Hello!

Im in my first month of trying with my partner of 12 years. With wedding plans up in the air due to covid we decided we didn’t want to put our lives on hold any more so here we are!

I came off the pill, had my withdrawal bleed and now in the two week wait until next week when I can test.

I guess I just wanted to come on here and see if anyone else is new to trying too. Or people who can give light in how long it took them to conceive after coming off the pill.

We haven’t told no one we’re trying so I feel like I haven’t got no one to talk too about it all. Trying to stay positive and would love to have a happy ending to 2020.

Sending baby dust to you all xxx

@emmgrem I just put CD1 as the day I came off my pill because I didn't have a withdrawal bleed. I put in that date when I got my positive OPK, just to make the app work properly. You could ovulate any time after coming off the pill? I think that's why it's important not to miss pills. But judging by myself and other people on here, it seems more likely it'll take a few weeks or even longer to ovulate than within a week of finishing. I decided to start using OPKs soon after stopping the pill because I wanted to know when I ovulated.

Mor1301 · 11/11/2020 15:09

@positivitytree2020 how you have explained yourself is how I feel. After speaking to you all I’m less apprehensive about it all! Thank you

Dex1521 · 11/11/2020 15:45

@GreenApplesYo I’ve just downloaded the Flo app and after reading what you said about putting first day of cycle on the day of missed pill it’s worked out my ovulation was yesterday. Now I don’t know if I did ovulate as I haven’t been doing OPKs but we DTD about an hour ago 🙈 so I’m gonna see what happens in these next two weeks or so

Is there someone in this group who got their BFP a week after coming off the pill before getting a withdrawal bleed or period? I can’t remember if it was this one or another I was reading last week. Well whoever it was they’re giving me hope 🤣

GreenApplesYo · 11/11/2020 16:03

Hey @Dex1521 umm well I didn't have a withdraw bleed or period. I came off the pill on the 2nd Oct and ovulated on the 20th, I got a BFP at 9dpo. I'm now 5 and a bit weeks pregnant. I used OPKs and bbt.

There is no science (as far as I know) behind putting the day you came off the pill as CD1, I actually did it when I had a positive OPK and it was to make my app work properly.

Sorry if I've caused any confusion with this!

Well done for DTD though in case haha. It's possible you did ovulate, but your app will just be basing ovulation on a standard cycle, not on you just off the pill?

Dex1521 · 11/11/2020 16:11

@GreenApplesYoyeah I think it was you actually I’m honestly so forgetful 😂. Yeah I understand that it’s just based on a 5 day cycle and not be personally but it gives me something to focus on rather than just knicker checking like a lunatic 😂

Think I’ll start the OPKs in December just to see what happens between bleeds and symptoms etc are the cheap boxes off Amazon where you get like 50 tests for £12 ok to use. Think they’re premom brand. Or what brand is best I’ve never used them before

Bells20 · 11/11/2020 16:40

@Dex1521 they're the ones I'm using. Easy@home I think is the brand name and premom is the app you scan them into. I've been getting on with them well so far, seems a lot of people use them and waaaay cheaper than clear blue!

AMS19 · 11/11/2020 16:41

So I think the confusion on the pill is it depends what pill you were on.

I was in the combined pill so had a withdrawal bleed every month. If you had the same as me you should count the first day of your withdrawal bleed as CD1 (which is what I did and had a 28 day cycle from that day)

If you were on the mini pill and didn't have periods/withdrawal bleeds you may have to wait a month for one. So all you can really use in the first month is the first day after you took the pill. It isbt strictly the right approach but it is all you have

Hope that helps!

GreenApplesYo · 11/11/2020 16:42

@Dex1521 haha don't worry it's really hard to keep track of so many names without faces to go with them. Mumsnet should allow us to have little avatars to go next to our names.

Haha knicker checking lunatic! It's so crazy-making isn't it!

I think premom opks are fine @AMS19 are those the ones you were using? I used the femometer ones which are a similar price. Worked fine for me.

Will you track your bbt as well?

Dex1521 · 11/11/2020 16:43

@bells yeah that’s them! I’ll definitely get those then. You can even get ones with pregnancy tests in too which is really good value to use alongside more expensive PG tests when it’s time to test. My BBT trrmometer has just arrived so excited to do it tomorrow morning and start charting it

AMS19 · 11/11/2020 16:43

@Dex1521 yeah I used the ovusense ones and they were perfect and cheap! I think i paid £5 for a box

@Bells20 yes please I will need local mums! We can meet half way at the 02 for lunch 😂😂

Emmgrem · 11/11/2020 16:55

@AMS19 Thanks for the explanation. I was on the combined pill but taking it back to back for ages and skipping the withdrawal bleeds inbetween packs. So should I have started CD1 from when I came off the pill do you think? 🤷🏻‍♀️
I know neither way is ideal.

With the OPKs guys, sounds like I should get some easy@home ones. I have some cheapies off amazon but I really don't want to be doing line eyes all the time as your eyes start seeing what you want them to. I thought CB would be better where it tells you if you're peak with a smiley face etc. Are there any other brands that do that apart from CB which are cheaper?

Perhaps I should stick to cheapies the first few months and then if nothing happens go to CB when I can afford to take things more seriously!

Bells20 · 11/11/2020 17:10

@AMS19 sounds perfect 😂

@Emmgrem sorry if you know this already but if it helps with the easy@home ones you can scan them with the premom app and it tells you whether they're low/high/peak so you don't have to rely on line eyes so much. I did one today for example even though I'm still on withdrawal bleed and so know I'm not ovulating and there was still a line. On OPKs it doesn't matter so much about the line itself but how dark it is in comparison to the test line if that makes sense... the app will analyse it for you and tell you!

Bells20 · 11/11/2020 17:11

Disclaimer: I don't work for premom or easy@home 😂😂😂 realised that might have sounded like a sales pitch. Other brands of OPKs are available and probably do the same thing hahaha

jessi60 · 11/11/2020 17:38

@Dex1521 interesting to see where everyone is from. I live right next to Durham in the north east so Darlington is literally 20 minutes from my house!

Thanks for all your reassurance with my age, I know I’m being ridiculous. I could of never had children at 23, still felt like a child. But my sister already had two at my age so it is all around me.

@positivitytree2020 wouldn’t worry too much about the gp. I’m a nurse and seriously a lot of doctors don’t know too much regarding fertility 😂 unless of course they specialise in it.

@AMS19 @GreenApplesYo Hope you both are still feeling okay🥰

jessi60 · 11/11/2020 17:40

@DrS44 Just seen you live locally aswell. Although I’m not Irish hahah😂

Dex1521 · 11/11/2020 17:41

@jessi60 wow that’s cool we definitely should all meet up when we can would be nice knowing some other gals ttc/expecting/already mums. We can go through this together 🤣 @DrS44 also lives close to Darlington too

jessi60 · 11/11/2020 17:43

@Dex1521 I was like that with the testing. I had my withdrawal bleed but no period at that point, I wasn’t totally crazy and waited a couple of weeks before doing it 🙄😂 was negative . In hindsight I don’t think I even ovulated Xx

Dex1521 · 11/11/2020 17:47

@jessi60 I think I am totally crazy as I haven’t even had a withdrawal bleed and still tested this morning but I’ve got it out my system the need of wanting to test so it’s sort of settled me down a bit. I was on the mini pill and I know it’s different to the other type of pill that you have a break in taking it every month. I think ovulation comes back a lot quicker for people on that type of pill.

2 weeks and a day I’ve been off the mini pill and I’ve had nothing yet

GreenApplesYo · 11/11/2020 17:48

Aw thank you @jessi60 I'm doing well. Not much to report! I am wondering when the symptoms are actually going to kick in haha

AMS19 · 11/11/2020 17:50

@Emmgrem to be honest it doesn't matter too much the first cycle. Nothing will really settle down properly until you have a first period. My cycle straight off was all over the place! It is mainly to get the apps to work!

And yeah just the cheap ones. You scan them in as @GreenApplesYo so no line eyes needed! If you don't have the easy@home ones which i didn't, just use the other tab on premom to scan them in - like attached

TTC cycle 1 (just come off pill) for #1
AMS19 · 11/11/2020 17:51

@greenapplesyou you're smashing it! I keep getting waves of nausea. I have the real fear as I get further along I'll uncontrollable throw up on a work virtual meeting 🤦‍♀️

CWoo · 11/11/2020 17:56

Hi! Im on a similar boat. Came off the pill end august. Started trying in september but no luck so far. I got ovulation strips to check if it does tally up with the app. Ive got flo & pre mom. Trying not to stress too much about it but i am a bit... ive told my best friend but i told her i didnt want to make a big fuss about it. Good luck to you all!

jessi60 · 11/11/2020 17:57

@Dex1521 I got my period back 28 days later. I was convinced it wasn’t going to come but it did and was very pleased to see it for once. I think the unknown is worse though cause you have no idea what your body is doing and it’s very frustrating 😂 it will come though.

@GreenApplesYo Glad your doing okay! Aw hopefully you might be one of these lucky ones who feel fine throughout🤞🏼🥰

I’m just having a right stress on with house buying. And it’s in the middle of my nightshifts so limited on time to sorting stuff, not fun!
Xx

GreenApplesYo · 11/11/2020 17:57

In a weird way I think I would be reassured by feeling sick @AMS19 but the chances are it will happen soon and then I'll be regretting wanting it! I do have sore boobs. Sore apparently growing boobs haha. I have wondered what to say to people if I can't stop puking too. It'll make it so obvious!

jessi60 · 11/11/2020 17:59

@AMS19 Aw I really hope your nausea doesn’t progress. I can’t think of anything worse than feeling or being sick all the time😔🤞🏼 X
