Penguin huddle 🐧🐧🐧 TTC after pregnancy loss - Thread 35 - time for some sticky BFP's

Welcome to the 🐧 huddle. This a safe place to give and receive support for everyone who has experienced the loss(es) of a pregnancy or baby. Pregnancy and child loss is one of the most difficult things we can experience and it can also be the most lonely time too. I hope you find this thread to be of some comfort.

I have found so much comfort from the lovely ladies on this thread and I’m hoping for lots of BFPs in coming months!

That's interesting. It's hard not having a definite answer though. Are you going to carry on testing anyway? (I don't think I would be able to wait)
It's really intense, much more than a 'normal' tww. I hope you can switch off over the weekend. Frustrating that it's a Bank Holiday there on Monday too.

marmitecheesetoast · 29/05/2020 16:53

Sorry AF arrived @SomeBunnyovertheRainbow here’s to the next cycle and another chance

Not at all @Babytobe don’t worry, there’s a lot to keep up with, I’m relatively new to the group and still trying to catch up with it all.

Sounds very intense @peperethecat keeping everything crossed for you

@VenusStarr I might give temping another go next month. I didn’t get on with it when I was ttc last time as my DD was still waking a lot in the night so I never felt my readings were very accurate, and didn’t give it enough of a go to get the hang of understanding it. I’ll see if I can dig out my thermometer. Any advice on best place to chart? Just on an app? Thanks

peperethecat · 29/05/2020 16:58

@VenusStarr I just keep peeing on cheapies, like 3 or 4 a day now.

This morning's looked a bit paler than yesterday's so I thought I might be out, then I did one this afternoon which looks definitely darker, but I haven't drunk that much water so I don't know.

FRERs over the next couple of days and then blood test on Tuesday, I guess. And cheapies until I run out, lol.

I'm mentally exhausted.

VenusStarr · 29/05/2020 17:03

I just chart on an app - fertility friend, its quite basic but its clear @marmitecheesetoast. This is what it looks like. If you get a solid 3 hours I think it's pretty accurate. Sometimes I'll wake up in the night for a wee, so will check the time and if it's after 4am I don't get up and go back to sleep 😑 I think I'm used to doing it now.
A good book is taking charge of your fertility, I got a cheap copy second hand from amazon, it was 50p plus postage I think. It explains everything - I dig it out the other day to look something up. I like the reassurance that I have ovulated instead of guessing.
I do need to not do it after ovulation is confirmed, as I have been known to over analyse my chart to look for signs 🤔! On that app you can do a comparison to the previous 3 months charts too, do you can look for patterns in your temps.

Hi @Venusstarr 😊
Thank for your welcome and kind sentiments. Sorry to hear of your losses. Three in a year is tough going but then again, seeing some of the other ladies life stories here makes me want to stop moaning about my own woe's.
Im 10 days post op and physically improving well but struggling with the other stuff. Appropriately though. Just sad. But still hopeful, thats my mantra.
Sounds like you had a fairly heavy day work wise, hope you can relax in the fine weather for weekend

TheFoz · 29/05/2020 20:05

Hello all, it took me a while to find this thread!

AF due today and I had a hunch so I did a test and unbelievably, BFP! I’m shocked but I’m trying not to think too much about it. I have two losses under my belt and I really couldn’t face another. Fingers and toes crossed!

SomeBunnyovertheRainbow · 29/05/2020 20:10

Thanks @VenusStarr That sounds like it cools have been emotional

@peperethecat I hope you get there answer you want

Congratulations @TheFoz

I seem to have AF and PMT today. No idea what’s going on with me but feel better at just the idea of speaking to my GP and also think I will track this cycle (I use Clear Blue Connect) which I haven’t done for a while.

Thanks @VenusStarr that’s really helpful to see an example. How about if you have a solid 3 hours but don’t wake up and do it at the exact time every day? Do we think leeway of around an hour (ie usually I get up at 7 but often DD wakes at 6) is ok?

VenusStarr · 30/05/2020 07:24

I think leeway of an hour is OK @marmitecheesetoast. The main thing is you don't get up or move around before you do it. I just have it on the bedside table. Is your thermometer 2 decimal places?

I'm shattered today, got to log into slimming world for a zoom meeting and I can't be bothered! Got to go and weigh myself...

marmitecheesetoast · 30/05/2020 09:15

Brilliant thanks @VenusStarr going to do it on my next cycle. Going to download Fertility Friend. Yes it’s 2 decimal places. Eek good luck for Zoom Slimming World!
I did too many squats yesterday and can’t walk down the stairs or get on and off the loo without going ‘Oooh ooh aah ahh ’ this morning 😆

VenusStarr · 30/05/2020 09:24

😂😂 Oh dear @marmitecheesetoast!

Weigh in was ok, maintained which is good as feel like I've had lots of snacks this week.

Having our decking finished today, can't wait. Dh has been sorting the electrics for some lights, can't wait to see it all together. Then we have the fun job of staining it... 🙄

SomeBunnyovertheRainbow · 30/05/2020 09:42

Pleased the weigh-in was ok @VenusStarr

Unfortunately our scales are missing a foot so I can’t weigh myself but I’m curious as to whether I’ve lost any weight since lockdown!

Good for you! @marmitecheesetoast

I have slacked a bit on the exercise this past week so need to do something active this weekend!

VenusStarr · 30/05/2020 10:06

It's such a nice day again, think I'll go for a walk.

I actually feel quite big @SomeBunnyovertheRainbow but after ovulation I've felt quite bloated so maybe it's that.

How are you @Mumlili9?

Did you test today @peperethecat, hope you've got some clarity. I'm sorry it's been so stressful for you x

Sakura54 · 30/05/2020 10:27

Hope you will be able to get tests done sooner rather than later @SomeBunnyovertheRainbow

I use Flo where spotting is logged under vaginal discharge, which is separate from the period part. I suppose it doesn’t really matter as it’s just a few day’s difference in terms of my cycle/ovulation. As long as I get the gist of my FW then it’s fine as my cycles are usually regular. I know that it takes a few months for cycles to settle after MCs so let’s see when my 2nd period comes.

@VenusStarr Have a nice walk! I don’t exercise apart from walking to parks most days and am obsessed with weighing myself even though its always the same lol.

It’s another weekend. They sure come about quick and the weeks seem to be flying by.

peperethecat · 30/05/2020 10:56

I went for a blood test @VenusStarr. It won't tell me whether I'm pregnant or not but at least when I go for my first "official" beta on Tuesday I'll know what the situation is.

VenusStarr · 30/05/2020 12:17

It's good you've had a blood test today, still more waiting but you'll know got definite @peperethecat, will you get any results today?

I'm quite lucky @Sakura54 that there's a nature reserve behind our house and it's quite hilly and really lush green at the moment, so it's nice to go and walk round it. It's super hot though today, might leave it until later.

SomeBunnyovertheRainbow · 30/05/2020 15:47

@Sakura54 Thats interesting re the different apps. I actually think Ovia should have a different section for discharge or spotting as spotting doesn’t always mean period. I think you’re right it doesn’t make much difference as my cycle is the same length whther I count the 2(ish) days spotting at the end of one cycle or the start of the next.

Hope you’re enjoying the weekend

I’m back and forth between doing some home improvements with DH and having a rest 😬. Still have PMT but helps to be busy!

OP posts:
peperethecat · 30/05/2020 16:22

They said I would get the results today but I haven't so I think it will be Tuesday now. I'm pretty sure I'm out anyway. The lines on my cheapies are just staying exactly the same colour.

I'm going to assume I'm not pregnant and drink wine this weekend.

SomeBunnyovertheRainbow · 30/05/2020 16:32

Good luck @peperethecat

OP posts:
VenusStarr · 30/05/2020 16:34

Sorry you haven't heard back @peperethecat enjoy your wine 🍷 xx

peperethecat · 30/05/2020 16:53

Thank you, I am going to try and forget about it as much as possible between now and Tuesday morning.

At least I did the blood test today so even if I don't have the results yet I should have two results to compare by Tuesday afternoon so then I will know whether I need to contact my doctor about what we do for the next cycle or whether I'm pregnant and need to keep getting blood tests done until I can book in for a scan.

VenusStarr · 30/05/2020 16:58

I think that sounds like a good plan :)

peperethecat · 30/05/2020 17:00

Our friends have invited us to Normandy for a couple of days so it will be good to get away. They will notice instantly if I'm not drinking so I think I will just have a few glasses of wine on the grounds that I think I'm most likely not pregnant and even if I am a couple won't hurt at such an early stage.

But I wish I could just test and know that a line means I'm pregnant and shouldn't drink!

VenusStarr · 30/05/2020 17:54

That sounds nice @peperethecat. I think allowing yourself a drink or two is absolutely fine and might help distract you ❤️

Mumlili9 · 31/05/2020 04:43

@VenusStarr I'm OK think af is going to arrive early this cycle which I find concerning as in the whole time I've been charting I've never had a luteal phase shorter than 14 days. I see what tomorrow brings
