Anyone else on the TWW and hoping for a Christmas miracle

Hi everyone,

This is our first cycle TTC, and whilst I promised myself I would stay calm and collected, truthfully I am the total opposite. I can't switch off from thinking about it.

It's taken my OH a while to come to terms with trying to start a family. Whilst we have been together since we were 15 (now 27) he always wanted to earn more, to have a bigger house etc but he's come to finally realise that it's never the right time and we just have to go for it. I was so so pleased he was finally ready but promised we would keep it relaxed and calm. If it happens, it happens,

But working from home and not having anything else to do, I just can't switch off from my mind wondering 🙈 wondered if there was anyone else in the same boat who just wants to chat really?

I'm due AF on Christmas Day so it would be such a Christmas miracle if she doesn't come.

@ELBlack oh I meant to ask if you're going to wait for your 12 week scan before announcing? Or are you just to excited?! Have you got a grand announcement idea yet?

ELBlack · 19/01/2021 10:10

@Foundmyfeet Hahaha not a gooner. Tbh I'm not a massive football fan 😬 I watch the world Cup but that's about it 😂

Aww you poor thing, that sounds so awful, but I can totally understand. I think with a MMC you're hoping everything is OK, because there's no bleed or big signs, so as horrendous as either one is, I think it's harder to believe and accept with a mmc, especially if you have a bump.

Yes we are, I just feel so worried something may go wrong that I want to get to a 'safe' point. It's strange because I have some days where I'm starting to feel pregnant and so excited and happy and other days where I just worry (even though I'm still excited) just hoping with every part of me that it is a full term, healthy pregnancy x

Foundmyfeet · 19/01/2021 15:30

@ELBlack - Oh thank goodness you're not a gooner...we can still be friends! Lol! Only joking. DH is a gooner....it's fun and games in this house on derby day. I love the world cup. In fact, I love any sports world cup where England is being represented..even if I don't understand the rules!

It's absolutely natural to worry especially when we want things so badly. Just enjoy the pregnancy; I was once told the hardest part is conception in a physiological and scientific meaning, so you've done that bit already :) I don't know if I necessarily agree with that statement because I had a bastard of a pregnancy with my DD! Lol! Everything you could have as a pregnant person, I had. Luckily DD was never at any risk, but I was terribly uncomfortable, miserable and peed off a lot of the time...oh the joys!

I promise, promise, promise I won't ever complain again if I get my rainbow baby!!

Just put your feet up and milk the pregnant person excuses for all you can...get pampered and fussed over because once baby arrives, you won't get a bloody look in! Lol! x

@Mariex1989 - how are you today?

Mariex1989 · 19/01/2021 19:46

@Foundmyfeet I’m not too bad thank you. Soooo tired, works been absolutely mental the last week. Been having early nights so not getting to DTD much, so I think this cycles out before it’s even properly begun!

How’re you feeling? It’ll be almost testing time for you won’t it? Eeeek x

ELBlack · 19/01/2021 19:57

@Foundmyfeet hahaha my DH isn't a massive football fan, so I don't even know what Derby day is 😂😬

Yeah you're right, I'm feeling more relaxed this evening. I keep reminding myself I'm only 4+2 so it's perfectly normal not to have loads of symptoms. I did an Internet cheapie this morning and the line was darker, so everything is going as its supposed to, I just wish I had a more significant symptom other than the bloating and needing to wee.

Oh you poor thing, that sounds horrid! I guarantee after saying I have no severe symptoms I'll end up with something next week 😂

Really hope you get your rainbow baby soon 🌈❤️

@Mariex1989 from the date I peaked, I worked out me and DH would have only had 1 chance of success (because the other time was 5 days before so would have been 6 days by the time the egg dropped) so try not to worry. Once is all it takes x

Mariex1989 · 19/01/2021 20:44

@ELBlack that’s encouraging 😊 goes to show you don’t have to be at it 24/7 for success!

I’m literally jumping into bed now I can’t wait any longer, but hopefully after a good rest tonight I’ll be more “in the mood” tomorrow 🤞🏻. I feel awful saying it like that 😂 but it’s just been one of those tiring couple of weeks

ELBlack · 19/01/2021 20:55

@Mariex1989 yeah definitely! Partly why I was so shocked we actually conceived this month.

Aww bless you, I went to bed at 8 last night and slept for 10 hours 😂 hope you feel a bit more rested soon!

Foundmyfeet · 20/01/2021 09:19

@Mariex1989 hope you got some decent kip last night. It's good that work is keeping you busy; takes the edge off constantly thinking about conception! This diet I'm doing has occupied my mind too. Thinking more about my next meal than my next child! AF is due any day now so theoretically I should be testing next week if she doesn't arrive. But she will. I can feel that cowbag coming! I had a slight headache last night and I woke in the middle of the night a bit sweaty which means she'll be here later today or tomorrow. 😤

@ELBlack so glad that the lines are getting darker. It's all positive stuff. Yes, as the weeks progress, you may get more symptoms or not. I know so many people who didn't feel pregnant and I envied them because I had hyperemesis gravidarum until 13weeks. It nigh on killed me! I was hospitalised for a few days on an IV to rehydrate me. They also gave me anti-sickness injections which were a god send even though it hurt my butt cheek when administering! I lost weight too. A friend came to visit me in the midst of it all and said,"You look skinny! I thought you said you were pregnant?!" Having pregnancy symptoms is definitely comforting but I hope you get the nice easy ones!

Mariex1989 · 20/01/2021 11:04

@ELBlack haha you have a good excuse for going to bed early with your body working overload and making a baby!

@Foundmyfeet that sounds absolutely awful 💔.
Oh no! You never know until she arrives though 🤞🏻🤞🏻 Keep us updated and I’m crossing my fingers for you.

Work seems to have eased off a bit today so I’m going to treat myself to some wine tonight screw it!

ELBlack · 20/01/2021 12:48

Ladies, the hormones are strong today. I had the wildest dreams all night, like utterly bizarre, and I kept waking up because I could smell my DH 😂😂 not that he smells bad, but I could just smell him so strongly it woke me up.

Feeling really good today, lots of energy (although starting to get sore boobs) and despite the mass bloating and constantly needing to pee, I don't feel tired! Hurrah.

@Foundmyfeet really hope af doesn't come, you never know, could be a baby 💕omg you poor thing, HG sounds awful, I'm really hoping I don't get it. Sounds like utter hell.

@Mariex1989 yes definitely have a wine! I was t total in my first tww bit this time I though fuck it, and I had wine throughout, up until I got my bfp. I think it helps 🍷😂

Emmgrem · 20/01/2021 15:02

@ELBlack congrats! 🙌🙌🙌 That's so encouraging how squinty line eyes your 9dpo test was and then the digital! Did you take any more FRERs to see them get stronger?

Also with symptoms, did you find the BFP month any different to pms symptoms?

I'm back in the tww and driving myself a bit mad. One minute wishing for symptoms and the next getting annoyed if I cramp or my boobs twinge because I had all that last month and it was just pms symptoms. But like every single day from ovulation onwards which seems strange. I always thought pms should only be a few days pre-AF but then I was on the pill for 13 years so can't remember 😂

ELBlack · 20/01/2021 16:47

@emmgrem thank you! 😊

Yes, my lines have progressed really well. I did a frer yesterday and my test line was stronger than the control line, and did an Internet cheapie today which was nearly as dark as test line, compared to 2 days ago when it was a lot lighter.

Tbh its so hard for me to say, because this was only out 2nd month ttc and I only got my period for the first time in 2.5 years last month. All I would say is that I really felt like I was coming on, and didn't feel like I could be pregnant 😂

Pms is so similar to early pregnancy, so the may be signs for you! The only thing I had which definitely wasn't pms for me was very prickly heat and itching all over my legs and arms

Mariex1989 · 20/01/2021 18:11

@ELBlack I was literally waiting for the clock to strike 5 and immediately poured one 😂.

Do you have any names picked out? I know it’s early for this but I love hearing peoples thoughts on names 🤗

ELBlack · 20/01/2021 18:22

Hahaha I don't blame you @Mariex1989 my husband bought me some non alcoholic beers. I've never had one before, so let's see...

I have a list of names which I've had on my phone forever, but nothing I'm set on. We like quite traditional names, but I want something special! I don't think we will find out the sex, so I'll probably be deciding up until baby is here 😂 x

Foundmyfeet · 20/01/2021 20:15

Evening ladies! I wrote a message earlier today but it hasn't posted up for some reason. I'm thinking that I didn't hit the "post" button. Could it be baby brain?! Lol! Grasping at straws here!

@ELBlack - come on the hormones!! The heightened sense of smell is absolutely nuts. I could smell people 16 miles away from me. And whatever smell turns you off now due to pregnancy, you will forever hate! 15 years on and I still can't stand Gingernut biscuits because I "gingered" myself all out to try and help with the morning sickness. Didn't work though.
I think it's great that you want to have the surprise rather than finding out the sex. It makes it so much more exciting!

@Mariex1989 enjoy that drink or 2! Have one for me also. Limiting myself to a small glass of red on a Saturday night. And I reckon ELBlack is right, it all helps! Lol!

I'm hitting the "post" button now...writing it out so I know I've done it!

Foundmyfeet · 20/01/2021 20:16

Yep it worked! Lol!

Mariex1989 · 20/01/2021 20:53

@ELBlack the non alcoholic gins are quite nice! If ever I’ve driven somewhere and wanted to feel like I’m drinking, they do they trick! The 0% kopperberg’s are good as well.
That’s really nice that you’re waiting, it’ll be an amazing surprise! You’re more patient than I am though. The minute I get a BFP I’ll be wanting to know the sex 🙈.

@Foundmyfeet 😂😂 you do make me chuckle. Hopefully it’s baby brain! No AF yet? Good sign! Hopefully she stays away!!!!!

ELBlack · 20/01/2021 21:27

@Foundmyfeet it's weird because some days my smell is crazy and I smell everything and other days I just smell normal things but heightened. Luckily I've not become a bloodhound yet, and I've not got nausea either.

@Mariex1989 yes so many 0% options now. DH is doing a food shop tomorrow so I'll get him to pick some options up.

Yeah it's nice to keep it a surprise. We don't want to draw conclusions about who they are until they're born, and I just know if we find out the sex we will decide a name and then before we know it, we've created an identity for them. I also think it will keep me going through contractions 😂😂

Foundmyfeet · 20/01/2021 22:17

@ELBlack - I agree with you. I waited until DD was born to know she was a girl. But throughout my pregnancy my mum kept going on about it being a girl and was even calling my bump by the girls name which I had in mind. It. INFURIATED. Me!! As it turned out, it was a girl and I did end up giving her that name anyway! Lol! But still...!

@Mariex1989 - she's not here yet but if I get a BFP instead of AF this month, I promise I will run down the street naked with a bowl of tropical fruits on my head, record it and post it on YouTube!

ELBlack · 21/01/2021 09:08

Morning ladies, having a bit of a wobble today. I didn't have any crazy dreams last night and my boobs aren't as sore as yesterday. I'm only 4+4 so I know it's so early still, but I did an IC and it looks a bit lighter than yesterday. I'm not sure what I'm looking for here, just a hand hold I think xx

Foundmyfeet · 21/01/2021 09:29

@ELBlack please, please don't panic!! Back away from the pregnancy strips. Every day is different. Symptoms come and go. You may not feel many symptoms today but tomorrow you could wake up feeling like you've been hit by a truck! You are still early and your body is still adjusting. I know so many women who had zero symptoms throughout (b**es!!) and don't forget those who don't even know they're pregnant until the baby is halfway out!

I know the daily testing is having somewhat of an insight and element of control but you can't test everyday for the next 7/8 weeks. You will become crazy, particularly if the line shades are varying. All you can do is look after yourself, physically and emotionally. I don't know if you have a faith, but in case you do, "give it to God. Leave your problems and worries for Him. He will look after you." I live by this now, I learnt the hard way but it was a process that made me alter my outlook on life and free me of lots of anxieties. I'm no bible basher by the way! And I don't mean to cause any offence.

Also, I only had a handful of crazy dreams in my pregnancy. My boobs weren't sore all the time either...just massive! Honestly. Xx

ELBlack · 21/01/2021 09:42

@Foundmyfeet thanks so much for replying! In my logical mind, I know it's silly. Because each day is different, and so many people don't find out they're pregnant yet. I will stop testing I think, it's not doing any good for my mental health. For example yesterday my line was so much darker than 2 days before and I was instantly in a good mood. I have to trust my instincts and just hope everything turns out OK, which I'm sure it will.

I'm not a believer, but I do believe what will be, will be, and I can't control it. I feel like this year we will have a beautiful healthy baby, so I am just trying to hold onto that feeling.

Thanks so much for being so kind and supportive! It's really helped xx

Mariex1989 · 21/01/2021 10:27

@ELBlack please don’t panic about the lines, like @Foundmyfeet said you will send yourself crazy. Even if it’s slightly lighter it’s still a hell of a good line 😊. I’ve read so many threads that say the symptoms come and go. If you start stressing you can always book an early scan privately. My friend did this at 8 weeks as she wasn’t haven’t any symptoms, but she’s just recently given birth to a healthy baby boy 😊.

Omg please please PLEASE you have to do that foundmyfeet!!! Of course I’ve always hoped you get your BFP but even more so now 😂.

The wine last night helped me get my mojo back so we’re away with the BD-ing now. No idea if it’s the “right” time of the cycle but only time will tell I guess and have fun while we wait 😉

ELBlack · 21/01/2021 13:57

Thanks so much @Mariex1989 I know I'm being silly about the lines, but it's the only thing I have to see the baby is OK. I did a long lunch time walk and feeling much better now. As you both said (and my sister, and my mum, and my best friend, and my husband 😂🙄) symptoms do come and go. I filled my car up with fuel today and I had my mask on whilst doing it, but omg the smell was soooooo strong I had to turn my head. That made me feel better 😂

I've booked a scan for 13th Feb, when I will be 7+6 so really looking forward to that!

That's reassuring about your friend, every woman is different, just need to remember that x

Mariex1989 · 22/01/2021 11:15

@ELBlack aww that’s great you’ve got your early scan! How exciting. Make sure you let us know how it goes 😊 how’re you feeling today?

@Foundmyfeet how’re you doing? Any sign of AF or BFP?
