TTC #1, cycle 13 and fed up! Whose with me?

Theawkwardblonde · 21/09/2020 08:06

Hello. So AF arrived yesterday which means I'm officially on cycle 13 of TTC. I'm a healthy 28 year old with husband whose 33. We've had 2 chemical pregnancies in the time we've been actively trying. We are just waiting on our dates for blood tests and SA for husband.

Needless to say I'm bloody fed up! Had 3 friends announce pregnancy news in the last week, and one friend is due in 4 weeks. TTC is definitely starting to take its toll on both of us and the realisation that something may be wrong is starting to sink in.
Who else is having similar? Please feel free to share/rant!

@Monday55 Cheers for that-I think I'm going to get him on the multivitamins this month and see if that makes a difference.

@MJM1608 hello and welcome! Sorry to hear about your miscarriage. You're I. Good company on here.
We went through nhs, debating private now but it's money we don't have atm as having some work done to the house 😞
I'm starting to think I may have pcos as have the classic signs of them-my bloods this month will not doubt show this.
I may look into well man for him. I'm a bit apprehensive about pregnacare as I've heard mixed reports. Some swear by it, some say it messes with your cycles. I've just started a generic multivitamin. How have you found pregnacare-has it affected your cycles?

@Monday55 mine are 28 days usually, last one was 33 though which was odd. Has me thinking I had another chemical as I'm only ever late when this has happened 🤔

@Monday55 sorry to hear AF arrived but v glad you’ve got an appointment sorted, I do think they’ll be helpful with everything ☺️ My OH was quite like that and a bit miffed when we started doing tests but I’ve let him see me a bit more each cycle and now he’s seen the CP we had, he’s understood a lot more and started to be as keen as I am so I do think your OH will come round too!

LS2020 · 30/09/2020 10:48

@Theawkwardblonde my OH takes the perfect man seven seas which is same thing - multivitamin and omega 3 and it keeps him happy that he’s helping 😂 it can take 60 days to take effect on men’s swimmers though!

I also take a multivitamin and extra vit d after my bloods came back slightly low. Dr said I didn’t need to but got my CP last month straight away so I consider worth it ☺️

unicornpower · 30/09/2020 10:49

Hi ladies,

Can i join? we are on cycle 10 now but have been NTNP since May 2019. One miscarriage at 6 weeks in June 2020 and I'm really fed up now :(. We are 32 and 35 and have had initial early tests done as i get pelvic pain sometimes throughout my cycles. Waiting for our follow up so i can go on the waiting list for a laparoscopy. SA and initial other tests came back fine but it's so frustrating that it just isn't working. Everyone around me seems to be getting BFPs or is due in the next few months!

I take pregnacare and hubby takes the wellman vits which haven't messed with my cycles, if anything they have made them shorter and i don't get spotting like i used to before AF now. sending lots of baby dust to all xxxx

MJM1608 · 30/09/2020 10:52

@Theawkwardblonde it sucks being an adult & having to spend money on adult things 😄 hopefully you get some answers soon 🤞🏼 I will let you know my results anyway so you can have something to compare to hopefully. When is your appointment?
I have read this about pregnacare too actually! My cycles vary by 3-5 days every month but nothing that has made me panic. Have you looked in to pre-seed? It’s so hard to know what and if anything even helps!! I exercise 5/6 times a week, eat well, healthy BMI and barely drink anymore as well as doing everything right but no luck yet 🤷🏽‍♀️ Xxxxx

dogmam · 30/09/2020 12:16

@notyetamumbuttrying ah bet you can't wait for November to get the next SA. I just listened to that episode on the podcast with the urologist, think they mentioned it's worth 'cleaning up' your lifestyle before the SA although not really sure what that consists of, presumably cutting out crap from the diet and less alcohol hmm easier said than done though, I also heard a supplement called CoQ10 is good to improve sperm quality, might be worth a shot?!

@curbsideprophet yeah it hard, but think we just need to get on with it and deal with the problem if there is one! God this ttc is roughhhh On the brain!! Hope you can get some answers from your next appointment.

@monday55 sorry about AF, how are you feeling? Yeah best to get tests so you know where you're at, hopefully you can get those booked in soon.

@mjm1608 sorry about what happened last month. How are you doing? Hope you're ok. Yep same, good diet, healthy BMI etc and still no luck. Don't know what else to do!

CD12 today for me! When does everyone DTD? Do you think more is better or every 2-3 days? Just around FW or throughout full month?! I'm considering giving OPKs a miss (usually start them today and get peak CD 16/17) and just DTD every other day until CD 20 hmmmm decisions decisions!

MJM1608 · 30/09/2020 12:31

@dogmam - love the user!! I have a one year old pup who makes me happy every day! Thanks for asking, that’s so kind. I was only 5 weeks and nothing was found at the scan so in my head it was never a baby, the disappointment is overwhelming though! How many months have you been TTC for?

We DTD every 2-3 days from AF then fertile week every other day until a positive OKP where we do it 2/3 days in a row. It’s a total struggle not going to lie 😂 I ovulate on either CD 14-16 every month. I want to track ovulation so that I know how many days until I can test 🤣 but I understand why people say to relax and not be as obsessed! Easier said than done eh😄 xxx

notyetamumbuttrying · 30/09/2020 13:05

@CurbsideProphet were they able to sort out your period pain? Mine is horrendous every time! It starts a few days before and then cd1 and cd2 I have to double up on painkillers just to get through the day!
@Theawkwardblonde I can recommend Brazil nuts if he'll eat them, mine refuses lol! Wellman conception tablets, proxceed plus sachets, running, no hot baths, keep his laptop away from his lap, no phones in the pocket, eat more green leafy veg, no smoking, binge drinking etc.
@Monday55 sorry to hear about AF! Defo get testing underway, you will not regret seeing what's wrong (if anything).
@dogmam it's all that's keeping me going tbh as I just don't see it happening naturally for us. Yeah lifestyle changes are the biggest thing! So he's stopped smoking although he only started 6 months ago (bloody Covid) he doesn't binge drink anymore and is taking his supplements properly now. Only thing left is the exercise... he's also eating an orange a day as well as less rubbish in his diet overall.
We tend to leave all our dtd until FW and only once in tww but we need to spread it out more. We find this difficult as the desire isn't there as much when we know there's no chance of conception-bad isn't it! 😬

dogmam · 30/09/2020 16:02

@mjm1608 aww that's so cute he makes you happy every day! I feel the exact same way about mine, I love him so much, my day revolves around him, (well that and thinking about ttc) I actually need to step back a bit haha.
That scan must have been hard, I'm sorry ☹. Has it helped you knowing that you can get pregnant? It's been a year for us and never had a positive test. First 6 month we were just 'seeing what happens' and the last 6 month's I've been tracking so really starting to question why it's not happened yet. I only have 1 coffee a day now, rarely have a drink, eat healthy but have upped fruit and veg, take folic acid and VitD and this month I've actually stopped running to see if that make any difference, not sure if I have been over doing it.. god knows, I'm clutching at straws!!

@notyetamumbuttrying ah well that sounds like some really positive changes already and atvthe end of the day, we can't be perfect and restrict everything, especially with bloody covid we at least need something to look forward to now and then! I suppose ultimately the DTD in the FW is the only way to get a bfp so if it's what works for you both then go for it, and any other times a bonus!

CurbsideProphet · 30/09/2020 17:03

@notyetamumbuttrying the first gynaecologist wasn't interested at all in my period pain or change in cycles. Hopefully when I'm referred again I'll speak to a gynaecologist who listens...
Luckily I wfh all of the time now. I wouldn't be able to manage if I had a physically demanding job.

notyetamumbuttrying · 30/09/2020 18:04

Yeah exactly @dogmam although we need to do it more regularly so that it's not all backed up swimmers come FW! 😂

@CurbsideProphet so bad what we have to go through as women! No wonder we get mood swings 😆

MJM1608 · 30/09/2020 21:46

@dogmam Dogs make everything better! When I had my MC she was lying by my side the whole time, they just know! The doctor said it’s a positive sign I can get pregnant so will just have to see how it goes! Apparently you’re more fertile after an MC and I have ovulated 2 weeks later 🤷🏽‍♀️

It’s so frustrating and hope it’s not getting you too down. Feel like everyone is announcing now pregnancies too?! Sounds like your body should be in good condition so I hope you get you BFP soon!! I think exercise is a good thing 😊 Do you think you will go down a fertility route? xxxx

Theawkwardblonde · 01/10/2020 12:27

@unicornpower hello and welcome!

@MJM1608 yep-adult things like doors and flooring 🤣🤣 my appointment is 14th so will have more soon after that I hope.
Interesting that the docs says the MCs are a good sign (saw your recent comment). Mine said that too, but I'm of the mindset that I can conceive, but why doesn't it stick? 🤷🏼‍♀️

@dogmam we tried SMEP (sperm meets egg plan) and have been following that the last few months for DTD. Not worked other then a chemical like 🤷🏼‍♀️

@notyetamumbuttrying Brazil nuts?! I hadn't heard that one, can't harm him so I'll buy him some today 😂

Trying to remain positive although cba to actually DTD yet (still knackered off last month). Got 8 days till I'm meant to be ovulating. I'm starting to feel a bit resentment towards the process which isn't great at all. May just take a break this month if I'm honest, but then feel guilty. It's been a looong 13 months! 😂😂

OP posts:
notyetamumbuttrying · 01/10/2020 12:54

@Theawkwardblonde it's got selenium in it which is key for swimmers! Most male conception vitamins have it in too so as long as he's taking those then he'll get his dose. He needs to take zinc too.
I feel you with taking a break, 13 months is a long time for timed sex isn't it. Gets boring pretty quickly, even with all the dressing up or whatever to keep it exciting. Knowing you're doing it to conceive just takes the spark out of it doesn't it.

CurbsideProphet · 01/10/2020 16:38

God I agree about dtd soooo much for so long 😬 My referral to the fertility part of gynaecology has gone through. The appointment isn't until January. I'm not even sure if that will go ahead when we get further into our second wave and they shut everything down again 😩 Trying to stay a bit upbeat as I finally start acupuncture on Saturday.

notyetamumbuttrying · 01/10/2020 17:18

@CurbsideProphet yeah it's hard to predict what will happen but good things are moving forward at the moment for you! Acupuncture's something I want to try, think I'll see outcome of second SA first and then decide.

CurbsideProphet · 01/10/2020 18:02

@notyetamumbuttrying I've had my electronic appointment letter and the name of the consultant in charge of the clinic. I've googled him and it looks like he's a big name in the fertility field. I'm gutted we've reached this stage, but glad that I'll be seeing someone who really knows what they're talking about (or at least one of their juniors who defers to them).
You never know, acupuncture might be a winner 🤞🏻

notyetamumbuttrying · 01/10/2020 20:01

Dr Jonathan Ramsey per chance? @CurbsideProphet he's the top man on male factor! I want to see him for Dh but we'll see what the second SA says first. Even though I know our issue is on his side and not mine, I'm still convinced my early ovulation probably doesn't help his slow swimmers lol so I've ordered some soya isoflavones to take for the next cycle to build up a stronger egg. Dh has proxceed plus sachets to start taking and has bought himself an Apple Watch to encourage running! I hope he starts on the weekend. He's been so good with not smoking and hasn't binged drank either. He's eating his oranges every day so I need to start feeling more positive now. 🤞🏾😬

CurbsideProphet · 01/10/2020 21:46

@notyetamumbuttrying Professor Charles Kingsland. SA hasn't been mentioned yet, so I presume my GP is waiting for Gynaecology to request it as part of the plan.
We've both been trying to improve our eating and get more exercise. It's difficult to feel motivated!

notyetamumbuttrying · 01/10/2020 22:09

@CurbsideProphet yeah it is isn't it. Even when you know it's for the most important reason ever! 😬

Theawkwardblonde · 02/10/2020 07:48

I'm in an awful mood today. Just had another pregnancy announcement by a friend. Managed to get pregnant first month of trying too. I think my reaction was "are you f**cking kidding me??" then realised what I said and had to rein it in. Obviously I'm happy but I mean come on!! That's 4 close friends now, and one due to drop any moment! I think I'm going to buy a cat and make that my child.

OP posts:
notyetamumbuttrying · 02/10/2020 07:55

@Theawkwardblonde I know the feeling hun, I really do!! Do they know you're trying and how long it's been?

Monday55 · 02/10/2020 18:11

UPDATE: Finally have a date for my bloods and its 3rd week of Oct so should have results by end of the month.

For those who've done blood tests already and waiting has the doc mentioned clomid or letrozole?

@Theawkwardblonde I know the feeling. Everyone close to me seems to get pregnant in record time. I'm actually glad we are back in lockdown because during summer at family events everyone kept asking when we are going to have kids 😑

notyetamumbuttrying · 02/10/2020 18:31

Yay 😃 @Monday55!!
They didn't for me. They won't until the results as you might be ovulating so they won't recommend clomid before knowing that answer.

CurbsideProphet · 02/10/2020 19:40

@Theawkwardblonde oh god it's so difficult to be repeatedly happy and excited for other couples 😬 I hope you're feeling ok now.

@Monday55 I feel the same about lockdown. We can only see people outside in a public place. We've been married a year now and I've been worrying everyone will start asking if we're planning children. We can't really see anyone and that suits me right now tbh 😩
