TTC cycle 1 (just come off pill) for #1

Happythoughts91 · 23/10/2020 15:52

Hello!

Im in my first month of trying with my partner of 12 years. With wedding plans up in the air due to covid we decided we didn’t want to put our lives on hold any more so here we are!

I came off the pill, had my withdrawal bleed and now in the two week wait until next week when I can test.

I guess I just wanted to come on here and see if anyone else is new to trying too. Or people who can give light in how long it took them to conceive after coming off the pill.

We haven’t told no one we’re trying so I feel like I haven’t got no one to talk too about it all. Trying to stay positive and would love to have a happy ending to 2020.

Sending baby dust to you all xxx

@jessi60 ohhh don't be jealous you'll definitely get there too! Think of it as really positive as we are both in very similar boats!

I'm not certain about the lines but I'm pretty sure it does? It's starting to pick up more LH whereas before there wasn't any? You're still early in your cycle too aren't you? So I'm guessing it'll be a few days yet? Try on a morning afternoon and night when you've not been to the loo for awhile and when you've not drank too much! I think it would be quite easy to miss a peak for example if you drank some water and tested a while later then thought ohh I'll give up today it's still quite light? Keep an eye for EWCM too! Keeping everything crossed for you xxx

jessi60 · 16/11/2020 11:50

@AMS19 Hopefully! It is abit of guessing game. I’ll just tell myself it’s a good sign keeps me happy haha.

@positivitytree2020 Just use the pre mom app and starting ovulation testing from day 7. It’s got me down to ovulate in 3 days but who knows how accurate that is. Still getting low readings on the app when I scan them in but it’s the darkest I’ve seen the lines🤷🏻‍♀️

@DrS44 I’m day 11. Ovulation apparently in 3 days, according to an app 😂
I’ve just done my first one for today then. I’ll do one again this afternoon😊Xx

positivitytree2020 · 16/11/2020 12:05

@jessi60 the Premom app has me down to ovulate in 3 days too! 😂 I don’t think it’s accurate though more likely just a predication based on cycle length. Because it’s telling me I’m in ‘high fertility’ now even though CB tests are saying I’m not, and the cheapie tests are also saying I’m now! 😂

jessi60 · 16/11/2020 12:11

@positivitytree2020 Yeah I think the high fertility thing is what somebody explained to me earlier on here. Is that technically sperm can live for up to 5 days. So if you did ovulate on the day it’s telling us and had sex the days it says high fertility it still could actually work. I’ve seen a few threads on here where people have fell pregnant off having sex 4-5 days before they actually ovulated. And know for sure cause they didn’t do it anymore. Quite interesting really 😂 X

DrS44 · 16/11/2020 12:12

@positivitytree2020 @jessi60 well the apps told me I ovulated about 14 days ago 🤷🏼‍♀️😂 so ya they're just based on cycle length I'm sure! I think you will kind of feel it coming? My back was sore and my nipples started to hurt a few days before my peak (and during). Ya lots of people say afternoon/night is the best time do it! My peak was in the afternoon xxx

positivitytree2020 · 16/11/2020 12:19

@jessi60 ya it makes sense that it could work if you do it during the fertile window, the CB digital tests are meant to identify your fertile window, and then your peak! But mine have all been coming back negative so far, so I’m thinking the app is wrong and it’s just not my fertile window yet! 😂
We DTD every 2nd day last month because we weren’t tracking and nothing happened! 🤣

@DrS44 Ya I say they are just based on cycle length until you’ve had enough cycles that it can more accurately predict it! 😂 the last 2 months I had shooting pains in my side (both sides, not just 1) which I think was ovulation pain, it was around CD13/CD15! Can’t confirm for sure though coz I hadn’t been using OPKs! 🤦🏼‍♀️

DrS44 · 16/11/2020 12:43

@positivitytree2020 hmmmm maybe it was? It's so easy to miss it I think! That's why the other women here have been using BBT? That helps identify it I think! As everyone has said with just coming off the pill it can take awhile to settle. I just read a thing there that said it depends on the person, most women ovulate either straight away, within a few weeks, or within 3 cycles. So hopefully for both of you this is the cycle! Did you and @jessi60 finish your packet before coming off? I wonder has that anything to do with it so your body was in more of an actual cycle? I stopped with like 8 pills left so I would imagine my body was like WTF am I supposed to do now? Maybe if you finished it it was still in a rhythm to get to AF and that's why you didn't first time around? I mean I'm just thinking out loud 🤷🏼‍♀️ Xxxx

GreenApplesYo · 16/11/2020 12:49

@AMS19 I don't think I'll have a private scan unless I feel anxious. I feel fine atm 🙂 But I might be tempted if my NHS one isn't before xmas. I'll be 12wks on 29th Dec. Because of covid, the plan is to have a quiet xmas with DP, but if I do end up going to my family's I'd maybe get a scan. I'm a terrible liar and would hate making up an excuse not to drink. I don't think they'd believe it anyway haha they'd definitely guess. And it would be nice to be able to say the baby is definitely OK. I am looking forward to telling my Mum. Are you going to book an early scan?

positivitytree2020 · 16/11/2020 12:50

@DrS44 yes I finished my pill packet as normal, had my withdrawal bleed, then first AF 29 days later, and second AF 26 days after that! So pretty consistent! 😊 It’s my own fault I didn’t use the OPKs the first 2 cycles, so I can’t say for 100% definite that I ovulated either of those cycles, but felt like I did with the pains i got!
Hopefully this cycle will be a bit more insightful as I’m using OPKs and BBT! 😊🤞🏼
My GP had taken my bloods too and text me to say my female hormones were perfect, whatever that means! 😂

AMS19 · 16/11/2020 12:55

@GreenApplesYo yes we definitely will because my 12 week one isn't until 14th Jan (when I'll be 13+1). And all my family are coming to me for Christmas day. Lying will be a nightmare for 2 days so I'm just going to tell my mum, brother and uncle Xmas morning. So we will get scan for 9+5, 3 days before Xmas. I was tempted to go for another one at 6 weeks to check it isnr ectopic, but im unsure yet!

DrS44 · 16/11/2020 13:08

@positivitytree2020 hooray for perfect female hormones 👏🏻👏🏻 yeah this will be your month now you know what you're doing now and you can track properly 👏🏻 yay! Keep us posted! Ya I really wonder if that has something to do with it then?
@jessi60 did you finish yours too?

When I rang the doctor she was like absolutely no point in continuing to take them. Stopping them will just bring your withdrawal forward and you'll be covered for a week after you stop taking them so stop as soon as you're ready to start TTC! So I did 💃🏼 xxxx

DrS44 · 16/11/2020 13:12

@AMS19 @GreenApplesYo eeekkk that is so exciting for you both! I was getting ahead of myself yesterday and was thinking about if I managed to get pregnant how we would tell our families! I'm planning on making a picture/video collage of 2020 for everyone to watch Christmas Day to say it wasn't that shite of a year and we still made lots of memories! Then my OH said how good would it be if the last picture was a scan 🙊🙈😂 and the second he said it he regretted it because he knows what I'm like 🤣🤣 getting WAYYY to excited!

On that note what is the earliest you can get a scan? (Asking for a friend... swear) 😂 and also how do they figure out week wise? @AMS19 im sure you already explained this to me? Did you say 2 weeks before you ovulated? Or did I make that up (likely!) xxx

jessi60 · 16/11/2020 13:16

@DrS44 I had the implant😊

They date you from the first day of your last period I think. You can get private scans at like 6 weeks but sometimes they can’t find a heartbeat cause it’s too early X

GreenApplesYo · 16/11/2020 13:18

@AMS19 ah yes sorry I meant whether you will have an early scan 🙂I remembered your pre-xmas one. Yeah the 6/7wk option is hard to decide on isn't it. Without MN it wouldn't be a thing I knew existed! I am thinking if I start to get pains or bleeding then I'd he able to get an NHS scan anyway (?) and that I will just assume all is OK unless I have a reason to think otherwise. It would be nice to see the little bean haha but I don't have loads of spare cash atm because of reduced furlough wages and Xmas and saving for a deposit etc, I'd rather keep the £100 and spend it on maternity clothes or on the baby's room later 🙂 really did think I would have my life organised before having a kid haha!

AMS19 · 16/11/2020 13:27

@DrS44 yeah first day of your last period. If you didn't have a period then 2 weeks pre ovulation! You can have scans from 6 weeks onwards

@GreenApplesYo yeah I get you. The nearest one to us in a chain, Window to the Womb, they are all over the UL, and they "only" charge £59 for their private scans. My cousin had an ectopic and zero symptoms, just got picked up at 7 weeks on an early scan. So I'm tempted. But you're right, if anything bad happens we can just go along to the EPU and get it done for free! I reckon I'll cave and go get one done. Once I get to 6 weeks I might risk it and book my Xmas one. They said if you have to cancel they keep the money on file to use at a later date, so fingers crossed if anything happens at some point I'll use it!

GreenApplesYo · 16/11/2020 13:28

@DrS44 hahah you are so cute, love the collage idea.

6wks is the earliest recommended scan for showing if it's a 'viable' pregnancy and for seeing the heartbeat. This would be 4 weeks after ovulation. From what I've read doing it at 7wks is probably better because if you have got your dates a little out, you might go at what you think is 6 but is only really 5+4 for example and then you won't see a heartbeat and might get worried.

They date pregnancies from your last missed period. So it slightly depends on cycle length. It's a little confusing. Say your cycle is 32 days, you could be 4+4 at 14dpo (4 weeks and 4 days). If like me you come off the pill and don't have a period, you base it on your ovulation date and add 2 weeks.

Please anyone correct me if I have any of this wrong!

Emmgrem · 16/11/2020 13:35

@positivitytree2020 @PowerOfFlowers and @jessi60 Sounds like we're all around the same stage in our cycle then as I'm CD10 and not getting any signs on OPKs yet. I'm soooo impatient!
BBT seems to be going up each day but then perhaps it was naturally low during my period anyway and my base is higher 🤷🏻‍♀️
I had pains and stretchy CM but that again was just after my period so can't have been ovulation. Just hope something happens over the next week or so when the apps predict! 🤞

positivitytree2020 · 16/11/2020 13:36

@DrS44 that’s so funny coz my GP said the opposite, when I asked she told me to finish off my packet! 🙄 but I know of other people who were told to just stop mid-way if they were done! 😂 only a week or two in the difference anyway sure! 😊

Yes really hopeful that Cycle 3 is the one now that I’ve a bit more knowledge! 😍🤞🏼🤞🏼 Have a bit of a predicament if not, my sister is due to get married start of October 2021, so if I don’t get pregnant this cycle it could be December, which would mean I’d be due end of September very close to the wedding! 😐 or if I get pregnant January I’d be due the end of October which is also very close to it! 🙄 I know you shouldn’t plan your life around others, but I know she’d be upset if it worked out either of those ways, she prob move her wedding to make sure I could be there! 😢
So here’s hoping for this month! 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

DrS44 · 16/11/2020 13:37

@GreenApplesYo ahhhwww right I get it 😂😂 god that properly battered my head for a few minutes 😂 ok ya that makes sense so 7 weeks is best 👍🏼 thanks @AMS19 too 🙌🏼

@jessi60 sorry yes I'm sure you told me that!! Did you have a withdrawal bleed? I can't remember what you said? Xxx

jessi60 · 16/11/2020 13:38

@Emmgrem Hi! Yeah it does🥰 how long are your cycles? Are you predicted in the next few days aswell?
I’m not doing temperatures. I do a mix of day and night shifts and my body clock is all over the place so don’t think I would get accurate results🤦🏻‍♀️ Xx

jessi60 · 16/11/2020 13:42

@DrS44 Well to be fair mine was abit more complicated. I had my implant out on the 23rd September and then took the pill from the next morning because this was when all the carry on was going on with the house and I thought what happens if I end up pregnant and I don’t have a house 😂 drama queen and naive to think it would happen quick haha. But then i stopped it after only 12 days cause I got bad side effects and then realised I should just stay off it all together. So I probably confused my body.
I had my withdrawal bleed 5 days later. And then a period 28 days after that and here I am CD 11 😂 x

DrS44 · 16/11/2020 15:11

@Emmgrem did you do OPKs on those days when you had EWCM? I just wonder because our bodies aren't playing by the normal rules when we come off the pill?

@jessi60 ohhhh yesss I remember now!! Ya you're definitely keeping your body on its toes 😂 keep us posted on your line progression! When I got a .33 I was buzzing 🤣 next day it surged xxxx

DrS44 · 16/11/2020 15:15

@jessi60 actually it wasn't the next day it was 3 days later that I actually peaked xx

jessi60 · 16/11/2020 15:26

@DrS44 I’ve just ordered the clear blue one aswell (cause I’ve clearly got nothing better to spend my money on 😂) Do you use with FMU and did you wait until you seen something on the cheap sticks before you used them? Don’t want to waste them.

I bet it bloody happens this weekend when I’m on two 13 hour shifts and exhausted😣 X
