@BellaBella84 currently I don't think there's any benefits and I say that from being a mum who has lost babies in the past and would probably benefit from knowing sooner than Iater.

Chemical pregnancies occur more often because women are testing earlier and more often. Therefore they're aware of a potential pregnancy not sticking which can lead to emotional problems.

I'm testing early because I literally have zero patience and I'm a glutton for punishment

RBCoxie · 28/09/2020 09:53

@BettyM90 welcome! I haven't use the clear blue OPKs before, but I get the impression that it depends on the individual. I have 30 day cycles and I ovulate on CD16 as an example. I had a quick google and the Clearblue website explained the different situations under the '5 points you need to read before use' uk.clearblue.com/ovulation-tests/advanced-digital - from what I can see, you're definitely not alone in the situation, so I'd just keep DTD and see what happens - good luck!! 😊

@Supermathsdoc I feel this completely. All 'symptoms' could easily be attributed to just normal hormones. Keeping everything crossed for you too! You're testing on the 1st too right?

@SparklePrincesss I also noticed darker blue veins yesterday/today - this is what got me so excited! I'm putting everything down to normal hormones now - I really didn't think I'd symptom spot as much as I am - ah well, you live and learn!

@BellaBella84 Honestly, no benefit 😂 Nah, in all seriousness, I think it's just a matter of wanting to know sooner and have a reason for all the things people feel. This morning I had the irrational thought of 'if hormones are causing these symptoms then it must be high enough to show on a test'. Wrong (or right, and I'm just not pregnant!).

maybe2021 · 28/09/2020 09:57

@BellaBella84 i think its just for curiosity haha , its hard waiting till your period is due , you just need to know if its worked ha , am only 8dpo and lve already tested twice lol , and ofcourse its a BFN , logic just seems to go out the window in TWW !

Clove76 · 28/09/2020 10:01

@BettyM90 Hello Smile I think it depends, how long is your cycle? I don’t think that sounds too late to ovulate as for lots of women ovulation isn’t slap bang in the middle of the month. Are you testing twice a day? I usually try and test twice a day in the run up to ovulation as I think you can miss a positive test, sometimes it comes and goes quickly within a few hours I’ve found. Last month my OPK tests never quite got to positive, does make me wonder if I actually ovulated at all.
We are due AF the same days - hopefully won’t arrive for either of us!

@Supermathsdoc I know exactly what you mean, feel like I’m constantly in 2 minds telling myself this is the month, but then thinking- no, need to be prepared for it not to happen! It’s so hard isn’t it. 10 days is still quite early so fingers crossed you have some symptoms soon :)

HollowayL30 · 28/09/2020 10:04

@SparklePrincesss Hey sorry for l reply had such a busy day at chessington yesterday! Oh I just made a red Thai curry with noddles but hotter than I normally go! The morning after wasn't very nice but was fine the rest of the day! Haha!
@MummyToPrince How are you going? Don't count yourself out till AF arrives, I didn't come on yesterday so that ap is out haha! However my other ap says in two day time. I can't pinpoint my cycle as July was CP so August cycle was 30th. I'm just waiting till Friday 😂
I don't feel any different tho.

I'm from Brighton! Anyone else down this way? X

SparklePrincesss · 28/09/2020 10:08

@HollowayL30 how was chessington? It's been over 20 years since I've been, I used to love going there!!

MilkchopsMcgee · 28/09/2020 10:18

Hello Ladies sorry I've been awol, swab was negative and so was this mornings test, not due on until Thursday though so still a bit early. Hope your all okay

BellaBella84 · 28/09/2020 10:36

I think maybe it's different if you're young and already have children. (Please correct me any over 35s!) At 36 TTC#1 my chances of getting pregnant are around 15-20%, so I think it's easier to get my head into the mindset of "probably not pregnant". Symptom spotting is definitely out of the question, everything you guys are describing sounds like my PMT on a good day! Honestly I can sometimes have a whole week of crying and spots and munchies, and I even have a PMT bra beause my others wont fit! 🤣

maybe2021 · 28/09/2020 10:58

@BellaBella84 haha pmt bra is a great idea 😄 i agree , am currently ttc#2 and ive been pregnant a couple of times before , i always tell myself its completely irrational to take into account any symptoms in the TWW as an indication of pregnancy because previously when i have been pregnant i feel nothing until at least 6 weeks mark , some women do feel pregnant immedietly for sure but for most of us the symptoms are usually caused by progesterone rather than Hcg i believe

Imworthit · 28/09/2020 11:08

Thought I was due to ovulate 21st. But had no sex drive, felt very down. Opk negative thought I'd missed my chance this month, was pretty sad.
This morning I just had a feeling and took a test Opk positive. Suddenly very hopeful again. Is CD18 common??

BettyM90 · 28/09/2020 11:08

@RBCoxie thank you for the link - I think I’m going to be one the small percentage that ovulate late Sad we have been trying to DTD as often as we can (normally every other day) so hopefully we will catch the right time!

@Clove76 - hello :) I have been trying to test twice a day now I’ve got a flashing smiley but not sure if I’m testing too late in the evening? I was thinking if I had missed the surge would the monitor not go back to a blank circle? It’s quite confusing! Have you had a positive OPK yet for this cycle?
That’s exciting...fingers crossed AF doesn’t make an appearance for either of us! When do you think you will test? Xx

BettyM90 · 28/09/2020 11:11

@Imworthit I’m on CD18 and am still getting ‘high fertility’ on my OPK but no peak as yet xx

MummyToPrince · 28/09/2020 11:11

I hope this link works but I found this super interesting about fmu and hcg community.whattoexpect.com/forums/trying-to-conceive/topic/my-official-stance-on-fmu.html

I think the emotional rollercoaster is just starting to take it's toll a bit. It's such a fine line between realism and pessimism, but also between optimism and false hope.

I think today feels like an ice cream based wallow day!

Also hats off to any of you ladies who managed to get your sh*t together before 35. Serious skills 👏👏👏 I was still in house shares until I was 33! 🤦‍♀️

Imworthit · 28/09/2020 11:18

Thanks @BettyM90 TTC month 3. Clearly still just working all this out.

Imworthit · 28/09/2020 11:23

@BellaBella84 I'm 34 but seem to be going backwards in terms of having my shit together since 30. Just decided fuck it no time like the present 😂

BellaBella84 · 28/09/2020 11:36

@Imworthit Oh no! My friend who's 43 is on his 3rd house with his 18 month daughter. Him and his wife are taking it in their stride, because what other choice is there?! They're both teachers. That level of housing instability with a child would put me over the edge!

Supermathsdoc · 28/09/2020 12:05

@RBCoxie yes! I’m planning to test on the 1st and hopefully I can hold out.

@BellaBella84 I have tested early before and I had a chemical. I think it was helpful in some ways (at least I know some part of the process works!) but in other ways it felt quite sad. I decided there wasn’t much benefit to knowing about more chemicals, but then sometimes I think - what if I have loads, maybe that indicates some other type of problem??

So as usual, I don’t know what the ‘right’ thing to do is. But I would say that TTC can be so hard that if someone finds something makes it tiny bit easier for them (like making the 2WW into 10 days) I say go for it!

I’m 38 TTC #1 and had a year in my head as to how long it would take. But there’s always that part of me that thinks either, no I’ll be different and it’ll happen straight away - or I’ll be different and it just won’t happen for me.

My head and emotions are really hard to keep level, but it helps to see other people being so strong and impressive.

Supermathsdoc · 28/09/2020 12:07

For those using the OPKs I found that folic acid made my cycle longer (the first part before ovulation) so if it’s not what you’re expecting that could be a contributing reason? I went from CD14 to CD17

BellaBella84 · 28/09/2020 12:13

@Supermathsdoc Thank you, that really does help. I think I just get a bit Negative Nelly before my period anyway and the pre emptive disappointment might be getting to me. If I'm actually pregnant, you could knock me over with a feather! 🤣

SparklePrincesss · 28/09/2020 12:16

@MummyToPrince 🤦🏻‍♀️ that makes me want to test even more 🤪🤣🤣

But yeah I got a bfp with my 5 year old when I took the test in the evening!

I'm 39, I really do wonder if that plays a part too...

RBCoxie · 28/09/2020 13:08

@MummyToPrince that's definitely made me want to test more! haha! so interesting though!!

@BettyM90 at least you've been DTD! You never know - it might have happened and you've just had a slightly weaker peak this month and therefore the test hasn't picked it up. Keeping everything crossed for you!

Imworthit · 28/09/2020 14:10

@Supermathsdoc

Ahh! That makes sense. I've been on folic acid for a while 😊
HollowayL30 · 28/09/2020 15:24

Ahh I think I'm out this month I have very light blood when I wipe, so light that I can just about see it but I think it's the start of AF...wahhhh!! How's everyone else doing? Can't wait to see some BFP. 💕

Supermathsdoc · 28/09/2020 15:51

@HollowayL30 good question! Have we had any BFP yet? Would be great to hear some success stories!
