TTC cycle 1 (just come off pill) for #1

Hello!

Im in my first month of trying with my partner of 12 years. With wedding plans up in the air due to covid we decided we didn’t want to put our lives on hold any more so here we are!

I came off the pill, had my withdrawal bleed and now in the two week wait until next week when I can test.

I guess I just wanted to come on here and see if anyone else is new to trying too. Or people who can give light in how long it took them to conceive after coming off the pill.

We haven’t told no one we’re trying so I feel like I haven’t got no one to talk too about it all. Trying to stay positive and would love to have a happy ending to 2020.

I'm the same @Happythoughts91 have a huge age gap between me and my brother so also want a smaller gap. Probably 2-3 years.

I'm got such a bad stitch on my left side. Just done another OPk and according to that I ovulated this afternoon, as it has dropped right down, which would explain the pains. I feel so uncomfortable! Now here is hoping for a BBT rise tomorrow and I'll officially be in my first TWW 🤞🤞

We haven't decided how many yet but OH doesn't want to be "old" parents so if we are going to have more than one we need to get out skates on.

My little brother and I are 2yrs 8mthd apart and whilst we did our fair share of arguing as kids we were actually really close and are even closer now. OH and his younger brother are 9 years apart and don't really have anything in common. So, I guess around the same gap as my brother and I.

To be completely honest - I'm so nervous about even being able to conceive that right now 1 child would be amazing!

We want 2 as well, and like @GreenApplesYo we're both 35 and want to be finished with it before we're 40 so we also have quite an intense five years ahead of us! Eek!! But exciting! 😆

@CLP86 we posted at the same time! That’s a lovely age gap between you and your brother.

I turn 30 next August and always wanted a child before then. When we planned to get married June 2020 I was happy and thought it may still be possible.

When we postponed to next June I knew that was out the window. But Atleast now it may still happen lol xx

@powerofflowers - my husband and I are both 35 next year so in the same boat! It's going to be super intense!

@CLP86 @PowerOfFlowers my DH is 35 next year, I'm 33 this year, so defo keen to try and have 2 before he is 40 which would make me 38

Ok thanks @AMS19 and @GreenApplesYo - I do find it confusing how CB advanced says you have to use FMU until you get high (and I have quickly realised I will not be using those 2/3 times daily unless I’m getting a significant pay rise...) but all others say not to use FMU. Regardless I’m still stuck here waiting for AF and a new cycle, day 54 now, so it’s not too important right this moment 😂

I would love 2!! I’m one of 4 and I know I don’t want that many. I’m 33 and DH is 38, so we’d like them close together. But feeling really similar to @CLP86 right now - I’d settle for one if that’s all that’s meant to be!

@CardioQueen I think it might be because clearblue also test for oestrogen as well as LH? Not 100% sure of that, but I think I read it somewhere.

@GreenApplesYo yes I think you’re right, I think it has to test for that to give the flashing smiley - and then suggests testing twice daily once you have it so you don’t miss the LH surge for the static smiley/peak reading. Which is probably very doable for those who just have 2 or 3 days of flashing smileys tbf...

@CardioQueen 54 days though! That's a drag 😕hope AF hurries up. Or ovulation of course.

Good to learn about the different kinds of tests though, these boards are an education!

@GreenApplesYo gah I know 😱 I have literally never had this in all my life in the times I’ve been off the pill. If my period has been one thing, it’s been regular!

But I am just trying to be a bit patient as I’m only 3 months off the pill and the week before/running up to when I thought I would ovulate I was extremely stressed. 🤞🏼 she’ll turn up soon...

@CardioQueen have they been irregular since you came off? So frustrating I know but it is "normal". Every month that goes by you are nearer to things getting to a shorter more reliable cycle. Did you ovulate this cycle? Or was it just flashing smiles?

I didnt get much of a BBT rise, so not sure if my body failed to ovulate. It definitely tried, i got my peak, my stomach was crazy aching and bloated. But without the temp rise I'm not so sure 😔 I know sometimes it can be a day after so 🤞 either way all moving in the right direction this cycle and we covered all the basis DTD so what will be will be!

@AMS19 no not exactly. I got withdrawal bleed a couple of days after stopping, didn’t then track anything as I wanted to have a natural period first. That cycle (which I guess isn’t a proper cycle if it starts with withdrawal bleed) was 37 days. Then had a normal, if a bit light, natural period and then started tracking...and now I am just lost and kind of sat here twiddling my thumbs. Did not get any static smileys though and stopped after 10 days (because the instructions said to, in future I would prob give it up to 15 days). My BBT rose 5 days ago - CD 49 - and has stayed higher. My CM was just all over the place for about 6 weeks then dried up.

I guess I’ll do another pregnancy test this weekend if AF still hasn’t arrived, just to be safe before having some drinks! But this is not how I imagined this wondrous journey to start, how naive of me 😂

That said, re your BBT - did you have a clear rise last month? And are you measuring orally? As it can be a bit inaccurate apparently. So might still have happened 🤞🏼

@CardioQueen I am very similar to you. I did BBT track post withdrawal bleed but there was no point, it was al lover the place! My chart is a joke for that cycle. Then had my first proper period a perfect 28 days post withdrawal bleed. I'm CD14 on my first proper cycle and everything but BBT would indicate I ovulated yesterday. I only got EWCM CD8 though despite taking EPO.
Yes I chart orally and hoping that is why. I also woke up an hour earlier. There is a website you can use to adjust which I did but sure that isn't an exact science. But they do say without a temp rise you should assume failed attempt to ovulate. Do you test orally? I'm tempted to try down below which apparently is the best, just seems more faff 😂😂 I'll have to be much better at cleaning it every morning and make sure my husband doesn't randomly decide to use test his temp😂😂

I would definitely keep testing just in case. Especially if you think you did ovulate and DTD at the right times. I'm going to assume I'm not in a TWW and drink, but try and refrain to one or two glasses max. I think I'll do one more OPK today to see if it's all totally gone then maybe stop. If I miss another surge so be it, I'll try again next cycle!

@AMS19 ok this is good to know - hopefully I’m just being a bit slower to settle?! I also test orally and have been debating if I need to go down below given my BBT chart is looking like a heart monitor this month. It def sounds like more hassle 😂 Yes I have read mixed reviews about the temp adjustment site and it’s more of a pattern you’re looking at anyway, so if you’re mainly testing around the same time most days I think that’s ok.

Yes once I get my next cycle I’m going to test basically the whole way through, I’ve got the standard OPKs now as well as my CB ones. We have def earned our couple of drinks, there will be 9 months+ without (hopefully) at some point in the future!

@CardioQueen this was my chart from cycle 1 vs cycle 2, cycle 1 being the one straight from withdrawal bleed. You can see how much more settled this cycle has been, so I think just hold on and keep going! After my post period dip it has hardly moved...
And definitely use OPK cheapies and just use CB when you get a high. I got my cheapies off amazon and they worked perfectly!
Amen to that! We absolutely deserve wine, making a baby is absolutely exhausting 😂😂

@AMS19 yesss ok that first one is what mine currently looks like. I’m there looking at it compared to the examples online and my lack of peak ovulation and my lack of AF - and trying to explain to DH I’m not entirely sure I’m a woman at this point 😂😂

And yes to the OPK cheapies...I’d be spending over $70/month if I just use the CB ones 😳

We will get there. In the most scientific least romantic way possible if needs be 😂

@AMS19 here's my chart 🙂 I only had a slight temp rise on 1dpo too. I do wonder if it depends what time of day you ovulate. Say opk peak = 6am. You ovulate 12hrs later (maybe?), then it takes 24hrs for the full temp rise. It can't always be, oh you slept? Bang OK here's your temp rise. That's what I told myself anyway haha.

All moving in the right direction today!! I've realised premom only will call a test peak after it has done one whole cycle and seen it go back down. So I'll only get peak retrospectively. I would say this is very close to a peak?! If not peak? Fermometer is staying peak obviously but it was from last night...

It might be your peak. I'd recommend you keep testing in case you get a darker test result. If you get a lower ratio, premom will mark the highest reading 1.67 as your peak.

Thanks @GreenApplesYo and @AlisonT13. I definitely got my peak, as it dropped right back down last night and premom now has it as a peak at 167%. I'll test again later this morning to make sure it has stayed down.
I think you are right @greenapplesyo I do think it must vary! All my signs suggest I ovulated in the afternoon/evening so who knows 🤷‍♀️ either way I'm taking it as a massive win i at least peaked and if I didnt ovulate hopefully will next cycle 🤞 I really like BBT charting but it does mean you can feel so deflated when it doesn't rise

Heyy @AMS19 I’ve just literally tested and it wasn’t my time this month. Feel a little deflated and had a tear or two. I don’t know why? I’m so silly as I know it’s my first month off the pill, and I didn’t expect it to happen. I definitely have symptoms and feel ‘weird’ but I think that’s just coming off the pill.
Atleast the wait is over now and I can try to forget about it all for a few weeks now. Xx

@Happythoughts91 aww I'm sorry. Don't feel silly about feeling deflated or having to have a little cry. We put so much energy into hoping and wondering what's going on inside! I don't think it'll be a BFP for me either... But I'll still be sad when it's not. What dpo are you by the way?

@AMS19 how are those temps looking? 🙂
