Hello!

Did anyone know they had conceived before taking a test? Did you notice anything obvious? Feel different? Or just know?!

No but dh always knows before I do! He says I look different but can't put his finger on why

NamechangeTTC · 16/11/2020 19:41

I screenshot this as I posted it to see if I was right.

Spent two weeks telling me my head was wrong.

Did you know you conceived before taking a test
PolarnOPirate · 16/11/2020 19:42

Yes, both times, no symptoms, just ‘knew’.

FlingingFlangingHardToOpen · 16/11/2020 19:46

I was pretty sure, had super sensitive/sore nipples about a week before my period was due which I’d never had before.

YakkityYakYakYak · 16/11/2020 19:49

Yes, I had stomach cramps for a week and I never get period pains. Also, my nipples were suddenly massive Grin

First pregnancy was wanted. Didn't know, just hoped. The days between dtd and poas I spent happily imagining a baby.

Second pregnancy was accidental. Had already decided against more children. Had an improper use of contraceptives incident - and spent the next couple of weeks happily imagining a baby. Which was very weird, because I categorically didn't want one. And I certainly never did that after any other imperfect contraceptive use. Poas at about twelve hours late and was immediately horrified by the result.

It was odd. With hindsight, I think my body 'knew' it had conceived and was trying to prepare my conscious mind for having a baby.

With the first no, second I went to have my morning cup of tea and the first sip tasted awful I spat it out and the only time I tea had tasted like that before was when I was preggers, took a test and had a very very faint line (about 4 days before period due)!

rorosemary · 16/11/2020 20:00

In 7 pregnancies: no.

KateColx · 16/11/2020 21:25

Yes, I just had a feeling! I had implantation bleeding a week before AF was due and I just knew something wasn't normal.

Phie04 · 16/11/2020 21:33

I had an idea as was getting some symptoms and managed to conceive first time in both pregnancies. My symptoms were tender boobs and a niggling feeling in my lower right side both times. If you are actively trying you ate symptom spotting so I think it's different for anyone

YorkshireGirl35 · 16/11/2020 21:39

I always thought I would know but I didn’t have a clue

spongebobscaredypants · 16/11/2020 21:43

It's odd I've done two pregnancy tests in my life, both positive, not sure why just knew something was going on. So yes sub consciously I knew something. Both times 2-3 weeks

Ridethewaves · 16/11/2020 21:44

Sort if! Weirdly I bent down in a yoga pose and a clear fluid started literally pouring out of my nose. Never had it before and thought it v strange. Decided to take a pregnancy test and found I was pregnant.

apric0t · 16/11/2020 21:52

Yes both times I knew before period was due and before taking a test.

First time boobs felt weird and I knew something was up, second time I fell asleep two nights in a row putting toddler to bed and the only other time I've been tired like that was first trimester.

I was so sure I was pregnant I put off taking a test for a few more days so I could enjoy spending the weekend with my sister without having the crushing OMG that I was pregnant again, tested after she left and yep, pregnant!

babblebeee · 16/11/2020 22:04

My first I just knew, i had a strange feeling from only a few days after dtd and we weren't even trying at the time. This pregnancy I was convinced was going to be a BFN but then AF luckily didn't show

mouldygrapes · 16/11/2020 22:44

My sense of smell was suddenly very acute, and I had odd cramps (not usual pre AF symptoms) and I felt a very low level of nausea for a few days which then went away after positive test

Lozz22 · 16/11/2020 22:51

First 3 I didn't know I was Pregnant until I was miscarrying them. 4th one I knew before I'd tested. Went completely off chocolate, super super fatigued to the extent I couldn't even manage to climb into the shower and milk tasted vile. To me it tastes vile anyway but I couldn't tolerate it in tea or coffee either. I remember going to cafe Nero and thinking the hot chocolate I got had gone off. Asked my Sister to taste it and she was like it's fine it tastes normal. Decided there and then to buy a couple of tests. Took the test when we got back to the cottage and nearly fell over when it came back with two lines. I happy cried Grin I think the wait till my Partner text me to say he was on his break was the longest couple of hours of my life until I could tell him

DramaAlpaca · 16/11/2020 22:53

Yes, I knew in all three pregnancies. Early tests weren't available in the 1990s when I had my DC, but I knew several days before my period was due with each of them. I've only ever done three pregnancy tests, a few days after my period was due, just to confirm what I already knew.

With DC1 I had veiny boobs, a strange taste in my mouth and a heightened sense of smell, with DC2 I just 'knew', and with DC3 I started feeling nauseous about three days before my period was due and couldn't face drinking tea. With all of them I also had a sort of odd 'heavy' feeling that a pp mentioned.

catpoooffender · 16/11/2020 23:03

I did wonder because I was tracking my cycle religiously and taking my basal body temp, and the morning I was due to get my period (the last day I could usually expect to - my cycles have always varied slightly), my temp had gone up slightly. But I was still very surprised when I took the test because I'd convinced myself it wasn't going to happen naturally.

Toastedsesame · 16/11/2020 23:06

Yes definitely knew about 6/7 days after conception. Knew before the tests. Just had a feeling.

hillarypcof · 16/11/2020 23:09

Yes! Without a doubt for me - cramping and lower back pain as if I were about to come on my period. I just felt different, my gut instinct was telling me - and we ladies are rarely wrong!

Had the BFP about 10 days later :-)

fallfallfall · 16/11/2020 23:11

Yes, all three times within days of conceiving.

SilverOtter · 16/11/2020 23:12

Yes, both times. Very strange!

Lillygolightly · 16/11/2020 23:16

With my first pregnancy (sadly pregnancy didn’t continue) my first clue was on waking up in the morning I would normally have a completely flat tummy (oh to be young again) and it wasn’t flat, but rounded. Then a couple of days later I suddenly couldn’t stand anything pressing on my stomach. I said to my partner at the time I wonder if I’m pregnant, so we got a test and low and behold it was positive. Literally that evening the worst constant vomiting morning sickness started.

Pregnancy number 2 I had absolutely no clue until I took the test. I was so shocked I could have fallen over.

Pregnancy number 3, sat on the sofa one evening when I suddenly got these very low down stabbing pains. They came and went every couple of minutes, and I just knew it was implantation. Took a test a few days later - positive.

Pregnancy number 4, had recently started a Keto diet and assumed the waves of nausea I kept getting were down to that. One day walking through the meat isle in the supermarket with DH and I was suddenly hit by the most awful sickness, all I could smell was the meat. Remarked to DH that it felt just like when I was pregnant, he insisted I buy a test. I reluctantly agreed as I thought he was being daft, but of course he was right and it was positive.

Halloweiner · 17/11/2020 00:07

Yes, I "just knew". And I'd previously thought that was BS!
