Hey ladies,

Thought I'd start a new thread for anyone new to this like me 🙋🏼‍♀️

We're TTC after a change of plans when COVID postponed our wedding 🙄

Currently cycle 1 of TTC WITH AF due in 3 days.. I think I can feel it coming tbh.

Didn't use any form of ovulation tracker other than Flo (which I've used to track period for years) this cycle.

How's everyone doing? I did a pregnancy test yesterday and it's now negative - crap! My bleeding is really light now, I'm just confused as the amount of blood I've lost in total is quite a bit less than a normal period, but I'd be expecting it to be at least as much?
I'll phone the doctor tomorrow but not sure they'll be able to do/say much.
This TTC business is a bit of a headfuck isn't it.

PinkPlantCase · 01/09/2020 10:10

@Meg87 I hope the doctor can offer you some insight, though I imagine it might be just a wait and see 😏

Have you been able to talk to anyone IRL about it all? It can be all quite isolating can’t it.

I’m 6DPO and and absolutely terrible at the 2 week wait. My periods due on the 9th so could technically test on the 4th with an early response test.

I’ve been feeling quite sicky, I don’t know if it’s a pregnancy symptom or just my mind playing tricks 😖

AtLeastThreeDrinks · 01/09/2020 13:19

Hi all, hope I'm not too late to join! I'm the same as @Plm28, came off the pill at the end of June after a decade on it. I'm using a period tracker (Clue) but not tracking ovulation, although according to Clue my period is now four days late. I feel too scared to test! I keep thinking my period will arrive, although my cycles were always regular pre-pill. I think I'm nervous as we weren't really actively trying this month and I've been out and drinking! If AF doesn't show tomorrow I think it'll be time to test.

hereforallthehelp · 01/09/2020 13:22

Hello! Hope I can join in on here after reading for a few months. Tried without tracking anything for the past few months (As everyone told me how easy it is and to just let it happen) but nothing did! So I ordered OPKs and Clearblue Ovulation tracker and got a static smiley this morning - just so happy to see that at this moment in time! Fingers crossed!

Plm28 · 01/09/2020 15:10

@AtLeastThreeDrinks welcome and good luck :) my tracker apps told me last month my period was late got me a bit excited however my cycles just haven’t gone back into normal

AtLeastThreeDrinks · 02/09/2020 08:27

Thanks @Plm28! I did wonder whether my body is still adjusting, I've no idea what my periods are like anymore and I'm basing any knowledge on my cycle of how it was when I was 18! If it's not here by the weekend I'll test then as it'll be about a week late. Hope everyone else is doing well Smile

ER20 · 02/09/2020 08:48

Hey everyone,

Got married in July, decided we would start trying after my September period.

28 day cycle, 6 day period.

Often no obvious signs of ovulation, sometimes a change in discharge and sex drive but some months nothing.

Had unprotected sex on day 8 and 9 of my cycle, assumed safe as would ovulate around the standard 14 days but from looking online actually ovulating around 14 days isn't always the case - naive I know! Then if sperm can stay alive around 5 days after then there’s every chance... Wasn’t actively trying then but not being careful and have use the pull out method since.

Due my period on the 10th of September but yesterday had some light spotting, just one lot and that’s it since. I'm extremely tired (in bed for 9pm and falling asleep on the sofa!), headache severe back ache and feel nauseous.

Way too early to test..

PinkPlantCase · 02/09/2020 10:11

@ER20 on the bright side it would be great if you got pregnant without actually having to try!

AF is due on the 9th for me. I’m thinking of doing my first test this Friday just to see if it shows anything yet.

izzyboo22 · 02/09/2020 10:30

Hi, hoping I can join the ttc 1st baby gang Smile Planning to start ttc this month/from whenever my period decides to show up - on CD33 so already 3 days late with no sign (definitely not already pregnant). Planning to stop drinking while ttc so trying for a while will likely become a dead giveaway to friends and family, but its so hard to predict - could take a few weeks, could take years! Good luck to everyone here, I hope you all get your BFPs soon

unCliche · 02/09/2020 11:21

Hi all,

I'm new here too also TTC my first! I got married in March (week before lockdown - absolute nightmare) and my husband and I decided we'd start trying in October (actually managed to negotiate it down to end of September).

Anyway, because I'm a bit of a paranoid weirdo and I've never gotten accidentally pregnant before (which in my mind could mean something's wrong with me), I asked him if we could DTD just once when I'm most fertile and for some reason he agreed.

So we DTD either on the day of my ovulation or the day before. I'm 4DPO today. I'm being realistic and not expecting pregnancy but it's fun to see if anything will come of it! Grin

izzyboo22 · 02/09/2020 11:48

Congratulations on getting married @unCliche Smile

I know the feeling on negotiating best time to start, my partner and I have been having the discussion on and off for about 18 months now, and definitely had a few months of being less cautious around contraception (no pregnancy scares), so I've convinced myself it may take a while.
I recently changed jobs and so now feels like a good time to take the plunge (other than COVID hanging over everything).

Fingers crossed this is your month!

unCliche · 02/09/2020 11:57

Thanks a lot @izzyboo22!

Yeah, I feel like there's always something new in life you have to consider before TTC, new job, buying a house, COVID, etc, but life always has a funny way of working out so might as well just go for it.

Let's hope life surprises us and we can get pregnant in our first month of trying! Fingers crossed for you too!!

PinkPlantCase · 03/09/2020 07:17

Morning all, I caved today and took a test at 8DPO, got a bit BFN but I think I feel a bit happier for doing one. I just want to know whey I’ve felt so sicky 🤭 hope it’s not the worry of it all.

Think I’ll leave it a week till I next test

AtLeastThreeDrinks · 03/09/2020 09:24

@unCliche I feel the same, zeros 'scares' or 'accidents' so I've never taken a test before! Not sure if that's unusual but all of my female friends have had to at some point.

Sorry to hear that @PinkPlantCase. I read earlier that 20% of women who are pregnant who test before their missed period will get a false negative. Not to build your hopes up but I just thought that was interesting. I'm trying to hold out til the weekend! My partner wanted to test last night but work is mad this week and I don't know if I can cope with news either way until the weekend Grin

unCliche · 03/09/2020 14:23

@AtLeastThreeDrinks for now, I'm going to assume it means that we're extra safe and very responsible Halo Good luck with your test, let's hope these next two days fly by so you can get the news you're hoping for!

@PinkPlantCase I do also think that it's a little bit early, so give it a few more days and see what happens!

beckyBP · 03/09/2020 18:25

Hey ladies!

Been super MIA (been away and just tried to chill the eff out!)

Today is cycle day 11 of cycle 3 of TTC. Did a LH test this morning which was low as expected as still quite early.

DTD last night and going to try and do SMEP this month.

Hope everyone is ok? Xx

Meg87 · 03/09/2020 20:02

Hey all, and welcome to the newbies Grin

Hope you managed to get away from it all @beckyBP. I've only had one cycle and I'm already feeling a bit stressed! I was thinking about everything in bed last night/this morning and getting all panicky. So I've just had a chemical pregnancy (or lost the pregnancy just before the 6 week mark, not really sure what counts as a chemical pregnancy!), and now I'm a bit paranoid about my partner's sperm as he and his previous partner were trying for a baby for a while and she had two miscarriages (both around the 11 week mark), followed by an ectopic pregnancy and then they stopped trying. I know early miscarriages are fairly common but I got myself into a bit of a state last night worrying that I'll never be able to hang on to a pregnancy if there are any chromosome issues with his sperm. And I'm only one cycle in, this is crazy!

@PinkPlantCase you never know, it could be too early to test. Doesn't it sometimes take a couple of weeks for the egg to implant, so you wouldn't get a positive test before that?

PinkPlantCase · 03/09/2020 20:09

I know I was being a bit silly for testing so early if I’m honest. It’s just so easy to get caught up with it all.

I also went down the rabbit hole of searching ‘BFP 8DPO’ 🤦‍♀️

We’re away for a long weekend now so should give us some headspace.

izzyboo22 · 04/09/2020 12:58

Thanks @Meg87 for the welcome, I’m so sorry to hear about your chemical pregnancy, and really hope that the rest of your ttc journey goes smoothly.

@PinkPlantCase still very early days so keeping fingers crossed for you, enjoy your weekend away and try to keep your mind off things!

AF definitely on its way finally - 5/6 days late which is very unusual as I have been regular for past 2 years since coming off the pill - so trying not to read too much into that, but at least it means cycle 1 can begin!

AtLeastThreeDrinks · 04/09/2020 14:10

Enjoy your weekend away @PinkPlantCase!

I tested this morning as still no AF but it came out negative. Period is six days late, but I have been dropping things and knocking stuff off counters today, which I'd completely forgotten is a pre-menstrual symptom for me Grin

beckyBP · 04/09/2020 21:46

Sorry to hear about the chemical @Meg87 it's such an overwhelming process in general so don't feel like your crazy!

I think give it a few months and if not see if your partner is happy to have tests x

unCliche · 08/09/2020 12:45

Hey ladies! Any news??

@AtLeastThreeDrinks, did AF show up?

AF isn't due until the 12th but last night the strangest thing happened. I cooked a meal and when I went to taste it, it was horrid and I actually proclaimed to DH that it was the worst thing I've ever made in my life. DH said it tasted fine and I was just like whatever, he's only saying that because he loves me (and will eat anything). It didn't even register in my mind that it could be pregnancy related!

AtLeastThreeDrinks · 08/09/2020 15:26

Hey @unCliche, no AF yet Confused I'm now 10 days late. Going to take another test tomorrow morning, although I have no other symptoms (boobs not as sore and cramping has stopped) so I'm not expecting a positive. But if it's negative I might book an appt with the nurse to see if anything else is going on.

How strange about your dinner! Have you taken a test? Fingers crossed for you!

unCliche · 08/09/2020 16:52

Oh wow @AtLeastThreeDrinks! I really hope you get your BFP. I'm sending positivity and baby dust your way! Keep us updated but I really hope it is good news for you!

I have no idea. It took me a while to figure out that it could be pregnancy related, so when I did, I went down and ate an olive (because I definitely know what an olive should taste like) and that had a bitter aftertaste too. I have tested but it's been a BFN so far, but I am only 9 DPO today.

AtLeastThreeDrinks · 08/09/2020 17:04

Ahh thanks so much, and same to you! Let us know if you test again!
