Hello!

Im in my first month of trying with my partner of 12 years. With wedding plans up in the air due to covid we decided we didn’t want to put our lives on hold any more so here we are!

I came off the pill, had my withdrawal bleed and now in the two week wait until next week when I can test.

I guess I just wanted to come on here and see if anyone else is new to trying too. Or people who can give light in how long it took them to conceive after coming off the pill.

We haven’t told no one we’re trying so I feel like I haven’t got no one to talk too about it all. Trying to stay positive and would love to have a happy ending to 2020.

Sending baby dust to you all xxx

@Happythoughts91 I'm really sorry! But until AF is here you're not totally out! Test again in a couple of days. If it doesn't happen this month that is totally expected and now you can start a clean cycle knowing your body works and you stand an incredible chance. It WILL happen, if it takes you 2 or 3 cycles you are still incredibly lucky. The fact you ovulated on your first cycle is amazing. Honestly. Totally amazing! You are in a great position ❤❤❤

@GreenApplesYo creeping up 🤞🤞🤞🤞

GreenApplesYo · 28/10/2020 09:35

@AMS19 Yay! That's good to see 🙂 welcome to the 2ww by the way haha! Have you got any strategies to keep you distracted? Have to say mine really dragged from 4-8dpo, feels much longer than 4 days! I think it'll be better next month when I am back at work, it's been rainy here so I've been house-bound and grumpy! 8dpo feels like I'm almost over the 'hump', 4-8 felt like the world's longest Wednesday haha 🙂

The thing I noticed right away from 1dpo was sore nipples. Even though I didn't have a temp rise immediately, my nipples sort of gave me hope that it had happened. 8dpo now and my boobs are really sore/slightly swollen. Thinking this is most likely because 7/8dpo is peak progesterone? Will be interested to see if they stay the same over the next couple of days or if they get less sore. If they get less sore I think that would mean progesterone dropping and AF is on the way... Not sure yet if I will bother testing or just see if AF comes. It depends how my nipples feel haha!

CardioQueen · 28/10/2020 09:45

Hi @AMS19, how are you?

No news to report here yet, FF now seems to think I am 8 DPO. I haven’t been doing ovulation tests for the last couple of weeks (obviously I wasn’t expecting to ovulate on CD47?! And also not v convinced I did). Maybe AF in the next week or so...

@Happythoughts91 I definitely think that is a very normal reaction, don’t worry at all. I did a test when AF was a week late and even though I knew I wasn’t, I still really got my hopes up I was because otherwise it meant the situation I’m in now, not knowing what on earth is going on. It’s super early days and you will learn a lot about your cycle over these early months - which will hopefully make it easier to conceive fairly easily 🤗 hope you’re ok.

AMS19 · 28/10/2020 11:48

@GreenApplesYo I know right. No idea how I will distract. I've got a few plans I shouldn't do, drinking, going to a Monrovia spa....oh well! Im just going to continue as normal but try and keep is as much reigned in as possible...
Nipples were a bit sore yesterday (1DPO) but nothing major and nothing compared to post pill.

@CardioQueen that is exciting though!! So will you test when 14 DPO?

I'm just praying for another temp rise tomorrow then FF will add the cross lines and I'll officially be in my TWW!!

positivitytree2020 · 28/10/2020 11:52

@Happythoughts91Aww, that’s a totally normal reaction to feel a bit upset and deflated! I was the exact same as you last month, it was my first cycle post pill and had set out with the intentions that it wouldn’t happen on first cycle and just to go with the flow, but was totally deflated when I got the negative result, had been quietly hoping I was. I was also imagining symptoms in my head hoping I was! 😔
I would definitely take another test in couple of days as it is still early days if your only 12 DPO?
Also, positives to take from this cycle if your not is that your body is returning to normal super quickly after the pill (I took this as a positive - and each month after is a new opportunity!😊)
I’m on cycle 2 now - CD17 - really hoping again for this month but for some reason feel like I’m definitely not 😔
A very close friend of mine started her journey a couple of months ahead of me. And she got BFP on cycle 3! 😊 so lots of reasons to be hopeful still!

GreenApplesYo · 28/10/2020 12:16

After my essay there about nipples and waiting for AF (...see above) I just cracked and bought loads of pregnancy tests in Sainsbury's haha. Oh dear.

AMS19 · 28/10/2020 12:44

Arrrggghhh @GreenApplesYo keep us updated!! At this stage I would defo use a FRER!!! 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞

PowerOfFlowers · 28/10/2020 13:00

Hello!
Sorry to hear that @Happythoughts91 and hugs to you. Lets see what your next cycle brings 😀
Really hoping for you @GreenApplesYo I would do exactly the same and order the whole shop!! Haha!
I think you're doing the right thing @AMS19 in just carrying on as normal, thats what I'm doing too. I think its healthy!
I'm 5dpo today (I think, first cycle of ttc so still getting used to it all!) and feel normal. Did a workout out this morning and had a lot of energy. Expexting AF to arrive late next week and usually in the last two weeks I'm in hell with all the usual pmt symptoms. I think I'll start testing next week, just in case but not raising any hopes as its the first cycle. I'm being chill (not really 🤣)

GreenApplesYo · 28/10/2020 13:12

@AMS19 no FRERs to be found! I've got one of those clearblue packs, it has 2 dye tests and 1 digital. I know the clearblue dye tests don't have the best reputation, but hoping the digital will be a back up if there is any evap line confusion. Will use FMU when I use one as well... Haha talk about flip-flopping on waiting for AF!! 🙂

GreenApplesYo · 28/10/2020 13:26

@PowerOfFlowers Well done with staying chill about it all! 🙂I feel like I'm being realistic - I'm not expecting a BFP and I feel normal - but finding it hard to keep my mind off it all the same? Hard to explain! Like there's a rational me and an obsessive me all smooshed together in one brain.

I might have to look into a project for the next 2ww. Something crafty perhaps 🙂ooh I could start making some little Christmas presents maybe!

Good you had lots of energy for your workout! Do you do it at home BTW or can you go to the gym? What's the covid situation like where you are? 🙂

PowerOfFlowers · 28/10/2020 14:08

Thanks @GreenApplesYo 😀
I'm in London and Tier2, gyms are open but I'm doing my workouts at home using Courtney Black's app. I find it so much easier than going into the gym. I also try and fit in a walk every lunchtime as I'm wfh at the moment. Not good when its raining... I'm aware that I need to be healthy and have a good core if I'm going to get pregnant (cross fingers) so that is a motivation and keeps me going.
Do any of you work out? If so, what do you do?
I was over exercising (and over eating!!) back in the beginning of lockdown and my cycle went all over the place - i had a 45 day one which never happens so I'm now more aware of not doing TOO much but keeping fit/healthy.

Happythoughts91 · 28/10/2020 14:41

Hi girls. Thanks so much for all your positive thoughts. Had a sluggish morning but feel better this afternoon and ready to go again.
And realistically the chances I knew were slim, being my first month off the pill.

Has anyone heard of conceive plus lube? The reviews are amazing so thinking of using it. Too much information but maybe that’s better than saliva 😂😂😂

OP posts:
AMS19 · 28/10/2020 15:01

@PowerOfFlowers I'm also in London 🙂 im doing Joe Wicks workouts 3 times a week and am on week 6 of couch to 5k. Trying to stay fit. Having lots of energy is a great sign!! Apparently that happens. The only real sign to look out for now is implantation bleeding?!

@GreenApplesYo are you testing tomorrow morning then??!! Eeeek I'm so excited 🤞🤞

@Happythoughts91 I havent but heard good things!! If it is reasonable price wise nothing to lose?

GreenApplesYo · 28/10/2020 15:05

I did loads of cycling during the summer (my record distance was 80miles, haven't quite cracked 100 yet!), which was great. I live in the North West - cycling to the Yorkshire Dales was a highlight... cycling through Blackpool on an August afternoon was not! Partly because of the weather and partly because of TTC I've decided to cut back on the longer rides. Cycling isn't strenuous like running (although, I do live in a very hilly area!), but I worried that doing too many hours of exercise in one go could be bad for TTC? Really liked feeling fit and want to maintain some of that, so I am running every other day. Think I will keep the distances short, but aim to do it regularly all through the winter.

Could do with strengthening my core! At the start of lockdown I did look at getting a little indoor trampoline. Would this be any good for core exercises, do you think?

@Happythoughts91 yes! I was thinking about getting some too 🙂haha yeh I'm sure it'll be better than saliva for encouraging sperm to swim. I did hear somewhere that saliva can kill sperm!! But not sure if it's a myth

GreenApplesYo · 28/10/2020 15:07

@AMS19 yes, I think I will give it a go. Eeeek! I know it's veeery early though.

AMS19 · 28/10/2020 15:14

@GreenApplesYo I did not know that about saliva! I think trampolines will be whilst early pregnant. Maybe not when you gave a bump?! I'm going to keep exercising and doing HIIT workouts but stop ab exercises. I'm sure they are totally fine but think I would feel weird doing it!

positivitytree2020 · 28/10/2020 18:16

@Happythoughts91 I’ve been using the conceive plus lube, only on my “fertile” days though as it won’t be too expensive to use them every day! 😂 thought it might be added boost around fertile time, but still not sure of my exact fertile time since it’s only C2 for me! Worth trying them tho! 😊

Pudding01 · 28/10/2020 18:44

@Happythoughts91 Fingers crossed for next month ❤

So I mentioned I was coming off the pill start of this week. Decided to go to end of the week as my pack finishes then and I'm a tad OCD.

Not had a period since February 2019, but I seem to have started some weird spotting dark one today. How weird is that?
Do I carry on taking the pill until the end of the week or just come off now 🤔 Did my body just go all diva on me after my decision to push it back a week?!

CardioQueen · 28/10/2020 19:39

@AMS19 if AF hasn’t rocked up by then then I will, to be sure, but unfortunately CD47 doesn’t coincide very well with our DTD. Thinking if next cycle is as much of a mystery might plan for the every other day approach as much as poss. DH is flat out with work these last couple of weeks so there are days on end where he gets home after I’m in bed/gone super early.

@PowerOfFlowers ok this is a good topic. I do have a niggle concern as I worked out I’ve not been off the Pill the whole time (3 years) I’ve been doing F45. Think F45 is in London now, not sure about all UK, but basically it’s HIIT and HIIT-style resistance classes. I’m doing it from our garage atm as our studios don’t reopen until 9th Nov. I go all out. I do 6 classes a week usually (would be around 4 hrs 20 of exercise) and then I do lots of walking with our dogs etc. I mean of course if AF doesn’t turn up and my cycles don’t start regulating in the next couple of months I will have to question if it’s too much, but what was too much exercise for you? The 80-mile bike rides and stuff? (My BMI is always 22-22.7, not that I think that’s a great way to measure anything, and my BF% has consistently been 22-24% for last couple of years. I love exercise but eat very accordingly).

weemacmum · 28/10/2020 19:50

Hello all.

I was wondering if i could join you all? I've been stalking the conception board for about 6 weeks and felt it was time to say hello. You guys seem the closest to my own journey so hope it's ok to say hello.

My (now) husband and i already have one amazing little boy, 4, who we conceived while i was on the pill. It was quite a shock at the time as, although we were living together and very much in love, the timing was far from what we'd have imagined and actually initially my OH wasn't sure he was ready! It was super emotional and not at all the romantic ''i'm pregnant!'' moment i'd always imagined starting a family would be. Thankfully we got our knickers out of such a twist, counted our blessings and now we are so grateful for our son and the direction our lives took.

We got married in September of last year and i am overjoyed that OH now feels ready to ''try'' for a new addition! I was initially really excited about the fun of trying - the unknown, the peeing on a stick HOPING it says pregnant etc. But now i've realised it's maybe not going to be as easy as it was the first time and there's actually all sorts of weird pressures we assign to ourselves aha.

For background i came off the pill at the start of September. I've been on variations of combined or mini pill except for when i had my DS. We've been ''trying'' since half way through September. I've had a withdrawal bleed and AF since then. First full cycle officially started 12 August.

How are you all doing?

GreenApplesYo · 28/10/2020 19:58

Can't believe I'm doing one of those line eyes posts. But... Does anyone else see a shadow? You have to look closely 😂 Haha please feel free to tell me if you can't see anything. I wonder if it's possible to get an evap on one of these things? Does anyone know if you can?

I dipped it and then had a shower and when I got out thought I could make out the faintest line. But the photos were taken maybe 20 - 30 mins after I dipped it.

Adjusted the saturation/contrast in one of them. It was hard to photograph.

@Pudding01 I really dont think there is any harm in either? The weekend isn't too far so if you would prefer to wait go for it!

@CardioQueen @PowerOfFlowers all the research seems to imply exercise is fine if you do as much as you did before being pregnant, but not more than you did!

@weemacmum welcome!! It is super exciting this time you can enjoy the journey. We are all at the early stages of our journies so the right place to be! Are you planning to do any tracking?

weemacmum · 28/10/2020 20:00

Doh.... 12th October! Not August!

AMS19 · 28/10/2020 20:02

@GreenApplesYo oh wow I definitely can!! What DPO are you? If you've taken that with evening wee and you're not even at AF then I think that looks very promising...eeeeeek!!!
