TTC cycle 1 (just come off pill) for #1

Hello!

Im in my first month of trying with my partner of 12 years. With wedding plans up in the air due to covid we decided we didn’t want to put our lives on hold any more so here we are!

I came off the pill, had my withdrawal bleed and now in the two week wait until next week when I can test.

I guess I just wanted to come on here and see if anyone else is new to trying too. Or people who can give light in how long it took them to conceive after coming off the pill.

We haven’t told no one we’re trying so I feel like I haven’t got no one to talk too about it all. Trying to stay positive and would love to have a happy ending to 2020.

Hi @Dex1521 I came off cerazette 11th October so not too far ahead of you. I was expecting a bleed much sooner but it only happened yesterday! Had lots of confusing pregnancy-type symptoms though- or maybe just AF symptoms but because I hadn't had a period for years it was hard to remember what that was like!
I'm the same, haven't told anyone that we're TTC as couldn't cope with all the questions either!

@Bells20 Thanks for replying. It’s good to hear someone else’s experience on the mini pill. I’ve had loads of pregnancy/AF symptoms these last two weeks such as feeling sick, cramps, gassy (tmi 😂) , tired so hoping I have mine by end of November. It’s good to know someone’s at roughly the same stage as me as all I want to talk about is babies. My OH is sick of me 😂

Yayyy period 🙌🏼👏🏻 that's brill! And a really good cycle length! I'm not certain when is best but if you put the dates into one of those calendars on the apps it should tell you your fertile window? So I would imagine just before you enter that to make sure you don't miss it?

I think AF is on the way for me now too! Weird pms symptoms which I normally wouldn't get! So hopefully it does come soon and I can get on top of my cycle like you!

Welcome @Dex1521 ! We haven't told anyone we are TTC either. I was on the combined pill so not the mini one and had a withdrawal quite soon after. Pretty sure mini is different though because you don't have withdrawals regularly? Don't worry it'll come 😊👍🏼 xx

@Bells20 please let me know how you get on with the period pants? I've been looking at reviews and considering getting some modibodi ones. Which have you got? I just hate all the waste of sanitary towels and tampons. And after taking the pill back to back for so long I've forgotten what my heavy teenage periods were like 😬 I have got a mooncup but will probably take me some getting used to again.

@GreenApplesYo congratulations! And so exciting and reassuring for us all that you had a positive result so early on, by doing all your research and knowing when you ovulated etc. Gives us all hope that it's possible post-pill!

Also those of you talking about cervical positions- I think I'm too squeamish to add that to my list of things to track haha. But I'm sure I'll be swayed if I get a few cycles in!

I'm now CD3 in my withdrawal bleed although I think the bleed is actually already over so that would be my shortest one on record, but I dont think I had a pill break all year so far!
I'm counting down the days until what the apps predict would be my first fertile window so I can start using OPKs and watching my BBT more closely 🙌 So excited haha

@Dex1521 haha don't worry nothing is tmi! I'm all for the baby chat! Hard to think about much else at the moment it all feels exciting. Hopefully you'll get your first bleed soon then you'll know where you stand.

@DrS44 I love sleep stories! The ones in headspace are my favourite- in fact I think I'm gonna put one on now and get an early night! 😴

@Emmgrem I got mine from modibodi, they're the ones ive seen people talk about most so thought I'd give them a try. Yeah I'm already feeling like I've done my little bit for the environment by buying them haha I'll definitely feed back when I've given them a go, hopefully they'll be delivered before my bleed stops so I'll get a chance to try them out!

@DrS44 yeah I was so pleased, quite sad really 😂😂 I mean would of been happier if I was pregnant but that was always going to be unlikely I guess! I haven’t had periods in ten years and forgot how bad I get back pain with it so not enjoying that. I’m hoping it finishes tomorrow as that will be 5 days and roughly what I can remember off years ago.

Think I’m going to buy the clear blue ovulation test for this time and see how I go with that!

@Dex1521 Hi! I wasn’t the mini pill but the implant. I had my withdrawal bleed 5 days after and it lasted five days. I got my period 28 days afterwards. Hoping it finishes today and it makes it only a 5 day period. I was the same and worrying about getting my periods back etc so was really pleased when it happened! All I can say is just to wait and it will happen. You’ll search high and low on night and unfortunately everyone is so different. Some people wait months and others it happens quick 😔 but you’ll get there!!

@Emmgrem Hi! Yeah I had to use my withdrawal bleed to date and that’s all I had to go off but now I’ve had my first period so able to track off this bleed instead. Xx

@Dex1521 welcome 🙂I came off cerelle (mini pill) on 2nd Oct. No withdrawal bleed or period, conceived 20th Oct. But I know this is rare and I am extremely lucky. I am 35 so was fully expecting it to take a year. My DP thinks it's because he has 'super sperm' haha but I think it's definitely just luck 🙂

@GreenApplesYo wow that’s amazing news congratulations! I’m 23 so I am hoping I have age on my side but also fully expecting it to take up to a year I hope not longer though🤞. Can I ask a question?

How did you you know you were pregnant or what made you decide to test? We’ve purposely been putting off DTD until my cycle came back, just Incase that happened and I didn’t release and did something stupid like had a drink as I couldn’t live with myself if I did that. We are ttc baby #1 and neither my siblings or my OHs siblings have kids so have no one to talk to about it 😂

@Dex1521 I didn't really have any symptoms I can share, I was impatient and took a very early test 🙂 I think symptoms vary so much from woman to woman, you just can't know until you take a pregnancy test.

By the way, if you haven't already come across this, google 'chemical pregnancy'. This is when an egg is fertilised, but isn't actually viable. Very upsetting if you think you're pregnant, and then AF arrives. This is the main reason you might not want to test before AF is due.

You definitely have time on your side 🙂haha I met my DP quite late after a few false starts.

Drinking in the 2ww is personal choice. A few drinks is considered to be OK. I didn't drink after ovulation, but lots of people do. The little egg isn't getting any nutrients from you/sharing blood until after implantation anyway.

Sorry if you have said this already, but will you be using OPKs/temping? 🙂

I’ve been getting cramps and feeling nauseous these past two weeks which will be AF or my body adjusting to no pill not pregnancy 😂 I’ve read about chemical pregnancies before and going to try hold off testing until AF is due that’s why I’m hoping a cycle arrives soon so I can track as I know it would break my heart if that happened.

I know I’m going to get sucked into to testing so I’m putting off buying any tests until I’m on a cycle and have told myself only to test the first day of my period after ovulation. My OH agrees that that’s the best way too and not to stress about it.

I’m planning on using BBT and CM to track ovulation to begin with as again i think with OPKs it’s gonna stress me out if I don’t get a positive. After say 3 months or 4 months of no success I will opt for OPKs. I’ve ordered a digital thermometer off Amazon and it’s to arrive tomorrow x

@GreenApplesYo and with the drinking, on a Friday and Saturday night I have 1 or 2 ciders because after two I’m ready for my bed 😂 I’m not a big drinker anyway so think I’d be ok tbh

Haha I feel you!! I was on the pill since I was 19 and came off them at 34. The last year has been a huge learning curve of getting to know by body again. So weird isn't it?! How are you finding period pants? Have you tried them yet? I bought a Vidacup (basically a Mooncup) last month and now I'm using that in the day and pads at night. I feel like I'm doing my own little thing to help the environment ☺️ I was testing OPKs with my first pee, but I might move it to 3-4pm then or just do morning and afternoon for this cycle... Hahaha I drink 3ltrs a day too and pee a LOT!!

I use easy@home opk as well and usually test in the afternoon and try to test around the same time each day. Also, it's not recommended to test with first morning urine, and you may try to reduce liquid intake for 2 hours before testing since diluted urine could affect the test result.

Ahh thanks so so much ladies! I was super nervous. I won't up absolutely pouring with sweat (gross) so at least I knew my temp would still be high 😂😂 bloody BBT testing, I'm obsessed with being warm now! Ha!

Yes 15DPO. Still got another week to get past CP territory but one day at a time. I am so happy to see the line progression and the CB date is right as it is from ovulation not last period. Not it is all moving in the right direction ❤

@Dex1521 ah cool it's good to be aware of the chemical pregnancy risk. Not buying tests is definitely the right strategy. I was like, oh I could just get some tests in ready for later in the week... Oh well, I could just wee on one...

BBT and CM sounds sensible 🙂especially if you are planning on DTD every other day or so. I enjoyed the temping once I got used to it, it was good seeing the temp rise.

@AMS19 will you keep testing? I think I am a POAS addict. It's really sad. I need to go to POAS anon (I've been testing every other day even though I said I'd stop)
