Hello!

Im in my first month of trying with my partner of 12 years. With wedding plans up in the air due to covid we decided we didn’t want to put our lives on hold any more so here we are!

I came off the pill, had my withdrawal bleed and now in the two week wait until next week when I can test.

I guess I just wanted to come on here and see if anyone else is new to trying too. Or people who can give light in how long it took them to conceive after coming off the pill.

We haven’t told no one we’re trying so I feel like I haven’t got no one to talk too about it all. Trying to stay positive and would love to have a happy ending to 2020.

Sending baby dust to you all xxx

Sorry it didn't tag 🙄 @jessi60

jessi60 · 02/11/2020 20:48

Also.. I’ve been taking the pregnacare vitamins and my urine is like fluorescent yellow. It’s apparently how your body expels too much of what you don’t need xx

AMS19 · 02/11/2020 20:50

Haha don't worry @jessi60 me too! I've been on them for 2 months and my wee is still so bright it glows! It is the excessive vitamin B apparently 🤷‍♀️

jessi60 · 02/11/2020 21:07

So do you know on your tests then when you got a high reading on days 12 and 13. Does that mean you need to have sex then or have you already missed the boat at that point? @AMS19 xx

AMS19 · 02/11/2020 21:11

@jessi60 no it means you are about to ovulate. You usually ovulate 12-24 hours after your peak. So thats the time to get down to it!! I did it twice on the day of my peak

CardioQueen · 02/11/2020 23:23

@AMS19 oh thanks for that, worth a try, I’ll pop into the chemist today!!

@jessi60 welcome! Hopefully your period will arrive on time! But def don’t worry if it doesn’t - my body has taken a full 3 months to (fingers crossed) regulate, but that does seem very normal from everything I’ve read on here and elsewhere ☺️

Happythoughts91 · 03/11/2020 09:34

Hey girls, hope your all doing okay.

@GreenApplesYo Been thinking of you and looks like you’ve done amazing.

Hope everyone else is getting on okay? @AMS19 are you in your TTW?

So I’m officially in my first proper month off the pill. I had my withdrawal bleed last month. Believed to have ovulated on day 14 (Had peak on the Clear Blue)

My first proper bleed come on day 29. So I was a day late. But seeing as it was my first month off the pill. I was very happy.

I’m not cycle day 4. I’m a hairdresser and my partner is a chef. So we’re both home for the next month with no work. So I feel like this is perfect opportunity. And feel much more happier with my body now it’s had a proper cycle.

We have some clear blue ovulation sticks left so Will give them another month of trying those. And we have had some conceive plus delivered. So will see where that gets us.

Hope your all doing okay. And yes my wee is bright yellow too!!

Hey @Happythoughts91 yay so so good to hear from you!! This is really your first cycle TTC so super exciting. I didnt count my cycle from withdrawal bleed to proper period. 29 days is a lovely cycle length too, well done body 👏 sorry about the lack of work but yay for having more time to DTD 😂😂 when will you start testing with the CBs?

Yes 8DPO for me. No way I'm gonna last another 10 days until testing 😂🤦‍♀️

GreenApplesYo · 03/11/2020 10:05

Hahah the bright yellow wee. Mine too - it's like yellow highlighter pens.

Oof how are you feeling about the 2nd lockdown? Are you on furlough? I was supposed to return to work on Monday, but have had furlough extended for a week - not sure what will happen after the week. I'd love to go back to work!

Good you will have lots of baby making time though! Fingers crossed this is your month 🤞

I'm feeling slightly nervous, I'm 14dpo so it's about the time I would start a period. Should all be fine, but I'll be glad when I get into the 6th week 🙂

GreenApplesYo · 03/11/2020 10:06

Oooh @AMS19 how long do you think you will hold out for? I swear 5-8dpo was the worst...felt like the days were so slow. At least soon you'll have an answer either way. How's the symptom spotting? 🙂

PowerOfFlowers · 03/11/2020 10:21

Hello! Hope you are good @Happythoughts91 Mine is highlighter yellow too!! Its so weird. I told DP last night and asked if his is too because he takes the pills for men, but his is normal 😂
Definitely a great time for you guys to dtd now you're both home!
I'm 7dpo today and cycle day 29. Still moody 😄 But managed a 20mins hiit and will go for a walk at lunchtime. Why does this time go so slow??! The first two weeks of my cycle flies by!

jessi60 · 03/11/2020 10:31

My boobs are killing today, never had this before :( hopefully it’s a sign af is coming. Then I know what’s going on xx

AMS19 · 03/11/2020 10:35

@GreenApplesYo it is so fab you've got to here! Are you going to stop testing now? How do you feel?
Symptom spotting is just my life at the moment. The issue is the progesterone is probably causing most of it so doesn't mean anything. Just hoping AF stays away as long as possible if she is coming so I know I have a decent LP. BBT went up again so that is good, way above the cover line now

@powerofflowers I feel you...I'm so grumpy! My husband is at his mums layer and I think for the sake of our marriage this is a good thing 😂😂 that is interesting he doesnt get the bright yellow pee! He is missing out...

SweetShopSurprise · 03/11/2020 11:04

Hey Ladies!

First month TTC here. Haven’t used OPKs yet, just went by what my Flo app said this month but I’m going to order some strips for next month as I doubt the app is very accurate.

I ordered some pre seed too but we haven’t used it yet either. I think we basically decided to just keep it simple and relaxed in the first month and then if no luck, crack on properly next month.

I’m 33 and haven’t been on hormonal contraception for 6 years now so my periods are very regular.

AF, for me is due on Monday (9th) Last week I convinced myself I had loads of ‘pregnancy symptoms’ Hmm but this week I haven’t had any!!

I’ve suffered with quite bad lower back pain for years now, but for the last few months it’s been fine, the last 2 nights though I’ve had the WORST lower back pain and have only managed to get about 5 hours sleep each night. I’m exhausted. I’ve just ordered some FRER’s, they arrive tomorrow. I highly doubt I am pregnant but if I’m not I’ll A) take Ibuprofen to try and ease this awful back pain so I can try and sleep and B) if that doesn’t work have a red bull or Monster energy drink during the day to keep me awake!

It’s DH’s birthday on Friday too so I’d love to be able to give him a positive test result but also, if I’m not pregnant, will have a few glasses of wine with him Friday to celebrate his birthday. I think I’ll test Thursday, which will be 4 days before AF is due!

God, I’m already sucked into all of this and I’ve never been maternal or wanted kids! Since a couple of weeks ago when we first started TTC it’s all I seem to think about and all I want. I really think I have undiagnosed endometriosis though so some days I’m really not hopeful of it happening.

God, sorry for the ramble! Best of luck to everyone else Smile

PowerOfFlowers · 03/11/2020 11:24

Welcome @SweetShopSurprise 😀
I'm in the same boat as you - AF due do arrive 9th/10th too! It'll be a lovely present to give to your DH if positive! But if not, then you can enjoy some wine for his birthday and then test again next week it hasn't arrived yet and then focus on a brand new cycleSmile
I hear you re never being maternal but now you're ttc its all you think about - I am exactly the same!! In my 20s I said I never wanted children but that all changed when I met my DP! Something just clicked in me!
Sorry to hear about your back. Can heat packs help at all?

jessi60 · 03/11/2020 11:48

Hi @SweetShopSurprise

It’s so exciting isn’t it when to start. You never know you could be lucky straight away, hopefully you are!! I was the same as you, wanted a relaxed approach to things and then two weeks into this month I was on here reading different things and found myself using the ovulation tests haha. Only the cheapies for now. Will upgrade to the fancy clear blue one in the next month if I feel like I’m not getting anywhere.

Symptoms are the worst. I find the more you read on here it psychologically has an impact on you and makes you feel like you have them when in fact you don’t 😂 I kept reading people say some women need to wee more and wake up in the night for the toilet when you don’t normally do so. So there’s me wake up in the night for the toilet. Convinced I planted that one in my head!! X

DrS44 · 03/11/2020 12:08

Hi all, I accidentally wrote on another thread yesterday but this is what I meant to write on! Not sure how that happened!

But anyway I stopped my pill too a few weeks ago, had the withdrawal bleed 22-25 and started to use some OPKs a week or so later (but not consistently). I’ve not seen any smiley faces yet, so I’m a little worried I won’t ovulate! I’m hoping I’ve just missed the peak maybe? We’ve been doing the BD lots (great fun 😂) and now I’m feeling I’ve got lots of weird symptoms?

Since the weekend I’ve not felt very hungry, like quite sickly. Woke up Sunday and felt super nauseous, this is coming and going. Today I’ve woken up and have dull cramps? So I’m wondering whether I’m ovulating (OPK says no) or if natural period is coming? I could hardly be pregnant this quickly??
It’s so funny isn’t it? Spend your whole life not wanting to get pregnant then suddenly it’s urgent 😂

Thanks in advance girls
Ps. Is anyone else finding it hard to concentrate on other things? Honestly it’s consuming me which can’t be good 😂

jessi60 · 03/11/2020 12:36

@DrS44 Hi I’m similar to you. I had implant removed on the 23rd September. Had a withdrawal bleed and nothing since. I’ve been using the pre mom app and I put the withdrawal bleed in as a period (even though I know it isn’t) just so I can have something to calculate it off. It been me down as 28 day cycle as that’s the average (even though this could be incorrect) so if it’s right I would be 10dpo. I did one of the 6 days early pregnancy tests and it’s negative so don’t think I’ve been lucky this first month. But I’m the same as you, who knows if i actually ovulated? Will probably get a better idea when I get period so I know how long my cycles are. I’ve been done the cheap ovulation tests daily and they all have been low so far Xx

DrS44 · 03/11/2020 12:49

@jessi60 so I’m only a few weeks in and you’re a month in is that right?
Ya I’ve done the same and according to the app I should be ovulating now! Who actually knows what’s going on - that’s the most frustrating thing! I can see why they suggest to wait til your first natural period now but I’m far too impatient for that! I’ve ordered some early tests just in case! It’s just the cramps etc are so strange? Especially if I’m not ovulating? At least if we knew we were ovulating you’d feel like you have a better shot 🤷🏼‍♀️ Did you get any symptoms when you tried the test? I think I need to be more consistent with OPKs- what time of day should you do them? And does the intensity of the line mean it’s coming or mean anything? Xxx

AMS19 · 03/11/2020 12:53

Welcome @DrS44 and @SweetShopSurprise

Most of us are in our first cycle. I'm in my first proper cycle, not including the one from withdrawal bleed to proper period! 8DPO for me. I BBT and OPK track so know the exact time I ovulated 😂😂😂

I would definitely recommend doing some tracking at the start. You can always stop once you've made the apps more specific to you - they won't be reliable until you know exactly when you ovulate

AMS19 · 03/11/2020 12:54

@GreenApplesYo remind me when you tested for the first time? I'm already caving...😂😂

sophia0 · 03/11/2020 12:55

Hi all I'm in similar position as well. I took my last pill 30th September and still waiting for af anyone know when you can test if you havent have a proper period?

DrS44 · 03/11/2020 12:56

@AMS19 ok that’s great thanks! How long was your cycle after the withdrawal bleed? Just curious how mine will work! Yes need to be more consistent with testing so I can get a clearer idea xxx

DrS44 · 03/11/2020 12:59

@sophia0 surely you would be due it by now or very soon ? No harm in testing I would say? I have read that cycles can be very long after the pill though? Have you used OPKs?

jessi60 · 03/11/2020 13:00

Well I’m abit complicated in that I had my implant out on the 23rd September but then started the pill the next day. I took it for 12 days and then stopped the pill cause I was getting horrendous side effects. So I’ve been off hormonal contraception since 5th October so that’s only 23 days so don’t know why I’m expecting everything to happen so quickly 😂 I got my withdrawal bleed 5 days later on the 10th. That lasted around 4-5 days and then I’ve had nothing since.

Kind of did the test more out of curiosity but my boobs are so sore today and I’ve never had this before, some slight cramping and I’ve just tried to eat and couldn’t cause I feel sickly. But it’s probably all in my head 😂

I think your best doing the ovulation tests in the afternoon rather than first thing in the morning. What I believe is that the line goes darker as you approach ovulation and you should get a peak result and you then should ovulation 12-24 hours after that. I imagine the clear blue test is more reliable and accurate to off though Xxx
