I’ve just booked to go and see a new acupuncture person who specialises in fertility. This person also comes with a friend recommendation.

Ye I don’t know why it has changed my cycle. My luteal phase went from 13 days to 15 days. Also AF is now not heavy like normal. It is very light and clotty.

Annny27 · 25/11/2020 21:36

Evening :D fertile week for me - the joy of scheduled sex :p

@kiza when do you start now? So excited for you to finally be doing ivf :)

@XjustagirlX when I took progesterone my luteal phase changed from 14 to 16 days so it might have been influenced by the progesterone that you took

Hello

It's been a while since I frequented here. Was planning to come back in the new year but feel compelled to return now. Very sad to 'see' some familiars still going on this TTC journey.

@Annny27 @Lottiepink @XjustagirlX @Kiza and I'm sure there's many more I missed (sorry)!

Now finished all diagnostic tests and everything given the green light - no reason we can't conceive naturally! But . . . We haven't. However, I noticed that I don't get positive OPKs very often, I think I've had 2 definitive out of the dozen or so I've done so I've started doing them morning and evening to make sure I catch it but still no.

Fertility team have said let's try Clomid in new year just in case. I think I read someone was trying Clomid? I am hoping this makes sense seeing as OPKs suggest I may not be ovulating every month despite blood tests and cycles suggesting otherwise.

I took a break after being diagnosed with T2 diabetes back in Feb. I'm now on metformin and insulin therapy. This is despite BMI of 23, healthy waist size, active and following a diet designed to prevent T2D for the past 5 years! Complete mystery why this has happened . . . So assumptions around insulin resistance which is know to affect ovulation but no signs of polycystic ovaries etc. And reassured diabetes doesn't affect fertility.

It's been an incredibly stressful year, I know it has for us all but there's been quite a few additional factors for us so I'm hoping next year will improve.

Kiza · 29/11/2020 11:42

@MIW01 welcome back and sorry to hear things have been really stressful for you. I suppose there's no harm trying the Clomid as I think someone once said the only way to 100% know you have ovulated is by a scan, hopefully the Clomid helps.

@Annny27 any sign of ovulation yet?
Waiting for AF to arrive (which should be Tuesday) and then I call up the clinic with down reg meds starting cd21- although can't remember if I have to go in for a baseline scan and covid test before?

Lozzlepop · 29/11/2020 12:17

@MIW01 nice to see you back on the thread, sorry to hear its been a stressful time! It might have been me that was potentially thinking about trying Clomid after the wedding, but tbh after my IVF appointment last week I am currently on the fence.

Hows everyone doing?

MIW01 · 29/11/2020 13:54

Hello @Lozzlepop sorry I didn't see you were still on here earlier. Glad to hear ypu have an appointment for IVF. Just wondering why they suggested Clomid? Do you think you have any ovulation issues? I'm not getting regular positive OPKs so I'm thinking it may be worth trying.

Thanks @Kiza I hope so!

Also, the NHS have royally screwed us over . . . Needed to have started IVF before age of 35 (was 35 in Sept) so now they won't fund it. GP lied and said was date of referral not treatment! Am planning to take action once things are less hectic. Is absolutely disgusting how they've handled it. No way we can afford to pay for treatment.

Kiza · 29/11/2020 14:11

@MIW01 our fertility consultant did the same as we just managed to get the referral in before my 40th, I contacted our CCG who said due to the delay of Covid they will honour our application to start treatment beyond my 40th birthday.
Perhaps call your CCG and explain?

Lozzlepop · 29/11/2020 15:06

@MIW01 no I know we dont as we have had 4 miscarriages, she was saying it was for my progesterone levels. I am using the IVF as a backup option as hoping things will go better next time but its a 12 month wait for IVF here so though wed better get the ball rolling. Thats rubbish that you wont get it funded, I know you can pay to go private on the NHS and you get bumped to the top of the list, a friend of a friend used this route and had twins. Think it cost £5k so a lot of money but I imagine cheaper than going fully private.

MIW01 · 29/11/2020 17:41

I'm sorry to hear that @Kiza I'm glad they are going honour it for you. I know they won't do that for us as they are arguing my diabetes and suspected polyp are what caused delays.

I don't have 5K to fund it. We're very fortunate we're currently living in an area where the age limit is 40 so we've registered at a surgery in this area and going to try that way but It's not the point though is it! @Lozzlepop The fact they've lied and clearly do this on a regular basis as I've since found out @Kiza We're not the only 1s is beyond anything I can describe tbh. Messing with people's lives doesn't cut it.

I'm just hoping that it's due to stress and the Clomid works and we don't have to worry about it.

Lozzlepop · 29/11/2020 19:16

@MIW01 I feel its definitely a post code lottery, I get told something different everytime I go- got told my progesterone levels were fine and not to get my thyroid checked- got it checked anyway and its borderline, and at my appointment last week she said my progesterone was on the low side FML!!

Annny27 · 29/11/2020 19:27

Evening ladies :) I am on ovulation day I think - had positive test Friday night, sat night

@MIW01 sorry that you are still also on the ttc journey! Thats really rubbish about the nhs referral before 35 not happening for you :( thats such a lrt down

I dont think any of us long standers have had a bfp since you left. Maybe @whatsthecraic91 but I cant remember if her bfp came before you left or not!

@Lozzlepop its total postcode lottery! In our area you get one fresh transfer whereas other areas get 3 goes! We are very blessed that we could scramble the funds if we needed to go private but that shouldn't be the case!

@kiza ahhhh so close now for you! So the mess start cd21 and then when would they do egg retrieval etc?

OP posts:
whatsthecraic91 · 29/11/2020 20:38

@Annny27 yay for fertile week, fingers crossed for you as always! It's really sad to think no one has had a BFP since I got mine 😢

@MIW01 lovely to see you back but so sorry you're still on your TTC journey. That's absolutely horrible what your GP has done! You're just right to take it further! Hopefully clomid is all you need 🤞🏼

Hope everyone is keeping well!

Kiza · 29/11/2020 22:54

@Annny27 it's impossible to say as it all depends how long I need to down reg (approx 2-3 weeks) and then stim for (approx 9-14 days).
I was hoping to book some annual leave for egg collection and transfer but it's impossible to do right now, have to wait until I've started stimming to get a better idea.

Only a few more days for the fertile window for you. Have to say having a break of scheduled sex from the last 2 years is so lovely! Let's hope I never have to have scheduled sex ever again! 😆

MIW01 · 30/11/2020 13:41

@Lozzlepop oh it's a complete nightmare! So sorry to hear it affects you to. 1st there was polyp then my hysteroscopy cancelled due to diabetes, then covid so no appointments then no polyp! Then referral lost, then tests out of date then, oh sorry - you're too old now!!!

@Annny27 I'm sorry to hear no BFPs in all this time :-( I'm always hopeful! The funding situation is disgraceful

Congratulations @whatsthecraic91 I'm glad someone has some positive news to share, how far along are you now? Than you for words of support I hope so too as I've not been getting regular positive OPKs!

whatsthecraic91 · 30/11/2020 19:26

@MIW01 thank you. I'm 35+2 so just under 5 weeks to go! Can't quite believe how fast it's went.

I'll be keeping everything crossed for all you ladies as always 🤞🏼x

XjustagirlX · 01/12/2020 12:06

@MIW01 I’m so sorry to hear how you have been let down. The NHS and fertility situation is a complete joke. I’m angry on your behalf. Is there anyway they can extend the deadline due to covid as there might be lots of people who have passed the age limit due to covid. I would keep pestering and then put in a formal complaint.

@Annny27 yes maybe the progesterone extended the luteal phase. But I suppose that doesn’t explain the spotting early on 9dpo.

I went to see the different acupuncturist and she thinks I had a very early chemical which was too early to get a BFP. I ended up not having a proper AF it was clotty and lots of spotting. It was a very weird cycle.

I’ve had an update on the recurrent miscarriage unit. They are back up and running now and I am due it be seen in March. I’m hopeful that other people are pregnant and don’t need to be seen and it will move to February.

I’m on CD 10 with a high ovulation result. I’m not hopeful this cycle though as it is the right hand side which is partially blocked.

Kiza · 01/12/2020 18:44

So AF due to today and it's late 🤦🏼‍♀️ for the first time in 2 years I'm super keen for AF to arrive and she's bloody late! I've never been so excited for her arrival! 😆

@XjustagirlX that's good to hear there's some progression for you and hopefully you'll get a cancellation appointment? Sorry to hear you had a chemical, even knowing this retrospectively can still hurt.

MIW01 · 01/12/2020 22:12

Congratulations @whatsthecraic91 so pleased to hear some good news on here. Thank you I am hoping for success on Clomid!

@XjustagirlX they've already told us they won't use Clomid as a reason. We've changed surgeries and our new surgery falls under a different CCG so I'm hoping thateams we would be able to get funding as the age limit is 40.

Hope AF arrives soon @Kiza is just typical!

Kiza · 03/12/2020 14:22

AF arrived today (3 days late 🤨) so phoned the clinic and start down reg on 23rd Dec.. lovely little Christmas gift 🎁

Annny27 · 03/12/2020 17:14

Evening :) I am about 4dpo now. Gutted that I have had to take a lot of ibuprofen this month because of toothache so I am not sure how thay will impact implantation chances but it was the only thing that controlled the pain

Thats exciting @kiza :D so strange how it was late and it never has been! Your uterus just wanted to mess with you ONE more time before ivf 🤣🤣

@MIW01 thats great that you are able to move surgery :D all the areas around me have the same 1 cycle restriction so no escape for me :p

@XjustagirlX you don't always ovulate from the opposite side each month, sometimes one ovary is dominant. Let's hope your good ovary works more than half the cycles :D

OP posts:
Kiza · 03/12/2020 17:21

@Annny27 @XjustagirlX wow I didn't know that about each ovary, I always assumed it swapped each month too?
Yeah I don't know too much about ibuprofen and implantation- only pregnancy? Fingers crossed it hasn't impacted it?

Yeah uterus was definitely playing silly buggers!

Annny27 · 07/12/2020 11:25

@kiza yes apparently the ovary with the most ripe egg gets chosen so it could be the same one for months!

How are you preparing for your cycle - are you doing accupuncture?

I am about 8dpo and no symptoms, nothing as usual;p

OP posts:
Kiza · 07/12/2020 14:42

@Annny27 my Accupuncturist is over an hour away so have booked in for a fertility abdominal massage tomorrow night- I love my hippy stuff! 😆
I suppose 8dpo is still early../ 🤞🏼

Annny27 · 09/12/2020 11:55

Fertility massage sounds lovely! @kiza

Anything to make you more relaxed and feel like you are proactive is good in my eyes :D

How's the other ladies doing? @orangeloo @lottiepink @Lozzlepop @MIW01
