Hello!

Im in my first month of trying with my partner of 12 years. With wedding plans up in the air due to covid we decided we didn’t want to put our lives on hold any more so here we are!

I came off the pill, had my withdrawal bleed and now in the two week wait until next week when I can test.

I guess I just wanted to come on here and see if anyone else is new to trying too. Or people who can give light in how long it took them to conceive after coming off the pill.

We haven’t told no one we’re trying so I feel like I haven’t got no one to talk too about it all. Trying to stay positive and would love to have a happy ending to 2020.

Sending baby dust to you all xxx

@DrS44 Still low at the minute. That’s with once a day testing. Don’t know if there’s much point doing it more than once when it’s low x

@jessi60 ya I wouldn't waste the dearer ones! I have a few of the clear blue ones that were always negative! Wait til you have a surge! Apparently they have a higher threshold of like 40ml or something that makes them more reliable for detecting most fertile days? But I wouldn't bother with them every day as it is just a waste really! I got my first and only smiley the other day and it really made me smile 😂🙌🏼 xxxx

DrS44 · 16/11/2020 15:40

@jessi60 those lines don't look very clear? What OPKs are they? Seem a bit blurry! Ya you'll see from my chart I didn't really bother either unless it showed something. I think the .22 is promising though, try in the morning and afternoon tomorrow xxx

Bells20 · 16/11/2020 15:51

@jessi60 I'm in a similar position to you, my OPKs are really low at the moment too but I'm only CD9. My peak last cycle was gradual, a couple of days before I went from .2 to getting .6 .7 and then it jumped to 1.1. But everyone is different, sometimes it comes out of nowhere. Testing once a day is probably fine for now but maybe as you start getting higher number test twice a day? Just looked back through to try and see what CD mine was and it says CD387 😂 forgot I'd set my last period date as early as it would let me 😂😂 I'm thinking that can't be right 😂 but it was 18 days after stopping the pill so I'm thinking I might have my peak around cd18 this month but who knows.

I did think about getting the clear blue ones but I don't really see what they'd tell me that's different. Would anyone really recommend using them?

Mel1313 · 16/11/2020 15:58

@Happythoughts91 I feel like I am in a VERY similar situation to you!! Smile

My fiance proposed in March and we were planning to get married next Summer but with all that's going on, decided to postpone until 2022 to be on the safe side and decided to ttc before as we also didn't want to put our lives on hold. I am 30 in December so there is no time like the present to start trying and we have been together for 7 years so the timing feels right :)

I had my coil removed on the 29th September and had a withdrawal bleed between 1st - 4th October and have been charting my first cycle since then.

I am 12 dpo and have also been pleasantly surprised to have what appears to be a very steady cycle so far. My temp dropped yesterday at 11dpo but it was back up this morning in the high range so I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed that that's a good sign! I think it would be too lucky to conceive the first month off the coil though Hmm so I am trying not to get my hopes up too much.

Completely new to all this so very exciting times :) x

PowerOfFlowers · 16/11/2020 16:01

@Bells20 I'm sticking with the easy@home ones for the next two months and seeing how I go with them. If after that nothing happens, then I'll spend some more money on the ClearBlue ones. I'm cd8 and just done my test for the day and its 0.18, low, as expected. My plan is test once a day until cd13 and then twice so I don't miss my peak! 😀

jessi60 · 16/11/2020 16:06

@DrS44 they clearer when I took the photo but once they upload on the app they go more blurry. You can visibly see looking at the actual stick though what would be a low and a high. I’ll save the clear blue ones until it starts going up abit. That’s if it does🙄😂
@Bells20 Hopefully it might start to go up in the next couple of days but who knows🤷🏻‍♀️ I bought the clear blue ones purely after seeing all the good reviews. And it has a different sensitivity so might help me actually be more accurate on timing the exact days. I can’t do the temperature thing with my shift pattern at work so thought using these might help abit Xx

Mel1313 · 16/11/2020 16:14

@AMS19 hey! I also use the Femometer app and thermometer which I ordered on Amazon and have found it to be really good so far.

@Happythoughts91 tracking BBT is a great way of confirming ovulation actually happened as your temperature will rise significantly a day or two after ovulation has occurred. There are also other ways of monitoring fertility. I read an excellent book which talks a lot about all of the different techniques as I saw someone else recommend it in another thread. It is called 'Taking charge of your Fertility' by Tony Weschler. I actually managed to find a PDF version on the internet so didn't have to buy it, here is the link if anyone fancies a spot of light reading (I joke, it is a HUGE book, but a very informative read if you have the time during lockdown :)) - www.pdfdrive.com/taking-charge-of-your-fertility-the-definitive-guide-to-natural-birth-control-pregnancy-achievement-and-reproductive-health-e199768024.html

Hope that helps x

MissC07 · 16/11/2020 16:33

Hi all,

I hope you don't mind me jumping in on the thread too! I've just taken my last pill from my Rigevidon packet today so will now be in the TTC club. I've been on BC for 12 years, and can't really remember life before it except I used to have a very irregular AF. I'm already nervous about not being in control of when my AF is and that I'll be walking around paranoid! I was just going to see how things go with TTC and try not to put too much pressure on, but if anybody has any advice I'd be really grateful!

jessi60 · 16/11/2020 18:30

@MissC07 Heyy, aww how exciting🥳 there’s a couple of girls on there that are pregnant now which is amazing and lovely to see! Hopefully more to follow including yourself! I would recommend downloading some apps to help you track your periods when they do return. I use Premom but there is other ones people say are good. Maybe buy some cheap ovulation tests to do to see if and when you ovulate to help things. You don’t have to though. Some people go with the flow and take a more relaxed approach!
Maybe start taking some vitamins? Folic acid is the main one. I take the pregnacare pre conception, they abit pricey but there is alternatives X

PowerOfFlowers · 16/11/2020 18:56

Hi @MissC07 and welcome 😀 I definitely echo what @jessi60 says about tracking your cycle, even if you are not ttc, its just good to know where you are, why you're feeling the way you do, the changes in your body etc. I use Clue to track my Cycle and Premom to track my Opks tests. Recommend both.

When you are a few months down the line, and you can pin point exactly wherr you are in your cycle, the feeling is amazing!
We're all here if you want to chat about anything. We're all in the same boat 😀

AMS19 · 16/11/2020 19:06

Right ladies....not long until we need to create a new thread! Are we going with POAS Anonymous as our thread title?

GreenApplesYo · 16/11/2020 19:21

Yes POAS Anonymous! Hehe 🙂🙂

Welcome @MissC07 I think lots of us here have found coming off the pill a positive experience. Better moods, boosted libidos.

jessi60 · 16/11/2020 19:24

😂😂 howling at that thread title

AMS19 · 16/11/2020 19:28

@GreenApplesYo @jessi60 it is happening!!

I'll set up the thread and tag everyone is so we leave a bit of space on this one for the odd few messages etc!

Emmgrem · 16/11/2020 19:32

@DrS44 and @jessi60 Yes I tested on all those days. Started seeing it creep up but stayed low and then dropped to 0 again now so assuming it's just my body having a go and gearing up. I don't know my cycle length yet as I haven't had a proper period, only withdrawal bleed. So I'm going off the average cycle length on the apps and it's saying ovulation this weekend. Are you OPK testing once a day or upping it to twice a day this week?

Welcome @Mel1313 and @MissC07 - I'm very new too. Also 30 in December- snap! And it's my first month off the pill after withdrawal bleed so also trying not to be too hopeful.
I'm trying the sperm meets egg plan - look it up if you haven't already 😊

jessi60 · 16/11/2020 19:38

@Emmgrem Was just doing once a day at the minute. Started CD 7 and now on day 11. Was going to start twice daily from today but just tried to do another one and the result was lower than this morning so that was a fail 😂😂
Think I’ll wait and see the lines get darker and then try my clear blue one alongside it.
Can’t believe I have an actual item dedicated to weeing in 🤦🏻‍♀️🤣
@AMS19 Sounds a plan! 🥰 x

I tagged as many as I could remember! Sorry if I missed the newbies. Feel free to head over to the new thread and join us ❤

GreenApplesYo · 16/11/2020 19:42

Ah brilliant @AMS19 good idea, thank you 🙂

Louisa199 · 17/11/2020 07:20

The app got me confused in my first tryGrin Actually it just predicts the fertile window based on the historical data and cycle length if you haven't found the LH peak. It does adjust when the app marks my peak day. After using OPKs for a few months, finally found my pattern in premom.

Happythoughts91 · 19/11/2020 20:10

Hey everyone just catching up on the comments. Sorry been absent, we’ve just postponed our wedding for a second time 😂🙈

I’m cycle day 19. I use the clear blue sticks and says I ovulated bang on day 14. Exactly the same as last month. (Last month was my first month off the pill)

My cycle last month was 29 days so I’m hoping for something similar this month.

@DrS44 caught up on your comments. Think we are similar. Last month was my first month off the pill and the ovulation pain was insane. I even said to my partner I don’t think I can do this again lol. It was purely on my left side. This month being my welcome month. No pain at all. Wouldn’t even know!

Don’t think this month is my month. I have no symptoms at all! Last month I was symptom spotting like mad. As I seemed to have everything lol but I think that was due to coming off the pill.

@GreenApplesYo @AMS19 lovely to hear your both doing well. Did you girls have any symptoms or was a surprise when you tested?
