Hello!

Im in my first month of trying with my partner of 12 years. With wedding plans up in the air due to covid we decided we didn’t want to put our lives on hold any more so here we are!

I came off the pill, had my withdrawal bleed and now in the two week wait until next week when I can test.

I guess I just wanted to come on here and see if anyone else is new to trying too. Or people who can give light in how long it took them to conceive after coming off the pill.

We haven’t told no one we’re trying so I feel like I haven’t got no one to talk too about it all. Trying to stay positive and would love to have a happy ending to 2020.

Sending baby dust to you all xxx

@jessi60 aww thank you that’s good to hear! 😂 and no she’s just my regular GP doesn’t specialise in fertility at all! 😊

Anyone know should you use FMU for OPKs? Getting conflicting info on it, my CB ones say to use FMU and my cheapies say not to? 😂

I ordered by BBT thermometer last week from Amazon and just got an email to say it’s delayed! 🥺

AMS19 · 11/11/2020 18:05

@positivitytree2020 not for OPKs, I would test around 4pm then more with progression. CB you use FMU - but I never bothered with the CB ones!

@GreenApplesYo I cant deny right now I don't mind it too much. Eating helps! But thank god for working from home!

I've treated myself tonight to some alcohol free wine!

Thanks @AMS19 ☺️ strange that CB ones are FMU, maybe because they are testing for LH and oestrogen!
I’ll start with my cheapies anyway! 😃

GreenApplesYo · 11/11/2020 18:54

Anyone for morning sickness? Free delivery 😂 and... returns!

Ok so I just did an OPK (I'm CD5 after withdrawal bleed- so debatable which CD I'm really on as we've all just been saying)

I'm looking at your chat @AMS19 and I'm getting the same score you have on yours for CD11 I think it was, just before you peaked. Should I be getting excited and keep testing now? Like another one in the morning or??

Or perhaps I'm waiting too long for the line to develop. As you can see I left it 20 mins from the first photo to the most recent one- is that too long for an accurate result?

I also used the Femometer app for good measure and that came up saying 54% High. But the photos were blurry as hell and couldn't get the app to focus however hard I tried so not sure if accurate on that one?!

When the girl from work who went of on maternity leave in Feb with baby no. 2 has just announced she’s pregnant again with baby no. 3 she hasn’t even come back to work yet.

I know it’s bitter but can’t even be happy for her all she’s doing is bragging how easy it was and that it wasn’t even planned ☹️😡 logging off Facebook for tonight to be bitter on my own

GreenApplesYo · 11/11/2020 19:23

@emmgrem I think LH level really varies from woman to woman. My baseline level scanned at about 20-25% on the femometer app. It was like that for a good week or so before I ovulated.

Do your OPKs have instructions telling you what the test window is? Eg they have to be read between 5-10 mins?

Only way you'll get an answer is to keep testing 🙂

GreenApplesYo · 11/11/2020 19:24

@emmgrem as in, keep testing every day and you'll see what your normal LH level looks like and what is you heading towards a peak x

AMS19 · 11/11/2020 19:26

@Emmgrem if it quite short to get a baseline as takes a few days but I would definitely test again! Can you possibly not drink now, hold your urine and test again qt 10pm? Then definitely test again around 10.30ish and see. If it is still climbing it is a good sign. Also DTD tonight! Just in case!

AMS19 · 11/11/2020 19:26

10.30ish tomorrow that should have said! Just don't use FMU tomorrow! If it is still climbing, tests again at 4pm and again at 8pm! Xx

Bells20 · 11/11/2020 19:29

@Emmgrem I think you might have waited a bit too long, mine say to read them after 3-5mins and then discard, I'd probably be inclined to take the first reading out of those. But defo keep testing and if it's going up that's probably a good sign!

Emmgrem · 11/11/2020 19:37

Thanks girls! @AMS19 @GreenApplesYo @Bells20

@Bells20 Mine say it could take 1 min to see a positive, but to confirm a negative wait the full reaction time of 10 mins. Anything after 30 mins is considered an invalid result. So my highest number was 15 mins after POAS 🤷🏻‍♀️

Thanks for the advice @AMS19 I will just test tonight and tomorrow morning then, and DTD tonight 🤞🙌

AMS19 · 11/11/2020 19:41

@Emmgrem mine always said 10mins too!

CardioQueen · 11/11/2020 20:02

Hi all!

@PowerOfFlowers excited for your Spring to arrive!

@Dex1521 & @DrS44 this is so cute, I love that you live near each other ♥️

@positivitytree2020 yeah I'm miles away, I'm out for any meetups too! I'll just be an online friend 🤗

@Emmgrem mine say wait 10 mins for negative and then after that long don't read into any result as it may have overdeveloped. I guess they're all a bit different. To keep us on our toes!

@GreenApplesYo that morning sickness sounds like a bargain, I'd get some if I were you 😂

@Dex1521 gah I understand. Time away from Facebook can only be a positive anyway, so I think a little break is smart. I guess for women who have never struggled (my mum) to get pregnant, it's easy to be oblivious to so many other scenarios. And also some people just have no tact.

@jessi60 I think that's a great age! I'm 33 and everyone around me (in my friendship circles) is 30-40. The only ones who are pregnant or had babies in the last year are one my age and all the others are 35-37.

CWoo · 11/11/2020 20:07
@Mor1301 I came off my pill the start of September and was really worried about it, had been on it for 13 years. I was absolutely fine off it, in fact I hadn’t felt as good in so long. Felt less cranky/anxious, way better sex drive. Like others here mentioned I always thought I was just weird and maybe not into that much, but turns out it was the hormones suppressing me! 😂
So came off it, had withdrawal bleed (counted first day of withdrawal bleed as CD1) and then 29 days later got first proper AF! And then 27 days after that I got second proper AF!
So don’t be worried about coming off it! 😃
I don’t think I ever want to go back on the pill even if I get pregnant and then want to avoid a 2nd pregnancy. I’ll just keep the body working and then it will hopefully be easier/quicker next time.

AMS19 · 12/11/2020 07:27

Morning ladies!

So I did my first IC today, god the lines are light/faint on them compared to a FRER!! So obviously I then had do to a FRER to out my mind at rest (🙄 #POASaddict) but I am glad I did as the progression looks fab. The test line was a blazing positive before the dye even reached the control line!

Anyone let this be a lesson to you all if using ICs. People do say they are only really good to show progression and I think that is so true!!

Hows everyone else today? Thank god it is Friday tomorrow (@CardioQueen you're still on Thursday, right?! Ha) I was meant to ask @cardoqueen where in Aus are you? We spent over 2 months there 3 years ago!

Xx

Amazing @AMS19 loving that progression!! Funny about ICs isn't it, I bought loads thinking I could test periodically during TWW to satisfy that obsessive urge without spending too much money but clearly they won't tell me very much until after I would have taken an FRER anyway. I'd like to say I just won't bother with them this cycle but we all know here at POAS Anon I will absolutely still do it 😂

Out of curiosity has anyone been using/planning to use conceive plus or pre-seed and had any experiences of this?

DrS44 · 12/11/2020 08:35

@AMS19 what's an IC? Is that the cheap ones?

I think I'm going to wait now til Sunday when I think I'll be 12 days DPO! I really don't think I am so I think it'll be possible to wait.

@Bells20 we bought pre-seed! I like it if I'm honest 🤣🤣 but absolutely no idea how effective it is!

I meant to mention - has anyone asked their doc about how long it should take off the pill? On another forum a girl said yasmin/lucette was recommended to her by her doctor to change onto if she was planning on TTC soon after coming off?

DrS44 · 12/11/2020 08:36

@jessi60 no way? That is so funny can't believe we all live in Durham 👏🏻 I'm afraid if you're not Irish you can't sit with us 🤣🤣 just kidding x

CardioQueen · 12/11/2020 08:38

@Bells20 that made me laugh 😂 the first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem so I think you're on the right track.

@AMS19 oh that is a significant difference! Ok noted re: the ICs. You would def need to use an FRER first it would appear. Yes it is still Thursday here and I am also glad it's Friday tomorrow! Urgh work is rubbish this week. I'm in Melbourne! Did you come here when you were over?

SweetShopSurprise · 12/11/2020 10:33

For 7 years now I have had all of the classic symptoms of endometriosis. I have pushed and pushed for diagnostics and yet the only thing ever done has to been repeatedly referred to the hospital for an ultrasound of my ovaries/ womb etc. This has always been inconclusive as nothing has ever shown.

I’ve asked to be referred to a gynae for years with no luck. AF arrived for me on Monday and this cycle has been horrendous in terms of pain and basically every endometriosis symptom you can think of, including for the first time, pins and needles all down my legs.

I just had enough and thought I’m not leaving the Drs without a referral to a gynaecologist. I was so lucky as this time I got a really lovely, sympathetic Dr who, after listening to me, was shocked that I’ve never been referred to a gynaecologist. So she’s made the referral but said obviously it could take a while.

I’m so thankful that I’ve FINALLY, after 7 years been listened to. However I’m also terrified that I’m infertile. Obviously we are going to carry on TTC as normal but I feel really quite meh about it all now as I just have a horrible feeling we’ll be unsuccessful until I’ve received medical treatment. I know it’s not even been diagnosed yet, but she agreed that I have all the classic symptoms and that it’s likely.

Sorry, just don’t really want this to be public knowledge to people IRL right now so it just helps to vent on here!

AMS19 · 12/11/2020 10:44

@Bells20 definitely no harm in having them, just don't assume you're out if you get a BFN as they are miles behind FRERs!

@drs44 yeah Internet Cheapies i think it stands for! Basically the strips you get in packs rather than a CB/FRER etc!

@CardioQueen ah well spent ages there! Abour 9 days. We actually spent Christmas day on St Kilda beach (such a British thing to do!). We had a wedding at port Melbourne which was lovely. And spent some time in the city too, did a seaway tour, walking tour etc. Was fun! Oh and went to a really cool bar at the top of a tower?! Really high up! Such a cool city ❤

AMS19 · 12/11/2020 10:46

Oh bless you @SweetShopSurprise I'm so sorry you've not been listened to! Good for you for pushing. It is great yours getting things looked at now and this can help you with your TTC journey too xx

positivitytree2020 · 12/11/2020 11:02

Would appreciate if anyone wanted to help me read my OPK result, first time doing this so don’t really know what I’m doing! 😂
I’m using the Femometer cheapies & the Femometer app then gives you the result!
My first test seems to be saying high & 50%? I uploaded the results within 5 minutes of doing it (it said not to read the results after 10 mins)

Is this normal? I’m only CD6? Lol! Should I take another one later today, or wait until tomorrow?
Any advice is appreciated! 😂

AMS19 · 12/11/2020 11:08

@positivitytree2020 I am happy to help. I would suggest using premom as I find Fermometer a bit generous! An OPK alone doesn't tell you anything, you have to see a pattern. Is this your first one?
