@GreenApplesYo I don't even know when AF is due! I ovulated on CD 15 this cycle and I'm really really hoping that I don't have another 23 day cycle because I'm already taking vitamins and I have no idea how else I'd fix a very short luteal phase without seeing a doctor. Once I'm past CD 24, then CD 25, then CD 26 I'll probably start to feel a little better. Plus my bbt chart doesn't fill me with much hope Sad

Welcome @Aila1994, I thought the exact same thing! Never been on any form of birth control, only pullout method with all my sexual partners and not a single accident - always had me wondering if it was skill or luck or something worse...
But fingers crossed to you! I'm sure we'll be fine Grin

EllyNC · 18/11/2020 10:36

Ahh ok! I did manage to do one yesterday and it was definitely Lighter, then lighter again this morning. So maybe I’ll go for another day or two to check it doesn’t shoot up again!

@Emz1995 🤞🏻 Your temp stays up!!

AKC88 · 18/11/2020 11:24

@HerringGull I did think it was definitely excessive in covid times! Haha I know me too, squeeze as many as you could into a car lol, yeah we got an SUV type thing and I had a dream that we bought it and then we had twins and still didn’t have a big enough car lol!

Elly, no I didn’t, I had planned to but we moved house last minute so it all became too stressful so hoping it all falls into place this time.

@GreenApplesYo no not yet, she said she would book me in yesterday when she went back to her office and I would get a letter with a date. Oh yes my friend used them with all three of her pregnancies, swore by them!

Welcome @Aila1994 and @Emz1995

HerringGull · 18/11/2020 11:46

Does anyone fancy posting their BBT chart? I'd be interested to see what other people's are like since this is my first full cycle doing temps.

Wouldn't worry about not getting pregnant using the timing method, it's hard enough to get pregnant when you're really trying to! Reckon it's pretty unlikely to happy if you know what you're doing with the timing and you're trying to avoid it xx

GreenApplesYo · 18/11/2020 13:11

Hey @HerringGull here's mine.

@unCliche ahh I forgot you had a short LP last time. Hope the vitamins help. What's happening with your BBT chart?

2DPO - Anyone with me....!
unCliche · 18/11/2020 13:51

@GreenApplesYo @HerringGull here's my chart which never seems to make sense. Completely different to last months and it looks like temps rose more before ovulation than after 🤷‍♀️ not too pleased that my temps aren't much higher than pre-O temps either.

GreenApples your chart really is the model chart 😁

AlisonWhite · 18/11/2020 14:28

I just read that basal temp stays up until period or if pregnant. So is it just for ovulation tracking we look at it? Xxx

HerringGull · 18/11/2020 14:49

Alison, yep basically. It won't tell you if you're pregnant sooner than a pregnancy test will, so not much good for that as far as I know. I think there are some things that may indicate pregnancy (for eg Google triphasic BBT chart) but they can happen in non-pregnancy cycles too so maybe a red herring!

@unCliche your chart is so smooooth in the follicular phase. Mine is zigging all over the place, hmmm. I'm finding it kinda frustrating that one temp doesn't tell you much but it's the whole pattern really, so you have to wait days and then look back at it!

AlisonWhite · 18/11/2020 15:07

Thanks @HerringGull

unCliche · 18/11/2020 15:22

@HerringGull let's see your chart. You are right though, it is all about the pattern, at first glance, you'd think I ovulated on CD9.
But zig-zagging is just as normal as long as there's a clear temp shift. These are my favourite things to look at Grin

HerringGull · 18/11/2020 15:43

Tried to post image straight from phone but the post hasn't appeared at all - anyone know why?
Anyway, hopefully it works from laptop.

@unCliche you have opened my eyes!! Some of those charts are totally mental!

2DPO - Anyone with me....!
unCliche · 18/11/2020 16:36

@HerringGull Yours looks absolutely normal and would probably look even more normal when you have higher but zig-zaggy temps after O. I reckon in a few more days your temps will jump (or it could increase gradually like mine).

A lot of charts on the FF website are so random but they end up pregnant so as long is O is confirmed by a temp shift, you should be fine, because that's all you're pretty much looking for.

I say that... yet and I'm still very concerned about mine, ha! (Mostly because short LP and low temps could mean progesterone deficiency) But I'm feeling hopeful this month either way! No sore boobs yet wooo!

HerringGull · 18/11/2020 17:13

@unCliche yay for no sore boobs! You're only 5 dpo though, plenty of time for them to strike Grin
I've no idea about progesterone deficiency, but since you can get it supplemented, at least it should hopefully be relatively easy to fix if you do have that problem?

Emz1995 · 18/11/2020 17:22

When do symptoms usually start? I’m now 3DPO but wondering when I should be starting to notice if anything happens?

HerringGull · 18/11/2020 17:28

@Emz1995 can of worms there! Technically, since implantation doesn't occur until 6 dpo at the absolutely earliest (and 9 dpo is the most common day) then there is no way you could feel anything before maybe 7 dpo I guess? You need time for the HCG to rise and start making you feel rubbish.
However, there seems to be loads of women who did experience symptoms earlier than that, and I mean symptoms that were not normal for them on a non-pregnancy cycle.
So I guess the jury's out! hahaha

Emz1995 · 18/11/2020 17:33

Thank you @HerringGull! So would you not recommend testing until around 12dpo at the earliest?

unCliche · 18/11/2020 18:37

@HerringGull with a 9 day LP, at 5DPO I'm already over halfway through it 😂
Do you know if you've ovulated yet? You did a good job of DTD every other day though! This month we got down to business on CD8, 11, 12, 13 and then called it a day 😂😂

@Emz1995 12 DPO is a good day to wait until because you'll probably get a reasonable accurate result, although not always as some people implant on 12 DPO itself.

HerringGull · 18/11/2020 19:20

@unCliche hmm don't know if 9 day LP is too short. Is it like that every month? Maybe best to ask GP if so and they can do blood tests in your luteal phase I think? Not sure though.

I reckon 12dpo you've got a good chance of a positive with a decent early test. If you test before 14dpo though, you can pick up a chemical pregnancy which you otherwise would never know about. Depends if you think you'd like to know, or not. Also depends if you would feel less depressed seeing a negative test, or seeing AF!

HerringGull · 18/11/2020 19:21

Oops, last half of that was for @Emz1995!

Emz1995 · 18/11/2020 20:32

@HerringGull yeah think I’m going to wait as long as I possibly can to avoid disappointment from getting BFN or staring at tests for ages willing for a line!

It’s only my first cycle and I’m already driving myself mad with the waiting and wanting time to fast forward, how does everyone switch off during this time?

unCliche · 18/11/2020 20:42

@HerringGull Last cycle was the first time I'd temped a full cycle so not sure if it's normal for me yet but I didn't want to take any chances so started taking a whole bunch of vitamins but if things don't get better I'll go to a specialist.

HerringGull · 19/11/2020 08:11

@unCliche ah that seems sensible. Well I've got my fingers crossed for a BFP for you, but if not, then at least a nice long LP!

@Emz1995 no answers here! I think maybe covid makes it harder. Last time I was TTC I was able to go out, see friends, arrange to be busy during the TWW so that I had more to occupy my mind. This time, the highlight of my week is cutting my toenails...

unCliche · 19/11/2020 09:22

Good morning @HerringGull! Think I spoke too soon about sore boobs! How's your cycle going so far? Have you ovulated yet? Do you know when you're going to test?

HerringGull · 19/11/2020 11:41

@unCliche oh no! Well I guess you were expecting it... you probably would've worried if it hadn't happened Grin
Not sure if I've O'd yet. My temp went up a bit this morning, but not enough. Will see what it does tomorrow, as I think for some people it goes up in stages over a day or two instead of one massive jump in one day (I've been looking at those sample charts you showed me)! Will O on Saturday at the latest anyway, so I guess testing two weeks after that if still no AF. That's AGES away!!! Argh

Cc7750 · 19/11/2020 11:55

Hi all,

Hope everyone is well.. I’m confused as well this month, I normally have periods and ovulation at same times each month.. this month who knows, it should have been days ago but still saying negative on strips! Not over analysing it.. bodies can be odd in general! But good luck to everyone trying and hope no morning sickness for the lovely pregnant ladies x
