@Selina37 thanks for the reassurance :)

I read that typically ovulation happens 24 hours after a surge so I think he came round just before. My temp and rhr went up today, so fingers crossed x

@Lynnysong fingers crossed 🤗

@kirinm Ive heard that that's about right. Late implantation is possibly not as good...?

lastditchattempt20 · 03/07/2020 12:59

@Lynnysong so sorry it's been stressful this month. I've done a lot of reading about OPK and tracking and would say the following (with best intentions Daffodil)
-RHR can be affected by SO many other factors, particularly stress. Ignore it, it's confusing matters!
-BBT only rises after ov. which is too late for you. It should mainly be used to predict the probable window for next month, which relies on you having regular cycles. It also has to be done to the letter (don't sit up/move around/drink before, must sleep for 4 hrs prior, take it within the same 30 min window every morning). All that is just not doable for me!
-CM is too subjective for me and can even be affected by things like dehydration.

To be honest if I was in your situation where knowing your entire fertile window is essential so you have the best chance of getting the donor round at the best time, I would strongly recommend investing in the 4 day Clear Blue test with the flashing smiley. You get more of a 'heads up' on your peak and can start to make plans earlier. Or asking your donor if more than one visit is an option. Finger x for this month though 🤞🏻🤞🏻

kirinm · 03/07/2020 13:33

I agree with RHR. Mine is all over the place and is massively affected by sleep (or lack of) and exercise.

Hello Ladies, I hope it's OK if I chime in here. I know there are a ton of people on the list already (have been stalking this thread)...but I'm 41 (DH is 33 woot woot lol) TTC#1 on cycle 4. I don't use OPKs but do BBT chart, which has helped me be more patient. I'm on CD 10 now and waiting to ov soon.

I'm all about diet and supplements these days and am considering reading It Starts With The Egg bc everyone keeps talking about it. Did you, and did it help?

I saw that someone asked about how to bring on AF before, and I had the same question not long ago (after MC in late April), so I figured I may help. Check out lavender tea or oil, and castor oil packs (and other home abortion remedies/herbs, believe it or not). I drank a bunch of lavender tea and green tea, and AF came back healthy and strong in May after MC.

I started taking maca and evening primrose oil this cycle, along with CoQ10, and a bunch of other supplements I've been taking forever. Cycle 3 was foiled by (TMI) a yeast infection! so I also started probiotics and bilberry supplements last cycle.

I thought maca might bring on ov earlier than usual as (TMI) CM has been abundant and watery. Anyone else try maca and suspect a change in their cycle because of it?

Thx and GL to all :)))

Loladoodle · 03/07/2020 14:18

Hi everyone 👋

@lastditchattempt20 so sorry this has happened so unfair to get your hopes raised then af. This process is a mare!

Cd1 here 😐 although disappointed I knew it was coming and I am partly relieved as pms was awful! I was complete hateful bitch again for the last week..... pms sucks... I hate feeling that way! 😫

Peaceandcalm · 03/07/2020 14:54

Hello ladies,

Thanks for setting up the thread. I really need to talk about the conception and pregnancy journey with people in the same situation.
After suffering from a miscarriage at the end of last year, my partner and I are finally starting to try again. I feel I wasted so much time, which I don’t have to spare. I recently turned 41 (my partner turned 34) and I’ve been feeling so defeated of late. Our first child would have been born at the end May, which doesn’t help.

Anyway I set out to get my body and mind in better shape in the hope that I would conceive again soon. It happened the first time after using my ovulation kit. This time around, a year later, it hasn’t been as quick. This is the third month of trying (although we rarely DTD the last two months). The kit usually places my peaks anytime between days 10 and 13. This month I have had 5 consecutive high days and still no peaks. This is very unusual for me, and has made me wonder whether I will even ovulate this month. Has anyone else experienced this? It’s caused a panic, which is counterproductive – I know.

Sleeeeeepy · 03/07/2020 15:48

I'm glad your donor came around in the end @Lynnysong Keeping everything crossed for you!

Do we all feel that chocolate brownies may help TTC? If so I've got a great chance this month, all other measures not looking great 😬

Sleeeeeepy · 03/07/2020 16:01

@Peaceandcalm I'm sorry for your loss, that's really sad. This is a lovely group with lots of support and advice.

Which sort of ovulation tests are you using? I'm not convinced they're that accurate, I know someone who knows they ovulated (via ultrasound) but didn't have a peak 🤷🏻‍♀️ There's no such thing as normal so really they just look for a pattern which isn't the same for everyone, or even for the same person at different times

mouldygrapes · 03/07/2020 16:41

@Sleeeeeepy that’s interesting about the accuracy. Friends have said similar - a few never had positive OPKs and all conceived in the end.
I did get some, first time using them this month.
I get what I assume is ovulation pain some months, but since I’ve had a Mirena for years, never knew when in my cycle it came as I didn’t bleed.
I can feel it starting now, and have had some CM, but no positive on OPK. I am CD 8 of my first proper cycle since coming off the Mirena. Will keep testing as I know it’s early (and I’m curious to see what results I get!).

@lastditchattempt20 - sorry, fingers crossed for next month
@Peaceandcalm so sorry for your loss. Not everyone ovulates each month (and stress is a big factor in anovulatory cycles, sadly for us all given the highly stressful situation we’re living through!). But could also be the tests not being that accurate as someone else said

Peaceandcalm · 03/07/2020 16:59

Hi @Sleeeeeepy @mouldygrapes

I know you’re both right. I just spoke to the doctor and he reassured me that there are various factors that could affect the result. I’m going to keep trying and just pray that a miracle happens.

I use the Clearblue Fertility Monitor. It’s a bit pricey but my friend got pregnant the first time she used it, and so did I – so I thought it was worth the money at the time. I’ve not been using it very well lately (i.e. missing the test window) so that could also be the cause of the recent result.

Anyway, I’m coming down from my little melt down. The doctor said that the fact that I got pregnant recently is a good sign. He also told me that he couldn’t refer me for an investigation – owing to my age and the fact that I conceived less than 12 months ago. So if we have no joy this month then I’ll have to book myself in for some private tests. I feel that I need to do everything that I can, so if it doesn’t work, I can at least take comfort in the fact that I tried. But honestly the best thing I can do is to pause and keep calm. How are your ‘journeys’ going?

I'm looking forward to seeing more names on the BFP list.

Peaceandcalm · 03/07/2020 17:10

@FunTryin41We’re in a similar situation (including the younger other half). Sorry to hear about your recent loss. It’s crap! It’s one of the worst things a woman can experience. But hopefully the year will end well for the both of us, and everyone else on the thread.

PirateWeasel · 03/07/2020 19:22

For some inexplicable reason I decided to do a test this evening. AF due tomorrow so god knows why I couldn't have waited 12 hours 🤦 I think I flooded the stick but I swear there's a faint line there!! Not going to be able to sleep tonight for wondering if it's a fluke or not!

LT103 · 03/07/2020 19:44

@PirateWeasel 😬😬 do you have any more to test tomorrow morning?

PirateWeasel · 03/07/2020 19:50

Yep have one spare so will try again with FMU 😬 Convinced I messed up the test, and am still getting weird tummy feelings which could just be AF on the way, so trying not to get my hopes up. Will see what the morning brings!

lucieloos · 03/07/2020 19:54

Ohh good luck @PirateWeasel

Hi to all the newbies 👋

I tested this morning at 10dpo with a frer and it was negative. I'm going to do another in the morning which I'm 100% sure will also be negative and then stop the progesterone that I'm taking so af can come. Will be onto cycle 4 then. I know it's not much but I just really feel like it's not going to work for us and not sure how long we can go on with all the testing for ovulation and timing things and thinking everything over all the time.

claireb707 · 03/07/2020 21:07

Where do you get this progesterone cream from? Seen a few people talking about it now and wondering if I should try it

claireb707 · 03/07/2020 21:07

10 dpo is still early yet, it's not over yet xx
lucieloos · 03/07/2020 21:33

Thanks @claireb707 I've been pregnant 5 times now though - 2 babies and I just know the feeling and this definitely isn't it. 4 out of the 5 times I had a bfp by 10dpo and only once it took until 11dpo.

I don't have progesterone cream it's the proper suppositories. I've done many rounds of ivf so have a relatively bountiful supply. I have quite a short luteal phase so think it needs a bit of a boost.

Ah ok 😢 sorry to hear that. I'm feeling a little bit like that tbh but I've never been pregnant, this is cycle 11 for us and I'm beginning to lose hope. I think I'm now too old for ivf (41 on Tuesday) so not sure where we go next. Not sure whether to look at adoption
lucieloos · 03/07/2020 21:57

@claireb707 you are the same age as me. I turned 41 this week. You could still give ivf a try and see how you go. I know lots of women it's worked for at 41 although I won't lie the stats don't look great but if I had the money I would probably give it a few more rounds. There's also embryo or egg donation. It's not easy I know. Have you and dh had any tests done?

claireb707 · 03/07/2020 22:26

I'm over the age cut off for our area and Im not sure we can afford to pay for ourselves. Will look into it

I've had the blood tests from gp waiting for partner to get his tests done before being referred but not sure there's much point. Not sure I can go through this pain many more times. Everything I seem to hear or see at the moment is babies or someone else being pregnant....

lucieloos · 03/07/2020 22:36

@claireb707 I know I'm so sorry I've been where you are and felt all those things and it's so hard. The only thing that kept me going was making plans so if something didn't work I took a few days and then came up with the next plan. I've been through 13 rounds of ivf to get my two and a couple of tries for no3. Get the tests it's a start and then you have the information you need to move forward. You could get the amh blood test done privately which measures your ovarian reserve and will give you an idea of egg supply for ivf. I had treatment abroad which worked out cheaper. If you do want to go down that route I wouldn't delay though.

claireb707 · 03/07/2020 22:52

I got s private amh test done at the beginning of the year and the result threw me completely.

As far as I'm aware I don't have pcos (ovulate pretty much every month with regular cycles) so no idea what this means...
