Is anyone TTC after Mirena Coil removal?

Had my coil removed a week past on Monday to TTC baby no 3. I'm 36 soon, 9 years older than at my last pregnancy so no idea if it will be harder this time. My other 2, we conceived first cycle. I don't even know when or if to expect a period so that I can time when I might be ovulating, since I haven't had a period on the coil for 5 yrs. Not even really looking for advice I suppose, just to see if anyone is in same boat with TTC after having a coil removed?

If you get a peak @Amy259 then you should ovulate within 12-36 hours so usually you assume next day then the day after that is 1dpo. The most reliable method of knowing is seeing a temp shift though as opks don’t necessarily mean you’ve ovulated just that you’re body is trying to. Whereas a temp shift pretty much means you have ovulated so go by that.

It's a total minefield isn't it? I have no idea how I conceived my first 2 so quickly. I didn't track anything or BD that regular, just here n there in the hope it would happen. I bet I overthink it to extreme this time and it won't work! x

@EJay84 yep me too! Typical isn’t it!

Athena1985 · 01/08/2020 21:15

Had my coil out May 22nd got some spotting 2 days later , I then had a proper period 28th June , I “guessed” 2 weeks later I would be ovulating ( never used strips before so just guessed an average of 28 days as I’ve had coils in for ten years ( obviously one after the other ) and I am now 5 weeks pregnant ! I guess what I’m saying is wait till you have a proper period and then you will know roughly about two weeks later you’ll be fertile but if you want to know the exact I’d deffo try ovulation strips , I’m 35 this is my first and I have been using the coil since I was 22 so you can deffo get pregnant pretty quickly !

@Athena1985 I'm so glad you are a success story. I had colil out then period 2 weeks later and used test strips from day 10-16 until I got my peak. Fingers crossed we've managed to catch a wee egg. Massive congratulations ❤

Fingers crossed for you- don’t forget to post the outcome :) and Thankyou :) I really did not think I would get pregnant this quickly after having the coil in for so long :) there is hope definatLy :)

LaceyMermaid · 01/08/2020 22:17

@Athena1985 fab news Congrats! That’s exactly what happened when I conceived my third son, so as long as I can finally get AF I’m hoping I can do it again soon after!

Amy259 · 02/08/2020 14:08

@Athena1985 thanks for posting - amazing news, congratulations! ♥️ I’ve had my long wait after removal and my first period, so fingers crossed that happens to me too!

@EJay84 it makes me laugh how much we’re taught in school that if we’re not careful we’ll all end up pregnant when actually getting it right is pretty specific science! 😂 I had dreams last night about ovulating, definitely stressing that I’m stressing too much 😂

Got my “high” reading on my OPK this morning, highest so far at 0.95, and my flashing smiley on my CB digital ov went static. So will check OPK a couple of times today and tomorrow but can’t imagine peak is far!! We BD Thurs, yest and this morning so might give him a rest until tomorrow night now 😂 hope you’re all having a lovely weekend! X

EJay84 · 02/08/2020 15:02

You too @Amy259. You're kinder than me lol. I made DH came pay me a visit every day for a week 🙈 Tell me about it, I was terrified of getting pregnant in my younger years. It's such a small window of opportunity x

Amy259 · 02/08/2020 15:48

@EJay84 I’m not sure I’d get away with that, he’d start thinking of it as a chore I think. Once a week would be fine for him normally! How are you feeling? Started the dreaded symptom spotting yet..? I’ve not even ov yet and I’m having to stop my head from running away with ideas of how to tell OH/parents 🙈 x

EJay84 · 02/08/2020 18:25

@Amy259 Oh I'm symptom spotting alright. Noted every last thing down in the Ovia app just incase lol. I've had mild cramping for days and been up peeing several times a night and then every hour in the morning until about lunch time. I never wake up for a pee usually. Been watching YouTube videos for each DPO and then people line progressions on their pregnancy tests from 8DPO onwards. For someone who up to a few months ago was never having another child as long as they lived, I've taken quite a U Turn and become obsessive. I'm actually a nightmare 😂 I've already picked TShirts for my 2 kids to break my imaginary news and worked out my potential due date. Oh. and made a list of boys and girls names 🙈

🤣 @EJay84 I’ve been a bit mad symptom spotting but I’m going to try to stop now as I think it’s quite likely I’ve not even ovulated yet 😩 its been a month since removal and nothing 🤷🏼‍♀️

Amy259 · 02/08/2020 20:43

@LaceyMermaid did you have a withdrawal bleed? I had to have my coil out in hosp because my strings were missing, and the gynae told me to treat the first day of my withdrawal bleed as CD1 and go from there x

LaceyMermaid · 02/08/2020 20:44

No, no withdrawableed nothing ☹️ @Amy259

Amy259 · 02/08/2020 20:49

Oh man, fingers crossed something happens for you soon! I was 5 weeks after removal.

Here’s one for everyone.. what’s your rule with alcohol when TTC?! @LaceyMermaid @EJay84 @Mich2020 @Athena1985

Karen1h · 02/08/2020 20:53

I had baby #3 at the age of 46 (yes really!) three months ago. Conceiving her took a year following Mirena removal (but given my age we were lucky to conceive at all let alone have a healthy baby born at almost 37 weeks). Periods returned to more regular than pre-coil frequency, very quickly after coil removal.
Good luck!

Alderaan · 02/08/2020 20:56

It took us sixteen months. I was 34. I had previously been pregnant at age 20 and at 25, both times without trying.

LaceyMermaid · 02/08/2020 21:03

@Amy259 I’ve just realised I’m bleeding a little so maybe this is it finally! 🙌🏻

EJay84 · 02/08/2020 21:25

I'm not too strict but if I think there's a chance I could be Pg I wouldn't drink. I have a BBQ on Fri at 9DPO so plan to test then. Even if it's negative. I probably won't drink because it's still early. As soon as AF shows I'll be drowning in wine lol x

OP posts:
LaceyMermaid · 02/08/2020 21:33

I’m a rubbish person for that question sorry because I don’t really drink 🤣

Amy259 · 03/08/2020 10:00

@LaceyMermaid how’s things this morning? AF in full flow I hope? 🤞🏻

@EJay84 yeah I think I feel the same. I saw on another thread that some women stop drinking from when their fertile window starts until AF and realised I haven’t even thought about that, and definitely had wine this weekend. If I knew I was preg I wouldn’t of course, but hadn’t thought about around ovulation...

TraceyAnne21 · 03/08/2020 10:06

I had my mirena removed in Feb this year (age 43 with a history of endometriosis) and it only took us about 2months to conceive! It can happen very quickly! Shock

LaceyMermaid · 03/08/2020 10:13

@Amy259 no! 😭 just had some spotting that’s all 🤷🏼‍♀️ Getting cramps but nothing else! So annoying! I really thought this was it!

LaceyMermaid · 03/08/2020 10:14

@TraceyAnne21 thank you that’s reassuring to hear! Congratulations! Did your periods come straight back?

Amy259 · 03/08/2020 10:30

@TraceyAnne21 congratulations! Lovely to hear some positive news!

@LaceyMermaid have you heard of Agnus Castus? I read and read and read about it for about a week before I finally bought it... and it may have been a total coincidence but within 36hrs AF arrived. I’ve taken it ever since too, and all my normal hormonal symptoms (bloating, acne, moods etc) have been WAY better. I’d really recommend it x
