Is anyone TTC after Mirena Coil removal?

EJay84 · 08/07/2020 09:32

Had my coil removed a week past on Monday to TTC baby no 3. I'm 36 soon, 9 years older than at my last pregnancy so no idea if it will be harder this time. My other 2, we conceived first cycle. I don't even know when or if to expect a period so that I can time when I might be ovulating, since I haven't had a period on the coil for 5 yrs. Not even really looking for advice I suppose, just to see if anyone is in same boat with TTC after having a coil removed?

@Amy259 that’s really interesting I was a bit put off it because I read somewhere about someone that said it messed up their cycle! But I might get some and try it. I think my AF is trying to come, still spotting. If I bought some and started risking it tomorrow would that help so you think? Or shall I wait and see if it develops first? 🧐

Amy259 · 03/08/2020 13:00

@LaceyMermaid so from the hours I’ve spent reading up on it, it seems that if you have regular cycles it can sometimes mess them up. But that tends to only happen if you have a short luteal phase, because one of the benefits is that it can lengthen them (which increases your chance of sticky implantation). So say someone had a regular 24 day cycle, it would probably lengthen it a little. But if you’re irregular/coming off BC it usually regulates them. I took it for that reason, but since discovered a whole host of uses for it - helps with progesterone, increases EGWM so can reduce risk of miscarriage, stronger ovulation, triggers ov in some women who can’t, reduced bloating/mood swings/PMS signs... the list goes on!

I think the biggest “neg” is that it’s pretty much untested in pregnancy so it can’t be classed as safe, but the general rule of thumb is you stop when you get a positive test (or your day of ov if you’re really worried) x

LaceyMermaid · 03/08/2020 13:07

@Amy259 Ok thank you! I’ll get some and take it if this AF doesn’t get going. I used to be like clockwork and very regular before the coil 🙄 but I guess it’s given me 15 years of no periods so can’t complain too much!

AKC88 · 03/08/2020 14:40

Hi,

I had my mirena removed 9th July, had a bleed straight away the next day that lasted 4/5 days. Haven't had any OPK's yet so I'm thinking that was just a removal bleed and I haven't had a period yet.

From everything I read before having it removed I expected my cycle to return to normal really quickly but hopefully once a proper period comes in things should kickstart.

We aeren't actually intending to start to properly try until October but now the coil is out I'm impatient!! Grin

Amy259 · 03/08/2020 15:07

Hi @AKC88 ☺️, your removal sounds similar to mine. I had mine out 11th June, had a withdrawal bleed for a couple of days, then what felt like the longest wait for my period to arrive. It came 5 weeks later on 16th July, lasted about 8 days, now today I’m ovulating (I hope!) as LH peak was yesterday. Now for the wait....

I was the same, totally going along the lines of just seeing what happened then my long wait for my first proper period made me realise how impatient I was to just get started 😂

LaceyMermaid · 03/08/2020 15:16

@Amy259 when do you take the Agnus castus and how much? I’m reading loads of conflicting advice!

Amy259 · 03/08/2020 15:20

@LaceyMermaid I think the recommended is up to 1600mg a day but I only day 800, just because that’s the tablets I bought. I take one (so 400mg) in the morning along with the other vits I take, then another one with dinner.

If you’re getting signs of AF and unsure, then maybe wait a couple of days in case it comes on it’s own? I had zero spotting but over 2 weeks of PMS symptoms and feeling really rotten, was at the end of my tether!

LaceyMermaid · 03/08/2020 15:27

Thanks @Amy259 I’ll see what happens over the next few days. I’m still spotting (probably more that spotting but not actually AF!) I can definitely appreciate being at the end of your tether!

Amy259 · 04/08/2020 12:33

@LaceyMermaid how are you feeling today? Any better on the spotting front..?

@EJay84 how about you? Any signs of implantation or anything? I’m not sure how you’re doing this, 1DPO here and I can’t imagine lasting until day 10/11! I’m still not really back at work so I think that’s adding to it - not enough distraction.

We’re due to get married on 28th Aug so I have my wedding dressing fitting today at 2pm! Excited but also feels weird because we don’t even know if it’ll go ahead yet... hope you’re all having a good Tuesday! X

EJay84 · 04/08/2020 12:38

@Amy259 not sure if it's signs or all my head lol. I had dull cramping on and off all night and have backache today. I've been up the past 3 nights constantly peeing, which is unusual. It will just be wishful thinking as I'm not that lucky.

That's great news, I hope it all goes ahead for you. I'm sure a lot of planning and emotion has gone into it. Ooh, exciting times ahead for you!

I have no idea how I'm doing this 2WW. It's absolutely dragging in. Gonna start testing Fri when I'm 9DPO. I won't be able to wait any longer x

@EJay84 ahhh these are great signs! Ive got everything crossed for you.

Thank you! Who knows when it’ll be or what it’ll look like... but I’m hoping it can be the 28th!

I think I’ll cave and want to start testing earlier too but might be super disappointed if I see a BFN so I’ll hold out if I can. The CB early signs tests say you can use them 6 days out from a missed period.. which would be about 8/9DPO if you go by AF being due 14 days after ov..? X

EJay84 · 04/08/2020 12:48

That's what I'm thinking. I have ones like that as well as some cheapies. I read the leaflets and the 6 days before ones pick up when your HCG is 10, whereas the others don't pick up until 25. I won't believe anything anyway until I get the word 'pregnant' on a Clear Blue Digital. I want one of these to show the kids. I've even planned which TShirts I'm buying my other 2 to break my imaginary news 🙈😂

I'm keeping everything crossed for you for the 28th x

Ooh exciting @Amy259 I hope it goes ahead for you! AF fully turned up so at least I know where I am now! Hoping it means I’m up and running!
@EJay84 that all sounds very promising! Tww is absolute torture!

Amy259 · 04/08/2020 21:52

@EJay84 what are the T-shirts like? That’s so cute! If I’m lucky enough to get a BFP this month (trying not to get my hopes up) I would find out just before the wedding so my plan would be to keep it quiet and have a baby grow or something to give my OH during the couple photos when we’re off somewhere with just the photographer - so we had it on camera to keep! But you know... trying not to get ahead of myself... 😂 I’ve lost the plot 🙈

@LaceyMermaid great news! Now at least you know where you’re at.

LaceyMermaid · 04/08/2020 22:05

@Amy259 yes I’m happy I’m in a cycle now! Hopefully upwards from here!
@EJay84 Cute how you’re both planning your little ways of telling family! I don’t think my ds x 3 will be too fussed and at 16, 15 and 11 cute T-shirt’s are out!!

EJay84 · 04/08/2020 22:18

Lol @LaceyMermaid. My little girl has been asking for years for a baby sibling. @amy259 I saw ones that say 'oldest' and then youngest with a cross through it then 'middle child' and I was gonna buy a wee babygrow and make sure I have a Clear Blue digital with 'pregnant' on it. x

CD5 for me here and AF gone. Let’s the POAS commence soon! How is everyone? @EJay84 @Amy259 you’re both in tww arent you?

Amy259 · 06/08/2020 11:30

Hi @LaceyMermaid, ahh that’s great, one step closer! Yeah, only 3DPO here and finding it hard to distract myself from the wait. Although I’ll be tempted next wed/thurs I think I’ll try to hold off until next Friday to test, which would be 11DPO.. but we’ll see haha. Really hoping for some wee signs before then!
How are you doing @EJay84? Have you managed to hold out for your first test day tomorrow? And I meant to reply and say your T-shirt idea is super cute!

EJay84 · 06/08/2020 11:34

🤣🤣🤣 Nope! Tested yesterday and today at 7 and 8 DPO. Both negative obviously but keeping everything crossed. Been extra crampy the past couple of days and woke with a sore throat this morning. x

Hey lovely ladies.. hope it's ok for me to join in here. Got my mirena out July 8, had bleed from next day for 4-5 days and haven't checked if i ovulated. Badly waiting for AF to arrive and go quickly so going to be our first official cycle TTC for baby#2!!Smile

Amy259 · 06/08/2020 12:04

@EJay84 haha that made me laugh out loud! What tests are you using for early detection? I’m considering ordering the easy@home hcg strips.
Welcome @sup99! Hopefully your wait isn’t too much longer and you can get down to business ☺️

EJay84 · 06/08/2020 12:33

They're actually just cheap ones from Home Bargains but they say they detect up to 6 days early. I'm not even at that point yet lol, just impatient. They come in individual boxes. I think they're Fast Response or something. I have a 'Triple Check' pack of Clear Blue for when I think I see a line on a cheap one. It also has a digital in it. They were £10 off Amazon. I'll bring out the big guns when I'm more sure I am. Want a digital to show the kids if I manage to get a BFP eventually x

Amy259 · 06/08/2020 12:52

@EJay84 I’ll have a look in Tesco when I’m there later on and if not maybe take a trip to home bargains. I have no real idea of my length of cycle so I’ll need to go on DPO rather than days before AF due, because I don’t know when 6 days before is x

LaceyMermaid · 06/08/2020 13:55

Hi @sup99 I’m the same. Just had my first bleed/AF a month after removal so this will be my first proper cycle. 🤞🏻
@EJay84 you should fine out over the next few days then! I’ve heard sore theorist is a good sign
@Amy259 a little wait for you yet then!
I’ve heard frers are the best for early detection.

LaceyMermaid · 06/08/2020 13:56

Whoops meant sore throat!
