Hello!

Im in my first month of trying with my partner of 12 years. With wedding plans up in the air due to covid we decided we didn’t want to put our lives on hold any more so here we are!

I came off the pill, had my withdrawal bleed and now in the two week wait until next week when I can test.

I guess I just wanted to come on here and see if anyone else is new to trying too. Or people who can give light in how long it took them to conceive after coming off the pill.

We haven’t told no one we’re trying so I feel like I haven’t got no one to talk too about it all. Trying to stay positive and would love to have a happy ending to 2020.

Sending baby dust to you all xxx

@jessi60 I can understand that pressure, I'm 30 so a reasonable age for TTC I feel, but my entire main friendship group had children really young between the ages of 18-21 and now have multiple children each so I spent a long time feeling very behind, sooo much pressure and so many questions about when I'd start!

@CardioQueen I'm going to pretend I didn't read that comment about childbirth 😂😂

Dex1521 · 11/11/2020 09:04

Has anyone ever woken up with a sudden urge to take a pregnancy test? It’s like as if I have someone inside me screaming at me to take one and I don’t know if I should or not.

I’m 99% sure I’m not pregnant. I’ve been off the pill two weeks and we have been DTD during it but I’ve had no withdrawal bleed or period but I just don’t know there is something telling me I need to go get one 😩 think I’m being silly but I just don’t know maybe it’ll help out my mind at ease if I saw a negative result as I know I can’t be pregnant yet (even though I’d love to be)

DrS44 · 11/11/2020 09:40

@GreenApplesYo I kept dreaming I had taken one last night and it was positive then waking up saying oh no that was a dream go do it properly then falling asleep and doing the same thing over and over 😂🙈 I did a FRER this morning and it was BFN! I would say there was just something wrong with that test or my eyes yesterday 😂 I got ahead of myself I think 😅

@Dex1521 I mean it's highly unlikely you would test positive now even if you were but maybe take one just so you know? I was like that a week or so after my withdrawal, I think it might be because we have been on the pill and constantly told how dangerous it is if you forget one 🙄 up to you of course! So long as you don't think you'll feel upset if it's a negative xxx

DrS44 · 11/11/2020 09:41

@jessi60 27 is a good age ☺️ don't be worrying about others 👏🏻 xxx

AMS19 · 11/11/2020 10:01

@jessi60 I'm 32, very nearly 33, and I fell first month trying! You're absolutely fine xx

PowerOfFlowers · 11/11/2020 10:15

@jessi60 I'm 35 🤣 My group of friends have only just started to have babies / think of having them now and we are all between 30 and 40! I live in London though, and I think that is the norm here. I'm from Wales though and the pressure to have them starts earlier.
How are you all today?
I think this is my last AF day! CD3. I'm normally three days anyway. I feel like my Winter is on its way out and Spring is approaching (@CardioQueen will understand this!! 😄)

AMS19 · 11/11/2020 10:20

@PowerOfFlowers ah I didn't realise you're in London too. Or did I?! Maybe I did 😂🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️ great news AF is nearly done and you can focus on the next cycle!

Yeah I agree it is a London thing. Apart from ym best friend, most people I know and work with my age are only just starting out!

Bells20 · 11/11/2020 10:51

@Dex1521 I was definitely testing at random times straight after coming off the pill just because I was anxious about what if im pregnant and I have too much coffee/alcohol so it was for reassurance that I wasn't more than anything. Then post ovulation I was just testing because I'm obsessive 😂 There's no harm testing if you think you'd be ok with seeing a BFN!

@DrS44 how many dpo are you? Sorry must have missed it earlier in the thread

@PowerOfFlowers I'm cd4 and my bleed seems to be finishing up now so we seem to be at a similar point. I'm ready for spring and DTD again now haha. I'm also London based.

DrS44 · 11/11/2020 11:05

@Bells20 I think I'm actually only 8?! But I have no idea I don't think I've ovulated 🤷🏼‍♀️ who knows...

AMS19 · 11/11/2020 11:06

@Bells20 where in London are you?

Dex1521 · 11/11/2020 11:10

Decided to test for peace of mind used a clear blue digital 5 day early one and came back a big fat no. I’m not disappointed though as I’d prefer to have a cycle first.

I see people mentioning where they are based I live in Darlington (close to Newcastle, Durham, Middlesbrough). I moved to England for Northern Ireland 3 years ago and as sad as it sounds I haven’t made any friends 😰 only work colleagues who I see enough of every day. Would love to be able to meet some other women TTC close by, maybe after lockdown and normality comes around again (if it does) we could meet up for a coffee etc ( decaf of course 😜) Just a suggestion.

positivitytree2020 · 11/11/2020 11:29

Just catching up on everything I have missed!! Congrats @AMS19 on your fantastic results, have all my fingers & toes crossed for you!! 😃

Wondering has anyone had a similar experience - was with my GP the other day and mentioned that I’ve had 2 AF post-pill and still no luck. I had asked her about what day I should be counting CD1, coz I got some really light spotting day or two before AF (i.e should I count spotting as CD1, or when I get proper AF).
She then mentioned that I shouldn’t really be getting spotting before AF and it may mean an inadequate luteal phase which might make it harder to fall pregnant? 😯 from reading online i thought spotting before AF was normal? 😂

Anyone else have similar or know anything about this?

Gonna use OPK & BBT tracking this cycle to pinpoint when I ovulate and then I’ll count LP days from there to see!

AMS19 · 11/11/2020 11:35

Thanks @positivitytree2020

How much spotting? Spotting one or two days before is totally normal and I get that. Sootting for a week before can make it more challenging and vitamins can help with that. Also you should count your first full flow day as CD1, I always ignored the spotting!

@DrS44 come to London for a coffee 🤣🤣 joking aside, maybe once we all have our bubbas we can arrange a POAS anonymous reunion!

GreenApplesYo · 11/11/2020 11:43

@Dex1521 it gets so much harder to make friends once you have finished education, doesn't it! Especially in a new town. I know of Darlington - my parents live nr York and my sister is in Gateshead so I've been through it on the train a few times. I'm in Cumbria. Like you I have made some friends at work. But it seems like it's really hard to make friends outside of work. It's the kind of town where everyone is related or went to school together. I joined the theatre group to meet people, but the way it's organised is really weird. You barely see the same person more than once. It doesn't bother me too much on the whole, I guess because I'm close with my colleagues and we do things out of work as well, but I do sometimes think it would be nice to have a non-work friend or two here as well because if something stressful is happening at work we end up talking about it all the time. How come you moved from NI? Was it for work? 🙂Haha Darlington seems a kinda obscure place to move to (said by the woman who moved to the depths of Cumbria).

@positivitytree2020 ah no it's kinda annoying that the GP said that. I don't get spotting but I've seen loads of people on here mentioning it. They can't all have LP problems. Did she offer to do a blood test?

@DrS44 sorry about the BFN. Ha it's crazy how TTC even gets into our dreams...

positivitytree2020 · 11/11/2020 11:43

@AMS19 ya it’s literally only 1/2 days before AF, nothing more than that (2 days max). It’s normally brownish spotting (TMI) but GP thought that might be indication of inadequate LP! 🤷🏼‍♀️ She said there’s progesterone pessaries you can take for that but I don’t want to be going down that route so soon, especially when I thought spotting was normal! 😂
Glad to hear you get it too and you’ve been very successful! Gives me hope! how are you getting on? 😊

AMS19 · 11/11/2020 11:46

I'm sorry I appreciate she is more educated than me but she is talking absolute bl*ocks! That is 100% normal and most women get it 🙄 GPs are really uneducated when it comes to fertility. There is nothing wrong with you at all!

All good thanks. Nausea is picking up but I dont mind. My hCG strips should arrive today will I can start my POAS party tomorrow!

PowerOfFlowers · 11/11/2020 11:46

Yes I am in London @AMS19 South London (near Kennington). I'm excited for this cycle! First proper one of tracking everything. I've been taking my BBT since CD1
Great stuff @Bells20 - we'll be Cycle buddies!! 😀
@positivitytree2020 I get very light spotting for a day and a half before AF starts too. I used to think this was the start of my Cycle until a few months ago. Never thought it could be a problem. Hmm... I wonder what other people thinks.
This AF I used a menstrual cup for the first time and my cramps weren't as intense as they are normally. I'm usually on the sofa with a hot water bottle but I didn't need anything this time round. Has anyone else experienced this? I've read there is a connection between using them and less intense cramps and if its true then I'm definitely going to keep using my cup! Game changer!!

AMS19 · 11/11/2020 11:47

Also brown is old blood. So that isn't going to help with a new embryo!

positivitytree2020 · 11/11/2020 11:48

@GreenApplesYo ya she took my bloods to see what my hormone levels are like, was only start of cycle so doubt you’d be seeing any progesterone in it!
To be fair, she did saying it MIGHT be an indication of inadequate LP! But it was when she suggested the progesterone pessaries I got worried! 🤦🏼‍♀️
I thought the same, so many people on various threads say they get spotting so can’t be that everyone is having that issue.
Maybe if I pinpoint ovulation this cycle I’ll be able to count how many days of LP then to see what it’s like.

Am I the only one not in UK? I am ROI so guess I’m out for any meet-ups! 😂

AMS19 · 11/11/2020 11:48

Wow really central @PowerOfFlowers I'm over in East London! Definitely not too far in the grand scheme of things though!

AMS19 · 11/11/2020 11:51

Sorry @positivitytree2020 in my anger I didnt tag you in my posts above 👆

Dex1521 · 11/11/2020 11:51

@GreenApplesYo oh Cumbria isn’t too far well like an hour and a half away from Darlington 😅 it definitely is harder to make friends once out of education. I was going to join the hockey team in Darlington but I tried messaging and ringing them and no one ever responded and I just eventually gave up. Both me and my OH are from NI. We moved to Darlington as we wanted to be closer to family it’s kinda a long story 😂

My mum moved to NI to be with my dad (met through their jobs in the police) then 21 years later she moved back to Darlington as they spilt up when I was 4 but she wanted to keep us over there so we could see him etc. My younger sister went to England too with her. I moved in my with boyfriend but he doesn’t have much family as his parents died when he was young so we though f* let’s go to England it’s better wages and cheaper to live so that’s how I ended up in Darlington 😂

positivitytree2020 · 11/11/2020 11:52

@AMS19 haha I agree, GPs aren’t fertility experts so I guess you have to take what they say with a pinch of salt at times. At least you think there’s nothing wrong with me! 😂
Ya I always thought brown blood was just remnants of last cycle or something like that!

@PowerOfFlowers good to hear you get spotting too. Whoops I hope I haven’t worried you. As you can see everyone says it’s normal enough so I am hoping my GP is wrong and was just erring on the side of caution by saying it! 😂

AMS19 · 11/11/2020 11:58

@PowerOfFlowers @positivitytree2020 you both have nothing to worry about. A short LP is anything 10DPO or less. So even if you count spotting, which you don't, your LP wouldn't be short spotting 2 days in advance 🙄🙄🙄 track this month and see what your LP is based on ovulation and proper period!

positivitytree2020 · 11/11/2020 12:03

Thanks @AMS19 ☺️ Going to try and track the amount of days this cycle to prove her theory wrong! 🤞🏼 I’m sure it’s nothing to worry about as you said! Hate when GPs throw these ideas out there, not realising the unnecessary worry it causes! 🙄😂
