TTC after Mirena removal

Hi everyone,

I'm getting my Mirena coil out on Friday hopefully, although the strings are missing so it might be a difficult procedure and chance I'll have to go to a specialist clinic which isn't even open due to Covid!

I'm due to get married at the end of December but with everything being so uncertain we thought we'd start the process of TTC now.

I'm 33 and have endometriosis, although had laparoscopy two years ago to remove endo tissue do hoping not to encounter any issues.

My GP has said not to start testing for when I'm ovulating as it will just make me more anxious but I'm literally going to have no clue when anything might happen.

Anybody else experienced anything similar?
We're keeping ours plans quiet from friends and family for now so be great to be able to share thoughts and worries with people ☺️

Look forward to chatting to you all soon xx

@amy259 I recommend these www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00F3IH58Y?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share&tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-21
Then use the premom app, take a photo and it'll tell you exactly when you're at peak and when ovulation occurred etc. Very reliable, I know a lot of people who have used them and got on well with them, it's what I'm currently using
But very promising that you got a smiley! My levels are still no where near 😔

@Tabbycat92 thank you, just ordered them!

Isn’t it weird that I got my first smiley and first day of AF on the same day though? Surely that can’t be right??

Fingers crossed you won’t have too much longer to wait!

@amy259 I don't know to be honest, this is my first time tracking, as with my son we just went with the laid back "if it happens, it happens" approach.
I suppose it'll take a few months for you cycle to be correct, so maybe things are just a bit jumbled up at the moment

@amy259 I've just seen a post in a Facebook page I'm on about ovulation bleeding. Some ladies will occasionally experience heavy spotting when ovulating. Apparently this is a sign of a healthy egg, and evereyone commenting said they got pregnant with that egg

@Tabbycat92 ahh thank you! I wondered that one day one but I’m on day 3 now and it’s a pretty heavy, constant flow so I’m fairly convinced it’s a period. Definitely not a time to be DTD!! The OPKs you recommended should come today so I’ll get checking with them too.

Tabbycat92 · 18/07/2020 12:44

@amy259 no definitely not the time to dtd 😂
At least AF has arrived so you know things are getting back to normal! No sign here yet, though I did get a slightly higher LH reading this morning on my OPK 😊

Amy259 · 18/07/2020 12:48

@Tabbycat92 would you be due AF now? Or did you stop altogether with the coil so can’t be sure?

I waited almost 5 weeks (the last 2 of which I felt bloated and awful) and got impatient then took Agnus Castus on a recommendation from a few people and within 36 hrs AF was here. Could just be coincidence of course!

Tabbycat92 · 18/07/2020 14:45

@amy259 no I had no AF on IUD, which was lovely!
Oo I'll have to try that! I am feeling very bloated

Today I've finally had a high reading on my OPK! Seems like something is finally happening.
Any luck for you @butterfly5291?

@Tabbycat92 great news! Even higher today I hope??

Nothing at this end yet, I’m on CD15 today but I think I remember my cycles being around 5 weeks pre-coil so I think it’ll be this time next week I’m ovulating... who knows! Just checking every day with the OPKs you recommended and the app. Are you in the Facebook group that comes recommended with the app?

Report
Tabbycat92 · 30/07/2020 13:22

@amy259 yes I had my peak thankfully! It was cd20 for me, but I don't know if that's right as I had no cycle on IUD.
No I don't think I am in the group, I'll have to join!

Morning everyone! Just wondering how everyone has been over the last week or so? Hope you’re all well x

Morning @amy259. All good here! I had my peak LH levels, so I'm assuming I ovulated. So now I'm just waiting for AF, should hopefully be within the next week.

How are you getting on?

Hey @Tabbycat92, all good here too! Peaked on Sunday so hopefully ovulated Monday-ish (BBT seems to have confirmed that).. meaning I’m only 3DPO and already feeling the impatience! How’s the wait treating you?

Tabbycat92 · 06/08/2020 08:29

@amy259 we didn't DTD, I'm not planning to TTC until December. I'm just trying to get at least 3 months worth of tracking so I can pinpoint my exact time of ovulation. I'm following the Babydust method as we really want a girl to complete our family
The 2ww takes forever! Fingers crossed for you xx

@amy259 how are you? Any luck this month? 🤞

Amy259 · 18/08/2020 14:58

@Tabbycat92 sadly not, CD4 here! The bfns at 8 and 10 dpo really got me down, but then when AF arrived on 12dpo I was resigned to the fact so actually was okay about it. This month I’m going to try my best not to get as caught up in googling and reading a million things!
How are you doing?

Tabbycat92 · 18/08/2020 15:07

Ahh sorry to hear that @amy259, finger crossed this is your month!
I'm good thanks, CD9 here after my first proper AF after mirena removal.
DH and I have decided to wait and TTC in December now. We've decided we'd like a baby that's the eldest of its school year, and it'll be nice spacing with DS's birthday.

@Tabbycat92 at least it means I can drink at our wedding next week!!

This rings a bell - and trying for a girl this time? Or did I make that up...?

Just read back and saw! That’s exciting, I’ve heard about the baby dust method - it’s very intriguing!!

@amy259 ah congratulations on your upcoming wedding! I hope all goes well despite the current situations!
Yes trying for a girl! We already have a son, and DH is set that we are only having 2 children, so a girl would complete our family perfectly.
The babydust method seems to work for so many people! So I really hope it works for us

@Tabbycat92 thank you! We’re still not 100% sure it can go ahead - waiting on confirmation this week... with a week to go!
Aww that would be lovely, I’d like a son first then a daughter too. The agreement in our house is that if we’re lucky enough to have two, if we get one of each we’ll stop but if we have two the same (and are in a position to) we’ll have one more then stop no matter what the 3rd is 😂

Aww well fingers crossed for you! Where are you? What are the rules like where you are?

Yes I'm glad we had a son first, I'd love for him to be a big brother to a little sister ❤️

I don't think it would be hard to convince DH to have a third, he was eager for a second wayyy before I was.

We’re in Scotland, so at the moment we’re allowed 20 for the ceremony (but that includes us and any photographer/videographer so really 16 guests). Which was actually okay in the end because that’s exactly our parents, siblings, my fiancé’s grandparents, bridesmaids and best man/groomsmen. The problem is that venues are only allowed to feed people based on “gathering rules” which up here is 5 households!! Which means after the ceremony our bridesmaids and groomsmen would have to leave... and we’re getting married in the middle of nowhere, had originally hired it for everyone to stay for the 2 nights. So if we have to do that, they’ll have to drive over an hour each way for a 20 min ceremony - it’s rubbish!
Venue can sleep 22 as a hotel so they had environmental health out today to assess if they’ll be allowed to do that and host a wedding... if so, we’ll be able to let all of the guests stay and I’ll be able to have the night before with my girls and get ready with my bridesmaids and mum etc. They’ll just have to eat separately for the meal (which is better than sending them home!!).
But rules are changing on 11th Sept (details being announced this Thursday) so if they change enough to really matter, we might push it back a fortnight. We’ve already postponed from April and just really want to be married now.

Aww that’s so lovely! My OH is dying for us to be pregnant, I think that added to my disappointment this month - I almost felt guilty?!
