Hello!

Im in my first month of trying with my partner of 12 years. With wedding plans up in the air due to covid we decided we didn’t want to put our lives on hold any more so here we are!

I came off the pill, had my withdrawal bleed and now in the two week wait until next week when I can test.

I guess I just wanted to come on here and see if anyone else is new to trying too. Or people who can give light in how long it took them to conceive after coming off the pill.

We haven’t told no one we’re trying so I feel like I haven’t got no one to talk too about it all. Trying to stay positive and would love to have a happy ending to 2020.

Sending baby dust to you all xxx

@GreenApplesYo that’s a decent line..! Eek very (cautiously) excited for you.

@AMS19 that is very unfair. I stayed really controlled on a big day yesterday, was sober by time I went to bed and ended up awake from 2.30-5am and may as well have just had a couple of bottles the way I felt this morning 😂 so I feel you!

AMS19 · 01/11/2020 10:13

@cardioqueen why do we not get rewarded for being well behaved! Oh well...I'm off to a spa and I'm going to be in a stream room for an hour. Knowing my luck I'll end up passing out 😂😂 i refuse to put my life on hold when I dont know I am actually pregnant and we are about to go into another national lockdown in 3 days!

PowerOfFlowers · 01/11/2020 13:40

That is a strong line @GreenApplesYo - very excited and very happy for you!! Have you been on furlough since March? That must be tough.

Have a lovely time in the spa @AMS19 - make the most of it whilst we still can with this looming lockdown! Annoying about your weird hangover, plenty of water for you.

I hate it when that happens @CardioQueen - especially if you didn't drink much and still woke up in the middle of the night. Hopefully you'll get a better sleep tonight.

I shared a bottle of red with my DP last night and had 3 cocktails before dinner (spread out between 5.30pm and 10pm) and I felt quite drunk. I don't drink much anymore either so it goes to my head very quickly. I'm a bit fuzzy today but I've just been for a walk (to the shop for Sunday roast stuff).

GreenApplesYo · 01/11/2020 17:51

Thanks @PowerOfFlowers 🙂yes, on furlough since March. I enjoyed the summer, but was looking forward to going back to work... On the plus side I might not have to explain why I've given up coffee for a few more weeks haha! Had furlough confirmed for another week, not sure what will happen after that. Oh well!

I quite often wake up in the night if I've had a drink. Think it's because of a drop in blood sugar?

How was the spa @AMS19 no fainting hopefully 🙂

Went for a walk this morning and then fell asleep on the sofa for 2hrs. Had a dream I got a toilet seat stuck around my chest hahaha

AMS19 · 01/11/2020 18:22

@GreenApplesYo diaster! I pretty much passed out, collapsed onto the floor. So what was meant to be a 55min experience I was in for all of 4 minutes 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ something isn't right. But the massage was amazing. I cant believe I joked I would pass out then basically did...what a weekend. Roll on lockdown 😂😂😂

GreenApplesYo · 02/11/2020 09:16

Morning 🙂 how is everyone doing?

Urk @AMS19 that's awkward! Are you 7dpo now? Hehe hopefully the fainting and the bad reaction to alcohol is your body trying to give you a message.

CardioQueen · 02/11/2020 10:02

@AMS19 oh no this doesn’t sound relaxing at all? How are you feeling now?

@GreenApplesYo how many days DPO are you now?

GreenApplesYo · 02/11/2020 10:18

Hey @CardioQueen I am 13dpo. Almost 4 weeks pregnant! Might have mentioned this already, but the due date would be around July 14th. If all goes well over the next few days, I will self-refer to the midwife on Friday and see about getting a flu jab as well. 12 weeks will be 29th Dec, but I am hoping I can get a scan in the week before Xmas? Not sure if they do them at 11wks, but that would be perfect. Really hope I get to 12 weeks without any problems... I think 75% pregnancies get to 12wks OK. Still can't quite believe it. Its been a really bloody long 2 weeks.

PowerOfFlowers · 02/11/2020 10:28

Hello!
Oh no @AMS19 Hope you're feeling ok today. It could be your body trying to tell you something.
Nice one @GreenApplesYo - 4 weeks already! So exciting!
My breasts are tender today, low in energy and a I'm a bit sensitive. It is day 28 of my cycle though with AF expected in 7 days so it is to be expected. I tested this morning but negative and I was expecting that. Won't do again now until Thursday (again, I SAY that... 🤣)
I'm weirdly excited about starting a new cycle. I now have so much more knowledge about ovulation and getting pregnant (thanks to you lovely ladies!) that I want to just get on with it and test it all out 😄

AMS19 · 02/11/2020 10:32

Honestly @GreenApplesYo @CardioQueen you couldn't make it up 🤣🤣 the thing is im super sensitive to progesterone. I couldn't take the normal pill and had to have a low dose version. So my body could just could be reacting to the hormones rather than a pregnancy.
Yeo 7DPO. Only another 10 days until AF is due...🤦‍♀️😭🤷‍♀️

@greenapplesyo that is super exciting about the dates. The NHS scan is usually around 12 weeks but given you're so close might be before?! Our plan is to do a private scan at 10 weeks so my husband can come then do the NHS one at 12 weeks. So if we are lucky this month I'll time the private one just before Xmas so we know all is good and the NHS one will just be more of a formality. I'll have to tell my family over Xmas, it will be so obvious if I'm not drinking!

AMS19 · 02/11/2020 10:33

@PowerOfFlowers you've still got a great shot, way too early to be worrying about tests. But 100% the right way to look at it, do the testing and charting and it all becomes quite fun! Comparing notes etc. So if it isnt your month onwards to the next one ❤

CardioQueen · 02/11/2020 10:37

@GreenApplesYo oh wow it’s nearly 4 weeks already! Yes agree that would be ideal re the scan. Here they do them between 11-14 weeks I think, but def something that varies a bit country to country (and maybe even clinic to clinic). Think you’re right with those stats too.

@PowerOfFlowers I understand, I am very excited to be in a new cycle now. Especially now AF is on her way out. Never going to be excited about that part really other than knowing it’s all still working properly 😂

positivitytree2020 · 02/11/2020 10:53

Does anyone have any advice as to when I should take a test?
I was using the Clue App to track my cycle - so I came off pill, had withdrawal bleed, got first AF 29 days after coming pill. So the App is using this information so set my “ovulation date”.

Based off this, I am now only 6 DPO.
But I didn’t use OPK this cycle to confirm, so what if the predicted date was wrong and it was actually earlier? Or what if it hasn’t even happened yet? (App is now assuming every cycle will be 29 days just coz my first one was).

We’ve DTD every 2nd day since start of cycle, and then every day of predicted fertile period! But don’t feel any different unfortunately! 😢

Raging I didn’t use OPK coz I now have no idea when to test or where I’m actually at in cycle! 😂

AMS19 · 02/11/2020 11:45

@positivitytree2020 so hard to say if you're not sure on O day, maybe Sunday?! Im 7DPO and not testing until next week. Definitely test once the 29 days has passed. My 28 day cycle is only based off my withdrawal bleed one too!

GreenApplesYo · 02/11/2020 12:00

Hey @positivitytree2020 did you notice any EWCM at all this cycle? 🙂6dpo would be too early to test anyway. So probably worth waiting a few days. Do you think you will use OPKs next cycle if you get AF this cycle?

@AMS19 it's good you have a plan for the scans for if you do get a BFP. Would your private scan at 10wks allow you to know the risk of Down's etc, if you decide to be tested for that?

Ooh @CardioQueen good luck for your fertile period. Do you know when you ought to ovulate this cycle?

@PowerOfFlowers yep still plenty of time this cycle for a BFP. So hard to resist poas when you know you're entering the window where it's possible a BFP will show up.

positivitytree2020 · 02/11/2020 12:30

@AMS19 I think you’re right, I’ll just wait until Day29 when I’m meant to get AF to test unless I get it before then. So annoying though, keep hoping I get some symptoms but feel the exact same as normal.

@GreenApplesYo I did notice EWCM around CD11 (didn’t notice it again at any other point), but my predicted day of ovulation was CD16, so not fully sure!
Yes definitely going to use OPK next cycle, so I can at least pinpoint where I’m at!
Didn’t use them this cycle coz I wanted to go with the flow for the first month and not be too stressed 😂 that clearly didn’t go to plan! 😂

AMS19 · 02/11/2020 12:40

@GreenApplesYo I think the private scans include everything the NHS one does 🤷‍♀️ either way we will get all the tests we can

@positivitytree2020 yeah I think i would be more stressed not knowing if I ovulated and when! I dont get enough symptoms to be sure without the OPKs and BBT tracking!

CardioQueen · 02/11/2020 19:56

@positivitytree2020 yes I would test after the 29 days has passed. Are you charting BBT this month at all?

@GreenApplesYo it looks like (from the cycle between withdrawal bleed and first natural, and then the recent mega-cycle of 57 days) that I’ll ovulate around CD 26/27. My cycles are 37 days and LP seems quite short at 10-11 days. I’ll start using the OPKs way before that though, just in case it’s a bit earlier now things have settled down. 27 days is ages to wait for a peak!

AMS19 · 02/11/2020 20:17

@CardioQueen apparently vitamin B6 and B12 are good for extending LP. I haven't tried it, some other really helpful girls on here shares about it!

jessi60 · 02/11/2020 20:24

Hi everyone.
Been reading through all of this thread.
I’m in my first month also. Had my implant removed on the 23rd September. I’ve had a withdrawal bleed and nothing since. No symptoms either.

Probably give it a couple of day’s and then maybe do a test. Not holding out hope for this first month cause I don’t even know if I’ve ovulated.

I’ve started using the ovulation sticks and scanning them into the app for now Xxx

AMS19 · 02/11/2020 20:27

Hey @jessi60 the wait for the first proper period is the longest. I was super lucky and mine was only 28 days, but fully expected it to take weeks. Just be as patient as you can be...you will get there. Defo start OPK testing so you can see what is going to, and pregnancy testing too! Exciting

jessi60 · 02/11/2020 20:30

Yeah, if my cycle is 28 days then I should get a period around the 7th November. But don’t know if i will work out that lucky or not!

Just cleared the whole shelf of ovulation test strips in wilko my boyfriend was mortified and said I couldn’t take them all hahaha well you do only get 5 in a pack! Xx

AMS19 · 02/11/2020 20:38

Ha brilliant @jessi60 I would definitely recommend premom for OPK scanning. Fertility friend is the best for BBT charting (and you can record your OPK result in there). Fingers crossed for AF on 7th 🤞🤞

jessi60 · 02/11/2020 20:40

Yeah I’ve got the Premom one and putting them
In there. Just been getting low readings and some at 0! Should I be testing more than once a day? @AMS19

AMS19 · 02/11/2020 20:45

Don't worry i mainly got zeros too. Here is my tests. Once a day is fine, but the minute you see anything test 2 or 3 times. You will see from mine I peaked so quickly, and with in a few hours it was gone!
