Hi,

We have just hit the 12 month mark of TTC and looks like AF is on the way Sad I am on another thread that's really supportive but I do find it disheartening when people get positives on the first couple of cycles of trying. So thought I'd start a thread for anyone around about the year mark. It'll be good to share things and get advice from people who are at a similar stage to me. Im 34 and my husbands 36. We are TTC number 1 x

Thanks @Annny27
Ooh that's a good sign then?!
@Motherofkittens28 great news about the referral. We get our SA results bk tomorrow, feel quite nervous!!
Thanks @Whilstwewait it's just made my pmt come on earlier I think lol, raging mood today 😂 hope you're feeling alright x

Motherofkittens28 · 07/09/2020 22:04

Thanks guys, hope its good news tomorrow @notyetamumbuttrying!

notyetamumbuttrying · 07/09/2020 22:39

Hope so too!! Thank you @Motherofkittens28

Whilstwewait · 08/09/2020 16:57

Anyone else super fed up with their job right about now? Maternity leave is a distant dream for more than one reason!

Annny27 · 09/09/2020 18:04

@Motherofkittens28 yep haha! I feel like i cant change because oh what if I am pregnant and then won't get maternity leave ;p

@notyetamumbuttrying how are you doing? 7dpo I think and no symptoms atall 😂

notyetamumbuttrying · 09/09/2020 20:08

@Whilstwewait he rang up and the bloody dr left 😂 no wonder he never got the call bk! So he has to call tomorrow to get a callback from the doc same day so we should get them tomorrow now. Mission!

@Motherofkittens28 yes, so much! This was my initial motivation for wanting to get pregnant 😆 well, a big part of it anyway 😬 prob a good thing it didn't happen straight away as I really do want a baby now, rather than like the idea of it.

@Annny27 ok thanks, you? 9dpo today. Just my usual monthly symptoms so can't say much for mine.

PlanBea · 09/09/2020 22:44

@Motherofkittens28 I ended up changing jobs when I got fed up at 12 months TTC and went for an interview in January. It felt like why keep my life on hold for any longer 😂

@notyetamumbuttrying typical! Hope you get answers tomorrow!

Whilstwewait · 10/09/2020 07:30

@notyetamumbuttrying today's the day 🤞 you've waited long enough for them

@Motherofkittens28 I know the feeling. I go through stages of loving my job and hating it. Gad a job interview 3 weeks ago still not heard back. Big decision to make if I do get offered it x

OP posts:
Annny27 · 10/09/2020 08:40

@whilstwewait is it in a new company or the same company?

@notyetamumbuttrying yet I am good, trying to hold off testing untill 14dpo! You?

notyetamumbuttrying · 10/09/2020 09:22

Thanks @PlanBea me too! Hope you're well today.
@Whilstwewait I know 😫 he should be getting a call this morning so just patiently waiting (again) now. I just hope he doesn't miss it as he's a mortgage advisor so always on the phone! 😣 good luck with the job, let us know what you decide. Sounds like it'll be a tough one with pregnancy now!
@Annny27 yeah basically the same as you then. I'll be 14dpo on Monday, so not too long to go really. Are you feeling hopeful this cycle or nah? I'm not sure how I feel. Pretty fed up of the disappointment but next week is exactly a year since coming off the pill so it would really be poetic if this is it!! I think getting Dh SA result will really sway how I feel about Monday.

Whilstwewait · 10/09/2020 12:09

@Annny27 same company. Its WFH which i think i'll like but dont want to be lonely but its more shift patterns so includes a week of working till 9 whereas now im 9-5 Monday to Friday. Just can't decide which will give me more flexibility when baby arrives. I spend a lot on petrol at moment so will be a big saving to go on childcare costs but once baby is here I can push to be closer to home x

@notyetamumbuttrying hope he didn't miss the call

@Whilstwewait he has a low count, I'm just sat at the drs now waiting for the print out as they just gave the figures over the phone.

Whilstwewait · 10/09/2020 13:56

@notyetamumbuttrying oh no. I'm sorry. Have you got the figures now? Is morphology and motility ok? I know it won't help now but he does have sperm and you're ovulating so you will get your baby. My friends husband had a low count and they got pregnant naturally. Get onto your doctors. My understanding is that if an issue is found you get referred straight to fertility rather than wait the 2 years if everything came back fine. Probably worth asking for a 2nd sample as well as one sample isn't always conclusive. He may have missed the pot a bit. Also if not on vitamins get him some. My husband took conceive plus with extra vitamin c which had the NHS recommend daily amount of each vitamin for sperm. Sorry long post a lot for you to think about so take your time x

@Whilstwewait working from home is good and bad isn't it. I love the flexibility but do miss the office environment

@notyetamumbuttrying so sorry :( that is a bit of a blow! How are you both feeling?

notyetamumbuttrying · 10/09/2020 15:29

@Whilstwewait thank you. On reflection it might not be as bad as we thought as he abstained for like 7 days which is far too long for a decent result so I think we'll ask for a redo. Motility was low too. Volume was good and so was vitality but everything else was low. Concentration etc so it defo needs a redo. He knows he needs to stop smoking and to not binge drink on a Saturday with his mates. We both need to exercise as we barely move now we're both wfh. Both our diets need to improve. He takes wellman tablets but not regularly so he needs to sort that. I feel far better than I did this morning! The dr did say we could be referred but we need the rest of my tests in. I'm doing day 3's next week but can't have a scan yet as the hospitals aren't doing routine appointments, so surely we'll get referred even more so as the clinic should be able to scan me.
@Annny27 I'm ok now thanks. Not sure about Dh. We're both so busy with work so once we're done we'll chat tonight.
Thanks both for the msgs, hope you're both well.

PlanBea · 10/09/2020 15:42

@Whilstwewait it sounds like you have something to work with for now that isn't insurmountable either, though not great news either. Can I suggest getting one of those days of the week pill dispensers, they're about £1 so you can fill them each week and keep track of taking vitamins (I'd be lost without mine!). And it sounds like a few lifestyle tweaks would be a good shout now anyway in case you do need to go to fertility, particularly the smoking/binge drinking. Fingers crossed for you

Whilstwewait · 10/09/2020 15:52

@PlanBea you've tagged me not @notyetamumbuttrying Grin

OP posts:
Whilstwewait · 10/09/2020 16:53

@notyetamumbuttrying sounds like you have a good plan in place. There's a lot he can do to improve it. Drinking is one of the worse things for sperm. So hopefully now he's had the results he'll be more inclined to make changes. They normally say 3 months to see a difference as that's how long ther sperm take to be fully formed x

Sorry to hear that lovely... Partner has his blood tests tomorrow after 2 low SA results. Then we can be referred. In this area I don't need the 3 day bloods to be referrer, the sub fertility clinic do those if required.

We were told to abstain for between 2 and 7 days so 7 should be ok. They will normally request a repeat of the SA is low to confirm it

claireb707 · 10/09/2020 17:30

Still no idea what's going on with me though, now cd32, 14dpo, temps are still up a little but bfn this morning and also got a dark ish opk (not close to pos but dark all the same). No sore boobs at all this month which is unusual

TTC 12 months buddies please
notyetamumbuttrying · 10/09/2020 18:58

Ooh great idea with the pill caddy @PlanBea he'll feel like a grandad before he's even a dad 😂 oh yes defo with the smoking and booze. I hope this gives him the kick up the arse that he needs!! Tbf his drinking isn't that bad, I'm probably worse 😬 😆 obvs I don't go wild in tww but when I'm on or just finished, I go in on the wine!
@Whilstwewait yeah really hoping this is a wake up call for him, although his drinking isn't bad as it's not every Saturday as I may have made out. But even every other Saturday is bad if he's drinking all day!
@claireb707 thank you. Best of luck to your Dh. Interesting chart, hope you get something happening soon!

PlanBea · 10/09/2020 19:05

@Whilstwewait oh dear I'm surprised it's taken me this long to be honest 😂

@notyetamumbuttrying I'm terrible for remembering whether I've taken my medication or not, then add in working from home and all the other craziness, it can be a helpful reminder. Mine lives by the kettle so it gets looked at a lot!
