TTC 8 months in, still early days but starting to feel more and more every time AF arrives

Thought I'd start this post as hoping there are some lovely ladies in a similar boat to me.

DH and I are now 8 months in TTC and no luck. We both really want it to happen though he does have a son already so not always as emotional about AFs arrival every month as I am.

I know it's early days still and some have to go a lot longer but I'm now starting to get to the worried/upset stage. Get pangs of sadness when I see a baby bump or something pregnancy related in the shops, on TV or online.

Would love to hear and support others who are in the same boat as me

Hi girls can I hop in here? I'm glad I found this because reading all your comments has made me feel so much better. Im TTC my first and on my 8th cycle now so its nice to be in a thread with girls in similar situation. Currently CD9 so predicted O this weekend I beleive. Xx

chillyfields · 27/10/2020 19:18

Thanks @Lovebug06 and @Izzie94! @MJM1608 this month I feel ... nothing. Could also be because I'm actually distracted by work (had been furloughed before which meant every TWW was killer, just pure symptom spotting). Psychologically I've given up a bit too, just feeling like I'll never get there, so I'm consoling myself with a glass of belated birthday wine. Naughty I know but I figure that even if I do get pregnant this cycle, at 5DPO there is no way it would have implanted yet.

MJM1608 · 27/10/2020 20:44

@SparkyLauz Welcome! Really lovely bunch of ladies on this thread! It gets harder as the months go on, doesn’t it! Hope you get your peak on your expected day 🤞🏼🤞🏼

@chillyfields that’s good to have that distraction!! When I was on furlough I felt time go by soooo slowly too! Belated happy birthday! Hang in there & stay positive - your time will come (hopefully this month!!) 💜 Definitely no harm having a wine that early on! Enjoy it 😄 xx

Izzie94 · 27/10/2020 20:57

@MJM1608 thanks lovely ✨ don’t ever usually test early but as it was opened, I felt an urge too 😂 will definitely wait and see if AF arrives Saturday. What CD are you now? Keeping my fingers crossed for you! 🥰 (sorry I can’t go back and check on my phone, or if I can I don’t know how without losing this 😂)

@SparkyLauz welcome ✨ really is a lovely small group. Sorry you’re welcomed to what feels like the dark side of months TTC 😅 it’s been a quick year alll things considered!! Do you use OPKS? Or just aps? FW is often my favourite. It’s when I’m definitely most positive!

@chillyfields oh absolutely treat yourself to a little vino! I definitely do of a weekend. I know what you mean, after so many months you kind of can’t believe it’ll ever happen. But it will ✨🥰 for all of us! TWW is my least favourite. I wish we could just know instantly if it’s worked or not 😂 xxx

2020TTC · 27/10/2020 23:44

Hey all, hope you don’t mind me hopping on this thread. Me and my husband recently got married (July, small covid wedding) and we had planned on moving our reception to next year but both wanted to try so we’ve cancelled that and we’re on our 3rd month TTC.

Would be lovely to follow your journeys alongside mine, i’m 26 and husband is 27. I got my first static smiley today so assume ovulation is tomorrow (if ive read that right, first month using opks) which was 2 days later than my app said which is what i’ve used the other two months.

Wishing us all luck ✨

MJM1608 · 28/10/2020 07:04

@Izzie94 it’s a reeeal struggle not to test early!! I’m going to try my hardest this month 🤞🏼😂 Hope AF doesn’t arrive 🙏🏻✨haha i know this bloody browser app, pain trying to scroll up all the time 🤣 I’ve just had my peak ovulation so 1DPO and dreading the wait already, will still DTD today and tomorrow 😂😣 Any symptoms? hope this is the month for us both!! ✨💜🙌🏼 Xxxx

@2020TTC Aww welcome! Congrats on the wedding - it’s nice that you went ahead with the wedding even though I’m sure it’s not what you planned. At the end of the day you married your love & sometimes TTC can’t wait! 🥰🥰 you’re deffo better going by OKPs than an app! Have you DTD already this week? I had my peak smiley yesterday too! We DTD two days ago, yesterday & will do today. You ovulate within 24-36 hours but it’s good to have sperm waiting for the egg if you managed to DTD a few days before your peak 😊 we can be on the TWW together! No matter how many times your period comes - whether 3 or 10.. it still sucks! Hope it’s a good month for us 🥰✨ xxxx

2020TTC · 28/10/2020 08:02

@MJM1608 Thank you! It was actually really lovely, we were the first one in our council and at the time could have 30 people and masks weren’t mandatory so have some lovely photos! I wouldn’t have had it any other way 🥰

Oh we’re basically on the same timeline then for ovulation! It was my first month so first static and I was so happy to see it 😂 Yes similar to you, we DTD sunday, missed monday as he was working nights, yesterday and will today as well ✨

Fingers crossed for us both, we can get through this TWW together 🥰💞

MJM1608 · 28/10/2020 08:22

@2020TTC Aww that sounds wonderful!! 🥰🥰 We fortunately got married last year - feel so bad for brides and grooms this year that have had to postpone 😔! Yay to being at the same stage for moral support ☺️ Seeing the peak smiley gets you so buzzing 😂 what cycle day are you on? Are you an early tester or a wait for AF kinda gal? It’s nice to have some excitement and hope in the TWW - fingers crossed for a BFP!! ✨💜🤞🏼 xxxxx

SparkyLauz · 28/10/2020 08:29

@MJM1608
@Izzie94

Thanks girls! It does seem to get harder as the months go on I agree. Everyone does seem lovely from what I've read and you wouldn't beleive how many things you've all covered which I was also thinking, which made me feel better. I'd joined previous threads and everyone is so nice, but literally seemed to be getting BFPs within a few months and couldn't really relate to any of them!

I have been using the CB OPK the one where it shows the 2 most fertile days with a smiley, I've got 3 strips left though which I will use this weekend and then I think I'm going to go cold turkey as I'm exhausted by the constant analysing of my cycles and think I'm going to try the 'letting it happen on its own' approach from next month if I get no BFP, hoping if I'm feeling more laid back it might just happen?! Who knows...

Izzie94 · 28/10/2020 08:36

@2020TTC Welcome ✨🥰 congratulations on the wedding sounds pretty perfect to me. I definitely would have used this time to get married and make it small and intimate, I was just saying that to DH a few months ago! Ah glad you got your static! I used clear blue dual this month too, and found I ovulated later than my app! Keep us posted ✨ hopefully it’s your month!! X

@MJM1608 hahaha it really is, although, I think the bfn was better than AF arriving 😂 literally my memory is so damn awful I’m like what did I say, what did they say 🤣 eeeeek 1DPO, officially my least favourite time haha!! I’m keeping everything crossed for you this cycle ✨ it knackers you out doesn’t it, we’ve had 3 days rest now and it’s been lovely 🤣 not really, literally feel the same as always 🙄 my boobs started hurting later this cycle though, and still do, but it’s probably nothing! And I did start getting really sniffly 2 days ago and then woke up yesterday and it had gone. But again, probably from walking the dog the night before 😂 ahhh I really hope it is for us both!!! 🤍 xxx

MJM1608 · 28/10/2020 08:38

@SparkyLauz I know what you mean, it can be hard seeing people fall pregnant so quickly.. I really feel like it’s just luck!! I eat well, exercise daily, take vitamins, use pre seed, OPKs, passed all fertility checks & no sign of a BFP yet 😣😂 We are here for you 🙋🏽‍♀️

I use the CB OKPs too - so good when you see that peak smile 😄 they aren’t cheap though!! People always say when they’ve relaxed more they’ve got their BFP, it’s so hard not to stress about it though. I’ve got to say I’ve taken a step back this month.. we DTD every other day & I took one OPK on CD13 (yesterday) and got my peak luckily... but usually I’ve taken 5 tests before then! As I’ve said in my posts above my doctor said he recommends monitoring CM, do you feel like you get enough EWCM during ovulation? DTD every other day should cover it aswell tbh! Hopefully this is the month though 😄💜 will be my first too.. the longer you wait, the more you want it! Hope you’re not too stressed ✨ xxxx

Izzie94 · 28/10/2020 08:39

@SparkyLauz It’s definitely nice knowing there’s other people out there that really relate to what you’re going through! As all my girls seem to fall pregnant VERY quickly in real life, so it’s lovely to come on here for support and actually feel “normal” as silly as it sounds ☺️ I love this thread as it’s not quite as busy and everyone gets replies and is involved 🥰

It do think a few months off tracking really helps you chill out a bit and look after your mental health a little bit ✨ definitely need that, create that positive vibe for a little bubba 💜 I only started tracking this month with OPKS and found it useful as I ovulate later than I thought, but not sure I’ll always do it xx

SparkyLauz · 28/10/2020 14:57

@MJM1608 im the same! I eat well/Excersize/cut down on alcohol taking folic acid etc but havrnt had any fertility tests yet, at least you know everything is all OK with you that must be reassuring. Thats my main worry but think I will leave it a few more months before going for tests.

I LOVE seeing that little smiley face haha! Its like a huge boost isn't it! I don't notice EWCM during peak, but have noticed it like the week before instead, which I find quite odd?!

@Izzie94 Yes I know what you mean, the other threads seem to go up to 1000 posts really quick and it's hard to keep track!

What CD are you girls currently on then? I'm on cd10 but weirdly been feeling exhausted this week and strange pains down there and a bit sicky, definitely not pregnant though which Is very confusing xx

MJM1608 · 28/10/2020 15:30

@Izzie94 find myself agreeing with you on every post 😂 your personality is so like mine haha, you’re so positive & encouraging - love to see it 😊✨

@SparkyLauz it almost makes it more frustrating that everything works fine but still not pregnant 😂 hopefully soon though for us both! 🤞🏼 I cut down on the booze too... not convinced it even helps!! We are both on cycle 8 - hopefully the last! The smiley deffo lifts your spirits & makes you so hopeful 😊 no harm living in a bubble for two weeks thinking this month is the month! I keep the static smiley beside my sink so that we see it for the next 2 days 😊 strange about your EWCM.. could it just be sperm from DTD? What CD do you usually ovulate, are you quite consistent every month? I’m CD14 & 1DPO (going by my peak yesterday), feeling good this month but convince myself the same every month as we all do 😂😄 xxxx

DuzzyFuck · 28/10/2020 15:55

Hi Ladies, can I join you?

We're not quite as far along as some of you yet, I'm on CD6 of our 6th cycle for number 1. We're in our late 30s so time is of the essence but haven't gone down the route of OPKs just yet. I have got a BBT thermometer for this cycle though, which I hope will reassure me that I'm actually ovulating.

Fingers crossed to everyone for this month! x

Izzie94 · 28/10/2020 17:13

@SparkyLauz I do OPKS and don’t temp, so I could be out by a day or so but I’m roughly 12DPO, CD30, of a 32 day cycle 🥰 oh hopefully you’re not coming down with anything!! It’s that horrible time of year where lots of bugs (other than covid) are running wild! 😅 how longs your cycle usually?

@MJM1608 hahaha same, everything you say I’m like yessss girl that’s me 😂 definitely have to be positive don’t we! ✨ I struggle on CD1, but soon get over it. You can’t change our journey, so there’s no time to be stressed or worried about it. 💜😊 xxx

@DuzzyFuck Welcome lovely! ✨ 6 months certainly still feels like forever doesn’t it! Hopefully it’s your 6th and final month!! Have you seen a doctor re fertility checks yet? I’m sure 35+ After 6 months you can, and it may just give you that little bit of reassurance 🥰 but let’s hope you won’t need it and this will be your last month!! How long is your cycle? Mines 32, and it honestly feels like the longesttttt ever (which it isn’t) but still 😂 xxx

DuzzyFuck · 28/10/2020 17:21

@Izzie94 No we haven't yet but if no joy by the new year then we probably will. I've had a look around and it seems we could have cursory checks done privately which might be quicker and easier than through our GP at the moment.

My cycle is usually 28/29 days and still feels like an aaaaaage. Looking forward to (assumed!) fertile window coming up as at least it brings hope, the worst bit for me is between AF and the next window when you know you're not pregnant and there's not even anything you can do about it! Hmm

Izzie94 · 28/10/2020 17:30

@DuzzyFuck private checks are really good I found! I’ve had private fertility checks done myself as I don’t meet the doctors threshold yet- but it was only £150.00! I had a scan done of my ovaries, follicles, uterus lining etc etc and blood tests!! She was so good, really explained everything - luckily everything seems as perfect as it should so it’s just a waiting game now 🥰

Oh god it literally is isn’t it, such a pointless time 😂 the TWW is a killer but there’s something about the little hope that’s inside that it could be your month ✨ fingers crossed for us all!!

chillyfields · 28/10/2020 19:54

Ooh, @Izzie94 where did you get your tests done? I was having an idle browse for some the other day as I have a constant niggling thought that there's something wrong with me or DH, but the only ones I found were £450. Seems a lot!!

MJM1608 · 28/10/2020 21:47

@chillyfields our tests were £500 which included the ovarian assessment, semen analysis & consultation with the doctor to review the results but you can get the ovarian assessment alone which I think for us was £150 too. Not a cheap route but if to can afford it, and are at your wits end with TTC then it’s an option!

@Izzie94 we are really pleased we had our assessment done for peace of mind! What was your AHM level? Just a waiting game for us now too! 🤞🏼They said that if we hit 12 months with no luck we can do a dye test that flushed your tubes to make them more accessible. How you holding up - are you going to test again? I admire your willpower!! 💜✨ got to have perspective when your TTC and think of the people who have had worse / heartbreaking journeys. Chrissy Teigan’s story is just unimaginable 😭 love her so much, she’s so strong! Xxxx

@DuzzyFuck welcome! Hope it’s a lucky month for everyone! Waiting for ovulation is such a drag, why do days past so slow when your TTC 😂

Lovebug06 · 28/10/2020 21:56

@Izzie94 heard of another couple of announcements today. Just want some for us girls! I'm a month behind you. I hope it's your month!
@MJM1608 they are 6 and 8, love them. We have had a fun few days but it's a bit crap with covid. Hope it's your month! AF is done now, was only just Sunday and Monday, think it wasn't even that was really quick actually.
@sparkylauz welcome Smile this is a lovely group.
@chillyfields I feel the same. Just feel a bit numb to it now, just nothing. I'm not sure if that's better or worse than upset, can't actually imagine AF not arriving tbh so I also think I'm in that giving up mindset, but I won't, I'll keep going. It's just a bit disheartening isn't it? Hope it's your month.
@2020TTC @DuzzyFuck welcome this thread has some lovely ladies on it, all of us a few months in and very supportive, sending baby dust to you both.

chillyfields · 28/10/2020 22:42

Thanks @MJM1608 that's good to know, this was a "his and hers MOT" (sounds horrendous...). I was concerned it might be a scam but if it's the going rate then fair enough.

@Lovebug06 I am the same! Completely numb this month, literally will be so surprised if AF doesn't arrive (which I guess would be better than the sadness when you see those endless BFNs). Here's hoping we both get our surprises sooner rather than later though. 🤞

SparkyLauz · 29/10/2020 09:04

@mjm1608 I can imagine! I do always say things happen for a reason... and with covid going on at the moment a summer baby might be more blessing than say a winter baby in the middle of a lockdown, going off what happened this year anyway! So maybe we are the lucky ones?!

I'm not sure whether it could be sperm from DTD, its hard to tell the difference. I will keep an eye on it this weekend. I usually get the smiley face on cd12 to 14 but then I have a shorter LP so AF tends to arrive about 10 days after.

@izzie94 Wow, you're at the exciting point of the cycle then hehe. When are you testing or are you waiting? I usually do it at 9dpo, my cycles are usually 24-26 days long, so quite short really compared to others again which concerns me slightly. AF only really lasts a few days too! But its has been very consistent since I came off the pill In April.

Hi @lovebug06 thanks for the welcome 😊

MJM1608 · 29/10/2020 11:00

@Lovebug06 Aww that's sweet, it's so lovely to be around young kids especially during this time! At least AF was quick and not too heavy/painful, now just the annoying middle land before ovulation but at least it's a new month! Sending positive vibes :)

@chillyfields Haha yes horrific name but pretty much what we got! We had ours done at our local fertility clinic. If you have any questions about it, please ask :)

@SparkyLauz Love your thoughts on this - totally better giving birth mid-summer than having a baby during cold winter :D July baby would be ideal so you only get a few hot months pregnant haha! So hard to tell the difference isn't it..sometimes when we DTD before ov, it's hard to know if you have EWCM or not. Is it good having a short leutal phase so you are out your misery quicker?! Hopefully no AF this time though :D!! xxx

MJM1608 · 29/10/2020 12:14

My manager has just announced her pregnancy.. she’s 5 months!! Can’t make it up 😂😂 happy for her though obviously!! ✨
