Hey everyone!

I'm either 3 or 4 dpo and looking to chat to others for the hpt countdown nightmare.

I feel like I've bought a lottery ticket. Excited, hopeful, but ready for a great big nope too 😀

@Dex1521 Hi! Hang in there, this waiting game is hard! Do you know for sure you're 2DPO? It's unlikely you're experiencing implantation symptoms this early, sounds like earliest that is likely to happen is 5DPO I think... maybe you ovulated earlier than you think?! 🤞

WicketBasket · 21/11/2020 11:35

@Seasalt1984 Thank you :) I think you’re right, I need to start getting a bit more clarity in terms of ovulation because I just feel overwhelmed at the minute! I’ve ordered some easy@home OPK’s yesterday, due to arrive tomorrow so hopefully that’ll give me some information to work with!
My cycles are fairly long (35 days) and I normally am good for regularly DTD every other day for the first two weeks but then it gets really difficult to maintain and work shifts are often crazy and long. In the last few weeks I end up barely DTD at all and I think that’s where I’m going wrong! I must be ovulating later than the apps tell me which means I’m never catching the egg.
Ugh sorry about the long rant, it’s just an overwhelming situation Grin

Where are you at I’m your journey? I’m TTC number one and no luck so far. Due AF on Thursday and had some spotting a few days back with my usual pre AF cramps starting up again so am likely out for another month. Boooo Grin xxx

ButterscotchBabe · 21/11/2020 11:47

@Vicki1990 sorry your af came today ☹️ if your 10DPO today and your af started, that means your now on CD1 so your luteal phase was 9 days? Is that more than your previous cycle? Great that you've started taking vit C and folic acid. I'm 8DPO and praying af doesn't come tomorrow. I started taking vit C before ovulation so hopefully it will have has enough time to work this cycle!

Seasalt1984 · 21/11/2020 11:50

@Wicketbasket Sounds like a positive step! Overwhelming is the word when you start out! My friends with kids have said try to enjoy the journey, it can feel never ending but then one day it happens out of nowhere (we live in hope!). OPKs can help you feel a bit more in control i think, your fertile window is a few days before and one day post ovulation so the window is quite small really.

I'm TTC no.1 in second cycle of trying since mirena coil out. I'm 36 so thought OPKs and tracking things would be a good idea just in case we need some extra help further down the line.

WicketBasket · 21/11/2020 11:55

@Seasalt1984 Good luck to you hun! I hadn’t realised the window was that small so I think I need to track things better to maximise my chances. For a while I was attempting the whole , DTD every few days thing but my cycles are a bit off so probably wasn’t catching the fertile period!

Hahaha I know exactly what you mean with the ‘we live in hope’ comment! Sometimes I feel like it won’t happen although am desperately praying it does! It’s a difficult journey Smile

When will you be testing? Xxx

ButterscotchBabe · 21/11/2020 11:56

@WicketBasket I started using easy@home OPKs this cycle and found them easy to use. I would recommend getting the Femometer app to read them. Your peak is when the test line is as dark or darker than the control line. So normally you can tell just by looking but it's nice to have confirmation from the app! I've included a pic of mine so you can see what the app shows. Ovulation happens 12-36 hrs after your peak, if you want to pin point it exactly, you'll need to temp as well. Hopefully you'll get a BFP and won't need to do any of this!

Seasalt1984 · 21/11/2020 12:07

@Wicketbasket I'm going to hold out to when AF due, which is Tues or Weds next week. If it doesn't turn up then I'll test! I'm channelling @lemongrass9 will power (or trying to!) 💪

If it doesn't happen this month I think I'll start charting temps. That looks like a good tracker @butterscotchbabe !

WicketBasket · 21/11/2020 12:10

@ButterscotchBabe Thanks so much for this and thanks for the good wishes! Smile I do feel like I’m out this month as AF is due on Thursday and I’m having all the telltale signs. The cramps in particular have started, which is slightly upsetting!

I’ve ordered the same brand of OPKs yesterday but have the Premom app! Will download the femometer one instead. Brill, thanks for the pic, it’ll be good to have a reference point. How easy/quick are they to use? The reason I ask is that I’m back at work next week and am wondering whether popping off to the loo for 5 minutes every day will be enough, as I don’t think I could explain anything longer Grin xx

WicketBasket · 21/11/2020 12:11

Good luck @Seasalt1984! Fingers crossed you get your BFP Flowers Let us know how you get on? Xx

ButterscotchBabe · 21/11/2020 12:28

@Seasalt1984 tracking temp as well as OPK is great because then you have the full picture but it does take dedication! Fertility Friend app is great for charting temp and symptoms in general. I use both Femometer and Fertility Friend. I'm planning on testing on Tue with a FRER, only got 1 left so didn't want to waste it too early. Although tempted to test with a cheapie on Monday... What do you think??

@WicketBasket You can honestly never tell, very early pregnancy symptoms are the same as pre-menstrual symptoms. Both caused by a rise in progesterone, so try not to worry. The OPKs do take about 5 mins to use, it takes a few minutes for the dye to run through. You definitely need to dip in a cup of wee, I tried weeing on one and it doesn't work 😂. What hours do you work? If it's too difficult you could test in the morning and then in the evening when you get home.

WicketBasket · 21/11/2020 12:38

@ButterscotchBabe Ah I see! That sounds like it might be just about doable for me, although I normally work 12 hour shifts Confused Hahaha point noted- pee in a cup, not on the stick 😂

Yes you’re right, I just need to wait and see. Sometimes I find it easier preparing for the worst, if that makes sense? Plus I have never ever had sore boobs, ever! Not even pre AF and that seems to be the most commonly reported sign. Everyone who gets their BFP talks about how their boobs were very sore and here I am practically punching mine and feeling right as rain 😂😂

Xxx

Ginini · 21/11/2020 12:39

Hi can I join? TTC #1 cycle 6, AF came again today 👋🏼 so I've eaten a full bad of "share" popcorn 😂😂

WicketBasket · 21/11/2020 13:14

@Ginini sorry to hear AF got you! Definitely be kind to yourself, have some chocolate with that bag Wink I’ll be joining you shortly I think! Lots of love to you xx

WicketBasket · 21/11/2020 13:15

Anyone NOT get sore boobs and still got loads of AF cramps before a BFP?

Seasalt1984 · 21/11/2020 13:26

@Wicketbasket re POAS I've only had positives after 5pm with OPK, some of the packs say to test later in the day... but probs varies between everyone! Lucky you with no sore boobs! They're a regular monthly feature for me, even with coil so I can't tell if they mean anything or not! Definitely some threads on here with women saying they had zero symptoms until a good few weeks in so you really never know! Lots of luck to you (and everyone on thread!) Flowers

WicketBasket · 21/11/2020 13:32

@Seasalt1984 Ah I see! Thanks so much, I think it’ll take me a few cycles to get the hang of things and I’ll try and test a couple of times per day for the first cycle. Let’s see how it goes :)

Hahaha sorry your sore boobs are annoying Grin I’ll try to stop symptom spotting for now, it’s driving me crazy 😜 xx

Ginini · 21/11/2020 13:41

@WicketBasket chocolate seems like a great idea! Thank you 😊 lots of love to you too!

Seasalt1984 · 21/11/2020 13:44

@Butterscotchbabe if you've got a spare cheapy there's no harm testing Monday! Wink then if BFN you've still got a few days where that might change! 🤞

ButterscotchBabe · 21/11/2020 13:47

@WicketBasket oh gosh 12 hr shifts, you'll have to just test when you can. My peak lasted 2 days and showed up in the morning and evening so you should be able to catch it. I used to get boob pain but it stopped when I went on the pill and even though I'm now off it hasn't come back, can't complain too much! 😂.

WicketBasket · 21/11/2020 13:50

You’ve got this @Ginini Flowers

@ButterscotchBabe hahaha I’m glad you’re not lumbered with boob pain and I feel better with all the advice you’ve given me about OPK’s. Even though I’m basically out this cycle, I’m excited to start testing and see what on Earth my body is doing! 😂 Thank you lovely, good luck for your testing! Keep me posted? Xxx

ButterscotchBabe · 21/11/2020 13:51

@Seasalt1984 thanks, I don't feel so bad wasting a cheapie! Will you be testing on Tue? Or waiting until Wed?

ButterscotchBabe · 21/11/2020 15:07

@WicketBasket I've been doing OPK and BBT charting, so if you've got any questions please feel free to ask 🙂. You're not out until af arrives! Yes will do, think I'm gonna do a cheapie on Monday and FRER on Tuesday 🤞

WicketBasket · 21/11/2020 15:38

Thanks @ButterscotchBabe, I’ll take you up on that offer Grin Ooh not far off from testing, I’ll keep everything crossed for you! Xxx

Seasalt1984 · 21/11/2020 15:38

@butterscotchbabe I'm thinking I might try and hold out until Thursday if AF hasn't turned up by then... I'm having to self isolate until then so at least if BFN I can take myself out for a run or long walk (and buy some wine)! ...I've only got one test in the house, feel like i need to use it wisely Grin

Seasalt1984 · 21/11/2020 15:39

Thursday does seem like aaaaaages away though! Confused
