TTC after Mirena removal

Hi everyone,

I'm getting my Mirena coil out on Friday hopefully, although the strings are missing so it might be a difficult procedure and chance I'll have to go to a specialist clinic which isn't even open due to Covid!

I'm due to get married at the end of December but with everything being so uncertain we thought we'd start the process of TTC now.

I'm 33 and have endometriosis, although had laparoscopy two years ago to remove endo tissue do hoping not to encounter any issues.

My GP has said not to start testing for when I'm ovulating as it will just make me more anxious but I'm literally going to have no clue when anything might happen.

Anybody else experienced anything similar?
We're keeping ours plans quiet from friends and family for now so be great to be able to share thoughts and worries with people ☺️

Look forward to chatting to you all soon xx

Hi @Tabbycat92, thanks for checking in. No, I haven't had any luck! Since my cycle returned, it's been really short. At first it was 24 days, now it's up to 25 or 26 per cycle. Also, I'm only getting a positive OPK one or two days per cycle. I don't know if it has to do with having the hormonal mirena for more than a decade (I had three in a row), but I'm guessing it does. I just started taking vitex/agnus castus, which is meant to help regulate cycles and improve ovulation. I'm a bit frustrated and a little concerned after trying for 6 months now, but trying to stay positive :)

Hey @all :) itˋs nice of you to check in @AllTheWhoresOfMalta

Sorry to hear about your loss @Amy259 !

I actually concieved too in late August/early Sep. (not 100% sure when it happend) And currently I‘m somewhere in between week 8-9. So it‘s safe to say I didnt have a problem concieving at all after mirena but it‘s still very early so I‘m managing my expectations since both in my family and friends group first trimester loss happend quite a few times.. anyway happy for now.

I‘ve got my fingers crossed for you @Tabbycat92! Hope you can report a bfp soon. :)

@amy259

I'm sorry to hear about your chemical 😔 that must have been very disheartening.
I hope your wedding went well.
Congratulations on the new job! It's lovely to have great mat leave in place, I'm very lucky that my work offer that.
Best of luck with TTC next year, it definitely is hard putting things on hold, that's why I've given in!
We ideally would love a september baby so they're the eldest of their academic year etc, but I'm too impatient 😅

Hello @Tabbycat92 lovely to hear from you!!

We actually conceived around our wedding and got a bfp mid sept but it ended in a chemical about 5 days later, so I’m currently 8dpo in the cycle after.
But I got a new job this week and no start date as yet, and their mat policy is amazing (6 months full pay, 3 months stat) but I’d need to be working for about 4 months before we conceived to qualify. So if no bfp this month I think we’ll wait until March time, as much as it’ll be a bitter pill to swallow I think it would be silly not to. If I get a bfp this month it’ll be wonderful, just a little awkward (and zero mat pay!) as far as telling my new job 😂 how have you been?

Hey ladies. Thought I'd check in with you all! We weren't planning to ttc until December, but last night we dtd because I'm so impatient, so I've got my fingers and toes crossed.
Any BFPs from you guys yet??

@amy259 haha definitely no worries about not dtd 😂 although me and DH didn't on the wedding night! We were both too tired, and DH had a little too much to drink haha.

Cornwall is lovely 😊
I've always been desperate to visit Scotland! It's very high on my list for when lockdown is over

@Tabbycat92 thank you! We actually originally wanted a small celebration but family politics on my OH’s side made that difficult... so in a way it’s nice that we might get what we wanted! It’s a beautiful venue sat on its own loch, so we’re really hoping it can go ahead there. I’ll also be in my fw over the wedding weekend if it happens next week, which would be nice to not have to think about making sure we dtd this month because I’m sure it’ll be happening anyway 😂😂

I’m sure all will be well by April and your brother will have the most perfect day!

Ahh we talk about visiting Cornwall all the time, I’m dying to explore down there. It’s definitely on our list for the next year or two, once everything has calmed down of course. We have two golden retrievers and I’m sure they’d love it too.

Oh my @amy259 it's so difficult isn't it! Its such a shame that it can't be the wedding you'd originally planned 😕 I bet its a gorgeous venue! It's great that they're so accommodating that you'd be able to move the date if needed.
I'm sure you'll have an incredible day no matter what happens, and when things are a bit more normal you will be able to celebrate properly! 😊

My brother gets married in April next year, we're hoping we don't have a second wave before then 🤞

I'm at the opposite end of the country, down in Cornwall!

We’re in Scotland, so at the moment we’re allowed 20 for the ceremony (but that includes us and any photographer/videographer so really 16 guests). Which was actually okay in the end because that’s exactly our parents, siblings, my fiancé’s grandparents, bridesmaids and best man/groomsmen. The problem is that venues are only allowed to feed people based on “gathering rules” which up here is 5 households!! Which means after the ceremony our bridesmaids and groomsmen would have to leave... and we’re getting married in the middle of nowhere, had originally hired it for everyone to stay for the 2 nights. So if we have to do that, they’ll have to drive over an hour each way for a 20 min ceremony - it’s rubbish!
Venue can sleep 22 as a hotel so they had environmental health out today to assess if they’ll be allowed to do that and host a wedding... if so, we’ll be able to let all of the guests stay and I’ll be able to have the night before with my girls and get ready with my bridesmaids and mum etc. They’ll just have to eat separately for the meal (which is better than sending them home!!).
But rules are changing on 11th Sept (details being announced this Thursday) so if they change enough to really matter, we might push it back a fortnight. We’ve already postponed from April and just really want to be married now.

Aww that’s so lovely! My OH is dying for us to be pregnant, I think that added to my disappointment this month - I almost felt guilty?!

Aww well fingers crossed for you! Where are you? What are the rules like where you are?

Yes I'm glad we had a son first, I'd love for him to be a big brother to a little sister ❤️

I don't think it would be hard to convince DH to have a third, he was eager for a second wayyy before I was.

@Tabbycat92 thank you! We’re still not 100% sure it can go ahead - waiting on confirmation this week... with a week to go!
Aww that would be lovely, I’d like a son first then a daughter too. The agreement in our house is that if we’re lucky enough to have two, if we get one of each we’ll stop but if we have two the same (and are in a position to) we’ll have one more then stop no matter what the 3rd is 😂

@amy259 ah congratulations on your upcoming wedding! I hope all goes well despite the current situations!
Yes trying for a girl! We already have a son, and DH is set that we are only having 2 children, so a girl would complete our family perfectly.
The babydust method seems to work for so many people! So I really hope it works for us

Ahh sorry to hear that @amy259, finger crossed this is your month!
I'm good thanks, CD9 here after my first proper AF after mirena removal.
DH and I have decided to wait and TTC in December now. We've decided we'd like a baby that's the eldest of its school year, and it'll be nice spacing with DS's birthday.

@Tabbycat92 sadly not, CD4 here! The bfns at 8 and 10 dpo really got me down, but then when AF arrived on 12dpo I was resigned to the fact so actually was okay about it. This month I’m going to try my best not to get as caught up in googling and reading a million things!
How are you doing?

@amy259 we didn't DTD, I'm not planning to TTC until December. I'm just trying to get at least 3 months worth of tracking so I can pinpoint my exact time of ovulation. I'm following the Babydust method as we really want a girl to complete our family

Hey @Tabbycat92, all good here too! Peaked on Sunday so hopefully ovulated Monday-ish (BBT seems to have confirmed that).. meaning I’m only 3DPO and already feeling the impatience! How’s the wait treating you?

Morning @amy259. All good here! I had my peak LH levels, so I'm assuming I ovulated. So now I'm just waiting for AF, should hopefully be within the next week.

How are you getting on?

@Tabbycat92 great news! Even higher today I hope??

Nothing at this end yet, I’m on CD15 today but I think I remember my cycles being around 5 weeks pre-coil so I think it’ll be this time next week I’m ovulating... who knows! Just checking every day with the OPKs you recommended and the app. Are you in the Facebook group that comes recommended with the app?
