Hello!

Im in my first month of trying with my partner of 12 years. With wedding plans up in the air due to covid we decided we didn’t want to put our lives on hold any more so here we are!

I came off the pill, had my withdrawal bleed and now in the two week wait until next week when I can test.

I guess I just wanted to come on here and see if anyone else is new to trying too. Or people who can give light in how long it took them to conceive after coming off the pill.

We haven’t told no one we’re trying so I feel like I haven’t got no one to talk too about it all. Trying to stay positive and would love to have a happy ending to 2020.

Sending baby dust to you all xxx

@drs44 I did them once a day at 4pm. You need to hold going to the toilet for 2 hours and try not to drink any liquids. Then I tested more when I actually got some colour so I managed to see my peak. It disappeared every quickly after! Here are mine

Wow ya that happens super quickly!! Thanks so much that's really helpful @AMS19 xxxx

AMS19 · 07/11/2020 16:11

No worries at @drs44 xx

DrS44 · 07/11/2020 19:04

@AMS19 can I also be really nosey and ask you how long after your withdrawal bleed did you have your AF? I know it's different for everyone but just curious? Were you on a combination pill? Xxx

DrS44 · 07/11/2020 19:07

@AMS19 do you know much about BBT? Mine seemed to go up quite high on the 5th and then down quite sharply after that? Is that a sign of anything? On the 5th I tested two OPKS morning was .35 (the highest I've had so far ) and night was .17 so I doubt I missed it?

AMS19 · 07/11/2020 19:08

Hi @DrS44. Yeah of course. So my withdrawal bleed was super light. 2 days at most and hardly touched the pad. They usually were. Yes was on the combined pill so had a withdrawal bleed every month which was always light. My first cycle was 27 days (started spotting on evening on day 26). My BBT was literally all over the place. I did do OPKs but started too late in my cycle as I had just assumed it would be 35-45 days. But even if i had started earlier i would be surprised if i ovulated.

How long have you been off the pill and how's it been so far?

AMS19 · 07/11/2020 19:09

@DrS44 do you have a chart you can share? No 0.34 defo isn't peaked and if you tested more than once it is unlikely you missed it. But not impossible!

DrS44 · 07/11/2020 19:16

@AMS19 thanks so much that's really helpful. Great that your cycle was such a good length!

Ya I was on the pill for around 13 years (not ideal at all!) but the doctors said it wouldn't be an issue? My withdrawal bleed was much heavier than normal and lasted about 4-5 days (maybe two days after I stopped)! Probably didn't help that I stopped mid cycle?

Yeah I've some charts, I've really not been consistent though I need to get the tactics down and do it properly for next month! Hoping I get a good cycle so I know when I ovulate etc! Thanks so much for your help xxx

I would definitely reccomend using fertility friend for charts. They show it so much clearer in my opinion. Here are my 2 chats, the one from withdrawal bleed to proper AF. And this cycle (with the dreaded drop i got this morning). You can see the temp increase post ovulation doesn't have to be a big jump. And there is no clear increase in the first cycle (hence no red lines where added by the app). Your 3 temps post expected ovulation just have to be higher than the previous ones and then FF will add the red lines and "confirm" ovulation happened. It isnt too clear on yours as you need to see a longer pattern to spot it, if that makes sense. I would say keep doing the OPKs and keep charting your BBT just in case you do get a peak so you can confirm ovulation actually happened (because an LH surge just means your body is trying to ovulate).

Hi everyone Smile

Mind if I join the party?

I’m 29, been with my husband 12 years and just made the decision to TTC for baby no.1 Grin Eek!

I came off microgynon 6 days ago and I’m on day 1 on my withdrawal bleed. Bought a BBT, some cheap OPKs and taking pre natal seven seas vitamins.

Apprehensive about how long cycles will take to go back to normal as I don’t even remember what normal is after 12 years on the pill!
I hope it’s possible to ovulate in month no.1 as I just want to get started, but now on reading all the advice I wish I went pill free sooner!

I can tell I’m going to be super impatient and obsessive about all this so want to take as much control as I possibly can, and chart everything. I’m reading The Impatient Woman too as recommended by so many people on this forum! Learning so much already!

Looking forward to sharing the crazy journey with you all

DrS44 · 07/11/2020 19:36

@AMS19 ya that makes perfect sense! I don't have much data or anything yet but I'll keep it up!

Welcome @Emmgrem you're the exact same as me! I'm like surely I MUST be pregnant now (and I'm 14 days post withdrawal) 😂😂

Sounds like you're doing all the right things though! I'm not sure if I've ovulated this month at all! But hoping I've just missed it! Best advise is just get busy as much as possible I suppose 🤷🏼‍♀️ xxxx

AMS19 · 07/11/2020 19:38

@Emmgrem welcome!! We are all quite new! @GreenApplesYo is our star graduate! My experience is when most people say they fall straight away then mean after their first proper period.. it isnt impossible to fall straight off the pill but unlikely. I didnt ovulate in my first cycle but it was only 27 days so not too bad! Great you're so prepared. I've shared lots of charts in this chat so shout if anything isn't clear!

AMS19 · 07/11/2020 19:40

@drs44 you're gonna smash the next cycle ❤❤

May94 · 07/11/2020 21:03

Hi all, I have loved reading all the info on this thread and great to see that there has already been a BFP!

I took my last pill (mid pack) on September 27th and had a withdrawal bleed a few days later. Does anyone know if my cycle would have started from the first day of the withdrawal bleed or from the first day I stopped the pill?

I have been using Natural Cycles since mid October but pretty sure I ovulated before I started using the app. Now I’m worried that I’m not going to ovulate this cycle as I am already on day 14 and have been getting negative LH tests. On what days of your cycle do you even ovulate normally?

I am TTC but not trying to become obsessive about it but I thinking I’m loosing the battle already haha!

GreenApplesYo · 07/11/2020 22:05

Hi @May94 welcome 🙂

The day you ovulate really depends on your cycle length. If you have a 28 day cycle you'd usually ovulate on CD14. If your cycle is 32 days, it might be more like CD19. LH peaks can happen really suddenly so just keep testing and hopefully it'll come soon.

Not sure about your other question? I'd guess from when you had your withdrawal bleed.

AMS19 · 07/11/2020 22:19

Hi @May94 use the first day of your withdrawal bleed. It isnt technically a proper cycle yet but I went with the first day of my withdrawal bleed as a proxy! Really you should start tracking / counting cycles until you've had your first proper period, but I was too impatient 😂😂

GreenApplesYo · 08/11/2020 07:22

Hi @AMS19 how are you doing? Thinking of you 🙂

CardioQueen · 08/11/2020 07:23

@AMS19 hello, just playing catch up here, had a busy weekend as we're just coming out of our 4-month lockdown. Any progress on the FRERs? Or if AF has arrived? Think you've def got the right attitude about it and at least everything is working if its a CP or ends up just being a BFN. What app is it that you've used for the photos of your OPKs please?

Welcome @Emmgrem and @May94 ☺️ to give some idea of how different everyone can be, my first 'cycle' between withdrawal bleed and first period was 37 days and I don't think I ovulated but I wasn't tracking. My second cycle was 57 days and I ovulated on day 47 🙄 I am hoping I am settling a bit now and this cycle will be a bit more regular (my regular cycle would be around 33-36 days from memory). I have been on and off the pill for 16 years.

I am on CD9 so still really nothing to report this end. However having read that book @PowerOfFlowers I am so interested to note how I feel in general in my Spring phase!

AMS19 · 08/11/2020 07:43

Morning @GreenApplesYo @CardioQueen

Well...no line progression at all (the top one in the pic is today, bottom yesterday) but temp at least went back up. And line is still there so that is a good sign. It is still very faint and I still constantly feel I am/have come on - I've nearly run out of dark knickers have to wear them during the day and another pair to bed 😂🤦‍♀️

I'm going to test again Tuesday if AF doesn't arrive before as that it when I'm due. Will try and FRER and a CB digital then 🤞🤞🤞 my body is giving it a good go!

@CardioQueen premom for the OPKs 🙂 I use fertility friend for my main charting but premom for the OPKs

CardioQueen · 08/11/2020 07:49

@AMS19 oh yes temp has def jumped back up! Maybe that can happen? It's not like it plummeted to your lowest from FP. I feel like we're all doing a science experiment and trying to work out how to write up the report. Oh I feel you on the dark underwear 😂 I spent 20 days from CD37 last cycle going through this 🙈 I'm really funny about which ones I like to wear for workouts too. I think I need to get more haha.

Ok will get Premom for the OPKs, thank you!

AMS19 · 08/11/2020 07:53

@CardioQueen you are spot on about the experiment point! I really wish I had never done any tracking or research and didn't know everything I know 😂😂 to go back to the days before I knew what a chemical pregnancy was and wouldnt have thought twice about a positive test 🤦‍♀️😂 ahh well...as I said, lots of positives to take from this cycle even if it doesn't work out

lambo88 · 08/11/2020 07:55

I was on cerezette and came off this back in January 2017 as we knew later in the year we wanted to try for a baby and knew I needed to wait to have regular periods again after being on the pill for so long...we started ttc September 2017 and got caught the next month xx

Bells20 · 08/11/2020 07:58

@AMS19 that looks promising! Got my fingers tightly crossed for you!

I had planned to have a sneaky FRER this morning at 9dpo but then received a lovely surprise from AF at 5am this morn or actually what must be a withdrawal bleed as it's the first one since coming off the pill. definitely too much to be implantation spotting. Feeling a bit disappointed, definitely was a part of me that thought I might be one of those amazingly lucky people who catches without even having a bleed! Hopefully will be more able to track my cycle from now on and at least now I can have a v strong caffeinated drink today!

Bells20 · 08/11/2020 08:03

@CardioQueen @AMS19 that comment about science experiments has really got me that's exactly what it feels like haha. I always liked science at school but now I'm not so sure 😂 defo feeling like I've learnt so much over the last month or so!

@lambo88 that's fantastic news! I've recently come off cerazette myself hopefully I'll get lucky soon too!
