@jessmcg I think I'm going to order some castor oil too! I think we'll be starting them at about the same time! Let's reconvene to compare notes in a few days Smile

jessmcg · 07/06/2020 16:21

@Swifty2 Amazing! I’m really up for that. I hear they can really revolutionise your cycles for one and I’ve had dreadful cramps the past two months, so I hope it helps with that at least. Thought I might also try the Femoral massage!

Also, that article suggests Circle & Bloom fertility meditations. Just FYI, I started those last month and they’ve really helped me manage my TTC anxiety and start to visualise that this WILL happen for me (and for us all!) eventually. I’d really recommend them if you’re thinking of starting any kind of fertility focussed meditation.

notyetamumbuttrying · 07/06/2020 16:37

Ooh which tests @jessmcg? My Dh wanted to get a sperm test done at home but someone said they were bogus. Do you have private clinics close by then?

jessmcg · 07/06/2020 16:44

@notyetamumbuttrying Yes, luckily we do - we are based in London and there is one about 25 mins from us that does a couples fertility assessment - so some preliminary tests for me, a semen analysis for OH and then they walk us through the results and give us some advice in a separate 1 hr consult.
The at home sperm tests aren’t meant to be 100% reliable.. or at least that’s what my GP told me!

MrsCOR · 07/06/2020 16:54

So lovely to see that this will be baby #1 for most of us!!!

@jessmcg - do they still advise to wait until the 1 year mark? I didn't know you could do a home semen test either. Might have a look!

chasingmyrainbow · 07/06/2020 16:54

Bit late to the post but can I join?! 🙃

Been TTC since Nov 19. MC in feb and chemical in April. Now on 11DPO and the wait is doing my head in.

Fingers crossed for you ladies 🤞🏼

Marym1986 · 07/06/2020 17:07

Hi everyone
Lots of us in the same boat.. I am 34 trying for baby no 1. I am on cycle 6, tried pregnacare, fertility smart, cutting out alcohol and caffeine. I'm going to try castor oil packs, anyone know where I can purchase these?
Thanks!

jessmcg · 07/06/2020 17:08

@MrsCOR I’m not sure! I’ll let you know. I did hear that the 1 year wait is a bit of an arbitrary figure but I’ll let you know what they say on Thursday!

@chasingmyrainbow welcome to the group and I’m so sorry to read about some of the difficulties you have faced with a m/c and a chemical over the past 7 months. That really can’t have been easy. This group is really kind & supportive, so welcome! You’re in good company :)

chasingmyrainbow · 07/06/2020 17:10

@jessmcg thank you! 🥰 it's hard to talk about all of this stuff with my friends as they haven't experienced it and are not in the same place so as supportive as they are they don't fully get it. Praying for a rainbow baby soon 🌈 my SIL announced her pregnancy a few weeks back and it's been such a tough time with mixed emotions of course. Praying it happens for me soon and praying for you ladies too 🤞🏼🥰

chasingmyrainbow · 07/06/2020 17:12

Hi @Marym1986. So tough isn't it? I have used all the same stuff. Haven't hear of castor oil though? 🙂 xx

MrsCOR · 07/06/2020 17:15

@chasingmyrainbow - welcome! So sorry that you've had to go through all that. I am 11dpo today too and due on Wednesday/Thursday.

@Marym1986 - also welcome! Not sure where you can buy them but if you find any please post the link as I would also be interested for our next cycle!

@jessmcg - thank you! Hopefully af isn't here by then!

chasingmyrainbow · 07/06/2020 17:16

@MrsCOR yep, same as me then! Due the exact same days too. Going to try and hold out until Tuesday or Wed to test and resist the urge tomorrow morning!!!

jessmcg · 07/06/2020 17:23

@MrsCOR @chasingmyrainbow Have my fingers crossed for you both and everyone else who is approaching testing / end of cycle times this week 🤞🤞🤞

MrsCOR · 07/06/2020 17:24

@chasingmyrainbow - cycle buddies lol!

I would hold off but I really can't. Tomorrow morning it is 😂

Hoping41 · 07/06/2020 17:24

I’m 41 ttc #1 trying for a year with a few months missed.
Glad you have all found the castor oil pack info useful. There’s a ton on YouTube too showing you how to do it. I usually put cling film over my hot water bottle and sit the Oily muslin cloth on it to warm up a bit - you keep it in the fridge between goes.
We’ve got a really nice age range on here and all ttc #1.
I’m now 6dpo and not feeling anything symptom wise except sore bbs but that’s normal at this stage.
I’ve really got my fingers crossed for us all!!

Hoping41 · 07/06/2020 17:27

Welcome @chasingmyrainbow that sounds like a really tough journey you've had. Best of luck for this month 🌈

Swifty2 · 07/06/2020 17:28

I've just ordered these from amazon for castor oil packs:

Pukka Herbs Castor Oil, Organic & Cold-Pressed, 250ml Bottle https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0056PI024/ref=cmswwrcppapiii_Gtr3EbY0A064A

Wool Flannel 12 x 27-1 - Pack https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0011DQRIE/ref=cmswwrcppapiii_-tr3EbEPHW2YS

This article explains what they are for, someone else posted this article earlier:
raisedgood.com/five-fertility-secrets-wish-id-known-sooner/

There is a pack on amazon but it seemed expensive compared with buying the component parts:
Heritage Store Castor Oil Pack Kit https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B009V11TMW/ref=cmswwrcppapiii_1ur3EbXR03ZK8

chasingmyrainbow · 07/06/2020 17:29

@MrsCOR let me know how you get on in the morning! I'm just so sick of seeing BFNs so I'm going to try and leave it until
At least the day AF is due. I've got my
Fingers crossed for you 💕

chasingmyrainbow · 07/06/2020 17:31

@Hoping41 thank you 💕 sounds like you've also had a tough journey. Am going to look into the YouTube and castor oil now, I'm intrigued 🙂 il try anything and everything!! Are you holding off for another week before testing? Xx

notyetamumbuttrying · 07/06/2020 18:20

We're in London too @jessmcg would you mind posting the link address? I'd really like to look into this and would want to go with a recommended clinic.
Hi @chasingmyrainbow and @Marym1986 nice to have you with us!
Thanks for the links @Swifty2! I'll take a look too.

gypsywater · 07/06/2020 18:20

I'm also in London!

Tilly1403 · 07/06/2020 18:26

@Fifol sorry i only just saw your earlier message. I had a hormone blood test around a year ago for them to check something else out and the GP said it'll be good to repeat when we get to a year but it showed much the same stuff they'd test for and said all looked ok. The semen analysis we booked privately, only cost around a hundred pounds so we thought best to get the least intrusive tests done then we know where we stand Smile hope that helps

Seafrontsky · 07/06/2020 20:12

@jessmcg was the meditation app expensive? It looks good but I'm rubbish with exchange rates! I need something to take my mind off the worries that creep in as AF looms. Started with the doom and gloom today already and I'm only 4DPO! Bloody hormones!

Good luck to all those testing in the next few days and welcome to those joining. This thread is so busy but so supportive!

jessmcg · 07/06/2020 20:32

Hi @Seafrontsky I bought a 28 day programme that you can use for each cycle. I think it was $50? So around £35? It has helped me a lot so I would say worth it to be honest.

@notyetamumbuttrying @gypsywater Google CARE Fertility - I booked a couples fertility assessment thing at their London branch (Regents Park / Baker Street). They’re meant to be good - reviews look really encouraging!

gypsywater · 07/06/2020 20:46

Thanks @jessmcg!
