Hello!

Did anyone know they had conceived before taking a test? Did you notice anything obvious? Feel different? Or just know?!

FippertyGibbett · 16/11/2020 14:48

No.

ShalomToYouJackie · 16/11/2020 14:53

Nope. I had no idea and felt exactly the same. Previous months I was certain I felt different and had a BFN but the month I felt completely normal I got my BFP

CandleWick4 · 16/11/2020 15:15

With my first, no. My period was late so I took a test. My second - yes. I remember it vividly, sat on the couch and had a feeling I’m not sure I can explain. I turned to DH and said ‘I think we’ve done it this month’ (we’d been trying for a year). He said there’s a test upstairs why don’t you do it. So I did. And I was.

2020mission · 16/11/2020 15:19

No both times when I had chemicals I took the test expecting to see BFN

Elsie2021 · 16/11/2020 15:21

Lovely story @CandleWick4!

bestbefore · 16/11/2020 15:22

Yep! Was on the way back from the US and looked at myself in the mirror and just thought I looked a bit different, can't really describe it, would have only been a few days pregnant.

Mylittlepony374 · 16/11/2020 15:23

With baby 1 I had no idea. Took pregnancy test before operation and was positive- had been trying for 5 years with no luck so was a very happy suprise.
With baby 2, Yes. Took one bite of chicken burger and threw up. Instantly knew.

Trousersareoverrated · 16/11/2020 15:24

No. Was expecting to stare at an empty test but thought I would check as I was going out for a drink.

PurBal · 16/11/2020 15:30

Definitely no. I only tested because I enjoyed POAS. I was convinced we'd missed the window.

LividLaughLurve · 16/11/2020 15:35

I thought I’d had a period, but it was weirdly short.

I fell asleep in the cinema, and when I woke up during the credits I had the idea that when I got home I should do a test, just to put the thought to bed. Didn’t even tell DH I was doing it because it was so unlikely (one Fallopian tube, three previous IVF losses...)

NeedAUserNameAllTaken · 16/11/2020 15:37

Yup. Woke up the morning after dtd and said "I'm pregnant, it's a girl." I was and she is! ♡

greenemerald · 16/11/2020 15:37

Yes. Due to implantation bleeding over a week before AF was due

WhenTwoBecomeThree · 16/11/2020 15:38

Nope, we'd been trying for nearly a year. I did a test just before AF was due on a whim and there were two lines, it was the biggest shock

Scubalubs87 · 16/11/2020 15:38

First time no. We'd been trying for a miserable year which had felt like an eternity and I only took a test to shut my brain up while I waited for my period to start (my cycles fluctuate in length). Second time, my husband had a wax Barbour jacket hanging in the bedroom and I couldn't bear or escape the smell of it. I wondered if I might be pregnant but wouldn't let myself properly entertain the thought as it was our first month of trying. After a few days of nagging by my husband, I took the test and got our positive that became our 10 week old.

BorisandHarriet · 16/11/2020 15:38

Pregnancy 1 no. I had a hope I was and period was late but lots of negative tests and no obvious signs.

Pregnancy 2 I just knew a week before my period was even due. I was convinced! Positive test about two days before period due.

BorisandHarriet · 16/11/2020 15:40

Same as @Scubalubs87 first pregnancy it took quite a long while of trying and second pregnancy it happened in first month!

4Minions2CallMyOwn · 16/11/2020 15:48

Yes, after the first I always know. By about 8/9/10 dpo for one night only I’ll fall asleep at 7pm and sleep through the night until morning. I’m a complete night owl and never fall asleep until the early hours at best. So when I do this I know!

This time I fell asleep one night 7dpo and slept until morning. My DH and I looked at each other in the morning and said yay! The test was negative but that didn’t matter, we knew. Then the next day we tested and got a very faint positive on a First Response.

FoxtrotOscarPoppet · 16/11/2020 15:54

I had an idea that I was...

When pregnant with my DD teabags absolutely reeked of cod liver oil for some (strange) reason.

Now pregnant with my second. Before I had any idea of doing a test I went to open a box of teabags and got a whiff of cod liver oil. AF wasn’t due for a couple of days but that was enough to make me do the test next morning. Blazing positive. Grin

firesong · 16/11/2020 15:56

Yes, a couple of times. I can feel pregnancy very early on, like a strange weight.

AGnu · 16/11/2020 15:58

Yup, CD21 every single time. The first time I was suddenly violently ill for about an hour & then not another symptom until the kicking started. 2nd time the nausea started on CD21 & didn't let up for most of the pregnancy. 3 & 4, I felt queasy & dizzy from CD21 & it lasted for 10-14 days before suddnly disappearing, the tests got fainter & the bleeding started. Number 5 was pretty similar to #2, except I was better at handling the nausea so it was less of an issue.

I've often had hormonal dizzy spells around the time of AF but never quite the same, never with the nausea & never with the feeling of just knowing that I can't quite describe. I'm naturally quite scientific so I don't like having feelings I can't describe or quantify!

Imonlydoingwhatican · 16/11/2020 16:04

Only with my second, was at work, and it was like a switch going off in my head. I tried to downplay it as we had been trying for 2 years and it was to early to test. I was having to hold back telling people the feeling was that strong so took antest a week early and it came up right away shes now 11 and no doubt she still making her presence felt. No idea with the other 2

Vebrithien · 16/11/2020 16:05

Yes!
In all 6 pregnancies (4 miscarriages, DD and DS), I have had morning sickness from 3 and a half weeks (so 4ish days before AF is due). I've also had a seriously amazing sense of smell, and have completely gone off of coffee (caffeine bunny normally).

Every single time, have had a positive test 2 or 3 days later.

Happierwithouthim · 16/11/2020 16:13

Yep on first pregnancy I'd an odd feeling of fullness which couldn't be put down to food. So tested and it was positive, heartburn followed a week later. On second pregnancy, heartburn showed up, I did test and it was positive.

Sunshine1235 · 16/11/2020 16:17

Yes I was pretty sure with all 3 of mine. I get a lot of twinging/cramping (which I don’t usually get with my period) and then no period so by the time i took the test (usually about 3 days late) I was fairly certain.

foxyroxyyy · 16/11/2020 16:18

Yes. I didn't ever bother taking one. Baby is now almost nine months old!

I realised when my husband and I were having a bit of fun and I wondered why he was being so rough with my nipples (he doesn't do that!) I kept moving him from side to side and it hurt within seconds of him touching them. Anyway in that moment BOOM I was like woaaaah we did it🤩
