Penguin huddle 🐧🐧🐧 TTC after pregnancy loss - Thread 35 - time for some sticky BFP's

Welcome to the 🐧 huddle. This a safe place to give and receive support for everyone who has experienced the loss(es) of a pregnancy or baby. Pregnancy and child loss is one of the most difficult things we can experience and it can also be the most lonely time too. I hope you find this thread to be of some comfort.

I have found so much comfort from the lovely ladies on this thread and I’m hoping for lots of BFPs in coming months!

@Marshmallow123 I had stop/start with my lochia over the course of about six weeks in total but I hadn't had any medical intervention with mine so would expect yours to last a much shorter time x

Marshmallow123 · 24/10/2020 16:07

Thanks @Kiki275

I’m not sure it’s not AF but a light one as the lining wouldn’t have had much time to build up to normal after the d&c. Also has some light cramping on Thursday.

I guess I just need to wait and see what happens...

kim80 · 24/10/2020 18:35

Hi @marshmallow123 I had the same over a 4 week period had 2 x erpc I bleed for a full month and after the 2nd one I only bleed for a week I then stopped and had spotting for a few days I was told that I would need a full 20 plus days clear with no bleed before I could count it as my AF I started to do ovulation tests and they were right as a week ago I had My peak so that suggests that in two weeks I should get my AF or hopefully not as we DTD as it had been so long 🙈 that would make this 6 weeks from my 2nd erpc and nearly 10 weeks from my first.

I hope it sorts out for you its been so frustrating not knowing where you are in your cycle and when the dreaded AF will arrive. 🤔

Marshmallow123 · 24/10/2020 18:41

@kim80 ok thank you. I think I might try to speak to my doctor this week to see what she suggests.

It’s so frustrating isn’t it!! I’ve never wanted AF more in my life!! Good to hear you seem to be back on track x

kim80 · 24/10/2020 18:42

@venusstarr how are you? have you had your appointment in Surrey if so how did it go.

I watched the miscarriage programme and I'm glad I did I thought it was really well done. 😊

kim80 · 24/10/2020 19:01

@venusstarr it might be worth an ask it is really fruatrating. In my head I'm back in track but we will have to see if my body agrees in 8 days time 🤔🙈😂😂😂.

Good luck and I hope it sorts out quickly for you. 😊

VenusStarr · 25/10/2020 14:06

Hi @kim80 thank you for asking. I'm definitely better than I was, I've had 2 counselling sessions now and my new counsellor thinks I have unresolved trauma and I'm stuck with my grief. I'm still off work but making a plan to go back next week.
My appointment with the Surrey doctor is 4 November, I'm looking forward to it. I've sorted all my medical notes and sent them over to the doctor. It's made me realise how much I've been through.
I hope you're doing OK. Fingers crossed af doesn't arrive 🤞

I'm sorry you've had such a difficult time @Marshmallow123. My medical management was 3 weeks ago and I already feel like I'm about to start af, getting a lot of painful cramping. It's not unusual for me to get my period back straight away, it's bittersweet to know my body snaps back to normal. I hope you get some clarity soon.

@Mumlili9 @LoveEatYoga @Kiki275 how are you all? 💕

Mumlili9 · 25/10/2020 14:31

@VenusStarr honestly not good. Another bfn at 12dpo so im out again it'll be a year February since my ectopic and not a hint of pregnancy. My hysteroscopy is booked for 20th November and I'm waiting on a date for hsg . Ive an appointment about my brain scan apparently there's some anomalies seen that they want to discuss treatment for but will not discuss over the phone.
Im totally floored now, im not sure I can take much more. Its effecting my day to day life, somedays im sad I woke up , its really not healthy so im waiting for a doctor to call me back today.

Love and hope to you all

Kiki275 · 25/10/2020 21:34

@Mumlili9 oh bless you, I wish there was something I could do ☹️. Do you have a good support network around you? I'm pleased to hear they have treatment plans in mind and hopefully treating one thing will help with other parts.

@VenusStarr you really have been through the mill, I hope the new doctor can connect all the dots and suggest a viable plan of attack.

I spoke to a nurse at my GP following my 8DPO AF. She was sympathetic and said to come in for a blood test on cycle day 21 to check hormone levels. I’ll also get my thyroid levels checked too as been meaning to do it for ages. AF has finished now so I'll be back on with OPKs and DTD very soon xx

VenusStarr · 25/10/2020 21:50

Oh @Mumlili9 ❤️ I'm sorry. Did the doctor call today? I'm sorry that you've got the worries about your brain scan on top of everything else. I'm glad your hysteroscopy is rescheduled and I hope that can give you some answers.

I'm glad your nurse is being proactive @Kiki275 you might already know this, so apologies, but the cd21 test needs to be done 7 days after ovulation, which might not be day 21 for you. My cycles are shorter so I went on day 19. If you're doing opks, you should be able to pinpoint it. Good you're getting your thyroid checked too - if its over 2.8 I was told I could ask to be medicated, mine was 3.06 in January, so I'm on a low dose of levothyroxine now too. You want it to ideally be under 2 for fertility x

kim80 · 26/10/2020 07:46

Hi @VenusStarr I'm so glad you are feeling better and the counselling is helping. 4th November is not far way please keep us updated on how you get on.

@Mumlili9 I am sorry you are not feeling good, and can not imagine how hard it must be for you with the worry of the scan on top of the stresses of TTC. I hope the appointments all go well and please keep us informed.

@Kiki275 good luck with the tests and hopefully next month will be your month.

I'm currently 7dpo but not holding much luck. We will all get there at some point. Smile

Kiki275 · 26/10/2020 08:35

@VenusStarr I didn't know that! Thank you. That probably means I should go later then. Will still go a CD21, have a chat with her & blood test, if I need to go a few days later then they can do the other arm 🙂 although that might put me into the weekend and it can't be done.
My thyroid has been borderline for ages, not quite consistent enough to get treatment. 🤞 it's playing ball that day x

kim80 · 27/10/2020 14:01

Hi all had a confusing day yesterday going by the opk I would have been 7dpo and had a show it was only when I wiped twice very pink blood and nothing since.

I dont want to start thinking this is implantation but cant help it but i know that it would be way to quick and havent even had a period since my 2x erpc's anyone else had this. Iv been on knicker check all day today but nothing since 🤦‍♀️ not sure if ita a early start for my af or something else.

Kiki275 · 27/10/2020 14:06

@kim80 fingers crossed it's implantation but totally understand not wanting to get your hopes up too early.
My period started at 8DPO last time so that's always possible. Just keep what you're doing, watching & waiting as frustrating as it is. I do hope it's good news xx

kim80 · 27/10/2020 14:55

@Kiki275 thank you for this, i do wonder if it is going to be an early af, which won't be early as its now 6 weeks since my 2nd erpc. I only ovulated 8 days ago had nothing at all today so maybe it was the start and the next few days will bring it. I wouldnt mind if it is af at least then I know my body is back to normal. Will just keep waiting lol

VenusStarr · 28/10/2020 09:53

@kim80 fingers crossed, I've never had implantation bleeding before a bfp but lots of people do. Are you going to test early? If you are I'd say try not to before 11dpo and use a good test like frer 🤞

How are you @Kiki275 whereabouts are you in your cycle?

Been thinking of you @Mumlili9 ❤️

I've come on, very lightly but had a lot of painful cramping since Sunday. I'm fascinated that my body gets back to normal so quickly after miscarriages - each time I have come on cd28 (my normal cycles are 25 days). I am incredibly emotional today though, it's a sad reminder too. Time has also stood still, still one week until my appointment, feeling impatient...🙄

kim80 · 28/10/2020 10:16

@venusstarr im kinda thinking its more the start of my period if im honest like you iv had some cramps and would be due this weekend so I think it was just a mind game lol. Like you im dreading it this will be my first one since the two procedures so not looking forward to it 😕 😔

Sorry you feel low. Yes not long now till your appointment 🤞 for you.

Kiki275 · 28/10/2020 10:17

@VenusStarr I can only imagine how bittersweet it is that your body does that. I really do hope the new consultant has some different ideas to discuss with you.

I'm on CD9 so back to OPKing and watching. Feeling quite positive about this cycle so fingers crossed. A lot less stressed about life in general too so I'm going to try and maintain the calmness x

VenusStarr · 28/10/2020 14:06

I've not tracked my cycle this time @kim80 so unsure if I ovulated at all. This one isn't too bad now it's here, hopefully your first one (if that's what this is) isn't too bad either, but even better if it's a bfp :)

@Kiki275 glad you're feeling positive and calm :)

kim80 · 28/10/2020 16:55

I'm 99.9% sure its definitely my af now which in a way is a good thing. At least I know my body is now doing what it should again.

@Kiki275 good luck have everything crossed for you. 🙂

VenusStarr · 28/10/2020 17:01

That's a good way to look at it @kim80. I'm a bit worried that my period is too light, it's barely there but I did bleed a lot longer with this miscarriage and I'm not 100% I did ovulate, so maybe my lining didn't have chance to grow much. I'm glad I'm seeing the new doctor next week, I'll mention it yo him and see if he thinks it's an issue.
I was supposed to have acupuncture today but she has covid! 🤦🏻‍♀️

Marshmallow123 · 28/10/2020 17:19

Just catching up with the comments

@kim80 it must be good to know your body is getting back into its rhythm. It’ll make next cycle easier to track.

@Mumlili9 hope all appointments go well

@VenusStarr Sounds like we’re in similar boats. I think mine is my AF since it’s been 5 days now but mine is also v light. Also got dr appointment next week.

@Kiki275 good to hear you’re feeling calm and positive, that’s surely got to help with TTC. Keeping everything crossed for a positive cycle for you.

Hope everyone is as well as can be expected. I don’t know about you girls but some days I’m fine and others I could cry at the drop of a hat!!

VenusStarr · 29/10/2020 10:15

I don't know if any of you remember me talking about my orchid, but it's still going strong! I lost a couple of flowers around the time of my first abd second scan but the rest are doing brilliantly, I still have 13 flowers 3 months after it first bloomed. It is still giving me hope 🌈 ❤️

My period has been a bit of a non event, hardly anything today. @Marshmallow123 I'm with you on the up and down emotions xx

Kiki275 · 29/10/2020 11:04

@VenusStarr it's beautiful! Just what's needed on a grey wet day xx

VenusStarr · 31/10/2020 10:14

Hi all, it's so grey and wet today!

Just wanted to pop on and share this act.sands.org.uk/BLAW2020-Debate?utm_source=BLAWInsta hope the link works. There is a debate in parliament on Thursday about the impact of covid on baby loss, it includes a template to send to your MP. Just wanted to share in case you were interested. They need 1000 people to support and are just under that.

I'm anxious about going into another full lockdown, I just want to get to my appointment on Wednesday 🙏

Hope you're all OK xx
