I hope people don’t mind me jumping on to this thread! We have been TTC since April so 7 months now. I have relatively short cycles (ranging from 22 to 26 days) always very regular though.

I had lots of pregnancy symptoms this month including breathlessness, nausea, increased saliva, weird dreams etc and had convinced myself I was pregnant. Even to the point of thinking of ways to tell my fiancé. Then on Thursday (3 days early) my period arrived. It’s been very different this month- more pinky but still quite heavy. I’ve never been this early before and it’s puzzled me.

Any ideas would be greatly received? 👍🏻

I stupidly took a test on Friday and it was negative so it obviously wasn’t implantation bleeding, but could it have been a very early miscarriage?

Feel very disheartened as I naively thought ttc would happen pretty much instantly for us. I’m 28 btw.

Stabal · 15/11/2020 12:00

@CAG14 sorry AF showed her ugly head again. I know you're sort trying but not at the minute but if you want to join us in WhatsApp send me your number and I'll add you to our chat, we'd love to have you there! It's not all conceive talk I promise 😂

@sunshineandshowers3 there's no way to tell it could have been a chemical without a positive test. Are you sure on when you ovulated? Also if it was implantation bleeding a test wouldn't be positive the day after, it would take a few days for enough hcg to rise! 🤞

sunshineandshowers3 · 15/11/2020 13:00

@Stabal Thank you for responding to my very first comment! Pretty sure I ovulated on 1st November. The thought of it being implantation bleeding was keeping me going but I know realistically it isn’t.

Feel very glum which I know is silly as realistically we haven’t been trying long but I just feel so disheartened and like my body is just letting me down.

CAG14 · 15/11/2020 13:27

@stabal I've PM'd you thank you so much! We are still ttc just had a month where I tried to focus on weight loss and being healthy. I've lost 12 pounds though so happy with that.

@sunshineandshowers3 sorry you are feeling like this. The body and mind can play cruel tricks on you, however you never know it could have been a chemical but like stabal said it is not possible to know without a positive.

sunshineandshowers3 · 15/11/2020 15:12

@CAG14 Thank you - I just thought it would be a heck of a lot easier than this. A friend is pregnant and I just feel jealousy and know I shouldn’t. It’s not constructive, it’s obviously not her fault and certainly doesn’t help me being jealous. Need to shake this feeling!

How long have people been ttc?

Stabal · 15/11/2020 15:22

@sunshineandshowers3 do you use OPKs and BBT? The jealousy feeling never really goes away unfortunately, you kind of have to learn to live with it and that's fine. It's okay to feel longing whilst being extremely pleased for someone! I've been TTC for 25 months, fell pregnant in March but miscarriages in May and have been trying again since so 6 months now. Hoping it doesn't take another 19 more!

sunshineandshowers3 · 15/11/2020 17:14

@Stabal Yes I use OPK’s (they say I ovulate around day 10/11) but I don’t temp. I’m a healthy weight, don’t smoke and don’t drink all that much. Never have much EWCM but have been drinking grapefruit juice for the past couple of months and it’s definitely increased. I started my period very young (still at primary school) and have read research that this can affect fertility. We’ve been trying since April- so not all that long in the grand scheme of things, but it still crushes me every month.

I am so very sorry to hear about your miscarriage earlier this year and the time it has taken to get to this point. If you don’t mind me asking, how old are you? I think we set such high expectations for ourselves and then berate ourselves when we don’t live up to them. I certainly do anyway.

Stabal · 15/11/2020 17:23

@sunshineandshowers3 I definitely lacked ewcm on a lot of cycles before my miscarriage. I started taking omega 3 with dha which has enhanced it greatly and I get it every cycle now. But I guess the positive is I managed to fall pregnant without having the ideal cm. Like you say, it's so easy to think we're failing especially by comparing ourselves to others! I know if I had been on MN before March I'd have worried myself sick that I never experienced ewcm. I turned 30 in May so it was the worst birthday ever haha. Just lost my baby and we were in lockdown so couldn't see my family. One I would certainly like to forget! How old are you?

sunshineandshowers3 · 15/11/2020 17:49

@Stabal Haven’t heard that tip about omega 3...sounds like it’s definitely worth a try though 👍🏻. Yeah I love MN but it’s such a double edge sword...it’s either reassuring or just makes you worry and then hit google a million times searching lots of outlandish things.

Oh I’m so sorry ☹️ My fiancé turned 30 during lockdown and we were due to get married in April, but have obviously had to postpone.

I’m 28 and my fiancé is 30. The number of people I know that ‘weren’t even trying and it happened straight away’. The cynic in me wonders how often people tell the truth 🤔.

Have you tried preseed at all?

crazycatlady1981 · 15/11/2020 19:35

@Mia1985x I’ve booked in for my first treatment of acupuncture on 25th and then having weekly treatments for a while I think. I’m quite excited about it! The lady I’m seeing trained in acupuncture because she had treatment herself for fertility issues and was so impressed by it that she became an acupuncturist! 😊

@sunshineandshowers3 welcome!
I’m 39 and have been ttc for about 2 years.

Sorry to everyone who’s af has arrived over the last few days! But here’s to us all getting our BFPs by Christmas!!! 🎄🎉

Stabal · 15/11/2020 20:03

@sunshineandshowers3 really frustrates me how people can accidentally fall lol obviously thrilled for them but arghh! My OH's brothers girlfriend is pregnant and she described it as, "a little surprise accident". I had to stop talking to her for a while. I hate being this person though!
Oh no, I'm sorry about your wedding! It's happened to so many people hasn't it, I'd be so upset. We had just finished booking all our things for ours next November in February and I'm so thankful we decided not to go for this year and wait until 2021!

@crazycatlady1981 ohh let us know how you find the acupuncture, definitely something I'd consider trying

sunshineandshowers3 · 15/11/2020 20:41

@crazycatlady1981 thank you ❤️ Everyone seems so lovely and supportive already.

Yeah we have a couple of friends currently pregnant who aren’t in stable relationships and I find it so hard not letting it get to me. I’ve confided in my Mum a lot (only person who knows we’re trying) and she keeps telling me to stress less. I know she’s just being her lovely self and means well but it is quite infuriating. When I asked her how long it took to conceive me she said it was the first month. SO easy to say relax when you’ve not been in the position yourself. I’d probably say the same if we weren’t struggling.

Yep it was shitty at the time as we wanted to be married before we started trying but now we’ve scrapped that idea. A 2021 wedding will be lovely! ❤️

I keep having the silly thought ‘why didn’t we start trying a year or so ago earlier and then we might have a baby now’. So silly I know.

crazycatlady1981 · 16/11/2020 08:27

@sunshineandshowers3 I’m the same, always thinking that I should have started ttc earlier on in my relationship and started tracking everything and put more effort in with opks, bbt when we did start trying! But we wanted to stay relaxed about it at the beginning and foolishly thought it would all just happen instantly! Only really went full on with tracking this year since lockdown! Haven’t tried preseed, but have tried conceive plus/fertility start a few times. Going to use it this week as I’m in my fertile window.
I also started periods early at 10 years old and I wondered whether it has any effect on fertility! Another thing to google!! 🤦🏻‍♀️ 😂

sunshineandshowers3 · 16/11/2020 16:21

@crazycatlady1981 Yep we beat ourselves up a lot don’t we!?! Yeah I feel the same - I wanted to start off relaxed and carefree with the attitude ‘it’ll happen when it happens’. Definitely don’t stick to that mantra anymore! Do people know you’re ttc?

Crossing everything for us both this month 🤞. Yes I was 10 too and wonder if it’s affected it...but I have always been regular. I asked my Mum and she said she was young too but had no trouble conceiving me (when she was 29) and my brother (when she was 27).

How long is your cycle? Mine is on the short side and varies from 22-26 days x

crazycatlady1981 · 16/11/2020 19:39

@sunshineandshowers3 we haven’t told many people, just a couple of my friends who also struggled to conceive for years, but both now have a baby through ivf, which is great, but I do find it a bit difficult talking about it with them now.
I think because I’ve gone past a certain age, most people assume that we aren’t interested in having children, so at least I don’t get the constant questions about when we’re gona have children anymore!!
My cycles are generally mostly 26-27 days, but they do vary sometime as early as 24 days and can very rarely be up to 29 days.
My GP is phoning me this week so I’m hoping I’ll be able to progress a bit further with tests/scan etc once I’ve spoken to her and find out if anything’s wrong.🤞🏻

@CAG14 well done for your weight loss! That’s amazing! It’s good to have a month of focusing on something other than just ttc!

sunshineandshowers3 · 16/11/2020 21:00

@crazycatlady1981 Your cycles sound a good length! I always worry mine are too short 🙈. I am SO tempted to contact my GP early which I know I shouldn’t but I just worry with Covid that everything is going to take twice as long!

Hope you have a good chat with your GP and can make a step forward.

I know it’s only Monday but already feel this week is dragging! 😂🙈

crazycatlady1981 · 20/11/2020 08:20

How’s everyone’s week going?
Spoke to GP yesterday and all my blood tests are fine, so the next step is getting DH to do his SA. I finally got him to register at same GP (after waiting 3 months to hand in some forms!!) so going to try and get SA done next week if possible and get things moving along towards referral!🤞🏻

Stabal · 29/11/2020 00:04

@crazycatlady1981 how are you doing? Have you got anywhere with your DH? Sorry we've kind of neglected this thread but we've started a WhatsApp group, if you wanna join give us a little PM ☺️

Stabal · 01/12/2020 19:25

@stepmumSW5 @Jadeb1995 how are you both getting on?

Trinityhome · 04/12/2020 09:08

@Stabal yeah I'm good thanks, 16 weeks now and starting to pop.

I hope you're all doing good, I keep an eye on this thread so please make sure you all share any good news!! Xx

(Name change from jadeb1995)

Mia1985x · 04/12/2020 10:53

@Trinityhome aw so nice to hear from and so glad it's all going well. 16 weeks, wow thats flown in! How lovely you are starting to pop 🥰

A few of the regulars on here have started a whatsapp group hence why we've been quite quiet on here. We would all ofcourse update with any major news 🤞🏻

I had my hycosy last month and currently in TWW zone so hoping I get some increased fertility from it as tubes were all clear.

LT103 · 04/12/2020 16:29

@Trinityhome wow 16wks. Time is flying!!! Glad you’re well. I love when people come back to post updates.

Not much happening here. In 2ww so 🤞🤞

@crazycatlady1981 I’m at sort of same stage. Had bloods heckled checked before but calling go next week to get ball rolling. Does your partner need to be registered at the same practice? Mine isn’t and they’re not accepting new patients 🤷🏻‍♀️

MiniBaker · 04/12/2020 17:17

Hi @sunshineandshowers3 so sorry to just jump in but I have been following the thread and just read your experience and thought everything you said was like me talking! I’ve been TTC for 8 months now, 2 of my step-sisters have just fallen pregnant at similar times and also 2 of my cousins who are around the same age and I just feel so jealous of them! We were supposed to be having a big wedding abroad in May but when covid came we postponed until next year for the big event but went by ourselves to the registry office to get married as we just wanted to do it this year and not be waiting a whole other year! For this reason and also to stop people asking we haven’t told anyone either we are TTC. Except for my mum, who I routinely call and cry to each month when AF arrives! I’m 29 and I also started my period very young, when I was at primary school about 10 or 11 and also hardly get EWCM - i’ve only noticed a small amount last month for the first time since we’ve been trying! Completely relate to the frustration of hearing someone say ‘just relax’ it’s really annoying.

Where about’s are you in your cycle now? Have you tried SMEP method? Xx

sunshineandshowers3 · 04/12/2020 17:38

@MiniBaker Hi 😊 oh my gosh we have so many similarities thats quite amazing!

How old is your husband? My fiancé is 30 and we’re both just so ready to have children. The relax thing is so infuriating!! I wish I could - I have slight OCD and ttc has just exasperated it!

Do you ever worry about starting your period so young? I do but I know my Mum started at primary school too and she caught quite quickly with my brother and I.

Have you gone to the doctor since you’ve been trying? I know all the research says wait a year, but it’s just so blooming hard!

In terms of EWCM, mine has increased since having grapefruit juice every day. I don’t particularly like the taste, but it’s a means to an end!

AF is due this Sunday and pretty sure I’m out this cycle unfortunately. Where are you in your cycle?

Crossing everything we can all have Christmas BFP’s! 😊xxx

MiniBaker · 04/12/2020 18:17

@sunshineandshowers3 I know when I was reading through the comments and I saw yours - I thought she is crazy similar to me!

My Husband is 27 so he is a bit younger but we’re both in the right place to have children and just feel so ready. He is way more relaxed than me though and keeps saying ‘it will happen’ but I’m more like.... Why hasn’t it happened 😥?? To be honest from the start I just knew it would take me a while because I’m so impatient. What is your Fiancé like about it all?

Oh completely same - I usually plan everything down to the detail so with TTC I’ve tried so many things - I tried drinking grapefruit juice a few months ago, i’ve tried taking supplements, we’ve both tried taking supplements, i’ve completely cut out alcohol all year! I’ve used the LH tests, i’ve tried not used the LH tests (for fear it was stressing me out), I’ve tried eating loads of broccoli and drinking smoothies with spinach in and most recently i’ve given up caffeine - which actually seemed to work! As I did get some EWCM in my most recent cycle.

To be honest - I never really thought anything of starting my periods early - if anything I thought it might have meant I was more fertile as I had boobs quite young too. But I haven’t read up on that to be fair (yet 😉).

I’ve been to the Doctors and had my bloods tested and they said everything was normal and I ovulated that month. So I was glad it gave me a positive but also no answer. Hubby has done a sperm sample too and they came back normal as well. Have you called and spoke to them? If anything it is reassuring knowing those problems are rules out.

Have you been on the pill at all? I was on the pill from age 14-28 and worry that might be a factor.

I’m on day 3 of AF now so just waiting for it to be over so we can start cycle 9 😊.

I hope next month is your month - can’t wait to hear some 8 months plus TTC success stories! xx
