@blodyn91 @NestinginNL @Skip86 @Juno231 it's been 7 years. While he is happy in himself, lots of friends, loves his job, brilliant fun uncle, life and soul of any party etc he has never "settled" with anyone. He told me after a previous relationship ended that he compares all girlfriends to K and always will, my heart broke there and then. My mum worries about his lack of settled down-ness and my OH reminds her my brother is still young as he himself didn't settle down with a girl until 35! I hope he finds someone that lives up to K.
Didn't actually realise how much it hurts talking about her until I typed all that out and almost didn't post. Thanks for the support ladies 💕

Sausage1990 · 12/11/2020 22:38

@gem176 gosh what a sad situation for your brother & his girlfriend. So young 😢 awful. On the topic of fostering, my parents have just been approved as Foster parents and they may even get their 1st kdis before Xmas!!! They're hoping for siblings too. With me & my sister fully fledged adults and my dad retired from the fire service it seemed the perfect time to explore fostering as it's something they've talked about wanting to do for years and years. It's such a intensive process to become a carer (rightly so) but I cannot imagine two better people to do it 🥰

@Amy00 congratulations hun. I'm keeping everything crossed for you that this is a sticky bean & you have a healthy pregnancy. 💕

Gem176 · 12/11/2020 22:46

@Sausage1990 that's fantastic, and exciting about getting their first kids in time for Christmas. I would wait until my dd was in her teens at a minimum before fostering but think your parents have probably picked the best way/time to do it.
Life can be really cruel sometimes but his way of looking at it has always been that worse things do happen. DD was only a few months old at the time and he always reasoned that K got to live a full life in her 21 years but there were little kids that were sick without half of the life experiences K had. He has raised thousands for cancer research doing sponsored 24hr endurance challenges. I'm a very proud big sister!

lucyrp · 12/11/2020 23:07

@Gem176 omg I am in tears at your story 😭 your poor brother! And you. So sorry for your loss 💔

notyetamumbuttrying · 12/11/2020 23:13

@Gem176 that's incredibly poignant story Gem. What a terrible loss for you all x

Sausage1990 · 12/11/2020 23:16

@gem176 gosh that's made feel quite emotional. You must be very proud of him & his strength and turning sadness into positivity 💕 @minster2012 your journey always makes me feel this way too 💪🏻 incredible people 🥰

@gem176 yes I think it is a good time for them. They were looking into it 1st when we were teenagers but with GCSEs & A levels it would have been too much, then as we went through uni and finding jobs and stuff, although we were more independent, we both still needed alot support from them... So now's the time lol. I'm quite looking forward to it all tbh. I know it won't be easy as I'm sure the kids will come with their own baggage but I had the best childhood so any kids who stay with them will have a happy, nurturing and safe place to call home for however long they need it - either until they turn 18 or they find their forever family 🥰

This week was my 1st full week back in work after my phased return. Well. I'm still 4days until January (using my leave) but it was the 1st week with being in full days and I'm knackered haha.. But I finally feel like I'm getting back into the swing of it all 👍🏻 although I did have a humdinger clinic type 1 diabetes clinic today which was super complies 🤯 so I definitely enjoyed an extra large glass of wine 🍷

Gem176 · 13/11/2020 00:00

@lucyrp @notyetamumbuttrying it was heartbreaking at the time, still is whenever I think of her. I have the Teeny tiny baby booties she bought dd and anytime I'm sorting through things and see them I have a good cry, Facebook memories can be a real emotional rollercoaster some days but it's taught me some really important things about living life in the moment and not complaining about getting old because it really is a privilege.

@Sausage1990 so so so proud of him! His previous boss was very wealthy and had a general policy that he would match any funds raised by his staff for charity. His first challenge was 4 Munro's in under 24hrs and he raised just under £20k, when his boss heard how much he had raised and why he was raising it he rounded it up to £50k. Since then he's done some other mental endurance challenges that make my mum grey but make him so happy and generally struggling to walk for a few days after!! He's also the biggest joker you will ever meet and if you didn't know his story you would never know what he's been through. Ks mum and him are still really close and I love that, he goes to hers for Sunday lunch at least once a month 🥰
Those are some lucky kids that get to join your family. Your parents sound wonderful 😍 perfect couple to deal with any of the struggles of fostering.
Enjoy your vino, you deserve it! We must pickle your head sometimes 😊 xx

Is it the bloody steroids that I am up at 2 am? Or maybe is the stress at work? It is time to pick annual holidays and in a team of 8 being the only parents of school age, I struggle to get summer holidays and half terms, everybody else also have set times of the year they want, such as week of holiday or the last couple of weeks of October to play video games when they come out... I don’t understand why being a working mother makes you such a pariah, or why is it seen as such a bitch to want to spend a week or two with ds instead of paying £150 a week for the privilege of missing out....

Franklydear · 13/11/2020 02:41

It should read the week of their birthdays

Franklydear · 13/11/2020 03:31

Hmm, still awake
And tomorrow when you are all in here I’ll be too tired to read....

Franklydear · 13/11/2020 03:34

I also like to point out, that as a mother of an autistic boy I am either at work, looking after him or asleep, I only want to get a plane, and chill with more adults in the house, to maybe go for a walk and a drink with my husband alone, is it really that selfish? Maybe everybody is right and I should give up working, that the way for society to stop thinking of you, out of sight

Franklydear · 13/11/2020 03:46

Spaming the thread at night is fun, @Juno231 in the morning is going to be like whaaat?

Franklydear · 13/11/2020 05:13

This isn’t improving

Franklydear · 13/11/2020 06:18

Oh grant, my alarm just sounded, perfect,....
Don’t worry ladies, I’ll get ds ready for school, dh will take him and then I’ll laze about until dh comes for lunch, and cooks, I have a school team meeting, but that is all, I am seriously considering not going to work on Saturday and see how I feel Monday

Franklydear · 13/11/2020 06:19

Please don’t throw me out for this, I am ill

Newbie0818 · 13/11/2020 06:52

@Franklydear rest up hun and get tested x

@amy2503 noooo you're not alone, we're the long time ttc-ers here a lot of us 🤘🏼 some of us have had diagnoses, some of us have had MCs multiple times, it's a mixed bag. But I've found this thread a life saver ❤️

@Gem176 ohmigosh that is hard going, how awful 💕

lucyrp · 13/11/2020 07:23

@Franklydear I slept absolutely shocking last night again too. I've had rubbish sleep the last 2-3 nights and no idea why. I fell asleep on the sofa after a takeaway last night because OH and I both have the day off today and then when we went to bed I was awake until 1am, reading my emails and worrying about how to use less gas and electric and where the hell I can get a 7x5 garden shed from!

Franklydear · 13/11/2020 07:29

@lucyrp the things that come into our heads at night! It is a known effect from the steroids but a good distraction from the tww, I haven’t noticed any symptoms yet, apart from floppy boobs, and with the steroids side effects, I’ll have no chance, I’ll just have to wait

lucyrp · 13/11/2020 07:41

@Franklydear I know! Although woken up this morning feeling like I haven't slept at all and still thinking about those things 🥺 getting my nails done today though and OH has a day off also. On Sunday I have an extra day off but been told if I want to go into work I can, and if OHs new game arrives in the post by then I may go into work 😂

Franklydear · 13/11/2020 07:47

@lucyrp can you intercept it and pretend it got there Monday?

notyetamumbuttrying · 13/11/2020 08:04

@Gem176 you're so right! It really is a privilege! X
@Franklydear hope you get time for a nap today.
@lucyrp hope you have a relaxing day if you don't end up going into work.
Happy Friday everyone! The weeks flown by for me!

Juno231 · 13/11/2020 08:22

@lucyrp progesterone looks good for FP! Your LH is higher than the range they give for FP though, as that is up to 12ish I think and you've got 17? That's the only thing comment I'd have though, the rest looks good!

Franklydear · 13/11/2020 08:24

@notyetamumbuttrying I got up and thought I am quite alright, went to the bathroom and made a coffee and nope, not alright, back to bed it is for me, I am not sleepy, but that is the meds, I've been awake for a few days before with them, I used to be able to sleep on them but not for the last couple of years

Minster2012 · 13/11/2020 08:41

Morning ladies, early night for me last night so lots to catch up on

@Gem176 that story heartbreaking & I hope your brother gives true love, but totally understandable yes I wonder how many lol who have said "just adopt" know what's involved, it took a couple we know 2 years

@amy2503 you totally aren't alone lovely, most of us "old gals" are here from having done the thread in April, we'll try keep you sane & @Juno231 fur TWW

@NestinginNL yes it was my stage of cancer diagnosis that was the main thing, despite me being in total remission and effectively back to clear once you get to a certain stage they won't allow you...This dec (the day before our wedding anniversary) is the 6 year anniversary of my terminal diagnosis, partly why we got married a year to the say almost later. Like fuck you cancer!

@Sausage1990 I bet you were knackered! But eating that wine!

@Franklydear steroids are notorious for breaking sleep (& making you crave & want fatty foods) I think you need to get tested lovely and no one wants you out of sight love & you def need time to yourself- no one is being thrown out!

Minster2012 · 13/11/2020 08:42

Oooo and wasn't someone testing today Friday 13th? Waiting fir the FRER? Argh I'm so bad at remembering
