Hello!

Im in my first month of trying with my partner of 12 years. With wedding plans up in the air due to covid we decided we didn’t want to put our lives on hold any more so here we are!

I came off the pill, had my withdrawal bleed and now in the two week wait until next week when I can test.

I guess I just wanted to come on here and see if anyone else is new to trying too. Or people who can give light in how long it took them to conceive after coming off the pill.

We haven’t told no one we’re trying so I feel like I haven’t got no one to talk too about it all. Trying to stay positive and would love to have a happy ending to 2020.

Sending baby dust to you all xxx

@GreenApplesYo I bit the bullet and filled in the self referral. It is still so early but I was feeling positive to went for it. If I get to 5 weeks I'll ring and book a private scan for before Xmas. Feels so early to do that yet!

Ah thanks so much @Happythoughts91 as I said earlier, it really is amazing how lovely to have the bond with people going through the same thing. No one else really understands. Now you need to get your BFP this month!

@DrS44 I agree, get a FRER and test tomorrow. As I say, mine was totally blank at 9DPO though so don't rule yourself out if it is. Implantation just might be later!

DrS44 · 10/11/2020 12:48

@AMS19 thanks! That's good to know! I've a busy day tomorrow so I might try resist the urge until Thursday 😊 xx

AMS19 · 10/11/2020 12:56

@DrS44 good luck!! Me telling myself I would resist has worked literally zero times 😂😂 xx

DrS44 · 10/11/2020 13:05

@AMS19 😂😂😂 POAS AA 😅

Bells20 · 10/11/2020 13:35

@DrS44 eek I can see it ever so faintly too.. second what others have said about an FRER soon. I know full well if I was in your situation right now I'd be testing every half hour 😂 you deserve a medal if you manage to hold out until Thursday! Fingers crossed for you lovely!

DrS44 · 10/11/2020 13:45

@Bells20 aw thanks! Ya I definitely won't be able to do that 😂 I will try though!

I text the OH and he was like what an ovulation test and I was like no, like a pregnancy, but it's very very very very very very faint 😂 he didn't reply I was like ahem are you not interested? He was like I was until you used all those verys 😂😂 xxx

Emmgrem · 10/11/2020 13:57

Omg @AMS19 how exciting congratulations!! Am I right in thinking this was your proper first month TTC after first period too? Amazing!!
Especially if you can get a scan in before Xmas, will make it very special! And easier on the drinking situation too..

@DrS44 keep us updated on your developments too. Fingers crossed for you!

I don't know whether I could bear to do line eyes.. but are they more sensitive earlier than the more expensive CB tests? I think my eyes always trick me every time into thinking I see something even when I know I'm definitely not pregnant!

AMS19 · 10/11/2020 14:07

Hey @Emmgrem yeah first proper month! We didn't try the month between withdrawal bleed and proper period (used condoms) as I had a holiday in May I needed to be earlier than 35 weeks for! I dont think I even ovulated that cycle anyway. So first real one. Very very lucky! Im already craving a glass of bubbles to celebrate getting this far...might have to crack open the nosecco 😂🥂😭

DrS44 · 10/11/2020 14:45

@AMS19 love that! I would be the same! Will you let me know what's it's like the nosecco? I will definitely be investing! Yes you've defo given us all hope seen as it's your first proper cycle! I had started thinking of that and waiting for AF but just chances a test for the crack! Wish I hadn't now 🙄😂 xx

Has anyone used this before (Agnus castus/vitex) I’m thinking of taking it hoping it helps my normal cycle comes back as I assume my hormones are imbalanced since coming off the pill (2 weeks today) but I’ve read so many mixed reviews it’s literally 50/50 of do or don’t. I’ve attached an image of the one I’ve bought

GreenApplesYo · 10/11/2020 17:31

Hi @Dex1521 - I haven't tried it. I did look into it, what I read suggested it is helpful for women with a short LP, it's more about balancing the 2nd half of your cycle than helping ovulation? This is from Web MD

"The effects of vitex agnus-castus on fertility is not clear. Some early research shows that it does not improve the chance of becoming pregnant in women with infrequent menstrual bleeding, but it might help those who do not produce enough progesterone"

Could be worth a try anyway 🙂Has anyone else given it a go?

AMS19 · 10/11/2020 17:37

Sorry @Dex1521 I habent but as @GreenApplesYo apples said it is helpful for a short LP. So it vitamin B as well apparently

Dex1521 · 10/11/2020 17:46

@GreenApplesYo @AMS19 I might wait and see what happens by December and see if my cycle returns then start on it if it hasn’t, just so bored of waiting 😂 ideally we want a September or October baby and I know that sounds so vein and if it happened before or after then we would still be over the moon but we just both love those months plus it’s not near our birthdays (feb & March) and I don’t want my child to have the pain of a feb birthday as I’ve always hated it as it’s always raining or snowing and it’s freezing 😂

So December & January we need to get on it like rabbits 🐰😂

GreenApplesYo · 10/11/2020 17:53

@Dex1521 totally get wanting to speed things along. I looked into agnus castus and evening primrose oil before coming to the conclusion they probably weren't going to make me ovulate and maybe it's best not to mess with my body even more, anyway. A week or so later I ovulated anyway!

My birthday is early March. Was jealous of my sister, who had an August birthday. My DP is Xmas day however... Must be the worst birthday, poor boy. He still finds it awkward.

Dex1521 · 10/11/2020 17:57

@GreenApplesYo yeah that’s what I’m thinking I don’t want to mess things up even more it’s so hard knowing what to do

I’m the same jealous of my sister who’s a June birthday. 😂 definitely going to try avoid a Christmas baby but if it happens it happens I’ll not complain will just feel bad for them when they’re older. Suppose it’s a way to save money on birthday and Christmas presents though 😂

AMS19 · 10/11/2020 18:02

@Dex1521@GreenApplesYo I'm a December baby...it socks!! We really wanted September, and had planned to start trying in Dec. But then when Boris said about the tiers and restrictions on socialising I decided I didnt wanna waste this time not being pregnant. This is probably the best time now, I'm not missing out of a thing for once! Usually I would have desperately tried to avoid being pregnant at Christmas with it being my birthday in Dec as well, but it doesn't really matter this year

AMS19 · 10/11/2020 18:02

@GreenApplesYo have you worked out your due date?

Bells20 · 10/11/2020 18:03

@Dex1521 I had looked into taking that too in relation to a short LP. my bleed came only 8 dpo this month so started to worry about a short LP but decided to wait a bit because I don't feel like I had a proper' cycle having just come off the pill so thought I'd see if my body sorts itself out over the coming months. Let me know if you do give it a go id be interested in how you get on.

Bells20 · 10/11/2020 18:06

I'd also thought about timings recently as FF told me if I'd caught this month the due date would have been end of July... similar time to my birthday and it suuuucked being the youngest in every class at school haha. The more I thought about it I could pick random reasons why every month could be problematic and now have just concluded there's no ideal time and I don't care when it happens as long as it happens haha

Dex1521 · 10/11/2020 18:08

@AMS19 yeah that’s good thinking actually. I don’t if I’m pregnant over Christmas I try to think of it as less calories consumed (I’ll make up for them in food though 😂)

@Bells20 I’ll let you know if I decide to try it will be around December I think. Just hoping and praying a cycle returns for me soon as I’ve had nothing yet (two weeks off pill)

AMS19 · 10/11/2020 18:14

@Bells20 I did say that to my husband, this little bean is due 20 July, not ideal at all! On the brightside it will most likely have its birthday in the school holidays, which is hit or miss depending how you look at it 🤷‍♀️

GreenApplesYo · 10/11/2020 18:25

@bells20 my DP used to be a primary school teacher so knows how tricky it can be for summer kids - apparently once you hit 13 the age/brain development gap levels off, but it can be tough on primary kids. We did have a conversation about whether to even try TTC in Oct, but in the end decided to take every chance we could - thinking it would be quite unlikely to conceive right away anyway.

@AMS19 July 13th based on my ovulation date as there was no LMP. I am usually not superstitious, but I wish it was the 12th or 14th instead haha. How about you?

Bells20 · 10/11/2020 18:46

@GreenApplesYo @AMS19 I did think after I'd posted that, that the two of you are both on track for July babies so hoped you didn't think I was just being rude! For what it's worth, I was a July baby and went on to get a phd so it's not all bad 😂

DrS44 · 10/11/2020 18:48

@GreenApplesYo I'm a mid July baby and was always the youngest in my year! Did very well in education though 😅 if that's any reassurance 🤣🤣

GreenApplesYo · 10/11/2020 19:02

Haha @DrS44 @bells20 it's OK - my sister the August child was in the academic year below me, and somehow learned to read at the same time as me despite not even being in school yet. She was always very focused, whereas I was the daydreamy-bad-at-maths one.

What's your PhD in @bells20? 🙂
