Just bought my first real coffee since mid October as I forgot I had only been on decaf. I am going to be awake and anxious all day 😂 did anyone else try to cut it out previously? I did and I’m wondering if there was even any point or if I could have just had my one a day and been fine

MSG92 · 23/12/2020 09:51

@PumpkinEverything I was allowing myself 1 a day, but my bean has made me dislike my morning coffee that I've been drinking consistently for about 12 years🤔 joy! It just doesn't taste of anything now, stopped eaying eggs too, I've had about 8-10 a week since lockdown began but now had about 6 in the last 10 weeks.

PumpkinEverything · 23/12/2020 10:06

@MSG92 I’ve heard people say that before about coffee! Crazy about the eggs though, wouldn’t have expected that one. I love eggs too 😊

bez91 · 23/12/2020 12:04

@MSG92 I read that as "stopped laying eggs" 🙈😆
@PumpkinEverything I cut out caffeine completely, it took me ages to stop getting what I presume were withdrawal headaches so I've just stuck to decaf again for now 😊

PumpkinEverything · 23/12/2020 12:08

I actually felt so much better cutting it out @bez91 it made me realise how anxious it made me for absolutely no reason, or increased when I had something to be anxious about, and I felt like I slept better too. I’ve been sticking to decaf as well since my MMC but forgot today because I got distracted as I was ordering food, and was too busy making sure I asked for almond milk instead of regular 😂 hoping it helps with our TTC journey and then my alcohol intake has been limited this year due to lack of social activities, so I’ll be drinking way less than usual this Christmas!

familybythesea · 23/12/2020 13:28

Just marking my place, thanks @Bellabubble.

bubblybrit · 23/12/2020 13:34

Afternoon all.

Just popping over from the previous thread.

I think my bleeding has stopped so guess I’m waiting on first AF after miscarriage. I know that you can try straight away but I’d rather know my dates so holding off until AF appears. I’m kinda hoping I’m not waiting 6 weeks but I know it will just be my luck!

Hope everyone is ok x

susiebluebell · 23/12/2020 14:42

Ah I'm feeling a bit worried about my caffeine intake now after reading your comments and looking on the Miscarriage Assoc website. I do drink a fair amount of coffee, maybe 4-5 cups a day? I have been drinking decaf after lunchtime but am feeling guilty and worrying that coffee contributed to my miscarriage and/or is preventing me conceiving... 😕 Currently sitting here with a headache from not having had caffeine this morning 🙄

Hanbanxx · 23/12/2020 14:45

Hi everyone, does this look like I've ovulated (last test)? This is my first cycle since miscarriage... we are so desperate to try again so I'm trying to be as positive as possible! Xx

Bellabubble · 23/12/2020 15:08

@Hanbanxx - no thats showing it has detected your LH surge - which kickstarts ovulation - ovulation can now happen anytimw from 12-36hrs after :) they say the next couple of days would potentially be your most fertile xx

OP posts:
Bellabubble · 23/12/2020 15:10

@Hanbanxx keep testing though - altbough the last one looks pretty high - you want to see them decrease and get a bit lighter again, that way you know you got your peak which means the lh surge has happened. It might continue to get higher for you (everyone has different peak levels) - once I see a coupld that get lower readings than my peak - I don’t bither doing anymore opks for that cycle

@susiebluebell - don't worry the advice on caffeine is mostly precautionary (i.e. there isn't clear understanding on how/to what extent it might increase risks). There's some evidence it might be worth lowering it if it's 5 or above. The studies on it aren't very good, because they're all observational so it's hard to draw solid conclusions from them. Lots of people reduce just in case, but it's very unlikely to have contributed. I reduced down to one (fairly strong) coffee a day but it's out of paranoia more than good evidence!

susiebluebell · 23/12/2020 15:55

Thanks @vitaminb33 that's actually put my mind to rest!

TheDaydreamBelievers · 23/12/2020 16:07

Like others, I cut back to 1 coffee a day, but I'm not too worried about it!

M4v3r1ck · 23/12/2020 16:17

Welcome to the newcomers! Sorry for the reason that you're on this group, but they're a fab bunch! 😘

Just back from hospital - confirmed MMC. Going to see how next week or so goes (would be ideal to proceed naturally), then consider surgical management. Can I ask if anyone opted for local anesthetic surgical management, and if so, was it ok (or as ok as it can be)?

@vitaminb33@Bellabubble oh gosh, I can't imagine getting phoned like that! I made a point today to make sure everything was cancelled!

@PumpkinEverything and others, I'm a total tea Jenny, but went from four cups down to two (the other two are now decaf). Spoke to midwife about it and she was absolutely fine with some caffeine, and in fact said it may be more stressful if I cut out completely, especially since I enjoy it! But the good thing is that I am mindful of it! The nhs guidelines advise on caffeine amounts, and I'm sure you can have one or two cups of coffee on the limits stated! 😃

@bubblybrit great news re: bleeding stopping! Hopefully you can get on the TTC train soon! 😍

Good luck to those of you in your fertile weeks! 🤞🏻 for some BFPs soon!

Hope everyone's Christmas plans are going well or as well as they can be! DH outdid himself on party food and cheese this morning! 🤣😘

PumpkinEverything · 23/12/2020 16:30

So sorry to worry you @susiebluebell ! I only ever drank one cup a day anyway, and I’m very sensitive to caffeine (a can of Diet Coke with dinner has me up all night) which is why I made the decision to cut out my coffee, as I’d rather get my caffeine from the chocolate I eat every day. I was just a bit nervous but I know it’s fine😊

@M4v3r1ck I had mine under general, but I believe @bez91 might have had local. I’d never had general before and was worried about it, but it was honestly completely fine! I just didn’t want to be aware of anything that was happening to me, it wasn’t the pain that scared me.

bubblybrit · 23/12/2020 16:35

Hope things start to happen naturally for you soon @M4v3r1ck. I’m going to enjoy Christmas and then start thinking about TTC in the new year. Cannot wait to see the back of 2020!

bumpyknuckles · 23/12/2020 16:36

@M4v3r1ck I had an MVA under local in September. It was ok. Not the best day of my life, but ok.

bez91 · 23/12/2020 17:33

@M4v3r1ck yes as @PumpkinEverything said mine was under local and just as @bumpyknuckles says really, I had mine 3 weeks ago. I would say it depends on your pain threshold, if you can't bare any pain then it's probably not the best option for you.
Emotionally, unless you're a highly emotive person then I would recommend it. Over with quickly, no drowsiness if comparing to the general, take care x

bumpyknuckles · 23/12/2020 17:52

@M4v3r1ck I had a local anaesthetic, paracetamol and gas & air, and wasn't in any pain at all. It was uncomfortable but not painful.
I agree with @bez91 - it was nice to get it over with quickly. It's less risky than a general anaesthetic too, and quicker. Thinking of you x

vitaminb33 · 23/12/2020 22:02

@M4v3r1ck I'm so sorry for your loss it's really tough still being in the midst of it. It's probably very individual but I found once the miscarriage was complete I felt a lot better.

I had an MVA under local anaesthetic, I think the only thing I would check is what pain relief your hospital provides. As @bumpyknuckles said she had gas and air, some places only provide paracetamol which is pretty insufficient (as the local anaesthetic only applies to a very specific area). As others have said it also depends a lot on pain threshold and what you can emotionally cope with. My hospital gave a diclofenac suppository to take beforehand (fun, but at least pretty good pain relief), and I rang and asked if I could also take co-codamol too and they recommended I take as much pain relief as I had available beforehand (obviously making sure everything was safe to take together). So in the end I had co-codamol and diclofenac before the MVA, plus the local anaesthetic. Personally I found the codeine in the co-codamol helped mentally as it always makes me a bit out of it.

In the end my experience of the MVA was okay, the worst part of it was that it was in the same room I had my scan in. They allowed my partner to be there with me, and the student nurse (who was a superstar) talked and distracted me the whole time. With the painkillers I had I would describe it as uncomfortable but bearable. I think for me it was as okay as it could be! It was over quickly, I only had to stay in the hospital for a short time, it was definitely the right decision for me.

elsimo · 24/12/2020 08:41

Morning guys :) What's everyones experince of how accurate easy @ home pregnancy tests are?
I'm now 14dpo, my period is a couple days late which I would kinda expect since this is first cycle since mc but the thing thats weird is a few days ago I had cramping and spotting like af was about to arrive and then it disappeared and nothing!!
PG tests are negative but only used the easy@home ones.

Xx

PumpkinEverything · 24/12/2020 09:53

@elsimo I used them the month I got pregnant and found them to be quite good. I got a very faint line at 11 DPO on one of them, and then kept using them to see the line progress and I confirmed at 13 DPO using an FRER 😊 had you confirmed ovulation?

M4v3r1ck · 24/12/2020 10:37

Thank you so much for sharing your experience, ladies! This is incredibly helpful to me! 😘

@bubblybrit omg yes, bring on 2021 already!!!

@elsimo I'm the same as @PumpkinEverything, used them the month I got pregnant and seemed to work well for me. Used first thing in the morning when hormone levels are supposed to be highest. I then double confirmed a few days later with a clear blue test. Have you been tracking your BBT? Mine stayed elevated and that's also a good indicator! 😃

Happy Christmas Eve ladies! Hope you're all good! 😍

SophW194 · 24/12/2020 10:58

@elsimo I have only used them after my MC to check whether my levels were going back down to zero and found them pretty good for checking that but can’t say for trying to see a positive ! Keeping my fingers crossed for you x
