TTC 8 months in, still early days but starting to feel more and more every time AF arrives

Thought I'd start this post as hoping there are some lovely ladies in a similar boat to me.

DH and I are now 8 months in TTC and no luck. We both really want it to happen though he does have a son already so not always as emotional about AFs arrival every month as I am.

I know it's early days still and some have to go a lot longer but I'm now starting to get to the worried/upset stage. Get pangs of sadness when I see a baby bump or something pregnancy related in the shops, on TV or online.

Would love to hear and support others who are in the same boat as me

@MJM1608 It was so lovely - glad you had a ‘normal’ wedding, I think weddings will be affected for even 2021, maybe 2022 is more clear for now.. I’m on CD16 now and normally use to be quite simple on 26-28 days but some are reaching 30 days now so we shall see.. What CD are you? I never really use acronyms (getting use to them!) so I got my positive OPK on 27th, so does this mean roughly Ov was 28th, meaning I’m now 1DPO? I have no clue! Only been two months so just waited for AF each time even though I really wanted to test! Who knows what’ll happen this month.. ✨ Hopefully it’ll be both our months🤞🏼 🥰 x

@Izzie94 Thank you! It was pretty perfect, wouldn’t have had it any other way now I think about what we were going to do. I definitly ovulated later by two days as well so it was good to use to see how it differed. Will use again next month (here’s hoping I don’t have to!) to see if it’s the same again roughly. ✨ Wishing us both luck!! 🥰

@MJM1608 hope your okay it can be tough. My friend has several family members and a colleague all pregnant since she's being trying and she's finding it really hard.

@2020TTC I know can’t see big weddings happening for a while! Such a shame! So the two week wait begins 🤞🏼! I usually count 1DPO as the day after my peak ovulation test but could be wrong 🤔 I think I’m around 3dpo today, or could be 1dpo going by my below scenario! We can stay strong for the next 2 weeks together!! ✨ well done having the willpower to wait for AF, I’m planning to do that this month but will see 😂 Hope it’s a lucky month!! 🤞🏼

@Lovebug06 thank you!! I’m usually quite tough (never cry) and positive, but think that news hit me hard because I thought it would be me telling her I was pregnant and asking about mat leave! Reminds me I have no news yet 🙃 soon though hopefully....!

Had a weird one this month! I use CB advanced digital OPKs and had a static smiley on Tuesday, DTD, then Thursday I had EWCM still & so tested again... got another static smiley!! So confused when I ovulated & what that means, maybe it picked up two surges, maybe I failed ovulation the first time; who knows! Hopefully managed to catch it DTD 4 times this week 😴

Hi lovely ladies hope you are all OK, still waiting for my static smiley lol, think it will be tomorrow! DTD plenty of times this week and will continue through to early next week, feeling positive November is thee month.

Thank you girls 🤍 really appreciate it 😌 as I told a close friend of mine who got pregnant first month and her response was “you’re stressing too much.” Yeah thank you hun🤣 I’m feeling much better this morning already. Another new month to try again ✨ 10 months, and technically only 10 goes, so here’s to lucky 11!! I always say 13 is my lucky number so maybe a few more to go haha. We always wanted a winter baby so maybe that’s what it’s waiting for 😌

It seems you girls are on the better side of your cycle at the moment, I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you all. We need some BFPs in here! 😍

@MJM1608 I’d say you didn’t ovulate first time, geared up, didn’t, and then did ✨ eeee fingers crossed 🤞🏼 4 times in the week, ahhh, rest time 😂

Don’t you all wish you just knew how long it would take? Like I wouldn’t mind if it took 2 years if someone said, you will be pregnant exactly on this date!! 😅 xxx

@Izzie94 here’s to lucky no.11!! Hope you’re feeling better today, fresh start 💖 (doesn’t make it any easier!). Friends can be so insensitive - my friend said “you didn’t have booze at the weekend, you’re deffo pregnant”.. then when I said I’m not she said “try not to stress”... she got pregnant after 5 months so don’t think she fully appreciates the longer it goes on, the harder it is. Some good news before Christmas would be amazing ✨ would LOVE to see into the future for when we get a BFP😂 if only life was that simple!! xxxxx

@MJM1608 it is tough when others ar pregnant when you thought it would be you by now. I'm the same. And there seems to be so many pregnancies atm. We will get there though ❤️
@Izzie94 sorry to hear you got AF. ahh I hate the 'don't stress' or 'you need to relax' so easy to say, especially by someone who got pregnant straight away 😂

I am only cd9, and I have ewcm. That was a shock today. It has happened before when I was testing but not for a few months. I'm not testing but I best get on it tonight 😂 I have read it isn't good though but trying not to worry about that.

@MJM1608 hi! I got a static smiley this morning but I've been really lacking with the opk this month which is good in a way cause I havent been obsessing I did an opk Thurs then Friday I only had 1 stick left so I thought I'd use it Sunday but I forgot so I used the last one this morning. So really I could have missed the peak but we dtd Saturday and will try do it tonight 😂

I've never tested again the day after the first smiley when I use the OPK as it says you don't need to, but curious now if I would have had the smiley on Saturday, would I have it Sunday and today too or do the levels drop again as soon as you've ovulation? Xx

Hope you girls all had a nice weekend. I certainly enjoyed myself a bit too much, but thought sod it this new lockdown is coming and my TWW is starting so I got a bit tipsy.

Totally haaaate it when people notice if you arnt drinking they instantly presume its because your pregnant, so I think it will be hard to hide it from friends for 12 weeks once I get my BFP. Even my hairdresser thinks I'm pregnant because she said my hair has gone really soft and shiny, she's convinced I'm lying to her!!

Hi all, haven’t posted on this thread before but r.e. the question about testing after the static smiley - once I get a static on CB I keep testing with OPKs and the surge lasts for two days. So two days of positive OPKs.

We are coming to the end of cycle 8 of actively trying, but have been ‘seeing what happens’ for longer. I know AF is coming as my BBT temp has been dropping.

I’d love to know why we don’t conceive when we do everything right with timings etc. Makes me wonder if there is something medical going wrong but the thought of going down the route of investigations puts me off. I know last month I didn’t ovulate according to BBT temps.

Hope we all have lovely surprises in time for Christmas.

@Lovebug06 literally EVERYONE is pregnant right now lol! wish we could look into the future and see when our BFP will come! Just have to be positive & patient until then! :) Are you ovulating today then?

@SparkyLauz That's fab you got your static smiley - woo! I was the same as you, took a chilled approach & didn't test until CD13 then thankfully got my smiley (else would have missed it!). Must be a sign for us surely?? Hehe! Since clear blue tell you not to test after your static smiley, it must mean your surge is still high 1/2 days after. I've never done it before either, don't know what made me do it this month!

Glad you had a good drink at the weekend - why not!! Got to enjoy yourselves still while we can. I find it so rude when people ask if you're pregnant, they don't know the struggles people can face & it's really insensitive! Drives me mad!

@CausingChaos2 Hello & welcome! Thank you for that - I don't usually test again but had lots of EWCM so tested again 2 days later, it makes sense that the surge lasts two days! Hopefully AF doesn't arrive for you! I am coming to the end of cycle 8 too. How many dpo are you? We are at similar stages, I am 7 dpo today.

It's really hard the 'unknown'. I keep thinking about girls my friends know who have really unhealthy lifestyles & have fallen pregnant by mistake, and it can get you quite frustrated! I eat well, exercise daily, take vitamins, stopped drinking, had our fertility check up = all good yet no happy news yet! Are you as bored of DTD as I am... I don't know how many months we can last!!

AF just arrived for me, bizarrely two days early which I suppose is nice as it shortens the horrible "am I aren't I". On to cycle #7 for me 😭 and starting to despair. Hoping the rest of you lovely ladies are staying positive - and for those finding it a struggle I will be having a commiseratory glass of wine for you!

Yes so true, some women seem to fall so easily. My dsis has got pregnant twice completely by accident. Just, how?! Same as you, I eat healthily, no drinking, take the right vitamins and... nothing.

So over DTD! Although I read an article saying it may be best to have sex regularly through the month to stop our bodies from treating sperm as ‘foreign invaders’ . I can’t take any more DTD!

How did you manage to just 'see what happens' for so long?! That was my intention back in April but only lasted for 2 months, I just started getting impatient so bought a few opk packs 😂. Currently on CD16 of cycle 8 ttc and no more opks left so I think I'm going to go back to the 'see what happens' approach again to keep stress at a minimum. No idea how long that will last 😂

@MJM1608 It is rude I agree! Even before I started TTC I would never ever ask a friend if I suspected they were pregnant. I'd know that they will tell me in their own time (I.e after 12 week scan) Its not something you'd admit to a group of friends if you were only a few weeks gone! But then I'd feel like my face would give me away if I was asked, I'm terrible at lying so will try to avoid social situations with drinking. (Which will be fairly easy over the next few months now haha)

@sparkylauz that must be tough! I find it tough enough people constantly asking if I am pregnant yet, let alone being convinced I am!
@MJM1608 seen another couple of scans on social media again. Im just like how? What am I doing wrong? 😂 I am fine about it atm, although envious. But when AF arrives I feel awful at how unfair it seems.
I do not do OPks anymore as I found they stressed me and dh out, but I had a lot of ewcm a couple of days ago, which has now stopped. I also have my temp done at work every day and it's dropped so I gather its done. Had cramps then too. I dtd and will do it some more this week incase but I'm sure it's done now. How are you feeling?

Yeh it was a bit embarrassing because she kept saying ' I know when my clients are pregnant I can tell by their hair straight away'! I just wanted to tell her to shut up as i was like 1dpo it's not possible right now. Like she thought I wouldn't know if I wasn't pregnant😂

Was asked by several friends AGAIN on Saturday, 'do you think you'll have kids? Are you still on the pill?' Its getting boring now. Kind of glad for a break now from everyone for a month with this new lockdown! The only people I like talking to about TTC is you guys, as we're all in the same situation, other people just don't get it at all! Rant over haha xx

@SparkyLauz I'm sooo bad at lying too, my face always gives something away!! That's why falling pregnant during the pandemic would be so ideal, much easier to hide! If it goes in to next year, I think I'll really struggle! That's so bad from your hairdresser & friends, they're lucky you didn't bite their head off - totally takes away any surprise element too which I don't know why friends ask!!

It is so nice to be on this forum where everyone is on the same wavelength & going through the same struggles. I only speak to 3 friends about TTC who felt the same as me & went through the same emotions. People who haven't started the TTC process don't really understand the anxiety around it.

@Lovebug06 the announcements are daily!! Glad you're doing well. The day AF comes is just horrific :( especially the more often it happens! Hopefully you're a few days dpo then - sounds like you're covered. Sending some positive vibes & baby dust to you! We need at least 1 BFP in this thread of lovely ladies :)!!

I am now 8dpo and feel absolutely nothing..no cramp, soreness nothing! (: The closer I get to testing (11/12dpo) the more I gear myself up for disappointment of a BFN. Will be gutted to begin cycle 9 but reeeeally trying to stay positive.. It's hard!! xxx

Sorry dropped of the radar for a bit, I know it sounds bad but i’ve had 3 pregnancies in the last week announced (one of which were our neighbours who stated they didn’t want to get pregnant) and i’ve just found it really hard. Not to be selfish but for someone not wanting to get pregnant falling so easily and all of us here struggling 😔

Anyway, we continue! I’m 7dpo and just waiting.. no symtoms, nothing so far. Have a pregnancy test just sitting there staring at me.. but I know it’s too early.

MJM1608 A bit radical but I’ve stopped doing early tests. I’d rather have AF turn up. When I was testing and getting a negative it was in my mind that some women don’t get a positive until after AF is late, so the hope lived on. At least when AF arrives I know 100%.

What about you? You could potentially try from tomorrow/ Friday. Do you feel any symptoms?

SparkyLauz Nothing wrong with a few OPKs at least then you learn a rough idea of when you Ov. Although so much pressure to DTD when you get a pos. on them. Do you ov on the same cycle day each month?

2020TTC Don’t feel bad, it’s hard to hear when it’s something you really want. My B&SIL announced they’re expecting a few months ago when nephew was still under 1y/o. I am genuinely happy for them, but still felt sad as thought we would be next. It’s tough. Chin up and keep going. We will get there.
