@orangeloo what a nightmare, you poor thing. I wouldn't even want to do ivf at that hospital, they sound so incompetent. Good thing you're transferring. I'm on cd11, lining was 7.5mm on cd8, so I'm on the right track. It's getting so real now I'm starting to get nervous lol.

@starkid if you hold a piece of ice to the skin where you inject for about a minute, you won't feel anything at all, not even a tiny sting. Hopefully your AF comes soon but make sure you let them know if you start spotting, that might be considered the start of your period, you don't want to miss it. I don't remember, will you be doing fresh or frozen transfer?

orangeloo · 12/12/2020 14:53

@KatBeCool thanks lovely. Yes so glad I'm moving.
Oh wow really real now then and good news 👍 are you out in (Mexico was it?) now then?

OP posts:
starkid · 12/12/2020 15:00

@KatBeCool - i'm doing a fresh cycle/transfer Smile thanks for the ice tip! I don't believe my clinic want to know when exactly I get my period, just as long as it's come before my scans start in January

KatBeCool · 20/12/2020 06:12

It's almost time! Transfer is Monday! I am covid clear and everything is a go! Please send all the best vibes!

orangeloo · 22/12/2020 10:46

@KatBeCool Monday as in yesterday? 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼 wishing you all the luck and baby dust! X

starkid · 22/12/2020 11:32

@KatBeCool ah missed your message - hope everything went well!

KatBeCool · 22/12/2020 12:51

@orangeloo Monday as in yesterday! I did opt in for assisted hatching and embryo glue. Boy, they sure make you feel like you're on display especially with a giant 8-bulb light shining straight "in there". I drank about 650ml of liquids and that ended up being perfect, bladder was completely full but I wasn't dying to pee all over the people, being in the compromised position and all. Whoever says to drink over a 1000ml is insane. Now we wait. I'm trying to feel it but obviously it's not significant enough, but I can't explain it to my brain because I want this to happen so bad. How are things with you? Any progress with the private hospital?

@starkid it did, thank you! A lot easier and far less painful than I thought it would. How are you doing?

starkid · 22/12/2020 12:56

@KatBeCool - Thank you for the liquid amount recommendation! And yes hard to act cool when you want something so bad

I'm doing ok on the down-reg injections, only recent side effects have been hot flushes all night and on-off headaches. I somehow made myself bleed a fair bit doing an injection this morning so think that's gonna bruise! Also my period finished a couple of days ago but I suddenly had some brown discharge this morning, not sure what that's all about. Don't have the first scan until 8th of Jan so hopefully lining will be ok thickness-wise by then!

KatBeCool · 22/12/2020 13:15

@starkid sounds like you hit a blood vessel, I've done that once or twice, I'm sure everyone has. Just apply pressure right away and it won't bleed. So how is your process happening then? Are they not doing anything until the 8th at all and then all of a sudden your lining needs to be magically good? What about baseline scans, and follicle growth, and egg collection? I think I'm missing something. I was under the impression that first cycle you down reg, and then they start the egg collection and transfer cycle, if doing fresh. Or are they doing a mock transfer cycle?

starkid · 22/12/2020 13:20

@KatBeCool - so I've been down-regging since the 3rd Dec, then will have my baseline scan on the 8th Jan and look to start ovary stims on the 10th :) then more scans on the 15th, 18th and 20th.
So am I wrong for thinking they'd be looking for the lining to be a certain way at that baseline scan?

KatBeCool · 22/12/2020 13:31

@starkid ahh, well you're not wrong entirely. At first they need to make sure your lining is actually very thin, 2-5mm. They also make sure you don't have any leading follicles but that's also why you down reg, to quiet your ovaries. Anything over 11mm is usually a no go. I had one at 10mm. Then the lining needs to thicken to over 8mm by the time they do trigger/egg collection and preferably be triple layered.

orangeloo · 22/12/2020 14:49

@KatBeCool glad it went well and you had the right amount of fullness haha. Thanks for the tip I always need a wee and hate the sensation of needing a wee so that's useful to bear in mind.
Will be thinking of you and yeah all the feelings and emotions must just be crazy like starkid says because it's wanted so much.

Well I'm having my infection screen re-done tomorrow, first one was fine. But new clinic didn't accept the online swab service which was all I could get at the time due to Covid. Also having the blood part redone because existing clinic can't seem to get act together and acknowledge that blood part is already done by a hospital, clear and there in black and white. I couldn't keep having the same conversation so I just caved and said I'll just have it all done again - only blood and dignity.
Luckily not losing additional time for it as New clinic also want DP viral screen ( some clinic just require the woman) so we're are having a lovely Christmas trip to hospital together tomorrow haha.
After all that we should be done with crap old clinic and onto new who will request funding and I really hope process isn't too long.

Getting close to starting stims @starkid exciting!

Sorry for long post

KatBeCool · 22/12/2020 15:45

@orangeloo what a run around. I hate places that insist "oh but you have to get this stuff done only at our clinic". At least it's just blood. My clinic required my husband to test and they all should. One of them said it's because they store embryos and sperm and they don't want any infected ones in case there's ever a mistake and someone else ends up it. For HIV ones they have a special freezer or special secluded container since you can't really cure that but still can have healthy children. Although some clinics might deny it. So with this are you looking at starting with your next next AF? At least they aren't closed due to covid like everything before.

orangeloo · 22/12/2020 16:13

@KatBeCool I would love to start at my next AF but with Xmas in the way and then still having to apply for funding I can't see it happening. I hope it's the AF after that at least 🤞🏼

OP posts:
KatBeCool · 22/12/2020 16:34

@orangeloo that's why I said "next next" :) it's still soon regardless. More time to take all the texts supplements to better your eggs and DH sperm. In the retrospect, I wish I would've started my supplements sooner. Are they testing your vitamin D? I had mine tested four times in this whole process.

orangeloo · 22/12/2020 16:53

@KatBeCool ah I see sorry haha. Yes I have been taking my supplements for a long time time but missed a few days In The last couple of weeks. So must stay on track now. No, no one has ever mentioned vitamin D to me although I have been taking it about 6 months after I read that's it's important for fertility. Wow, 4 times is a lot, is that common? Or just your clinic being very thorough.

OP posts:
KatBeCool · 22/12/2020 17:13

@orangeloo I think my clinic is being a bit too thorough. It's not normal. Once it's plenty if levels are good, which mine were. But I would definitely get it tested for both of you. Even paying out of pocket is worth it. You don't want it too low but you don't want too high either. Plus you can adjust your daily dose if you know the result. I was reading that you want to aim between 50 and 60 for the result.

orangeloo · 22/12/2020 18:47

@KatBeCool ah okay interesting. Thank you i will look into it. X

Happy new year ladies how we all doing? I had a real weird triggering situation. My DP's friends with a couple currently heavily pregnant they have had multiple losses. He saw them the other day and the girl gave him black market clomid to give to me. I know she's just trying to be nice but for some reason it angered me and made cry. For one it's black market I don't trust it. Two I ovulate anyway that is not my issue which I have told her in the past. I'm hoping we will start IVF soon so can't be risking messing with my hormones now. I guess I just find the lack of understanding frustrating. Felt like unsolicited advice on steroids for me. DP couldn't understand why I was so miffed and I know it came from a good place and may sound like an utter bitch. I just didn't appreciate a couple thinking they are giving us the key to a baby when it's way more complicated than that.
Hope you guys are good and I wish us all baby dust for 2021.

KatBeCool · 11/01/2021 03:12

Happy new year, all!

I hate to say it, but my transfer did not work. DH wants to try again so we're considering going for another round in a couple of months. Until then I was given letrozole to try so it's not completely nothing.

@orangeloo I would feel quite iffy accepting medication from other people regardless of their intentions unless I literally saw them get it from an actual pharmacy and it's something that is useful to me. As far clomid, I've seen it prescribed to people who ovulate as it doesn't just make you ovulate but supposed to affect follicle growth as well.

starkid · 11/01/2021 08:42

@katbecool I'm so sorry to hear that. Make sure to look after yourself so your ready emotionally to start again.

I had my baseline scan Friday and lining was thin enough so started stims yesterday

orangeloo · 11/01/2021 09:14

@KatBeCool I'm so sorry to hear that. Was really hoping for you. FX for the letrozole.

Oh yes definitely, I'm not taking it. As you say I don't know it's origins and I know it should be taken under medical supervision also.

@starkid glad your lining was okay and congrats on starting stims. Hopefully you won't get many side effects although we all know we'll take side effects that get us closer to our goal.

I saw a post that people at my clinic who had appointments in September weren't starting IVF until March. They haven't even requested my funding yet so I don't know what that will mean for me time wise. Had a little cry and was really stressed on Friday DP said to look into private but it's a stretch for money and we don't want to do it if it will only be a couple months difference In The wait times. Also very conscious that if it doesn't work obviously then we will need to pay again. I feel I've been waiting forever already and the waiting is really getting to me. I know we are lucky to have nhs funding option but the whole process has been terribly slow and very stressful in itself as they have been so disorganised. I have some phone calls to make this week and I hope things will become clearer.

OP posts:
starkid · 11/01/2021 09:38

@orangeloo - the waiting is the worst as it's like wasted months/cycles. Is there any way to apply for the NHS funding at a different clinic maybe, see what the wait times there are?
I didn't have many side effects on the down red drugs except hot flushes and acne so fingers crossed I don't get many again!

orangeloo · 11/01/2021 09:47

@starkid I'm moving clinic already which has been half of the problem. The original nhs hospital I went through all the initials then they said due to the way they are sharing patients out atm I won't fall under them and had to move. I would like IVf where I'm going it's just the old hospital getting everything together and messing me around.
I know I risk sounding ungrateful but yes it's just awful all the waiting. I got referred from My GP in august and have wanted to have a baby for years and now been trying for years. I'm just not sure how much more waiting I can take.

orangeloo · 14/01/2021 14:45

Finally had some good news on Monday. Funding was approved - can back same day and done with the rubbish hospital. Now under new one only and they said I should have an appointment end of feb ish which is a lot quicker than I thought. Felt so relieved and weight off my shoulders not to have to keep chasing and banging my head against a wall.

How are stims treating you @starkid ?
