Is anyone TTC after Mirena Coil removal?

EJay84 · 08/07/2020 09:32

Had my coil removed a week past on Monday to TTC baby no 3. I'm 36 soon, 9 years older than at my last pregnancy so no idea if it will be harder this time. My other 2, we conceived first cycle. I don't even know when or if to expect a period so that I can time when I might be ovulating, since I haven't had a period on the coil for 5 yrs. Not even really looking for advice I suppose, just to see if anyone is in same boat with TTC after having a coil removed?

Hi @LaceyMermaid nice to hear!! Did you test for ovulation last month at all.? Fingers crossed August turns out good for you🙂

sup99 · 06/08/2020 16:14

Thanks @Amy259 !!! 🤞 for your BFP this month😍

LaceyMermaid · 06/08/2020 16:34

@sup99 yes I did it all month until I got a peak test and I temped too. Got a peak opk on day 17 after having Mirena out but don’t think I did actually ovulate because my temp didn’t change enough and that’s the best indicator that it has happened. So hopefully this month I’ll get peak opks and a change in temps!

sup99 · 06/08/2020 16:42

@LaceyMermaid Ohh i have no idea about testing temps n all.! Would you recommend any app that you're using?

LaceyMermaid · 06/08/2020 16:53

@sup99 I’ve been using femometer as I’ve got the opks and you take a pic on the app and it tells you whether it’s low/high/peak etc and you can put all your other info in there too like temps. But I know lots like fertility friend.
With your temp you have to get a bbt thermometer and you take your temp at the same time every morning before you move. No drinking, getting up to wee first of whatever. Then you log it on the app and basically after you ovulate you should get a shift of temp so they are higher consistently for at least 3 temps and that shows you ovulated. Then it usually stays up around that temp until AF comes. If it remains high when AF due or late it’s a good indicator you’re going to get a BFN.
Apparently it’s the best way to know you’ve ovulated because opks tell you your body is trying to not if you actually have!
Sorry for the essay!

sup99 · 06/08/2020 18:46

@LaceyMermaid aw that's so sweet of you to explain everything patiently. Thanks a lot! I will look for that thermometer & try this cycle.🤞

LaceyMermaid · 06/08/2020 18:55

@sup99 That’s ok! I’ve been reading up on all of it as I need a targeted approach as time is not in my side! I just ordered the Femometer bbt thermometer and it seems good

sup99 · 07/08/2020 10:14

Gonna get that as well x @LaceyMermaid !! My AF arrived today 💆‍♀️🤞

Amy259 · 07/08/2020 10:33

Ahh @sup99 that’s great! Yeah I track BBT too, the rise after the LH peak is pretty much the only way (without bloods) to confirm ov definitely happened. Tracking both has felt a little overwhelming/obsessive at times but I guess if you want it quickly, you need to know!
I use the Premom app and find it really easy and straightforward to read, I’ll attach my graph in case that’s any help. The orange is LH and blue is my temps, if your therm comes soon and you start tracking whilst in AF yours will be low then should rise after your spike x

Is anyone TTC after Mirena Coil removal?
AKC88 · 07/08/2020 11:04

Hey ladies, I have been getting positive OPK's the last 3 days. 1st day faint but visible, yesterday morning visible but still lighter than the test line and then last night and this morning dark. I used OPK's for my last pregnancy and did not realise the complexity of them I think Smile ... i was lucky and got pregnant the first month that time.

does this mean i will ovulate today or once the test shows negative again?

i haven't actually had a period since having my coil removed (just a withdrawal bleed).

LaceyMermaid · 07/08/2020 11:11

@sup99 oh no, never mind onwards to temping this cycle!
@AKC88 the best way to know is to log them on and app that reads them for you. But generally if the second line is darker than the control line then you should assume you will ovulate within 12-36 hours of it so get going!

LaceyMermaid · 07/08/2020 11:11

@Amy259 I’m hoping I get a nice rise of temp like you this month!

Amy259 · 07/08/2020 11:42

@LaceyMermaid that made me laugh, “so get going!”. Im sure you will, you’re so on it! When I look back at when I first got my coil out I can see the temp rise then too, but this cycle I’ve tried to be much more consistent with timing. It’s my first cycle TTC but I feel like I’ll be pretty disappointed with a BFN purely because I feel like everything was fairly spot on... would be easier if it didn’t happen first time but I also hadn’t temped/tracked lh, DTD at the exact “right” time!

Yeah @AKC88 exactly what Lacey said, don’t wait for it to fall because sperm being there earlier than the egg is better than trying to get them there after you ovulated. As soon as it goes positive get to it that day, the next and even the day after if you’ve both got it in you 😂

LaceyMermaid · 07/08/2020 13:01

@Amy259 crazy isn’t it! My first 2 were accidents (on the pill) my third I just said oh let’s have another, coil out didn’t think any more about it and was pregnant the next month! Maybe I should take that approach again but with my age and being a little more hefty these days I thought I’d try to be more accurate! If it doesn’t work first few months I might give up tracking and just relax.

Amy259 · 07/08/2020 13:32

@LaceyMermaid I’ve read so many people saying that they only conceived when they relaxed and stopped thinking/stressing about it.. but that’s not my approach to anything in life, I’m a planner! So I can’t imagine ever being chilled about it 🙈 so here’s hoping science beats stress haha.

LaceyMermaid · 08/08/2020 13:12

How is everyone today? @Amy259 how’s the tww?
@EJay84 did you test or are you holding out?

Amy259 · 08/08/2020 13:18

Hi @LaceyMermaid! The tww is not treating me well haha, going out of my mind a little bit. I’m in the premom Facebook group, never post but like to read other’s experiences. But may need to leave it because seeing it pop up on my feed makes me overthink everything 😂 so, so many people posting that at 5DPO they had symptoms like sore breasts, cramping etc and I have none of those... which could mean nothing, but I’d like a symptom or two to make me feel better! Trying to keep busy to take my mind off the waiting game.

How are you doing? What cycle day are you on now?

LaceyMermaid · 08/08/2020 13:37

@Amy259 yes I know exactly what you mean! I was thinking that today I need to stop reading all about it all the time it’s probably making me more stressy! If it’s any help I don’t remember having any symptoms at all with my 3, maybe sore boobs when af was due but didn’t come. And I never tested until after I’d missed a period!

LaceyMermaid · 08/08/2020 13:39

@Amy259 I’m cd7 so coming up to my fertile time hopefully! 🤞🏻

EJay84 · 08/08/2020 14:22

I caved in and have tested the past 3 days lol. Obviously negative at this point 🙈 I've counted DPO from the day I got a peak OPK though and I think that's wrong. I'm probably only 8DPO rather than 10DPO right now.

This 2WW is an absolute killer. I don't know how many times I can go through this! I had quite intense cramping yest and a pulling sensation in the bottom right hand side of my back and I also kept getting shooting pains in my boobs and a couple of weird shooting pains actually up my vagina. I'm hoping these were all positive signs of something sticking 🤞

Amy, I'm the same as you. I'm a planner and I am so impatient. When I decide I want something, I want it now lol x

OP posts:
LaceyMermaid · 08/08/2020 14:54

@EJay84 I’m definitely impatient! and if I do something I like to get on with it! But 8dpo is still early so keep the faith!

EJay84 · 08/08/2020 15:28

Yeah, I know. I'm so impatient I got 2 days ahead of myself 🤣

Amy259 · 08/08/2020 17:53

@EJay84 those are all really positive signs! I think I’d feel better if I had a symptom or two haha.

I’m trying to stop googling and reading into things because it can’t be good for you. Heading for a bbq at a friend’s house tonight so hopefully that’ll keep me distracted for the rest of the day 😂 it’s so lovely to have this chat and be able to speak to people in the same boat! X

EJay84 · 08/08/2020 18:10

I never have any luck so trying not to get my hopes up too much. I'm reading into every tiny detail. Have a lovely night. We have lovely weather in Scotland today too. Just waiting on my kebabs coming off the BBQ and going to chill. Hubby's nightshift so I have peace. Could be doing with a wee wine right enough but not touching anything until AF appears x

OP posts:
Amy259 · 08/08/2020 18:47

Ahh @EJay84 I didn’t realise you were in Scotland too! Whereabouts? We’re both from Glasgow, but currently live in Falkirk. I’m going to have some wine tonight (another TTC thing I’ve been googling 😂) because at 5DPO apparently there can be no harm done then that’ll be me until testing/AF x
