TTC 8 months in, still early days but starting to feel more and more every time AF arrives

Thought I'd start this post as hoping there are some lovely ladies in a similar boat to me.

DH and I are now 8 months in TTC and no luck. We both really want it to happen though he does have a son already so not always as emotional about AFs arrival every month as I am.

I know it's early days still and some have to go a lot longer but I'm now starting to get to the worried/upset stage. Get pangs of sadness when I see a baby bump or something pregnancy related in the shops, on TV or online.

Would love to hear and support others who are in the same boat as me

Hi all, mind if I join? I'm on cycle 11 trying for my first and am really getting down about it as well. I've never had a hint of a BFP and all the tests for myself and OH have come back clear (although I haven't had an hsg) so I feel a bit rudderless as I can't do anything else to improve my chances.

Just starting FW now, will confirm OD with BBT :)

Hi Juno the more the merrier. It’s good to have people to chat to who get it, although wish we weren’t in this position in the first place!

How do you find BBT tracking? Usually I only check around FW time and get a bit forgetful the rest of the time but trying to do most days this month. Fingers crossed for you this month.

@2020TTC It’s really hard isn’t it, hope you’re feeling better. We are all in the same boat & here to vent ❤️ It’s so frustrating hearing about those not trying falling pregnant when you do everything right! 😔

I’m at the same stage as you! 8 dpo today.. I’ve attached a photo of my drawer 😂😂 not going to test until the weekend but don’t feel any different so far. When do you think you will test?

@CausingChaos2 that totally makes sense! Seeing a BFN is worse than seeing AF sometimes isn’t it? I’ll do a test on Saturday at 11dpo but just know what I’ll see ☹️ Almost feel used to it now!! When is AF due for you? Mine is a week Saturday.

Know what you mean about the result, I genuinely can’t imagine seeing a positive test now. I’m due on Sunday-ish. Cycles vary between 23-27 days so can never be sure exactly when. Hope you can keep busy, always easier when you’re on the one week countdown I find!

@CausingChaos2 I love bbt to be honest. I find that I ovulate at a slightly different CD each cycle so it's been super helpful to pin point OD and it takes the guess work away from the OPKs.

@Juno231 welcome to this lovely thread although sad we are all still waiting for our BFPs! I think most of us are trying for our first. If only we knew before we started how tough it would be! Maybe this is your lucky month 🥰

@CausingChaos2 bless my hubby, last month he spent £50 on these from ebay to have them ready for testing. Must be faulty though because I’ve had no positive yet 🤪
When I had my chemical in sept, we saw the two lines and were literally jumping for joy together.. then a week later it was alllll gone 😔 that’s good that you have short cycles so less waiting time? Hopefully by Monday we will know what our date is 🤞🏼🤞🏼 Really hope it’s good news! 🤞🏼❤️

@sparkylauz well she clearly doesn't know when her clients are pregnant! And although I'm sure she's being nice that could really upset someone too.
@MJM1608 I've seen another one this evening. She's very young and I am not being funny about that at all, but it feels so unfair. You have a few days yet, I hope it's your month x

Oh I'm sorry, its so tough especially at the moment there are so many pregnancies and you can't help but think, why not me? It's rubbish and I hope your feeling better.
Sending lots of baby dust to you! I would leave the testing a few days yet but that's up to you of course, I know it's so tempting.
@CausingChaos2 you've hit the nail on the head there about testing! I was doing it early, and the negative was way harder to take than even AF. But I also found if I tested early I still had hope. I'd just think 'I'm not out till AF comes' and come on here and read things of those who had negatives then got a positive days later. I'd then still be crushed when AF came, even though I knew! It just made the disappointment last longer. I have got myself out of the habit now, but it's hard!

@Juno231 welcome! I am a cycle behind you. It's rubbish isn't it. I've never had any sign of a BFP either. I have sat and squinted at the sticks trying to see a faint one but nope! 😂 Can't imagine actually seeing two lines. We will get there!

@MJM1608 wow that drawer! I have one of those I've had for months and have somehow saved it 😂 I have a couple of cheap ones left, I used to go through loads of them but I'm now trying to keep them for if AF actually comes late, used to try and tell myself maybe the cheapies were wrong due to being cheap when I got negative 😂

I’m 9dpo today... feel like I’ve been hit by a bus & feels like I have a temp... probably caught COVID rather than a pregnancy symptom 🙃🙃 the end of the TWW is so nervewracking lol! Xxx

So sorry I’ve been MIA, I always find AF so boring and it tends to be the only time I don’t think about a baby!! How are you all getting on? I see most of you are coming to the end of your TWW ahhhhh, exciting!!! 😍 someone set this thread off with the luck we need 🥰

DH has got to have a tooth out in a few weeks, so we won’t actively be trying this month, but I will keep checking in with you all ☺️ Unfortunately his apt is right around OV day - typical haha!! Xxx

@Izzie94 hi - I see you started TTC in Jan as well so we're around the same cycle :) For my understanding, how is the tooth affecting the DTD?From a pain POV or is he on antibiotics or something?

@Juno231 hello! since you take your BBT, I was wondering if you can take your regular temp or if it’s purely for TTC? I’ve got a BBT thermometer but don’t use it, feels like I’ve got a temp & used the therm at 8.30am (after I was up) and it said “high” does that mean anything or invalid as it’s not the way to use it? Sorry if it’s a daft question! 9 dpo today, feeling weird! Thanks 😊 xxx

@CausingChaos2 yeah I tend to ov either day 14 or 15 each month after tracking it for how ever many months I think I'm confident knowing now which days are the most fertile. Will see how it goes though 😂

Welcome back @Izzie94 Wondered where you had disappeared off to! Totally get what you mean about AF and the lead up to Ov, that's the easiest time of the month for sure.

@MJM1608 that is a lot of tests haha! I just buy one pack a month usually after AF as I keep in the mindset that i wont need anymore after this month😂 theyre £5 for a pack of 2 tests on amazon. Thats where ive been getting them from. Is that expensive or is that what you pay?

Also if you have a normal thermometer for taking your temp and it said 'high' then it doesn't mean its faulty it means its too high, we use these ones at work as have to monitor our temps before starting the job and if any of us flashed up 'high' we would have to go straight home and have a covid test before we can go back into work. Have you taken your temp again since this morning? I hope you arnt coming down with anything 😰

@Juno231 hey lovely. I did yes!! It feels like a lifetime ago now, and I can’t ever imagine a BFP! I’m sure you feel the same 😅 just a pain POV! I’m sure it’ll only kick us out by a few days - I’ll have to just get him to lay there 😂😂 well defo DTD the night before and then as soon as we can after. I won’t do OPKS this month. Hopefully it may help 😌 where abouts are you in your cycle?

@MJM1608 how have you resisted the urge to test yet with all those test!!!! I’m feeling excited for you- keep checking to see if you’ve done one 😍 I legit just wrote this out then remembered you’re only 9DPO, actually feeling unwell can be a good thing! Your immune system can drop to accept the baby🥰 ahhhh imagine!!! I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you. That would be the perfect Christmas present xxxx

Ah twins imagine, do they run in your family? I’d be so scared of having twins, but I’m sure it’s not as hard as it seems 😳😂 xx

@Izzie94 they do actually run in the family! In both our families! So there is a good chance for me 😂 I think the thing that would scare me the most is how bloody big would the belly get carrying 2! 😢 I'm only a little myself 😂

@MJM1608 yes my first, just feels like my life now, ovulation, TWW, crying when AF comes 😂 then do it all again. Well your symptoms could mean something! I seem to get different every month so I never have a clue 😂

Ah typical about the dentist app, my DH decided to give up smoking a few months back on the weekend of ovulation (didn't realise it was then when he set the day in his mind). I was fuming it was right on the days as I knew he'd be in an awful mood and would not want to do anything 😂 made me feel crazy how annoyed I felt.

@MJM1608 you can def use a bbt thermometer as a normal thermometer - the only difference really is that it has once extra decimal for more accuracy. No idea what high means though, that will be specific to your thermometer as mine just show numbers really!

@Izzie94 ah gotcha! hopefully you catch it anyway. And if not then you've dodged an August baby at least :D always a silver lining somewhere lol. I'm on CD10 so just started my FW. I normally ovulate anywhere from CD12 to CD17 so will just be DTD every other day until an OPK tells me to throw an extra one in. Tbh though I've ovulated the same day as my LH peak for like the last 3 cycles so it doesn't even give me a heads up anymore!

It is hard Lovebug06 but not a good habit - for me anyway. Agree that a negative is harder than AF too.

SparkyLauz Good that you’re regular enough to know when Ov is. I’m tempted to not use OPKs this month and take a bit of pressure off. Hoping you get your BFP with twins very soon!

Btw I'm def an early tester as I find the negatives easier than AF. If I test on 10, 11, 12 dpo I sort of ease myself into a BFN whereas when I try to hold off I convince myself I am totally preggers and then when AF shows I'm crushed.

I think even if I got my BFP Id need to take a good few to believe it 😂 I don’t have a normal thermometer, just the BBT one! Feel better now anyway so I’m sure it was nothing! @Lovebug06 can relate to this so much!! DTD until you’re sick of it too!! It’s such a struggle mentally, I’m quite strong minded but this has given me anxiety I’ve never felt before! Tbh I usually convince myself I’ve got symptoms that probably don’t exist 😂😂 why didn’t anyone tell us before TTC how stressful it was?? 😂

@CausingChaos2 I know he’s a darling.. except when he tries to understand this TTC business and doesn’t get the emotions involved! 😂 Hope some good news for us!! 🤞🏼 How you feeling? I took the chemical surprisingly well but it’s stepped up my anxiety to another level - would always be nervous of bleeding again, life is so cruel!! Doesn’t the time pass soooo slowly when TTC!! Days are so long!!! Xxxx

10 dpo - did a FRER, can see a vvvv faint line that I’ve never seen before (except my CP) 🤞🏼 DH can’t see it so I’m probably imagining it but still early days so there’s a tiny bit of hope!! Will keep you ladies updated and HOPE SO MUCH a proper line comes 😭🤞🏼❤️ That or it’s an indent 🥴
