TTC cycle 1 (just come off pill) for #1

Hello!

Im in my first month of trying with my partner of 12 years. With wedding plans up in the air due to covid we decided we didn’t want to put our lives on hold any more so here we are!

I came off the pill, had my withdrawal bleed and now in the two week wait until next week when I can test.

I guess I just wanted to come on here and see if anyone else is new to trying too. Or people who can give light in how long it took them to conceive after coming off the pill.

We haven’t told no one we’re trying so I feel like I haven’t got no one to talk too about it all. Trying to stay positive and would love to have a happy ending to 2020.

@AMS19 I'd decided to give up on the OPKs and just rely on temping too, as I had no idea when I'd ovulate. On the 1st day of not doing OPKs I had what I can only describe as a big big wave of horniness (haha!! Sorry tmi) and thought, hmm I wonder? Took a test and it was positive. I was pretty pleased!

Ah thanks, will definitely give the EPO a try then!

I'm still on furlough, until next week. I've been off since the last week of March. I've enjoyed the time off but the downside is not being sure what will happen with work in the long run. DP working from home and has been loving it too. Ah yeh, can sympathise about the tube/London commutes. I don't live in London now but did in my 20s. I bet you're saving loads too!

@AMS19 arghhh I see. That’s really interesting to read and have seen people mention it on here.

@GreenApplesYo it seems like everything works different for everyone. I know I’m only on my first cycle but I was really pleased with my OPK so will try and stick Dutch that and see how it goes.

Have either of you taken a pregnancy test yet?

We have started trying this month too! I've been off the pill for a year now and we were being careful until end of Sept.
I've ovulated (I think) as I felt a dull pain in my back and front left ovary for a day or two, and I'm day 19 today in my cycle. We DTD this morning, and Thursday and will try again tomorrow.
As this is our first month of trying, we're just seeing what happens - but its is an exciting feeling 😆
So glad you all are in the same boat too.
As you said, you spend years trying to not get pregnant to then switch it all.

Haha @GreenApplesYo that is how I feel now! I am constantly turned on and even dream about having sex 😂😂 my husband is loving life. I just can't get enough of it. So hopefully thay is a good sign! I feel like I will give up on the OPks too, they are so disappointing for me! Most of the time my premom app comes up with an error message when I try scan them in 🤦‍♀️ furlough is amazing but totally understand the unknown isn't great. Do you have an idea if/when you might go back?
That is still a decent temp rise! I'd be happy with that 🙂

@Happythoughts91 I took a coupe of cheap tests when I came off the pill because my post pill symptoms were awful - so bloated, belly ache, sickness, reflux etc. Literally every pregnancy symptoms you could imagine! Bastard body playing tricks 😂😂 im gonna try not to test until at least 14 DPO or day AF is due, whichever is later.

@PowerOfFlowers welcome! It is absolutely brilliant you gave your body a year to get to normal before trying. I so wish I had done that. How long are your cycle usually? I'm CD11 so a bit behind you but I had a 28 day cycle last time so should be ovulating any day now 🤞🤞

We’re TTC too. Came off the pill on 9th September, had withdrawal bleed as usual. And then got my first period on the 12th October which I was really happy with.
We tried a few times before I got my period, but I wasn’t paying attention to any particular days as I didn’t know what my cycle would be like. So obviously no BFP in the first month ( I checked last week and negative).
Now that I have a vague idea of my cycle, we’ve been DTD every 2nd day since about CD6. According to my tracking app my “fertile window” is within the next couple of days, so we’ll probably DTD daily for that time, and then back to every 2nd day.
I haven’t used any OPKs yet, just because I don’t want to get too fixated on it! I want to try every 2nd day this month, and if that doesn’t give us BFP then I’ll look into OPKs next month.
The last two days I’ve been getting dull aches down there? I am hoping that it might be a sign of ovulation?
Also started taking pregnacare pre conception tablets 3 months before coming off the pill.
Looking forward to hearing how people’s journeys are going!

@positivitytree2020 you are basically exactly the same as me just 5 days ahead!! I've been getting aches too so fingers crossed!! Keep DTD and you're all covered!

Hi can someone tell me if they think this is positive it’s an ovulation test not pregnancy

@Danielle2012 I would say broader line. It definitely isn't peak, peak is when the test line is darker than the control line. But it depends on the progression as the whether it is high for you personally or not

Thank you very much for your reply I’m so confused as I am 2 days late on my period and had one ovulation test lying around and I thought I was getting all the signs of ovulating which I felt was weird as my period is always on time

@AMS19 nice to have someone who is at the same stage as myself, we can compare notes! ya I’m hoping if we just keep DTD that it’ll be successful! I know for some of my friends it has taken a good few months, even with them trying every day! But fingers crossed for us all!
Does anyone get pains around ovulation?

@positivitytree2020 I get bad cramps in my lower stomach when ovulating but I guesse everyone is different

Hi @positivitytree2020 lovely for you to join. I got terrible ovulation pains this month, they were awful. This is my first month of the pill so I haven’t ovulated for a long time. But my pains were really bad.

@Danielle2012 There’s definitely something there. But I’ve heard for a peak it has to be the same if not darker. But I may be wrong. Maybe take a pregnancy test in nothing shows up in a few days?

@Happythoughts91 thank you , I was hearing some ppl say you can get a slight positive on an ovulation test and actually be pregnant surely I can’t be ovulating again 🙄🙄

Hi @positivitytree2020 and @PowerOfFlowers welcome! Think it's good to just be relaxed and see what happens to begin with 🙂 especially if you have a regular cycle. It's so easy to get obsessed with the OPKs and temps once you start!

Ohh @Danielle2012 are your periods usually regular? Do you think you will try a pregnancy test tomorrow?... I'd definitely be taking one 🙂

@AMS19 haha the constantly turned on thing is actually fun, makes me realise just how much the pill was levelling things off, if that makes sense? Hmm, I reckon hang in there 🙂 and keep testing for the next few days with the OPKs if you are having other ov symptoms? The only EWCM I had was about 4 days before my peak btw. So I thought it was a fluke, but it wasn't.

I'm actually back to work in the first week of Nov. Mixed feelings... I think a winter on furlough would be tough, it's probably more of a nice weather thing! But there is a restructure going on which is worrying. Think my job might be OK but that they might ask me to reduce my hours.

@Happythoughts91 this is my 2nd cycle so please god although I couldn’t imagine it would happen this quick for me @GreenApplesYo yes very regular although lst cycle I bled with brown dishcharge and was convinced I was spotting I don’t know what’s going on really

@GreenApplesYo ahh let's hope my EWCM is not just random then and means it is coming! Either way I'm going to DTD regardless of what OPks say. But I 100% agree, the pill absolutely killed my libido. What I sad is I've spent the last 7 years thinking im just weird that I dont massively enjoy sex. Now I realise that is absolute BS and actually these horrid little pills did that! I'll never go back on them now, god knows what we will do post any baby. Fingers crossed for you work wise. Glad you are getting back to normal in some form. Will you be wfh or need to go into the office?

@positivitytree2020 I dont think ive actually ovulated yet so can't be sure. I've had loads of random pains and aches since coming off the pill. The last 2/3days has been more like a stitch i would say. Hoping it is ovulation

@AMS19 the random aches and pains are so annoying, especially when you don’t know what they are! I find it funny coz I’ve obviously experienced these pains before (pre-pill) but having been on it 14 years I actually can’t even remember what ‘normal’ is! 😂
I also find it interesting what you said regarding libido, I was also like this! Thought there was something wrong with me! But since being off the pill I just feel like a completely new woman, quite frightening really! 😂

@positivitytree2020 isn't really sad as women we were given the right guidance and education to understand what the pill was doing to us! Ah well, guess we will all have to make up for lost time now 😂😂
