TTC cycle 1 (just come off pill) for #1

Hello!

Im in my first month of trying with my partner of 12 years. With wedding plans up in the air due to covid we decided we didn’t want to put our lives on hold any more so here we are!

I came off the pill, had my withdrawal bleed and now in the two week wait until next week when I can test.

I guess I just wanted to come on here and see if anyone else is new to trying too. Or people who can give light in how long it took them to conceive after coming off the pill.

We haven’t told no one we’re trying so I feel like I haven’t got no one to talk too about it all. Trying to stay positive and would love to have a happy ending to 2020.

@greenapplesyo yeah I've bought a pack of 20 strips off amazon!! 🤦‍♀️ Im going to do them every 2 days and the other CB digital I have next week. I'm tempted to book an early scan in too. I'll definitely do a private one at 10 weeks just before Xmas day, but tempted to do one at 6 weeks too just to put my mind at rest on it being ectopic etc. You can see the heartbeat from 6 weeks....

Considering your both now considered knowledgeable in this field 😂 when do you think I should start doing my ovulation tests? I had a withdrawal bleed and then 28 days after that I’ve had my period. Cycle day 5 at the minute and I think af is going to stop today hopefully 🤞🏼. I’ve got the cheap strips but going to get the clear blue one aswell this month. Just don’t know which day to start testing from? Any advice? 🤔 thanks! Xxx

@GreenApplesYo that made me laugh, I don't think I'd even started TTC when I brought tests in preparation and thought I'd just wee on one just incase haha. I'm even having urges to test now even though I'm mid bleed. It's just because I know they're there... it's the same reason I can't have biscuits in the cupboard haha @Dex1521 defo a good idea not to have tests around too early it's easy to get a bit obsessive I think!

@AMS19 a private test before Xmas sounds amazing, what a fantastic present that would be for you!

I've seen a few posts on here where people went for 6 wk scans and ended up more worried because there was no heartbeat/nothing to see, some went back at 7/8 wks and it was all fine. Maybe worth looking into - waiting until 7wks might be better? I'd be tempted at 7-8wks but the nearest place I can have it done looks a bit... odd and gimmicky. One of the downsides of living in the sticks, not much choice.

@Bells20 @GreenApplesYo I’m definitely a compulsive person too and wouldn’t be able to stop thinking about them if I had them in the cupboard I just can’t help myself 😂

I’d be the same too - mid bleed and wanting to test 😂 trying to stay away from them or I’ll be joining you in POAS anon too lol even though every time I’m in a supermarket or boots I end up in that aisle. I tell my OH “I’m just looking” 👀

@jessi60 if you have a box of cheapies might be worth starting soon so you get an idea of what your baseline level of LH is like. It seems to vary a lot from person to person. Although this is advice coming from a POAS addict hahah 🙂but I think no harm in starting once period has left, they're super cheap and it will help you see what normal is for you.

@bells20 ha like the biscuits in the cupboard example, it's exactly like that! Ooh go on then, I'll treat myself to one.

Great ppint about the 6 weeks! I never thought about it like that. To be honest I might jaut wait for 10 weeks. But I'll see. I'll definitely do the one before Xmas though.

@jessi60 I started on CD7. My base line was zero so do not worry if you get error messages scanning into premom. I always got that and worried than my peak came out of nowhere!

I think I can join the POAS addict club 😂😂 did a very early test today 🙄 just in case these pms symptoms were pregnancy symptoms 🙈 don't think I can help myself! I'm only 8DPO according to the app, but I don't even think I have ovulated! I'm pretty sure my eyes are playing tricks on me but I can kind of see a vvvvvvvvvvvvfl 😅 god I wish I wasn't this compulsive 🙄😂 xxxx

Ha 8DPO is very early!! To be fair I tested at 9DPO. Huge BFN at that point. You never know though....🤞🤞🤞

@AMS19 I'll probably try again tomorrow because I am the most impatient human being alive 😂😂 there's literally the tiniest line ever that I can only see if I squint 😂 I think I'm making it up tbh 🤣🤣

I think he is excited. He seems excited. To be honest when I woke him up this morning to show him he was too tired to care 😂🤦‍♀️🙄 bloody men!
We both know it is still super super early and so the risks are there. So taking one day at a time and not getting carried away with it. It is so hard though to not let your mind run away with you. Must stay away from Pintrest 😍😍😍😍

Yes I love to drink! Luckily being in lockdown will help, so I dont plan to see anyone until Xmas. I've stocked up on noseccco from asda 😂😂 so will use that for virtual drinks. Then Xmas I can just tell my family. Otherwise it would be impossible to keep it secret. That is one of the reasons we actually started trying earlier, lockdown made it easier to keep it secret and not miss out on all the drinking fun! Xx

@AMS19 I was happy with the line. I really will stop now. It's not that I'm even feeling particularly anxious about things... It's just this tiny 'what if' at the back of my mind which makes me do it. When will you contact the midwife? Xmas 10wk scan is a lovely idea. I'm still hoping they might do my 12wk early (11wks would be around 22nd Dec) but I think it's more likely they will do it late as apparently up to 14wks is fine.

Maybe the next thread should be called POAS Anon. Haha

@AMS19 haha that's the same as us! Easier to keep secrets! I was looking into nosecco and the non alcoholic gin too because I would not be able to fool anyone 🤣🤣

Ya it could be an evap line but I did see it when I checked first, but it didn't photograph as well. So this is much later so it could be that to be fair! I'll try again in a few days to see! I really think AF is on the way to be fair! Only time will tell!

@DrS44 8dpo as well. I had a shadow like yours on a cheapy. Did a CB test the next morning as I didn't have any FRERs and it was a faint BFP. Not to get your hopes up too much 🙂 Would recommend the FRERs if you don't already have some and want to test with an early detection test - they were much easier to read than the CB blue dye tests, very clear.

Interested in what people think of the nosecco and the un-gin 🙂 I have been drinking lots of slimline tonic and ice.

@GreenApplesYo aww that's helpful thank you! To be fair I would be seriously shocked! I have 2 FRERs! Should I wait til tomorrow do you think? It could be an evap line too but I thought I seen it at the time 🤷🏼‍♀️ xxx

@DrS44 yeh I reckon wait until the morning to try again with FMU as there's a better chance of a more accurate result 🙂 you could always do another cheapy tonight after a 2-3hr hold and see if anything comes up if you are feeling impatient.
