Tracking your cycle and possible BFP using RHR - part 2

Hi ladies,

This is for all of us with heart rate monitors who wish to help each other analyse the RHR patterns throughout our cycles.

Early research shows there's a correlation with increasing RHR and BFPs - so let's try and spot some together!

See attached my current chart - at 10DPO my RHR is at it's all time high this cycle and has not started to decline for AF yet. Fingers crossed!

@CurlyEmz ah curly that's so shit on all counts! AF and redundancy! I guess the crux is, if you get another job will you not need to have worked there x amount of time before being eligible for their mat pay? Or are you in a type of work that would mean you'd rely solely on the statutory pay?

AF seems to have arrived again lol! Heavier than last time and accompanied by cramps. What the actual feck. Left a note at the GPs asking what she wants to do about my day 3 bloods which were clearly not day 3 lol. At least this explains the high temps! RHR has funnily dropped further to 67 today so at least that's making more sense :)

@Moominmiss my periods sound like yours! and just like you I worry it's a sign of perimenopause. You can get tests for that online if you want? Pretty sure I have a referral code for letsgetchecked.com for either £30 or 30% if you need it. Only reason I haven't done it is because I know I can get it on the NHS but I think if you already have kids they won't confirm it until you've gone like a year without a period?

@Juno231 it sucks doesn’t it, worrying that somethings going on but no idea what.
It’s like, it’s my body, I should know what’s happening. But I don’t, and it’s the not knowing that’s so tough. Like if I knew I was officially in perimenopause then I’d stop ttc and I think find it easier to accept. But until I’m told it’s not going to happen then I don’t feel ready to stop.
I quietly hope that with my age it’s just trickier to get that good egg and that so far it’s just been ‘bad luck’ but the longer it goes on the more concerning it gets.

I’d be really interested in an at home test. So is it literally to tell you if your body has started the pre menopause phase?

Thank you

Moominmiss · 10/07/2020 12:16

@Juno231 I’ve just had a look at the website. Would these be the tests I’d need?

If so These are the blood tests I’ve just been referred for with a fertility specialist. FSH, LH, Prolactin, Testosterone, Thyroxine, and then progesterone on day 21.

If it’s none of these what is it I’d need to do for perimenopause? Would it be the AMH one to check how many eggs I have left?

@Moominmiss you're fine then as it's the first test you mentioned. Essentially elevated FSH is an indicator of perimenopause. I will say though it takes years to actually hit menopause and you can continue to TTC in the mean time! It's definitely not a end to TTC if that's what you think (at least from what I've read!)

OP posts:
Moominmiss · 10/07/2020 12:59

@Juno231 ok thank you, that’s good to know that they’ll be doing the right tests. Will be keeping my fingers crossed for normal FSH levels then!

I know, I’ve read that perimenopause doesn’t mean actual menopause just yet and that it’s not impossible to fall pregnant, I just think it would kind of signal the end of the road for me.

mumof23188 · 10/07/2020 17:37

@CurlyEmz ahh no way! I’m sorry AF came 😩. Hope you are ok.

@SarahTTC2020 sorry you’ve had a drop. It’s horrible when you know you are out 😩.

@Juno231 your body is really on a wind up isn’t it. Hopefully the doctors get back you you with what to do. How strange!

Nothing much going on here RHR wise, not moved from 63bpm again!! I however am feeling awful, nausea aswell as being sick, heartburn and so tired!!

wingingit123 · 11/07/2020 08:26

Hi I ovulated on the 4th and after I had a massive dip now my RHR is slowly rising does this look promising?

I'm 7dpo now and no other symptoms we've been ttc for around 3 years

Just popping my chart in cos I think I'm not too far from ovulation...I've been using OPKs this cycle so it's been interesting to watch my RHR alongside it this time around. Highly recommend it if like me you're driving yourself crazy trying to work out ovulation just by using your RHR - I've found this month that the big spike isn't the day of ovulation for me (like I had previously assumed)
Chart shows CD4-14 and I've also stuck on a wee graph I've made up to chart my OPKs (...yeah I've lost it entirely)
I've yet to get my peak reading but looking at the RHR chart I reckon it's probably coming soon 🤞🏻

SarahTTC2020 · 11/07/2020 10:29

@wingingit123 looks promising so far yes 🤞 mine usually dips 3-6bpm over a couple of days before AF turns up, although drinking alcohol affects it throughout my cycle so mine never look exactly the same

poptypingchef · 11/07/2020 11:42

Mine did a following pattern and went back up again. It has come down a couple of clicks but not to AF level. I’m due tomorrow and I’m putting off testing for a few days yet. Nothing brings on AF more tag. Wasting a test 😂

poptypingchef · 11/07/2020 11:43

*than wasting a test

Hello! Fitbit day I'm in my 5 day fertile window and my chart looks like this. I had CM today so we have dtd.

Does that sound like it could be the right time for Ovulation?

Hi everyone! Hope you don't mind me joining in! Attached is my chart and if I'm completely honest I have no idea where I am in my cycle 😩 I'm currently on CD48 after a chemical last month, my period never returned and I only starting using OPKs about a week ago out of curiosity to see what's going on, I had 5 days of positive OPKs so not sure when/if I've ovulated but if I had to guess I'd say on the 7th July which would make me 4dpo now, my RHR is the highest it's ever been!

@sle0911 how strange, your chart is so high! Sorry about cp, hopefully soon you have good news

poptypingchef · 12/07/2020 08:42

@chrissagcat are you using OPK’s too or temping? How many cycles are you on?

poptypingchef · 12/07/2020 08:43

@sle0911 looks interesting.. is the first photo this month and the 2nd last?

sle0911 · 12/07/2020 09:06

@poptypingchef the first pic is just July and the second is over the past 30 days!

poptypingchef · 12/07/2020 09:27

@sle0911 it does look promising 🤞🏻

mrswilso · 12/07/2020 13:01

Hey girls - got my first ever peak OPK just now...I had a feeling it was coming though 😏 RHR chart gave me a nice heads up before ✨

Moominmiss · 12/07/2020 15:28

So af started today. A day earlier than expected but I was ready for it because of my rhr.

I get to have the first of my fertility blood tests done in the next few days so that’s something, sort of signals the start of getting to the bottom of what’s going on with me.
While I’m there I’m going to book my oh in for his semen analysis.

Anyone else cd1?

Also after taking soy isoflavones the last 3 cycles I’m going au natural this cycle (due to having the tests and not wanting to mess anything up), so no idea when I’ll ovulate. Before I took the ISO’s I’d ovulate around cd21/22 but since taking the soy I ovulated on cd15, cd14 and cd13. So will be interesting to see if I go back to late ovulation or whether I’ve managed to bring it forward permanently.

Great @mrswilso - are you new to OPK’s or is it the first time you have caught it? Exciting!!!

Good luck with your blood tests @Moominmiss hopefully they will shed some light and provide some comfort if they can get a clearer picture.

SarahTTC2020 · 12/07/2020 17:24

@Moominmiss I'm cd2
Good luck with the testing, like you said at least it feels like you're doing something positive to help

mrswilso · 12/07/2020 17:50

This is my first month using them @poptypingchef so I'm chuffed to know that my body is doing what it's supposed to 😌 just got a second peak reading now so it's not a fluke! 😂 fingers crossed for a little sticky one this cycle ✨
