this young guy who works in a newsagent near me, who told me he's off to live in Melbourne because he met this girl from there on holiday and now she's pregnant. Ah, the young! I was open-mouthed (and not a little jealous) at how easily he's turning his life around and rushing off to fatherhood.

Pamina, I'll email you.

Jeddah, your party sounds great and my tummy is rumbling at the thought of chilli, brownies and parkin (haven't eaten parkin in YEARS - my mum used to make it!). Can we all come? (Visions of hordes of broody mumsnetters descending on Yorkshire farmhouse, storming up the drive demanding chocolate, wine and fertile CM, Jeddah and guests barricaded in kitchen with only slabs of parkin to defend themselves...)
I've been ttc for 10 months now. But a couple of years ago we tried for about 10 months again. So even though my test results are all fine, it doesn't look like I'm burstingly fertile . Trouble is, at our age it's hard to know whether we've just been unlucky (at 40, it often takes a couple of years to conceive even if you are fertile) or whether there is a real problem (other than age, I mean; which obviously is a problem in itself).
I've been pg before - 24 years ago (now, THAT makes me feel old!) - and it is staggering how when you're young you can practically get pg through a horsehair blanket, while at our age you plan and obsess and do everything you can to help you along, and still the damn thing doesn't happen...

But I'm not going to finish on a down note. Have a lovely Sunday, all. Am I right in thinking we've had three BFPs so far this thread? (head like a sieve). We need to get a move on if we're to hit our target eight, don't we? Come on, who's testing next?

Tania2 · 31/10/2004 09:43

Jeddah thanks for the positive feedback i really hope iam still in for a chance.
Silverlining poor you it really hurts when people get pg so easily you cant help but say why not me
Hester oh shit do you really think i have blown this month i thought of it this way if we bd friday sperm produces on saturday then we bd on sunday (thats if they arent drunk swimmers!!) I dont know i can just hope it works.
Wow what a nice guy not many people let alone men will give everything up for someone on the other side of the world.
DH is home now and we have just put ds to bed so must go do the do and bums on pillow for an hour tonight will i watch tv. Hope it works.

OP posts:
Tania2 · 31/10/2004 09:45

Hi All, just popped in to catch up..who's next to test? Got to wait a while myself but hope there's a few vicarious BFP's happening for others in the meantime. DH being v helpful in the BDing dept, might go and drag him off now actually. Happy halloween!
