Hey everyone, I'm heading for bloods next cycle. Currently 7dPO with no hope that this is BFP cycle

Chalkie67 · 07/09/2020 09:48

Sadly I did get my BFP but it only lasted a week so I didn't quite make it to 5 weeks - technically a chemical pregnancy which makes it sound like it wasn't real? Just feel gutted.

Dbop100 · 07/09/2020 10:14

@Chalkie67 I am so sorry for your loss. I had exactly the same thing in May. I hate the term chemical pregnancy, I personally refer to it as an early miscarriage. I was pregnant for a week and we were really happy and the loss is totally devastating. Sending you love and strength xx

Chalkie67 · 07/09/2020 14:15

Thanks for your message @Dbop100 that's exactly how it feels. I am sorry you had to go through this too but it's nice to know someone understands.

lamby12 · 07/09/2020 18:12

@notyetamumbuttrying no OH hasn't had SA and is being very awkward about it so if figured let's get my blood results back first and then I'll try and push it again. When will yours get SA results?

@Aokbaby yes a break over here too and found it really useful mentally (TTC has taken over too much) until I randomly did a pregnancy test today (BFN!) I'm due on tomorrow and had a few dizzy spells last week (probably just not eaten enough and rushing!) and it was like I randomly suddenly convinced myself I must be pregnant and had to do a test. Anyway, I won't be retesting will just waiting for AF. I'm not obsessing like I used to anyway (for now)
I hope AF doesn't show up late for you.

@Tink2019 have everything crossed for your scan - let us know how it goes. Let's hope it's all good and then you have peace of mind early on too rather than waiting for the 12 week.

@Dbop100 I'm Cd23 (due tomorrow for me) so hoping it just comes quickly now and no time to overthink things. I don't know when I ovulated as I haven't tested for a few months. A welcome breather but then would be nice at this point to know when I did!
Hope you can keep the chilled mood into week 2 of tww!

@Chalkie67 sorry about your early miscarriage (I called it that too) and @Dbop100. I had earlier this year too. The fact it so early doesn't make it not horrible to go through!

X

Tink2019 · 07/09/2020 18:30

@Chalkie67 I'm so sorry to hear about your loss, can imagine you're devastated 😔

@lamby12 I hope your results all come back fine - think SA is a bit of a tricky subject, but I'm sure fertility clinics will request it even if it's established it's an issue with the woman...

Thanks for checking in when you're all going through your own struggles too...I had my scan this morning and it's definitely not a molar pregnancy and there was definitely a heartbeat ❤️ Feel so relieved! High HCG can also indicate Down syndrome so we won't be telling anyone until we get our screening tests back after the 12-week scan, but for now we're just focussing on the fact that we did it...after almost a year we made an actual human!! 😬

Aokbaby · 07/09/2020 18:51

Taaaay @Tink2019 delighted it's good news, wishing you all the luck going forward x

@lamby12 yea a break definitely helps. I've tried to adopt the it'll happen when it happens approach and it works to an extent, then like you I feel dizzy/funny/different and think this is it, I must be pregnant. Just said to dh that it's month 9 and still no baby, asked if he has any thoughts on it but he kinda shrugged it off in a don't panic kind of way! Easier said than done though 🙈

Aokbaby · 07/09/2020 18:52

@Chalkie67 sorry to hear, sending hugs x

Dbop100 · 07/09/2020 19:14

@Tink2019 yay congratulations 🙌 so pleased for you 💕 such a fabulous milestone

@lamby12 sorry about the BFN, the number of times I've convinced myself I have a symptom and tested, man it sucks. But at least you're on a nice short cycle and not being kept in suspense. Good luck getting that SA, my husband was a little nervous at first but now he's come back with a glowing report he's very proud of himself and pleased he did it. It's got to be done to rule out things they make up 50% of the baby!

Tink2019 · 07/09/2020 19:50

Thanks ladies, I'll carry on lurking on here if that's ok as would love to hear how you're all getting on. Really hope you get your BFPs soon xx

@lamby12 Sorry I completely missed that you'd tested. Seeing a bfn really does suck 👎🏻

notyetamumbuttrying · 07/09/2020 22:50

Defo push him again when bloods are back @lamby12 just tell him it's the next stage of investigations and has to be done to move forward (if you end up needing to). Should get it bk tomorrow now 😬

So pleased all's going well so far @Tink2019 defo still stick around!

Our year mark is next week...I have pmt so seems like it'll be another bfn for me! I know I'm not out until she shows etc but I can't imagine you get pmt if you are pregnant.

lamby12 · 08/09/2020 21:32

@Tink2019 delighted for you!!! That's amazing news and whilst you've still probably got to it fingers crossed until 3 months hopefully you can breathe a little bit!

@notyetamumbuttrying @Dbop100 @Aokbaby thanks for the encouragement.

Haven't come in today, I made the mistake of keeping the BFN and looking today to find a faint line Hmm it was a clear blue and I do think they are terrible for evap lines so I'm trying to to ready too much into things and stay cool...! I've built myself up so many times to be disappointed, the last few months I've been early so I haven't had to be back in this headspace for a while.
Only got a CBD in the cupboard so no point using that.

Going to call doctors tomorrow for my CD21 results from Friday!

X

lamby12 · 09/09/2020 11:46

So I got my blood test results back and had a long consultation with the doctor as it showed up low progesterone. Long story short she's referring me to the fertility clinic (they are not doing ANY SA at the moment anyway, which she agreed is ridiculous) but she was happy, given the history, to assume I am not ovulating some months and low progesterone could be impacting the ability to get through early pregnancy.

Whilst she's going to do the referral, they aren't actually seeing anyone at the moment and there's a huge backlog, 12months plus!

I've been having a quick google of ways to naturally increase progesterone. Who was it that took soy? Was it you @Tink2019 ?

X

Tink2019 · 09/09/2020 12:41

@lamby12 It was me 😊. We saw a private fertility specialist as I had suspicions I wasn't ovulating or at least not every cycle - they prescribed me Clomid but I decided to try soy first as it's dubbed the 'natural Clomid'. First cycle taking soy I got my BFP...also took B6 after I'd confirmed O with temps and OPKs so could've been either or both that helped. My progesterone test was actually the month I took soy so of course came back fine as got a positive pregnancy test a few days later! I think low progesterone is an easy fix so hopefully with a bit of help (naturally or with something like Clomid) you'll get your BFP too 🤞🏻 xx

Tink2019 · 09/09/2020 12:44

@lamby12 I forgot to say that I'm still taking B6 now and plan to keep taking until after the 12-week scan. When the hospital took my bloods a few weeks ago they said my progesterone levels are really strong so not sure if that's the B6 boosting or they would be without anyway x

lamby12 · 09/09/2020 13:12

@Tink2019 ah yes I thought so. Thanks. I think I will give that a go. The doctor rang me back afterwards and said because they have such a backlog she can't now even refer me until Jan, so definately a long wait and she mentioned that the medication comes with side effects and risks.
What soy and B6 did you get? Is it a particular brand? And how much did you take?
Sorry for all the questions just feels like a whole new world of info to get into now! X

Tink2019 · 09/09/2020 13:39

@lamby12 Oh gosh, that's such a long wait! If you can afford to, could you go private? Aside from the astronomical cost of the initial consultation, it wasn't too expensive and suspect as you've already had bloods they won't need you to redo them. The soy I took was just from Tesco - it says menopause across it, but just ignore that! The B6 I got from Holland & Barrett. I took 80mg soy CD 5, 6 and 7 and 120mg soy CD 8 (was going to take another 120mg CD 9, but I had a migraine so didn’t take the final dose). If you google it you'll find there isn't really a set dose - I kept it low and took it at bedtime to minimise side effects. The day you start it has an impact on the egg - again best to Google but I think the earlier you start it you'll have more eggs develop so better chance of one being released, later you take it you won't produce more eggs but will have one stronger egg - I had a scan CD4 so started CD5 which I think is almost the latest you should take it. After ovulation I then took 50mg B6 every night. I also took Coq10 the whole cycle as someone on here suggested it was good for egg quality - got that on amazon and I think it was 200mg xx

Greenbks · 09/09/2020 14:33

Hi everyone, I’ve had a read through some of this thread and I’m so sorry for all your losses and what you are going through now. @Tink2019- I was really pleased to see your BfP. I have my fingers crossed for you.

I’m experiencing a few of the same things as some of you on here so hoping to have some support in the form of your knowledge and of course, I’ll do the same where I can with knowledge and anything else that I can help with.

I’ve had three losses. One was a very early (6 week) miscarriage /chemical loss. Husband and I started officially trying after that in June 2019 and I became pregnant within the first month but had a mmc at 8 weeks. We waited one cycle and started trying again and I fell pregnant again. This time I got to almost 5 months before I gave birth to my premature baby son who survived for just under an hour.

It’s been a traumatic and shitty year but we’re trying again and it’s been 6 months and we’ve had no luck. At first I thought it was my hormones trying to regulate after giving birth but I contacted my dr two weeks ago and had a 21 day progesterone last Friday (@lamby12 i think we had the blood test on the same day?!) and I’ve just called the drs and was told by the receptionist that there was something which has been flagged but she couldn’t understand it and I would have to speak to the dr. The consultation is booked in for Monday so I have 4 days to torture myself with sinister thoughts. I have my estrogen blood test on Monday at a clinic, My dr referred me to the miscarriage clinic and they called me on Tuesday asking me to come in on Monday (wasn’t expecting it to be so quick) so that they came take more blood and do a 3D scan of my uterus. Oh and the scan is at the hospital I delivered my son at so it’s going to be a super emotionally charge Monday! I don’t drink but I’ll be having a gin and tonic when I get back.

I suspect the dr will tell me I have low progesterone levels or a thyroid issue since that is what they were testing for amongst other things- could there be anything else? I wish the receptionist had told me so I could prepare questions for when I speak to the dr.

Also is the miscarriage and fertility clinic the same? If not, should I be asking my dr to refer me to it? Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I feel like I’m fumbling through not really understanding things.

1940s · 09/09/2020 22:08

@tink2019 what dose of soy / B6 did you take? Thanks for sharing your story

Dbop100 · 10/09/2020 07:15

Hi @Greenbks I'm so sorry for your losses 💕

I'm sorry I don't know anything about the miscarriage clinic, but I'm glad they're seeing you quickly and hopefully it's something that can be easily treated. My step sister had 2 losses but with the help of progesterone is now almost full term with her 3rd pregnancy. Hoping they're able to give you the help you need Xx

Jungle25 · 10/09/2020 20:33

@Tink2019

Probably a very thick question but what is the soy you used from Tesco...? Could you tell me what it's like as I'd like to get some 👍🤗😊

lamby12 · 10/09/2020 22:20

Hi @Greenbks also sorry for your losses and what you have gone through so far. I really hope you get some more answers at your appointment. It seems so unfair that given everything is phone appointment based right now the GP should have tried to speak to you straight away rather than an anxious wait.

I've had a bit of a wobble after the low progesterone news and also on AF which doesn't help. I know it's a fixable one but I don't think I actually expected anything to be wrong so it's a shock that there is. The doctor called back to say they won't actually now do a referral until Jan, so I need to give it a bit longer. That's because we already have a child, so they want us to wait a bit longer. I do get that, but it's still frustrating when she eluded that the wait after referral could be 12 months plus.

Thanks @Tink2019 for all the soy info. My initial reaction was to reach straight for the soy but I've done a bit more research and read in a couple of places it can be a bad move for endometriosis and aggravate the condition. I have endometriosis (another thing to contend with) and it's relatively manageable at the moment so I don't want to risk it at the moment. I've been doing a lot of research on foods that can support progesterone production so I think my first move is going to be a bit of a diet overhaul. I've got into a rut anyway lately and feel very unhealthy, lots of carbs, sugar, rubbish and barely any fruit and veg. Making me feel generally really awful and is all the stuff that inhibits progesterone from my reading.
Stress is also a biggie and half the time I'm stressed because I'm tired and can't get everything done, and I'm tired because I don't eat any good stuff.
So, I'm hoping a bit of a good overhaul might have benefits all round and even if it doesn't influence fertility it will hopefully still get me a bit healthier for whatever comes next.
I thought if nothing happens by December I'll try the soy.

X

lamby12 · 10/09/2020 22:28

If anyone's interested, the foods that are supposed to help progesterone production are;
Spinach, broccoli, kale, cabbage, nuts, beans, fish and pumpkin.

Tink2019 · 10/09/2020 22:45

@Jungle25 they're in the supplement aisle with the menopause supplements (weird, I know) - think the had a dark purple lid and will just be called soy isoflavones.

@lamby12 that sounds like a great plan! I also changed my diet too which may have helped...I'm now back to eating all the carbs, they're the only thing I want!

@Greenbks I'm so sorry to hear about what you've been through. I really hope you get some answers Monday - keeping your waiting is really unfair 😔

Dbop100 · 11/09/2020 08:05

@lamby12 that's a great idea to overhaul your diet. Have you read 'It starts with the egg?' It talks about all the lifestyle changes you can make to improve egg quality (which ups your chances of a healthy embryo) the suggested diet is low carb (all brown carbs no white carbs) high protein. The ideal is the Mediterranean diet so fish, vegetables, legumes, olive oil. Avoid red meat and butter. And alcohol and caffeine of course. I've been doing it and it's made me feel better.

I know it's horrible getting a diagnosis but yours could be so easily treated by the sounds of it. I'm on progesterone right now, I paid a private doctor for a phone consultation £200, I waited only half week once I'd scheduled it to speak to her. She gave me a prescription for progesterone and it was like £16 (guys always get your fertility meds from Asda Pharmacy they don't make a profit on fertility meds and are half the price of anywhere else, who knew!?) I'm also on Clomid but you probably don't need that. I've always relied on the NHS but it's under so much strain now if you want to move forward you don't need to wait months and months xx
