TTC after Mirena removal

Hi everyone,

I'm getting my Mirena coil out on Friday hopefully, although the strings are missing so it might be a difficult procedure and chance I'll have to go to a specialist clinic which isn't even open due to Covid!

I'm due to get married at the end of December but with everything being so uncertain we thought we'd start the process of TTC now.

I'm 33 and have endometriosis, although had laparoscopy two years ago to remove endo tissue do hoping not to encounter any issues.

My GP has said not to start testing for when I'm ovulating as it will just make me more anxious but I'm literally going to have no clue when anything might happen.

Anybody else experienced anything similar?
We're keeping ours plans quiet from friends and family for now so be great to be able to share thoughts and worries with people ☺️

Look forward to chatting to you all soon xx

Wow - sorry for the essay @Tabbycat92 🙈

Tabbycat92 · 18/08/2020 22:27

Oh my @amy259 it's so difficult isn't it! Its such a shame that it can't be the wedding you'd originally planned 😕 I bet its a gorgeous venue! It's great that they're so accommodating that you'd be able to move the date if needed.
I'm sure you'll have an incredible day no matter what happens, and when things are a bit more normal you will be able to celebrate properly! 😊

My brother gets married in April next year, we're hoping we don't have a second wave before then 🤞

I'm at the opposite end of the country, down in Cornwall!

Amy259 · 19/08/2020 09:04

@Tabbycat92 thank you! We actually originally wanted a small celebration but family politics on my OH’s side made that difficult... so in a way it’s nice that we might get what we wanted! It’s a beautiful venue sat on its own loch, so we’re really hoping it can go ahead there. I’ll also be in my fw over the wedding weekend if it happens next week, which would be nice to not have to think about making sure we dtd this month because I’m sure it’ll be happening anyway 😂😂

I’m sure all will be well by April and your brother will have the most perfect day!

Ahh we talk about visiting Cornwall all the time, I’m dying to explore down there. It’s definitely on our list for the next year or two, once everything has calmed down of course. We have two golden retrievers and I’m sure they’d love it too.

Tabbycat92 · 19/08/2020 09:10

@amy259 haha definitely no worries about not dtd 😂 although me and DH didn't on the wedding night! We were both too tired, and DH had a little too much to drink haha.

Cornwall is lovely 😊
I've always been desperate to visit Scotland! It's very high on my list for when lockdown is over

Hey ladies. Thought I'd check in with you all! We weren't planning to ttc until December, but last night we dtd because I'm so impatient, so I've got my fingers and toes crossed.
Any BFPs from you guys yet??

Hello @Tabbycat92 lovely to hear from you!!

We actually conceived around our wedding and got a bfp mid sept but it ended in a chemical about 5 days later, so I’m currently 8dpo in the cycle after.
But I got a new job this week and no start date as yet, and their mat policy is amazing (6 months full pay, 3 months stat) but I’d need to be working for about 4 months before we conceived to qualify. So if no bfp this month I think we’ll wait until March time, as much as it’ll be a bitter pill to swallow I think it would be silly not to. If I get a bfp this month it’ll be wonderful, just a little awkward (and zero mat pay!) as far as telling my new job 😂 how have you been?

Tabbycat92 · 16/10/2020 16:01

@amy259

I'm sorry to hear about your chemical 😔 that must have been very disheartening.
I hope your wedding went well.
Congratulations on the new job! It's lovely to have great mat leave in place, I'm very lucky that my work offer that.
Best of luck with TTC next year, it definitely is hard putting things on hold, that's why I've given in!
We ideally would love a september baby so they're the eldest of their academic year etc, but I'm too impatient 😅

Hey @all :) itˋs nice of you to check in @AllTheWhoresOfMalta

Sorry to hear about your loss @Amy259 !

I actually concieved too in late August/early Sep. (not 100% sure when it happend) And currently I‘m somewhere in between week 8-9. So it‘s safe to say I didnt have a problem concieving at all after mirena but it‘s still very early so I‘m managing my expectations since both in my family and friends group first trimester loss happend quite a few times.. anyway happy for now.

I‘ve got my fingers crossed for you @Tabbycat92! Hope you can report a bfp soon. :)

Nate1 · 17/10/2020 08:51

Sorry I ment you @Tabbycat92 with the checking in :)

Aw326 · 21/10/2020 16:44

Hi @Tabbycat92, thanks for checking in. No, I haven't had any luck! Since my cycle returned, it's been really short. At first it was 24 days, now it's up to 25 or 26 per cycle. Also, I'm only getting a positive OPK one or two days per cycle. I don't know if it has to do with having the hormonal mirena for more than a decade (I had three in a row), but I'm guessing it does. I just started taking vitex/agnus castus, which is meant to help regulate cycles and improve ovulation. I'm a bit frustrated and a little concerned after trying for 6 months now, but trying to stay positive :)
