Firstly - can I ask everyone what OPKs they are using?? What do you find works?

@robodo good idea not having tests! It's crazy how the mind plays you! Yea I'm going to try not to symptom spot this month and just relax :)

@Clove76 it sounds like good signs! I know some people have shown up with FRER at 14DPO so you might show! But it's such early days. I don't check cervix position, never really thought about that! Good idea.

@bigblueboots that sounds like very good news! I have had MCs but not had chemical, I would be interested to know more too.

@RBCoxie thank you lovely, it's so hard but your eight onwards and upwards! How long have you been TTC I'm onto year 2 (But very much on and off not constant!) but 2 MCs along the way, okay I feel like I've missed something 😂 I just had to look up SMEP that's a good idea

RBCoxie · 06/10/2020 20:09

@MontyFALD I'm going to be using the Boots own brand ones - I used a couple last month and found them really easy to use and read. So sorry to hear about your MCs! 💕 I'm very new to TTC, last month was my first month so now onto my second. Very aware that I'll be extremely lucky if anything happens this early! Yeah I saw SMEP on another thread and had to look it up too 😂 it looked interesting so thought why not give it a go!

Imworthit · 06/10/2020 20:16

I started using clear blue opk. Very reliable and easy to use so far but a bit pricey.

Supermathsdoc · 06/10/2020 20:21

I Onestep from here, they work for me and are super cheap!

MummyToPrince · 06/10/2020 20:50

Hey ladies hope everyone is well today, last month my fertile window started 3 days after AF, I have now finished AF so would it be wise for me to start doing my opks tomorrow? As I'm worried I will ovulate early again and I don't want to miss it 🤦‍♀️

MummyToPrince · 06/10/2020 20:52

@Supermathsdoc they are the ovulation strips tests I've got, this will be the first time I've ever used them 🤞

BellaBella84 · 06/10/2020 21:02

Wow the days have been running away from me again. I can't believe it's only a week until I need to crack open the OPKs again! I hadn't bothered this last couple of months as they're an added expense and they just confirmed what I already thought. This month I really want to pinpoint it though as I reckon my peak days will fall over a weekend, dramatically increasing my chances of getting laid! 🤣 🤣🤣

RBCoxie · 06/10/2020 21:31

@MummyToPrince hey lovely! I don't think it can hurt to start OPKs early - worst that will happen is that you'll peak slightly later and you'll use a few more OPKs but at least you won't run the risk of missing it!

@BellaBella84 I swear the rest of the month goes quickly but the TWW is a lifetime 😂 definitely don't want to be missing weekend fertile days! I'm going to try to WFH as much as possible so I'm not exhausted after a crazy long commute if my fertile days fall during the week 😂

BellaBella84 · 06/10/2020 21:36

@RBCoxie Almost everyone I know is in teaching or nursing, so my scope is somewhat limited, but I've heard a few really positive reports about WFH. What's your take on it?

MummyToPrince · 06/10/2020 21:44

@RBCoxie it feels like I haven't spoke to you in ages! Yeah I think I'm going to start Thursday and then I know for sure I won't miss ovulation! I want to be 1 step ahead so I can start DTD early and make sure I make the most out of every day 😂😂🤦‍♀️

How are you lovely?

OP posts:
Supermathsdoc · 06/10/2020 22:21

@MummyToPrince yeah in that case I would definitely start, you basically have nothing to lose by testing and as @RBCoxie says you don’t want to miss it.

I only have one ‘shot’ a month with my donor so I test 3 times a day, which is fairly intense but as the strips are cheap at least it doesn’t break the bank!

RBCoxie · 06/10/2020 23:19

@BellaBella84 I've actually enjoyed WFH! I've saved so much money on the commute (I commute into London - 1.5hrs each way!). I've got quite a nice set up at home and my OH is WFH too so it hasn't been too bad for me! I do know a lot of people who don't feel the same but typically they're in flat shares with not a great set up or are WFH with children so that's so much more difficult!

@MummyToPrince I know!! So pleased to hear your AF is on the way out! Your plan makes complete sense - definitely better than risking missing your peak! I'm going to do the same for sure. I'm good thank you! Feeling much better than yesterday! Just looking forward to this awful AF being over - 3 more days to go!

@Supermathsdoc with one shot a month, I don't blame you for testing 3 times per day! Do you use a specific type of OPKs? If the strips are cheaper I may look into getting those.

Imworthit · 07/10/2020 03:18

I do think it's worth it to waste a few bucks on opks. I actually was pretty sure I ovulate usually week after AF but it was actually way later than way early. Would have taken a break this month if I hadn't been dead wrong and missed my actual window.

Imworthit · 07/10/2020 03:24

Those were some terribly constructed sentences. Sorry 😂

Supermathsdoc · 07/10/2020 07:30

@RBCoxie I use these: homehealth-uk.com/all-products/one-step-30-x-3-5mm-wide-ovulation-test-strips-30miuml/

MummyToPrince · 07/10/2020 08:05

I have a question for those that have background with OPKs so AF finished yesterday, and due to ovulating early last month, should this be as bright as it is a day after AF finished? I'm sorry if I sound stupid I've never used these, thank you in advance x

@CRBcoxie, how's AF for you? How long does she usually last?

@MummyToPrince AFAIK most people have some LH at all times in their cycle, so the stick may never be completely white.

When I first tested I used very sensitive ones and it was hard for me to work out the surge. I tried different sensitivities until I found one that was very light on day CD 11 and became gradually darker.

MummyToPrince · 07/10/2020 09:06

@Supermathsdoc ah ok thank you :-) I kinda wish I have used opks before so I could look back on what looks right and what doesn't if that makes sense.. I think I'm going to DTD every other day and if I reach peak I will do every day.. My partner is going to love this month 😂🤦‍♀️

OP posts:
Clove76 · 07/10/2020 09:56

@mummytoprince It could be that you ovulate early in your cycle, or as supermathsdoc said it’s normal for there always to be some present in your system throughout the month. That does look like it’s getting stronger though. Sounds like a good idea to DTD as much as you can.

I ovulate early too, normally- DS was conceived from DTD on day 10 of a cycle (we didn’t do it again that month until days before I was due AF, so am fairly certain I ovulate early compared to normal). Keep a close eye on it with the OPKs xx

MummyToPrince · 07/10/2020 10:04

@Clove76 last month it was only 3 days after AF and I was in my fertile window, but I'm definitely going to start DTD so I don't miss any opportunity! I will also do another OPK tonight and see if it's getting darker and then continue to do one in the morning and at night.. Aww the happened to me with DS only took DTD once! But I knew before taking the test that I was pregnant xx

RBCoxie · 07/10/2020 10:15

@MummyToPrince AF has been horrible so far - ridiculously heavy and just not pleasant at all 😔 it normally lasts 5 days, I'm on day 3 today with day 5 being quite light, so I'm nearing the end!

@Supermathsdoc thanks for sending these! I had a quick look online and saw the easy@home ones with the Premom app for free same day delivery! Now getting to grips with the app 😂

Clove76 · 07/10/2020 14:01

@BettyM90 Nice to know I’m not the only one who checks my cervix! Yes I’m not sure how to tell the difference between open/closed, can only really tell if it’s high/low or soft/hard. It’s been a bit changeable over the last day for me.. no other symptoms still. I felt a flicker of a cramp earlier so wondering if that means AF is on the way. Feel groggy today but just had the flu jab. I’m not planning on testing but will probably end up doing it by the weekend! When are you thinking of testing again? Have you had any more symptoms ?

Just catching up on posts - congrats @bigblueboots lovely news!

@MontyFALD I also use the cheap one step ones- I buy them in big bags from eBay. I’ve been using them several months now, they’ve always been good!

@MummyToPrince that’s a good idea to do another OPK tonight. Yes my fertile window is almost straight after my period ends too. Aw- yep same it only took doing it once to fall pregnant with DS, it’s been so different this time round!!

BettyM90 · 07/10/2020 15:23

@Clove76 are you still seeing that your cervix is high? I’m not sure when I will test as am very confused as I was having what felt like usual AF cramps the past few days...and yesterday I went to the loo and when I wiped there was lots of fresh pink/red blood. I had a tampon in overnight and in the morning there was no fresh blood just old brown blood. Just to make it even more confusing, i did one of the CB OPK’s and got a flashing smiley.
God knows what’s going on with me! I wasn’t sure AF until Friday 😩
Have any of you other ladies experienced anything like this? X
